Top side collar rusted to the bolt/nut.
    Eve H.

Ted saved my bacon AND didn't make me feel stupid for not being as self-sufficient when I couldn't muscle or tool-out a fused outdoor umbrella stand post that was loose and I couldn't get off. Rusted solid, top and bottom. I had used WD-40, a sawzall, a bolt splitter, and even screwed into the cleft of the nut where it meets the bolt and sprayed in more WD-40 to loosen it up. I was out of energy AND power tools, and so put up a quote here on Yelp. He contacted me almost immediately, said he could come over within a few hours, texted me when he was leaving previous site, texted me when he got here, got right to it, removed the collar, bolt and nuts in no time (but I was relieved to see it was muscle work for him, too, so I wasn't a weakling...entirely). Can't thank Ted enough, and would recommend to others without hesitation.

    Broken kitchen drawer guide bracket.
    Andy R.

I called on Ted Felix's handyman services twice this past week. The first was to fix a broken kitchen drawer guide (after being turned down by a number of cabinet installers who I guess don't take small jobs). Ted made quick work of the task and left telling me to call him if I had any further problems. A few days later, I called on Ted to help me get a couple of bidets installed on my toilets. I had attempted one of them but discovered that the supply valve still dripped water despite closing it as tightly as I could. Ted recommended replacing the toilet valve, so I asked him to replace the toilet valves in all 3 bathrooms. While he was at it, he also fixed the sink stopper in my powder room, and replaced the hoses to my washing machine because it had been 5 years since they were replaced. Ted is polite, friendly, and was quick to respond to my text messages (responding within a few minutes). Thus far, I've been very happy with his work and customer service.

    Caulked over old, moldy caulking

I'd definitely not recommend this guy. The initial interaction was okay. He showed up and checked out the work on time. After checking it out, he'd said he'd check out material costs and get back with an estimate. Instead of doing that, he texts me two days later saying he's free and if he could do the job immediately, which was fine with me. At this point, it becomes apparent he didn't check out material costs since he was out shopping for the caulk and asks for photos (despite him already coming out to check out what I needed done). Didn't seem too bad, but I was busy in a meeting and snapped them hastily. At this point I ask the cost and he says $300 -- a bit expensive but whatever. He shows up a bit later and starts working. 2.5 hours later he informs me he's done. Job was a bit shoddy in the tiled shower, but I just wanted it caulked at this point and didn't say much. I was a bit irked also that he didn't test the caulk first to see if it matched the grout -- obviously it doesn't as seen in the pics. At this point he says the bathtub can be used in couple hours and the standing shower could be used 8 hours. He left behind the grey and clear caulks used in the shower which I ended up reading after he left. The clear one said an hour, but the grey caulking said don't use for 24 hours. Thought that was odd, but didn't think too much about it. Just to be safe, we waited 6 hrs before using the bathtub shower since we assumed he at least read that one correctly -- the pics show that it wasn't the case. The caulk started absorbing water and flaking off. I ended up texting him back the next day, and he seemed a bit standoffish about this, but said he'd come back later in the week. I texted a few days later and was ghosted. I'm going to need to re-do both at this point (3 months later) as he also caulked over old, moldy caulk in the standing shower. The new caulk already has mold/mildew seeping through. He also didn't redo all the caulk as asked.

A circuit breaker goes out in one of our rentals in Signal Hill on Easter Sunday, and so I send feelers out on Yelp to see who is even available. Not looking good. Only half of the electrical expertise even work on Sundays (16). And only half of those will work during a pandemic (8). And half of those on Easter Sunday (4). Ted quoted half what the other guys quoted. He got there in 30 mins to pick up the dead circuit breaker, and then buys the right one at Home Depot. He pops it in, and he's done within the hour. The job was so quick that he lowered the price. He updated me on every step. Communication was excellent. When I received the invoice, I realized that Ted was the one who serviced the same unit for plumbing and window repair about a year prior. Needless to say, we look forward to working with him on all our other units in the area now.

1: gaps around fan enclosure allow moisture into attic. 2: grill can't be attached correctly because the drywall is blocking on left side.
    Tony C.

Mediocre work + dishonesty = not recommended Last month we had Ted from the Response team install a bathroom ventilation fan. He charged $250 labor and & $134 parts. What we got is a fan that is not properly sealed around the edges--causing moisture to leak into the attic, and a loose grill that is always at the risk of falling down. This is all because Ted didn't bother to modify the opening in the ceiling dry wall. See picture. Normally we would call Ted and ask him to come back and fix it. But we can't, because Ted also overcharged us for the parts. We asked him to purchase a $134 fan at Home Depot. But once at the store, he called to say that another unit was more suitable. We agreed, but at the end he still charged us $134. A later online search revealed that Home Depot's price for the unit he bought is $89, not $134. Ted pocketed the difference. Would you ask such a handyman back? Innocent mistake? I don't think so. When I later ask for the receipt through texting (which I should have done before he left, my bad), Ted first responded evasively, then went silent. In short, exercise extreme caution when dealing with the Response Team. Or better yet, don't deal with them at all!

    New recessed lighting.
    Christopher N.

I had a cabinet fall off in my garage, we called several people to get quotes and to get it fixed. After no shows and ghosting in communications from everyone else, Ted showed up to check out the job and give me a quote. He actually showed up when he said he would and did the job properly. I work in the crafts so I know when someone is BS'ing and he did the job with integrity not cutting corners. I would certainly use him again and most likely will as I have other projects in my house. We just had Ted come back and do some work in our house that we had been putting off since we bought it. Half of the recessed lighting in our kitchen didn't work, we had some light fixture we having in our entry and decorative pole in our living room that we didn't not like. Once again Ted showed up 15 minutes early each day, was polite and did the work right. We will be using him again for sure.

The main guy, Irving was a blessing. He was customer focused, kept the crew working. He was always concerned about how we were dealing with the chaos around the 3 holes in our house, the piles of dirt in our courtyard. Always asking how we're doing. True asset to any company. Now the BAD...The actual plumbing work took 8 days. That in itself was overwhelming. To accomplish this work, the crew pulled up a portion of the luxury vinyl in the master bedroom, dug a good size hole, did the same in the master closet and a third hole in the guest bathroom. We understood why this was necessary. When the new plumbing installation was complete (8 days), the contract stated they would make sure everything would be put back the way it was before they started. It literally took 22 days before my 3 rooms were back to the original condition. The subcontractor they sent out to put the flooring back was not qualified. The plumbing company filled the holes and poured "some" concrete. They did not level it, which should have been the restoration company making sure of before laying down the luxury vinyl. We had 4 1/2 boxes of new planks for them to use if needed. As it turned out the flooring company removed more planks and made the restoration much larger than it needed to be. Consequently there was not enough of our flooring. After several calls to find our replacement luxury vinyl it was determined it was discontinued and none to be found. The Rooter Company agreed to let us pick a replacement flooring that we would be happy with. Since we were not happy with quality of work their installer performed, they allowed us to find our own installer. We did appreciate The Rooter Company making the situation right to our satisfaction. Was the company good? Yes as far as the plumbing repairs. Did they follow through with fixing the affected area in our 3 rooms in a timely manner, NO! My recommendation is before starting any work, get in writing a start & end date of all repairs. Make sure the subcontractors they use know what they're doing. I tried calling the CEO of the Rooter Company, I believe his name was Mark, left a message, would like a call back. He never called. Not good customer service. And for that reason, I will not recommend this company. Based on my explanation of our experience, it's up for you to decide to use them or not.

Devin was able to squeeze me in the same day, which I really appreciated given the circumstances. Within a couple of hours, Fabian arrived right on time within the promised window. He quickly diagnosed the washing machine issue, and what impressed me most was how attentive and flexible he was once he was on-site. I also mentioned a longstanding problem we'd been dealing with -- a shower that had been causing water to leak onto the concrete slab in the garage -- and he tackled that too. Fabian expertly diagnosed the source and cause of the leak. He even noticed the toilet was running and took care of that for us too. As he worked through the job and discovered new wrinkles along the way, Fabian was transparent about each one, checking in to make sure I was comfortable before proceeding. That kind of communication goes a long way. He worked efficiently, was professional and courteous throughout, and left the workspace clean when he was done. Pricing was fair and clearly explained -- and importantly, there was zero pressure to go for a bigger fix than what we actually needed. That kind of customer-first focus genuinely earns trust. From the initial phone call with Devin to Fabian wrapping up the job, the entire experience was excellent. Thank you!

In February of this year Mitch Clemmons had helped us with a partial clog in our second floor…read moretoilet. During this call out they were very professional and conscientious. That was a great experience. However, it would seem that their auger had punched through an admittedly corroded drain pipe which passed through our garage. The hole was punched through the top of the pipe so it wasn't actively leaking which meant I didn't really notice it until months later. I had called them back out to have a look and while I didn't expect them to pay for the damage outright because corroded pipes are just going to be fragile, I was hoping they would at least account for their part in the damage and lack of accounting for pipe condition considerations. However, the tech flat out rejected the possibility that his auger could have caused the damage. I asked him what could possibly cause the pipe material to break outwards, leave one big streak of leaking on the wall, and then never leak again. His response was just corrosion. I am not one to hold unfortunate turns of events on service providers, but the outright denial of responsibility is something I felt the need to say something about. They are professional, but if they damage something don't expect any accountability. Edit: I added a photo to show the length of pipe they claim could not be reached by the auger in their response. The depth of the floor and toilet plus the pipe would seem right around 6 feet. I invited them to unroll the auger and see how far it reached and they said they would charge me to do that! Really, you'd think you'd be itching to roll that out if it could prove beyond a doubt it didn't cause it by coming up way short, right? Ridiculous.

Brian and his sons (Brian and Brandon) are experts at their craft (plumbing)…read more My house is fairly old and I had a nasty leak underneath my kitchen sink. The sons were able to stop by my house on short notice to diagnose the problem and give me an estimate. As we looked at the state of the plumbing around my house, I confirmed my suspicions that my plumbing was in pretty bad shape and I opted to get a full re-piping job done, instead of an expensive band-aid repair. The very next day, they ripped out my old pipes and installed new PEX pipes with copper valves. The before and after is incredible. My shower's water pressure is better, my toilets flush faster, and my water softener system actually feels like it makes a difference now. Pricing was very fair and quality of service and work are top notch.

They went under our house to inspect everything, took pictures of our existing galvanized plumbing and cast iron drains, and walked us through what they found before providing a quote. That level of transparency gave us a lot of confidence. His pricing was very fair, especially for a full house repipe, and the quality of the work was excellent. The crew did a great job, worked efficiently, and left everything clean when they were done. Everything works perfectly and we're very happy with the results. We'll absolutely be using Brian and Brico and Sons for all of our plumbing needs going forward and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, reliable plumber.
