Went to this great little lighting place for the first time today. I was looking for some vintage era bulbs for an industrial style pipe lamp. The women working were extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to get me what I needed and answer any questions that I had. It was nice going into a small business and getting helped instead of trying to track someone down in a huge box store where the employees don't care about helping you get what you really want. It was also quite surprising that I was able to get the bulbs I wanted cheaper through the store than what I found on Amazon. I will definitely be returning to Peterson Lighting for my future lighting needs. read more

Needed to fix a thrift store mid century globe lamp: these guys had tons of parts in the back. Very helpful, oddball washer was "on the house". Good selection of fixtures too but best part is plenty of old stock "contraband" incandescents which are soon to become scarce and any other type of oddball lightbulb imaginable. Good Stuff. read more

Complete greedy liar! He used MY parts that I supplied (flourescent light bulbs) and charged me $65 for parts! He never mentioned a $68 service charge and didn't credit it to the bill for doing the work as is standard. He spent 1 hour changing a ballast and minor checks, and charged $252 for labor. Who has an hourly rate of $252/hr ?!?!?!?! NEVER AGAIN!!! PURE GREED!!! read more

One star is a gift. Both husband and wife are operating two companies blaming each other for their errors. People are human and mistakes happen. As a business owner you step up and handle it. This operation does not stand behind their recommendations or their workmanship!!! Just because you have been in business for many years doesn't mean your shit doesn't stink. The egos in this operation simply do not match the Long Beach attitude. People just want to be treated fair. I've grown up here and have never encountered such finger pointing and a true sense that everything we go is perfect If you want a quality job done and don't want to pay $175/hr for very simple work don't use this company. If you are not an electrical designer don't go here! They will recommend product that is no even compatible. Now as all Long Beach natives know when push comes to shove we stand up. All that is left is to have someone else decide right and wrong for us. Yes I have to get a lawyer and enter into a lawsuit.... Pathetic..... Sad way to do business..... Good luck... Beware...scary place... read more

I had some re wiring on on an lamp. The owner was not exactly rude but she was not very friendly. The whole staff needs a refresher course in customer service. Bottom line: They got the lamp rewired, took 3 weeks. They have nice lamps and fixtures. Don't expect a smile or service. read more

I've never encountered a business so determined NOT to take my money. I first went in to ask about a track light. Elderly lady said they didn't have it. Later i learned that she is the owner's mother and doesn't know the products very well. I went in when Lisa was there and she said yes, they can get the lights, but they were expensive. I showed her the price I'd gotten on the Internet and she wanted a link to show her buyer. She said I needed to talk with Mike. So I made an appointment to meet him at my new place. At the appointment time, I was 3 minutes late (I'd left a message for the guard) and Mike was leaving because I was late. Geeze. Then he was rude to me, asking, "are you a professional engineer?" I asked when the estimate would be ready, he said a few days. A few days later I called him and he said I had to talk with Lisa. So I did, and she said she didn't have it. So I called a few days later, still didn't have it. I called yet again, and she said she couldn't give it to me. I asked if she could just look it up and in a rude voice said, "I'm with a customer and they are first priority." She said she would call me back in 10 minutes. Surprise! she didn't. If Peterson people are rude and can't even give an estimate to a motivated buyer, it is hard to imagine how they can stay in business very long.= read more

I have had two antique lamps repaired recently and on both jobs they were excellent. The customer service was especially great on the last lamp as I turned it in to be repaired on one day and picked it up on the next day. I would trust them with any of my lamps. read more

After trolling the Internet looking at lights for a pergola I went to Peterson Lighting. Lisa helped me and exceeded all customer service expectations. I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for but knew what I didn't like. With her well structured questions, she led me to the exact lights that were perfect. She gave me a ballpark delivery date that was right on the mark. When getting ready to hang the lights we dropped one of the packages and a part broke. In a panic, due to an upcoming wedding under the pergola we called Peterson Lighting and requested the replacement part and expedited shipping. In thinking outside the box Lisa was able to get us a replacement part same day and avoided the expedited shipping costs. Big box stores and the Internet can not replace the individualized customer service that she provided. read more

Home Depot referred me to this lighting place. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. I had a broken obsolete glass from my 50's chandelier and could not find it anywhere. I looked online to no avail. The woman there took measurements and found a very similar glass for me. They did have to order it, but this was the first place that would even talk to me or try and find me a suitable replacement. Because of them my parents lighting now hangs proudly in my house! I figured I would try and have them rewire a old lamp as well. Did a great job. Looking to redo kitchen soon will be going there to pick out pendants I will let you know how that goes. read more

I just moved to Long Beach and needed lighting for my apartment. I could not have asked for a better experience! Lisa took me around the shop and showed me different lighting ideas within my budget. I can't wait to hang my new fixtures, and to top it off, she gave me a great deal! I will definitely be coming back. read more

I couldn't find the lamp socket I needed at Home Depot and was told to check Peterson. It's a rare lamp socket that has a turn switch that control both small bulb at base and large bulb at top. I called and was told they had the part. It was a long ways to go but I needed he part. When I got there the lady said it would be $35 to replace. I told her I only needed that part , I had someone to replace it. She said it was dangerous if it wasn't done correctly. The part was not in a package it was just handed to me, I paid cash because they don't take cards under $10. My electrician friend just came to replaced the part and it's defective. You can hear something loose inside when you shake it. I'm just wondering if his was intentional?? She almost seemed angry when I cam e in with the lamp but didn't want it fixed there. I live in WLA so I'm certainly not driving back to L.B., what a waste of time and money! read more

Initially I was extremely impressed but that was very short lived. We were looking for outdoor lighting for our home and after searching around, I visited them out (being a smaller Long Beach business) one Saturday. I spoke to a lady (I think one of the owners) who listened to what we were looking for and she told me instead of rushing into a decision, to review some lighting catalogs over the weekend so we could leisurely make up our mind. Where they were closed on Sunday and Monday, she told me it would be okay to return the books on Tuesday when I could sit with her and discuss what we had chosen. I thought to myself this is great customer service! Well, then the problems started. On Tuesday, I had to leave left work early (since they close @ 5PM) to ensure I could get there to return the books and have time for our meeting. When I got there a lady behind the counter told me that she is off on Tuesdays (which makes me wonder why did she tell me she was going to be there?). At first I was a bit upset but hey things happen. So I left our names and phone numbers with the lady behind the desk graciously apologized and she assured me that they would call me Wednesday. Well...that never happened. In the end, we stopped waiting for them and went through another distributor for our lights (which by the way we found in one of their catalogs). We couldn't be happier with the service we got from the other company we ordered the lights from and the installation they did for us. Guess in the end Peterson Lighting didn't really want our business... read more
