I dropped off two small lamps to be repaired a week ago. The woman that helped me told me she would check it out to see what was wrong and give me a call back the following day. She never did. I received a call today notifying me my lamps were fixed and ready for pickup. When I arrived the same woman asked me how much she quoted for the repair. I then replied she never told me since she never followed up. Then she quoted me a ridiculously expensive price per lamp. Mind you, I bought these lamps brand new for literally half the price of each she quoted the repair to be. I of course am outraged as I would have never followed through with the repair had she notified me the price beforehand like she was supposed to do. I now have to wait another day for them to dissemble my lamps and waste more of my time to return tomorrow to pick them up the way they originally were read more

A few weeks ago I popped into Petersons needing lights for our home but had no idea what I wanted. Lisa the owner sat with me as we flipped through catalogs and she helped me pick out lights that would suit our home. Lisa advised it's better to take my time picking out what I really like and leave the store feeling good about my decision! This week we have visitors coming and I broke the light in the guest bathroom. I called Lisa for advice and she came to my rescue! In 24 hrs she had the light removed from the wall, rewired in the store and back up on the bathroom wall ready to use! Lisa went out of her way to help me and I'm truly grateful! I recently brought my Tiffany style lamp to Lisa. The shade on it was detaching from three different places and needed a lot of careful repairs. When we first entered the shop we were greeted with friendly smiles and a warm hello's from her and Nelly. They are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic on helping us getting our beautiful lamp fixed. Lisa gave us a fair price and we even came out the store with a new lamp that we saw and liked! The shade took awhile to get fixed but honestly we knew it was going to take awhile to be restored. But when we got it back it was like it was brand new, the time that it was getting fixed was worth it . Lisa and her staff really put some time and love on fixing our lamp. Been back many times over the years. Last visit she resold me something to replace a screwed up piece she sold me in the first place! Wrong wattage on the bulbs burned out the CEILING FAN LISA! I drove around the block with NO insight from you being on hold, but hubby said he had called an electrician! SO.... why purchase another WRONG thing, I drove around tbe block and returned it. ONLY to have you accuse me of draining your expertise....on hold. Customer service is KEY yet you think its ALL about you.... it isn't. Lisa "tracked" down a designer fixture that has been discontinued ages ago and could only be found in New York; recommended I buy two so that I will be set for life; just the most recent example of customer service that she has shown me; just popped the new one in on my track with gratitude! Just wrapped up our second round of light shopping at Peterson lighting, and again came away feeling very positive. In all we found lights for 7 different areas for our remodel, which took two reconnaissance visits, and two visits where we made an appointment with Lisa . I highly recommend making an appointment (we just called a couple of hours ahead of time on both occasions). Lisa has a wealth of knowledge about lighting and is happy to share, but you'll want her undivided attention if you're ready to make some decisions. There are so many things you can't tell about lights you see online, so her input was really worthwhile. The store is chock full of lights too--it's a little claustrophobic but helpful in that she was able to show examples of light styles we'd seen online--and there were both extremes (things we thought we'd like from the photos but didn't and vice versa). In the end we got 14 lights total, and everything arrived when expected and looked at least as good if not better than we thought. Price wise, we expected to pay more, given that it was a local brick and mortar shop with really well informed staff, but in the end, I think we actually paid less than we would have online. One piece that we'd picked out online was exactly the same price, and in another case, Lisa pointed us to a cheaper line that had a similar looking fixture (for a part of the house that was less crucial). She also offered a discount on a few of the lights because we were ordering a lot of stuff (and she offered that, so we didn't even have to ask!). Lastly, I'd recommend that if you do go in, DO leave a Yelp review! I was almost put off by the mixed bag of reviews I'd seen, but I'm really glad I ignored the grumpy ones because our experience was so positive. My observation after going in six times (including pick-ups), is that there is a constant flow of people through the store, many clearly coming regularly for lamp repairs or obscure bulb purchases, but I suspect they don't think about writing a review, and this is exactly the sort of small business that we should all be supporting to help keep it in our neighborhood. read more

I was pretty nervous going into the place because, well, frankly, there were a lot of reviews here saying the owner has a bad attitude. Guess what, a bunch of angry Yelp reviews are *surprise* very much NOT a reflection of the business and its employees. The owner, Lisa, and her employee were extremely friendly and helpful. I spent about an hour in the store today and I asked quite a few questions. Truly, they were both so kind and patient and informative. I really don't know where the other bad reviews came from. I found a great pendant light fixture at a great price. There are so many items in stock, it really is impressive. Way better than the selection at Home Depot/Lowes but you get to actually see the thing before you buy, unlike Amazon. Support this small business! read more

We just stopped at Peterson's where we had the misfortune of being insulted by Lisa Peterson. It is beyond me how that business has survived with that woman's manners. She is the rudest person I have ever encounter in a business from not wanting to price certain light fixtures " Because they were too expensive" or when I asked her about the return policy she told me " once I order them they are yours I am not here to please you!!!!" Rude, rude, rude!!! She wrote some notes of certain items I liked but at the end u asked her for the note with the stock numbers but she refused to give them to me! Unbelievable !!!! read more

Having a 1918 Bungalow means that you need to like to tinker. Over the years, I have taught myself many skills and find great satisfaction in doing the work myself. One of my latest skills is electrical rewriting, grown out of necessity based upon my obsession with ridding my house of all non-antique lighting. However, when it came to rewriting our 1910 five bulb chandelier, I decided to let a professional do it. I took it to Peterson's... The intake process was simple enough and they seemed very friendly. Was told that it would be ready within a week, which seemed reasonable. A week came and went, so I called. I was told that the parts they had ordered didn't fit, which I understood as this chandelier is over 100 years old. The next day, I received a call from the shop saying my light was ready. I was so excited that I almost immediately jumped in the car and headed down. When I got there and told them I was there to pick up my chandelier they said it wasn't ready. Turns out they called the wrong customer. I was less than happy for the lost time. Another week passed and I had heard nothing. So,I called again. The woman was a little testy with me. Again, I heard the parts excuse. Alas, what could I do? Finally, after 3 weeks of waiting, I received a call saying it was time. I immediately headed down to the shop and was surprised to see that they were still finishing it up, even though they had already told me it was ready. Like a Thai massage, this story had a happy ending. The light is hung and working beautifully even though it took three times as long and required one too many trips. read more

This place is crazy. I brought two lamps in here to be rewired and fitted with harps. When I dropped them off, on a Tuesday, the lady that took them was really nice. She told me they'd most likely be done on Saturday, and she'd give me a call. Saturday I haven't heard from them so I decided to call and check up. - Hi, I'm calling to see if my lamps are ready to be picked up? - Did we call you? - Um, no, but I was told --- - Then they're not ready. We'll call you when they are. Oooooooooook. Kind of rude, but not a huge deal if they're not done. Flash forward to like a week and a half later, I still haven't heard back, so I call again. - Oh, I'm sooo sorry. We've been waiting on a part for your lamps. We didn't have the right finish so we had to order it, and it still hasn't come in. - Oh, ok. These things happen. - We'll get to work on it as soon as that part comes in. It should be here in a couple days and then it won't take long to finish. Sorry about the wait. Another week later. - I'm checking to see if my lamps are ready. - No. They aren't ready. - Can you tell me when they will be? - *sigh* She's probably working on them right now. We'll call you when they're done. WTF. She's probably working on them? Is she or isn't she? Or do you just not care and said that to try to shut me up? A couple days later I get a call that they're done at like 4:20. I rush over to try to get there and get parked in the lot at 5:01. The store is already completely dark and empty. Looks like they left 30 min before. They close at 5. But I did finally pick up my lamps (after nearly a month), and they did a really good job. They look brand new and work great. And they were really nice to me when I picked them up. Weird. I might go back, since they're the closest lamp repair around, but I'll have to resign myself to their timetable. read more

Took advantage of an elderly couple on SSI and Social Security ( very limited income) by charging them $250 because of a short caused by a loose wire in a table lamp switch. That outfit ( husband and wife) proclaim to be Christian....shame on them...they are more hypocrites than anything else! Wish we could give them zero star. Stop the abuse and don't call them. After shopping endlessly online for a pretty specific light fixture and not finding quite what I wanted that could be delivered within my timeframe, I went to Petersons and so glad I did! This was my first time visiting the store and they have a great selection, all types of lighting. I walked in and as I was greeted by Nelly, I looked up at the ceiling and the exact fixture I had been looking for was right above me! Nelly was so sweet to give me several different lightbulbs at no charge. And the price was lower than what I had seen anywhere else for this particular light; I had actually gone to another local store that was able to order it for me but it was $40-$50 more and I would have had to wait at least a week to have it shipped. I Purchased 30 lights on March 4, 2020. Two entire months went by with multiple phone calls to them to produce no lights. I have called at least 10 times Leaving my information including an invoice number with their representative. I finally spoke to the owner regarding a refund in the amount of $49.28 because after 2 1/2 months not receiving my product I no longer need it. She promised me she would call me right back and now 3 1/2 weeks later with no return phone call. I called again. To receive the same representative that keeps telling me to call back on Tuesday. It's really sad during a time like this going through COVID-19 Where I lost my store and the money is important to me at this time. I cannot get back my money after calling a total of 12 times. Beware of this company if they have to order your product don't expect your product to come on time and or receive a call from them to let you know. I dropped off my 1930's ceiling light fixture for repair. Nelly asked me to send her pictures of it on her cell phone so she could fix it. I sent her the pictures that day. After two weeks had passed I texted to ask her when it would be done. I did not receive a text back I called the store and she said she had been sick and would have it to me in a few days. I called the store about a week later and she told me she would have it by Friday. No call again, so I called the store again and this time spoke to Lisa she put Nelly on the phone and told me she was busy and would call me right back. No call back I called the store the next day and left a message that I was concerned that I wasn't hearing back from them and still no callback. 5 weeks after dropping it off I went into the store today and Nelly had a hard time finding my lamp. When she did she said the parts just came in today and she could fix it for me and I could pick it up tomorrow. I don't think she had ever opened the bag to work on it. I asked her why she didn't tell me she had to order parts and she said her phone wasn't working????. Funny I can see she read my text a few days ago. I took my light fixture with me. I had a lamp I got from my Great grandmothers house after she passed away. It had a beautiful glass shade, but it was missing a special chimney and the holder was broken. No one would work on it or help, but I found petersons online. So I called them and they had me measure and photograph it and email it to them. They researched the parts and ordered them for me. It only cost me about $40 including the shipping so it probably wasn't a big sale for them, but they gave me really good customer service anyways. read more

After purchasing a second home in the area, we wanted to give our business to a small local business owner. What a mistake. As a business owner, she needs to learn customer service. Rude. And her husband....he came to our home to install and did not have a basic plate. He had to go back to his shop and he tried to charge us for that time too! He talked a lot and much of it was inappropriate, so we told him "no thanks" on the second light and we would do it ourselves. Next time...a big box store for us! Went to this great little lighting place for the first time today. I was looking for some vintage era bulbs for an industrial style pipe lamp. The women working were extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to get me what I needed and answer any questions that I had. It was nice going into a small business and getting helped instead of trying to track someone down in a huge box store where the employees don't care about helping you get what you really want. It was also quite surprising that I was able to get the bulbs I wanted cheaper through the store than what I found on Amazon.
