What doesn't go well at Checkers! Service is THE nicest place in Perry. Food is THE greatest and freshest placed in Perry - have you had their fresh fries?!?! The chocolate shake - banging! First off, this place is Open and has been going on 27 years strong! They close for a few weeks between late December and January. Otherwise, open all the time. Don't know why Yelp hasn't corrected that fact. I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't do a check in because it was allegedly closed. (Hopefully the review police will see that!) Now that that's off my chest, Checkers is a little gem located on the border of Perry and Madison. They are an old school, cash only, Ma & Pa run establishment that makes some of the best burgers and shakes around. Their onion rings and breaded shrooms are great, too. Heck, you just can't go wrong with whatever you get! I ordered the grilled cheese with caramelized onions, crispy onion rings and a chocolate malt. The grilled cheese was a bit salty but good. My hubby got the chicken sandwich. Very tasty. The lady that runs it is sweet as sweet tea! I can't say enough good things about Checkers! A must visit if you're in the area! read more

Very nostalgic vibe I got when I entered love the old coke vending machine & trike, the lady who took our order was very pleasant, order came out fast & hot. Other burger joints boasts over having "fresh never frozen patties" they child take note on how burgers are done, I've never had a better tasting bacon double cheeseburger in my life, Wendy's, B.K, 5 Guys McDonald's & any other burger joint don't even stack up to Checkers couldn't get a pic of fries because they were gone quick they are enough for 2 people, the only setback is no restroom facilities. read more

My husband and I just moved back here after being away for ten years. Before we moved I checked to see if this place was still open as it was one of my favorites growing up. Thank god it was. Just got take out today and it was the same lady running it and somehow looks like she hasn't aged a day. The food was exactly how I remembered it and my husband was just as impressed. It's a great little food stand along rt 20 You can oder for a whole family and spend under 20 bucks the menu isn't that large but there hot sandwich and burgers are pretty amazing the the frys are big and tasty as well.
