Needed to get a panel upgrade and an EV charger installed. There's an open space between my panel and my garage, so I was told by other electricians that I'd have to get someone else to break the concrete because they don't do that. These guys were one of the few that could handle the concrete work, and they also handle all the permit work as well. Staff worked hard, finished everything quickly and made sure the work site was clean as a whistle after they finished. Everyone was really friendly, from the receptionist on the phone, the staff and the people giving me estimates. It's been more than a year since I got my EV charger installed, and I haven't noticed any problems since then. Price-wise, I feel it was pretty fair especially considering how they made everything so convenient. All in all, they did everything well. I'd have no problems recommending them to others, and will likely go back to them when I need other things addressed in the house. read more

The crew I had did a good job. Clean installation. The new panel looks great. Very courtious team.

TL:DR Reasonable pricing, relatively quick appointments, and good quality work. The downside was that their communication wasn't great so there were miscommunications between various people there and I needed to be fairly persistent to make sure we moved things along and I got the work we requested. But all in all, I would use them again for sure - just knowing I might have to follow up from time to time. Longer review: we contacted them to give us a quote for a whole house fan and attic fan. Of the quotes we got, they were very reasonable and they also had appointments available relatively soon. The person who came for the quote wasn't sales-y either which was a plus. I won't go into details of the various hurdles to communicate with them but it just wasn't very smooth. When they came to do the attic fan first, they told me they could only do that because the whole house fan had not arrived yet. Then they installed it and forgot to install a switch which was part of the quote. When they came to do the whole house fan a week later, again they didn't know to install a switch for the attic fan. I also had trouble with the invoice. Ultimately, they had a good price and did good work so I'm satisfied but just couldn't give them 5 stars because the overall experience was a little clunky. That said, I would definitely use them again. read more

Only company we will ever use. Came out gave us the quote that was better than the other companies. Tried to give a couple small business electricians a chance but they were unprofessional. But Mario Electric's team came out and got the work done fast, professionally and clean work. They separated our electrical for our ADU. It's own service panel. They also added outlet for our laundry room, ring door bell and outdoor outlet. 20 out of 10. read more

I recently had Mario Castillo Electric, of Long Beach, upgrade my electric panel in a Lakewood house that I own. The installers, Edgar, Gabriel, and Salvador were on time and did a excellent job installing a new 200 amp panel. They arrived about 8:30 am and were totally done by 4:00 pm. They know what they are doing and go out of their way to make everything right. I would highly recommend them for any of your electrical needs. Ted C. read more

Had a lovely experience with Mario Castillo electric! Needed to put in recessed lighting in our living room, and an EV Charger as well as a some strip lighting in our garage. Everything was done very well and very quickly! Extremely competitive quote as well. When I initially reached out I wanted quotes from multiple businesses so I requested 3 businesses from yelp to come out. Of those quotes, the only one I got back in a timely manner was from Mario Castillo electric, one of the others came out and then just never go back to me with the quote, the other got back to me but over a week late (also came in super high), we're so happy we worked with these guys! Geo was excellent and super professional when he did the quote, the guys who came out to do the work were great as well. Very efficient and clean. Will for sure choose this business again in the future! read more

Called based on Yelp review and was very pleased from this first experience. The office contact was very professional using text messages to keep me informed. Expected a significant $ $ charge for a skilled worker troubleshooting my problem. Well worth the price ! Luciano Carrillo did an excellent job finding and fixing an issue related to poor work done in 1987 when this duplex was constructed. My handyman always suggests I use licensed contractors for both complex plumbing and electrical troubleshooting. I appreciated the service that I received from Mario Castillo Electric. From the initial estimate appointment to the day of installation, all of the team members were great. Rudy and Jovanny were the technicians that came out to do the Tesla charger installation, they arrived earlier then the scheduled time and completed the job in one day. They were thorough and very polite. The next week Mario came out for the inspection with the city and it passed with flying colors. If I need any electrical work in the future, I will be sure to call Mario Castillo Electric. read more

Gabriel and Edgar were very polite, clean and efficient. They also communicated well.

Excellent staff and company. From the get go Luciano was wonderful, detailed and very professional when we called for an estimate. We had to replace our old original panel and had the pleasure of getting Salvador & Edgar. These two worked tirelessly to make sure everything was just right. They were both very polite, explained in detail what they were doing and went above and beyond. There was a lot of work and these two really worked their tail off and I cannot thank you enough. Mario Castillo Electric is definitely the go to for any of your electrical needs, No BS just professional & honest. read more

I had half my house with old knob and tube and called Mario Castillo Electric. They sent out Geo who did a great job in taking the time to understand the overall project. He answered all my questions and I found him very helpful. Sal and Daniel teamed up to come in and do the work and they did a great job. They were on time, professional and ensured I was happy with the results. I would hire them again. read more

I had an excellent experience working with Victor and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a reliable electrician. He arrived on time, quickly identified the issue, and fixed it efficiently within the one-hour service window. In my case, the problem was a simple need for an additional breaker in my control panel, and he handled it with confidence and expertise. What really stood out was his honesty. No upselling, no unnecessary work, and absolutely no pressure. This was refreshing, especially compared to a competitor who previously told me they couldn't pinpoint the issue and later provided an inflated, unclear troubleshooting quote. Victor is knowledgeable, competent, transparent, and professional. I will definitely call him again for any future electrical needs. Highly recommend! read more

Once again, the team at Mario Castillo Electric has delivered! Victor Santiago was quick, effective and knowledgeable as he extended our electrical to add new capacity for us. Thanks Victor! read more

My spa stopped working, so I contacted my spa maintenance guy to come check it out. It turned out that the breaker kept "tripping" and he mentioned that I probably needed a "new breaker". He offered to change it and I politely declined. I immediately contacted Mario Castillo Electric. I have used this company for quite a few years and have always been extremely satisfied with the service. Luciano "Lucky" came out to inspect the breaker and agreed that the breaker kept tripping because the wattage did not support the wattage for the spa. The spa was installed 15 years ago! Overtime it wore out. Lucky was exceptional and professional. He explained step by step how it happened and gave his professional advice. We were very happy with his honesty and opinion. We called and set up an appointment with Joanne and she said a technician would come out July 4th! Xavier and Edgar came out. They were so friendly, approachable and professional. They explained what they were going to do and they were able to replace breaker in about an hour and a half. Upon completion they reviewed the work with us and now the spa is back in service! Xavier and Edgar were so respectful of the property and cleaned up like nothing ever happened. To this day I am so happy I found Mario Castillo Electric. We have always been happy with the work and the prices but most especially the technicians!! Thank you Guys!!! read more

We want to say a big thank you to William, Edgar, Geovany, and Victor for the outstanding work they did in our office to install new LED lights. I've been using Mario Castillo for over six years now, for everything from fixing a circuit breaker to diagnosing faulty wiring. Today, their technician, Edgar, came to a property of mine on quite short notice to install a weather-resistant CGFI outlet for an outdoor application. He was, like everyone at Mario Castillo, very professional and efficient. This remains my go-to company for all electrical work! read more

Received 3 bids for a sub electric panel for my house. The Castillo bid was $3,000 higher than two other companies. It's wire and conduit for crissakes, and only took 5 hours to install; Castillo bid $1000 an hour for labor?! Make sure you get 3 bids! read more

What a nice find! We wanted to update lighting in our kitchen. The old lights used fluorescent tubes. We wanted to investigate the possibility and cost to convert this to more current (excuse the pun) LED. We received a wide range of bids. The low bid was from a contractor who told us he didn't need to look at the area. Note that his bid was barely sufficient to cover the cost of the LED tubes. Remember, these new LED lights run about $50 (Lowes) each. The high bidder did come and check the area, providing clarity as to what would be done. They ended up nearly twice what Mario's quoted. Today, Marco, our technician, arrived on time, completed his work, cleaned up after himself, and even took time to listen to me tell a couple of stories. Marco is a great tech. You may want to ask for him. When future needs arise, he will be on my short list. Heck, he is the list. I only hope any future experiences will mirror today's, and I hope your experience is as good as ours! read more

Probably the best in the biz. Love everything about this company the level of commitment and details. My project lasted a year plus because of some inspection blockers but once I called again to have them come, they never missed a beat. Just look at their track record, no one beats them for a reason. They just continue to dominate this area because they have a good knowledgeable staff that is eager to help. I think they should get more front office help although Liz is holding it done for now but I can see them expanding soon. Geo and Mario thank you all so much for not just installing my panel but just being problem solvers and delivering on solutions even when my contractors couldn't figure it out.. read more

I manage a local family owned shopping center, and we had the most informative meeting with Geo from Mario Castillo! He was knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely helpful!! Without his input, we may have been hugely overcharged by another company that was recommending unnecessary work. Even though we didn't end up working together on this particular project (just due to timing), Geo will definitely have our future business & loyalty! We really appreciate the honesty & professionalism & wish more people would continue to do business this way! read more

I requested a quote and they told me to contact the city for a meter spot and then they could proceed. Went through 3 weeks of back and forth with LADWP and finally got the meter spot. Sent it over and an appointment was confirmed for today. No one showed. I called and they said they would contact me with an ETA. An hour later still no call so I called again. Sent to voicemail. They called to apologize saying they screwed up. At this point I was so annoyed that I no longer wish to do business with them based on this experience. This is based on the appointment and quote process. Have no idea how their work is read more

It was a pleasure working with all the staff from Mario Castillo Electric. They have been fast and very communicative and honest about everything. They are very professional and will text and call constantly updating with next steps and appointment updates. They also provide text message protraits of the tech arriving that day so you actually know what the person looks like before they arrive. Everyone has been very punctual and friendly. I had a panel service upgrade and a level 2 Tesla Electric car charger installed. I was misquoted at first because they accidentally did not include one of the required permits. However, They very quickly and professionally made me aware of the mistake and apologized. When they were this honest and willing to work with me on the mistake they made my choice to work with them a no brainer. They were willing to work with me on the price and they were very reasonable. The work was quality and the Car charger and panel look nice and passed all city inspections. They set expectations from the start so that there was never a opportunity for any surprises. I would work with them again and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Update: -1 star for their scheduling system. Having issues with their scheduling confirmation and getting a hold of them.

We have continued to use Mario Castillo Electric for a variety of projects - most recently, setting up a charger for an all electric vehicle, installing security cameras, and finally, figuring out why a light fixture had stopped working. The crews continue to be competent, clean, and on-time. An emerging downside is that the company is growing, so there is more "home office" overhead in that the left hand doesn't always talk with the right. Additionally, there is less human-to-human contact and more outreach by bots. As our Latin teachers once told us, many years ago: "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi." MCE still gets the job done, stands by its work, starts on time and finishes on time, and provides accurate up-front estimates of expenses. I'll easily put up with the growing pains and incessant automation just because it's so glorious to have a contractor that gets stuff done right. read more

Their policy is 285 flat rate IF they can fix it which includes everything. In the end Mario spent 5 minutes fixing some wires on the outlet (according to him). This is something I could have spent on electrician that charge $75 for and spend 5 min. Regardless, he thought the dryer is the cause of issue. Regardless no CONCRETE solution, still wanting to charge $285 dollars. I felt for his work I should give something, but no, they wanted $285. Spoke to manager over the phone, after a lot of back & forward, he said u don't have to pay. But I felt bad cause Mario spent some time so I'm like no I want be fair still pay him for his time. Gave him $80, the guy was sooo pissed didn't even look at me and just left.. Suuuper rude and unprofessional. So now my WASHER is setting of the breaker. Which means his diagnosis was incorrect, I lost $80, wasted 1 hour of my time and had to deal with that childish unprofessional behavior. Disappointing! read more

I sent out quotes for a panel upgrade after numerous quotes/estimates gotten I decide to go with Mario Castillo electric. I talked with Hernan to get things started on the panel upgrade. From the beginning to the end of this project was amazing the customer service was outstanding. All questions were answered. They handle all documentation/permits and gave ample notice on when appointments were set up they are very detailed with the job they do. On the day of installation Rudy Lopez was punctual and very knowledgeable on all things electric as the process went on I had questions and Rudy was able to help answer those questions with ease.
