Istanbul Home gets your attention with the beautiful decor, nice colorful lamps. Everything is imported and made in Turkey, lots of home decor, accessories, kitchen dishes, wallets, carpets, Turkish coffee and tea, jewelry. Some prices are a tad high, but they are brought from afar. Nice customer service, big, nice space. The shops transports you to Istanbul, without the hassle and bustle of a huge bazaar! read more

I try to support local businesses instead of buying online whenever possible and am ok if a shop charges more than Amazon within reason, but this was well beyond acceptable. I went to pick up some Turkish coffee here and was charged $44 for a coffee that is $12-$20 elsewhere online. There wasn't a price on the coffee can and I didn't think to ask about the price before checking out because there's no way I'd ever think this coffee would cost $44. 1 star for the friendly swindler...I mean salesperson...who offered me a Turkish delight while I looked around and taught me how to make Turkish coffee, 5 stars for the ambiance assuming you don't buy anything there and 0 stars for the prices. read more

I came across this cute little shop as I haven't been to shoreline in years. Able was the associate in the store on this day. He informed us of all the different locations that this company manages including a nearby restaurant. The shop is very clean, neat and organized. There are lots of nice things in the store to look through. My friend and I spent some time talking with Abel who is nice, friendly and helpful. He offered us a discount on an item that I did decide to purchase. I wanted to buy some other items, but I needed to wait to purchase at a later time. I definitely got a good deal on the stone that I purchased, and I am very happy with. Oh, and one last thing, when you walk into the store it smells incredibly good. Vesta and I wandered into the Belmont Shore location of Istanbul Home just after dark. We were strolling along on Second Street, both getting our steps in and seeing the holiday lights. And most of those holiday lights couldn't light a candle, compared to the bright shiny things they had in that store. Inside, we met Hakan, who was happy to let us take photographs there, which was way cool, because we've been kicked out of some places when we start taking pictures of stuff. There were a lot of nice things in his store, plus gorgeous looking carpets and Hakan and the other man working there were very nice, so nice that I took a half dozen photos of Hakan. I think I might have made him a little uncomfortable. I do that sometimes, not on purpose. It's just that my camera just naturally wants to photograph people. Whoever the guy that works here is (owner/manager?), he is very RUDE. My daughter asked me to get her a pretty mirror/ comb set that she liked and I asked the girl helping me how much it was. Before SHE could answer, the guy said "TOO MUCH" to me. Like what?? Is he trying to sell stuff or not? Then SHE said "$30".. I was thinking, that's too much?????? Was he joking? Trying to be offensive? She gave it to me for $25 because I had already paid for $40 for 2 cans of coffee (I think??). Which, by the way, is a total rip off - the coffee is $7 each on Amazon. And the comb set is $10 with a 20% off. See pictures. Anyway, I only bought the mirror set because my little girl was begging for it. If it was for me, I wouldn't have bought it because that guy was just rude and so unprofessional. I don't know the girls name that was helping me, but she was really nice and professional. I asked the price of some nice "gold" bracelets they had and she said they were $25. She kinda sold me so I ended up wanting to get two, she charges my card and doesn't tell me the total until I look at the receipt and it comes out to $89! I say oh no this should be at least 50 and she says no and she already charged my card, I tell her I would like to return both or at least one. I have been buying from Istanbul Home for years. I love all the fun bracelets, anklets, and other fun jewelry as it adds to that beach summer vibe. I must have a half dozen of their gorgeous pashminas and a couple of purses as well. But I've always had my heart set on one of their brilliant and colorful lamps. I finally got my wish recently and was able to buy a stunning purple hanging lamp. The gentleman (I believe his name was Eyüp) was very helpful in finding the exact right lamp for my lounge, explaining how they were interchangeable and how strong the glass really is, and showing me how easy it was to take it apart to clean or replace a bulb. I also was able to experience the wonderful Turkish hospitality, as well as a coffee and some mouthwatering Turkish Delight, while we discussed their products and negotiated a fair price for them. No set, no tray no sugar holder etc. A whole set of 6 is like $60 online which even includes SPOONS. MDR location isnt much different - I walked in same day to return the 2 teacups and was told no returns or store credit (even though they had a sign on the wall saying store credit). I wandered into this business tonight when I arrived early for a dinner reservation next door at Yasu and locked my bicycle up outside of their store. One of my favorite travel destinations was Istanbul, so I was immediately drawn to the beautiful artistry inside and took a minute to browse and chat. Even before dusk, the lamps were captivating and beautiful and the folks inside were kind and welcoming. When I came back after dinner to my bicycle outside the store, they came out to tell me I had left my iPhone on the bike (!!!) and that they held it for me! This is what community is about, folks. A store with people who not only have pride in their goods and their culture, but still remember to look after each other even with someone who didn't make a purchase. This store felt like a bit of family and it is just wonderful that they find a way to treat the community like family too. I will be back soon and hope our LB community supports this store because they seem to represent a little of what I love about Long Beach. read more

My wife bought a 3 lamp light fixture here. She paid 300.00 and when i got home my opinion was that she over paid. The lamp is nice and looks good in our beach house. The issue is they do not put price tags on their products so they will rip you off if they get a chance. Its like going to Tj. If you dont negotiate thay will take your money. I was in the area for a work event/vacation and decided to explore one night when I came across this beautiful lit up place full of one of a kind treasures! The gentleman working was so kind and took his time to talk with me. I decided I needed one particular lamp that was stunning. I was assaulted by the owner back in November. I bought "gold plated" rings for $35. I wore them the rest of that afternoon for at 3 hours and one started to turn silver under the bottom. I wore them again for 4...5 hours to a dinner party. About 2 hours in I notice the rings have completely changed color. No longer gold but brassy. I take them back on that Monday before heading out of the country for the holidays. I politely informed the manager that I would like my money back because the young lady guaranteed me that would not turn. Because of course that's the first thing I asked when paying $35 for 2 rings. I informed him that I was leaving the country and I didn't have time to come back. He insinuated that I'm broke and need the money to travel.. (what will $35 do abroad?!) He then tried to explain to me as if I was a child how this gold is not real gold and will always change color. He points to his Tiffany bracelet and tells me how it's real gold $300 and these rings are only $35 and aren't real and will turn. I said sir I don't care give me my money back please. He as the manager tells me to come back when the young lady is back at work. As ridiculous as that sounds. I said no and that I am calling consumer affairs and BBB for selling fake items and under false pretenses. He then tried to snatch the rings away from me. I keep my grip on them because I want my money back first. We being tustling in the store. He's pulling my hand trying to pry it open. I'm in shock and disbelief. I yell I hope your camera work bc you're assaulting me! And he stops immediately and throws his phone and begins to beat his desk as if he's pretending he's hitting me. He snatches the desk drawer open and begins counting money. He asks for my card to reverse the payment I told him cash was fine. He insisted that I use my card. The card was a temp card from my bank and I only had my replacement card so it would not work. I toss the rings over at the desk as he begins back to the register bc I don't want to make contact with him again after he has already assaulte me. He then slams the money on the counter and I snatch it. His business cards and walk out. He begins to yell for me to bring his property back and came running behind me. I didn't flinch or turn around. I just said if you touch me again I'll call the police so tread lightly. I was heading to the airport and already stressed enough flying during Covid I didn't have the time or patience to call the police. I misplaced the cards and could not remember the name of the establishment but I walked past recently and made sure I took note. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS!! NASTY, RUDE, SCAMMING LIARS. I wish I had taken the time to get a police report and press charges bc I'm sure he has deleted the security video. read more
