This place is amazing, and it's supposed to be a paint and hardware store? It has a little bit of everything. I cannot even list everything they sell. I cannot count the amount of times that I have walked past this store without taking a look inside. It's not inviting from the exterior, but thought I'd take a look inside today. I was planning to take a quick walk through the store, but kept stopping to look at the variety of merchandise. They sell the usual hardware, such as cabinet handles and paint buckets. The mini Ace paint buckets for $1.99 are seriously cute. They also sell toys, keychains, T-shirts, and signs. They even sell bbq sauces and meat rubs. I saw those items in the end displays. Billings is this great shop. It is so much more than a paint and hardware store. In fact, I don't even know what definition you could put on this shop as they offer so many things from all areas of the everything. Yes, they have the hardware items that you would expect. And yes, they offer paint and other such items along those lines. But, more than that, they have toys, they have trinkets, they have signs, they have wall hanging items, they truly have a little bit of everything. Just going inside the shop is a true adventure, because you will never know what you are going to find. This store is truly packed. The moment you walk in, every aisle is lined with tons and tons of stuff. Truly, it is a deluge of the senses. Because it's just amazing the amount of things that they offer. The staff here are all super nice. So, if you have any questions, need any help, they are always happy to give it to you. Just remember, it's way more than a hardware store. It's truly a unique place to shop that you never know what you'll find. Meaning, you may go in there and find that really specific item that you were looking for, or you may go in and find that really special something that would make the perfect gift or that's something that you never knew you needed but you now love. Came here last night to grab a container to pack the freezer. While styrofoam containers are no longer sold in CA they told me, there was a local startup that was recently acquired by Igloo that had a case here. The staff immediately jumped to help me find it and shared the story of the product with me. It was a 16qt cooler and the staff at this multiple store hardware store went above and beyond and I felt like I got really personalized attention, despite there being a good number of people in the store. The cashier was helpful, greeting me & calling upstairs help to meet me. Two guys were up there walking towards me eager to help. The guy who ended up helping me knew his stuff on electrical. As I was paying my husband walked up & reminded me of the wood item I was also suppose to get. No worries, two more helpful guys swooped in before my husband could get mad at me & wisked him off to the right aisle, & he retuned before I finished paying. Excellent service. I'll be honest: this Ace on Belmont Shore has nearly everything you might need. However, the prices are noticeably higher than other hardware stores, and more importantly, shopping there has felt uncomfortable for me as a woman of color. I feel watched by employees; once I bought pepper gel that was kept in the back and the cashier didn't scan it until I pulled out my card -- it felt like I was being closely monitored. I've visited other Ace Hardware locations and haven't had this experience, which makes it stand out in a negative way. Helpful inventory, but the price and the way customers of color are treated (in my experience) are big drawbacks. read more

The staff is so very professional and knowledgeable about the store. They just have way to many staff members they won't leave you alone. I counted 8 employees and I was the only one there. I buy smash ball sets here on a pretty regular basis. I have huge affection for the Main Street hardware stores of my childhood and this is a great example of one. So this is my local hardware store and when I first moved here I thought I'd get a few small things here but I'll probably have to drive to get to a bigger hardware store. That has not turned out to be the case! They have everything despite looking small from the outside. I'm always doing small little repairs and what not around the house and sometimes I don't know what would work for the job. But they always do! And they never treat me in that way that some hardware stores will treat a woman. They're always respectful, talk to me like a professional, take me seriously. They always have little cute things too. I got this adorable little sailboat the other day while I was there shopping for a universal crossbar. This small hardware store in the thick of Belmont shores is most needed. There isn't a Home Depot or anything to help you with the home repair or general tool shopping anywhere in the area, so it's a life saver. I was looking for some L-keys and they had a good assortment of them. I also shopped for some other stuff, they have a lot for home improvement. Check-out at counter was super friendly. There is a loyalty program you can sign up for if you see yourself coming back here multiple times. Based on the convenient location of this hardware store the prices are good. I stopped this store in hopes of finding my cousins' who were visiting from out of state some house numbers that were tiled. An employee an older gentlemen asked, " Can I help you?" I responded, "Yes, I'm looking for tiled house numbers?" He stated that, "We only have sticker and wooden house numbers and none that were tiled." I'm a little bummed but okay. Then he stated, "that he Wouldn't have MY house number anyway." House numbers are sold individually 0-9. Typically a person selects each number to comprise there house number. This little hardware store is a community staple, where everyone in Belmont shore goes for a wide range of needs. It is unbelievable how much merchandise these guys have considering the size of establishment. No matter what you need - chances are they have it. What also makes it special, that the owner is very often on the floor ready to help and make sure that customers are satisfied. This is not something that you see very often these days. I know I'm not the only one who is grateful that the during the hard times of nationwide decline, this little store miraculously survived, and we can still enjoy their service! You close in 50 minutes but say you close at 6 on Sunday. So either update your online time or close your doors. I walked in asked what I was needed which was a putty. Your staff member looked at the section it was stored in blocked by a plastic chair, and said "...yeah I'm not moving that. We're closed." Still almost A FULL HOUR BEFORE YOU CLOSE! Can't find something for around the home, even at a big box store, Billings probably had it and there will be a helpful employee there to point you directly to where it is in the store and have knowledgable advice. I started going here at the start of the COVID pandemic when the owner went out of his way to get items that were in short supply. Now I come here for all kinds of things and even enjoy coming in and always having friendly staff that makes them feel like a helpful neighbor and not a store. This review is long overdue but here we go I absolutely hate the energy at the store. All the employees come off as miserable judgmental. And they all discriminate, they treat you like a scumbag. Even if you're just a honest person looking for something in the store to purchase. I hate the way they treat you at the check out like a security Check at the airport. It's absolutely ridiculous how overreactive they are when you're trying to return something with a receipt. I got pissed off. Because they gave me a horrible time. I went into this store to purchase some needed supplies for my project. As I'm waiting in line to come in the store, I see advertised at the front as you enter that they have hand sanitizer for sale... I say to myself, wow increíble when i come in I'll purchase a couple, one for each car. The jokes on me, sold at $35 per bottle!!! A small bottle in the high teens. Honestly, a business that takes advantage of their customers at a time where we are all looking to protect ourselves is utterly despicable to say the least. I will NEVER buy from this store!!!
