I reached out to 5 vendors to remove my 65 year old electrical panel, and install a solar ready panel, along with a transfer switch to hook up my duel power generator (which I bought 2 years ago, talk about a major case of procrastination!) in case of a rolling black out her in Southern California. Got Light's Alma was rapid and complete in her communications, and they were highly competitive. Hector, the owner, was friendly and worked with me on the schedule. The job was done by Eric and Jay, who worked many hours on my older home. I couldn't be happier with their work. So a representative came through and I couldn't believe I needed to hire someone because I felt so stupid after he left. A little back story, my husband and I purchased a condo just over a year ago and things have been going awry since we moved in. So when something goes wrong, we automatically think the worst. Recently, an outlet in our primary room and the kitchen lights went out all within a week of each other. My instincts are to go to Yelp and get someone here as quickly as I am available. And that's exactly what I did (yes, I have homeowners insurance to cover but completely forgot). Got Lights responded to my inquiry and has the best price. We schedule an arrangement and someone come out came out when they were scheduled, so no problem there. I would recommend a few things: 1- have the reps put on shoe covers when they're walking into someone's home with carpet. 2- have someone who can communicate with the customers. We had a bit of a language barrier, luckily my husband speaks Spanish and I was able to call him. The rep was very nice, I just wish there was someone to assist before I called my husband to help with how much I owed. 3- Never turn down a job if it's within your scope of work. He helped me discover that a light switch behind the room door was a reason the outlet in our room wasn't working, so of course I felt stupid. But he wasn't able to assist me with the light fixture that had completely gone out and needs to be replaced. Luckily, I'm pretty handy and can get it done, but I would have paid him whatever his rate to buy the light strip at Home Depot and replace the light stripes. The only reason I didn't give them five stars it's because of that. We are thinking of upgrading our panel. I would call them again if that is something they do, I'll have my husband available next time. read more

Recently purchased a home and I wanted to upgrade my Electric Panel to 200 Amp from the 50 Amp box the house had installed. Hector came over and gave me a quick walk through of the process and estimate of costs. The entire wish list of items I had was: panel upgrade and relocation, troubleshooting various power outlets in the home that were faulty or non-working, install new circuit for garbage disposal in kitchen sink, new circuit for washer/dryer in garage, 2 new outlets in garage (one for automatic garage door/light and another for workshop), install 2 exterior plugs in backyard for lights/entertaining purposes and a motion light in backyard. While the list was long Hector mentioned being able to start on the job within a couple weeks due to backlog and finishing within 3 days. His team showed up on time everyday and was very respectful and professional when working on my house. They took their time to clean up after each day and ensure I wasn't left without power over night. The job itself took about 4 to 5 days to complete however and was extended by a minor inspector issue but not due to bad workmanship. A couple weeks since the repairs and I have no complaints. He was able to schedule his crew to come out within a few days and communicated well via phone/text. When his 2-person crew arrived, I was very impressed with their cleanliness and COVID-related precautions. We have had various workers in our home recently, and I must say the crew with Got Light Electric have been the most clean, professional, and respectful while doing their job. They wore masks and shoe covers the whole time, and spoke very respectfully to me and my wife. When going to their truck to get a tool, they would remove their shoe covers, then put them back on when coming back inside. These little meticulous precautions mean a lot as we all try to keep our families safe, and I am very grateful. When it came to the job, these guys were top notch. They carefully planned some advanced ladder placement skills to get up to the hard to reach chandelier. Once up there, they found the problem quickly and were able to fix it. I needed to have wiring done in my home garage to power a treadmill that continued to short when plugged to any outlet. Spent $6K with Got Light installing new ceiling lights and an EV charger. Alex and his team were very responsive initially. Once the work was completed and they were paid, Alex became totally unresponsive when I contacted him to tell him about an issue with the lights they installed. All 12 of our ceiling lights in the living room flicker and dim randomly and I've attempted 3 times to get a response from Alex and have heard nothing. If they don't respond to support their work, I will be filing a complaint with the state contractors license board and take legal action to get them to address this poor workmanship. In my mind, what makes a contractor good or great is how well they support their customers AFTER they cashed the check and are fully paid. Has Alex and the rest of his Got Light team stood by their work only a few weeks after they cashed their last check? So far the answer is no. The quote was all inclusive (200 amp panel, new mast, weather head, new ground rods, permits, and even the stucco repair and matched the paint perfect!) Everything done to code and passed inspection. I liked how they got the permits and contacted the utility. All I had to do was sit back and relax! They supplied temp power to a few items in the house( fridge, wifi, etc). I don't write a lot of reviews, but the service and workmanship from this place made me dig up my Yelp credentials after 9+ years to recognize them for amazing service and a fantastic job. They fixed my electrical issue (lazy wiring by my contractor...even I know to make a pigtail for downstream outlets) for not just the problem outlet, but Hector even checked other possible problem outlets and fixed those as well. This was not an easy task as our breaker panel was on the 1st floor and all the electrical issues were on the 2nd floor... in another building. He cheerfully trudged up and down the stairs to switch breakers on & off and then test outlets with no complaint. Even with my elderly father trying to give him advice (micro-manage) during the task. He even checked other issues our tenant had in another building that I mentioned offhand as an issue he could come back and check later. He said that as long as he's here he might as well take a look, and he was able to fix that as well, (re-wiring a burnt out breaker switch). Then when he gave me the bill I was shocked...at how low it was! I had to include a decent tip to make up for it as I felt I was robbing him, especially during Covid times. I called Got Light and they responded faster than the other two companies. I started with only wanting two outdoor outlets and a vented exhaust fan installed in the restroom. I added a new porch light to match the back patio light and dusk to dawn LED flood light for the backyard that I purchased the day before installation. They were very polite and understanding and will consider your ideas or dislikes and work towards an agreeable outcome. I will definitely use their service again. I will update you on the venting for the exhaust fan. My roof is fairly new; 2 1/2 years old so it was vented to the side of the house and because it's in the attic I can't say for certain, because I couldn't see for myself, that all the air is being blown outside or some maybe escaping into the attic where it could cause mold over time from long showers. I have used Got LIght Electric twice in the past 6 weeks. Each time they did a great job at my rental units, installing in two bathrooms, fan, heater, light combo units. One of these, the wiring at switch was a snake den of mismatched wiring from previous botched electrical work. They corrected the wiring. At the same time in other units they installed a wall light, dimmer and a ceiling light. I was very pleased with the quality of work. It took 2 guys quite a bit of time to install the combo units. They had to do some some light construction work to get these installed correctly, in addition to the electric work. I was very satisfied so I had them come back a few weeks later to install dimmer and two new LED kitchen lights. They were very clean during working both times. They put down tarps and plastic sheeting to minimize clean up. When they were done, they swept and disposed of the old parts and trash. The office let me know when they were on their way to the job site and they showed up during the scheduled window of time. I will use them again for electrical work.
