The 1 star is for a few reasons. Larry charged me $45 for materials. All of my items (5 glass dry-erase boards; 3 clear acrylic wall file storage shelves; and 5 towel hooks) came with the necessary anchors. I showed him the anchors in question before he started the work, and he said, "I have my own. Those look okay, though." The only material of his I know he used was his own spackle to put a thin patch over a tiny 2" x 3" area, to cover a very small hairline crack in the wall, and 3 of his drill bits which he said were ruined while drilling into thick wall tile. No way would these materials have amounted to $45! Second, when he arrived, I had asked nicely if he could please park on my driveway, as it is an HOA rule, and that my HOA is very strict. He had an attitude and seemed annoyed, saying that yes, he was parked on the driveway. After the job was over and I was paying him outside, I saw that his truck was diagonal, half on the driveway, and half off, encroaching on a red curb, creating a potential hazard for cars coming around the blind corner (my condo is the first unit on the first street by the entrance to the complex). After he left, my neighbor sent me this text: "The handyman gave me a look since I was pulling out when he pulled up, and he did park so weird. I stopped since I wasn't sure what he was doing. That's when he gave me a dirty look like why are you stopping? lol." Larry, she was just giving you space, because she thought you were going to straighten out your truck, rather than just leave it sticking out into the corner of the complex entrance like that. Third, Larry tried to charge me extra for something that was already in the original scope of work. When I said that I'd definitely mentioned it during my initial phone call. he honored the original quoted price, Finally, after he left, I noticed that he had opened the bedroom window all the way, and had left it like that. I don't think it 's respectful to open windows in someone's home without asking if it's okay. In the past, some of my windows have been easy to open yet very difficult to close. Also, what if I wanted to turn on the A/C, and didn't realize the window was open? With the window open, the deafening noise from the drilling of the bathroom wall tile was made needlessly louder to my neighbors. He was a referral through HomeDepot in Tustin to install a single glass shower door (walking in) which was bought from HomeDepot. The location of the installation was told to be in Irvine. The glass show door comes with the pre-drilled holes, one on the top and one in the bottom where the two hinges (top and bottom) go into. Therefore, the installation of such shower door is through those two hinges, and it is not that complicated, specially for an installer who always deal with glasses. So, when I spoke with Larry over the phone and asking for a quote, I was told $395 for the installation and I offered him $350 and he just hanged up and disconnected me without any explanation. So, we all know what customer service is all about and how a small business should be managed. I believe Larry was very aggressive at the first minute that we talked, and he seemed very unprofessional and aggravated. God knows where or not he was under any drug or alcohol influence, otherwise a normal person that does business and runs a small business will not have such behavior and attitude. I am about to write a report to HomeDepot in Tustin to disqualify this person for not serving ( I have our ATT telephone Transcription as an evidence). I recommend not doing business with this person and handyman construction company. Larry commented about my review of his business and he seemed desperate to comment and lie. When I called him, I never knew that this was his office and even he has an office (he is a poor handyman), and I never asked for talking to him directly ( now through his comments, he considers himself as an executive and office holder, sorry my poor handyman). I was never rude and being very gentle over the phone and like an ordinary customer asked for a quote and like anybody else wanted a better price (only $50 less, so, what is wrong to ask this question), however, he hanged up and disconnected me (this is called rudeness in America, specially from a small business). We called LC Handyman to install our new dish washer and remove our old one. employee Chris came over did requested job ($250). He did so in a timely manner and dishwasher worked great and he left. However after he left we noticed our faucet was leaking under the sink ever time you turned on the faucet. The water would pool under the sink immediately. We called advising of the issue. They immediately sent out Chris again to look at the issue. He said he must have accidentally bumped the faucet hose and the weight broke causing it to leak but since the damage wasn't from his work they are not reliable and it will be an additional $220 to replace the faucet plus the cost of a new faucet ($120). I asked the manager if it was possible to be discounted on the work seeing how we called them for one thing and they inadvertently caused another issue. He said it's not their liability and we should be paying another service fee for Chris coming out again. I wasn't even asking for a free service just a discount seeing how even though my faucet was old it was working fine before they came and they refused. Bad customer service. Now I will have to pay someone else minimum $160 to do the job and buy a new faucet ($120). So I paid them $250 and they cost me another $280 "Because my faucet was old anyway and bound to break". I hired LC Handyman to hang a chandelier. I provided an email to Larry with pictures of the crystal chandelier and existing junction box. I was quoted approximately $600 for this service. Larry and an assistant came out to hang it on Friday morning. To my surprise, he didn't install a new junction box with support against the joists of the ceiling. Instead, he removed the existing junction box and simply put up (2) 2x4's through the same hole and used 3 screws to screw the base plate onto the 2x4's- no junction box used. I don't know if the 2-2x4's that are up in my ceiling are in any way braced/secured onto the joists or whether they are just laying on my ceiling drywall. Time will tell if the $3,000 chandelier will come crashing down on my dinning room table because of a bad install by LC Handyman. If and when it does, guess who will be sued??? In addition, he couldn't figure out how to install the base plate for the chandelier so that the canopy cover would seat properly. Instead, he suggested to my wife that she go to a lighting store to look for a longer canopy cover to use in lieu of the one provided by the manufacturer. He nonetheless demanded full payment even though the chandelier was left on the living room floor with an improperly installed base plate. Shortly after Larry left, I arrived home and realized that he had installed the base plate upside down and within 3 minutes corrected it myself. Larry was notified and he came out to finish the install the next morning (Saturday). He came alone to install the chandelier (???) so he requested my assistance to lift the chandelier while he hooked it on a link. Before installing any of the crystals he requested additional compensation to do so. I obliged and we made a new deal. Again he couldn't figure out how to install the crystals. My wife apparently showed him how to do it after borrowing a screw driver from him. He proceeded to put on the crystals and then notified me that he "ran out of time" and needed to go but would schedule a 3rd day to finish the install. I didn't anticipate that he was intent on just ditching the job by leaving. To my chagrin, I received an email this morning from his assistant Wendy. She now claims that he did not figure in the quote having to install the crystals. How could that be?? Larry saw the boxes of crystals from the moment he first arrived on Friday. If he had misquoted the job, he should have said so before starting. He didn't do that. Instead, he insisted on getting paid in full. This is truly an awful experience. To boot-- by the time I finished this review- (or warning) I received another email- threatening to initiate collection action against me because Larry somehow thinks that he was working on an hourly rate. All I can say is-- wow! REBUTTAL- Larry you knew what the job was from the start. I I didn't tell you how much I would pay you- you set the price and I agreed to it, then half way through you asked for more. I agreed to the change. Then you skipped out on the job AFTER getting paid. That makes you dishonest. read more

I can NOT believe the lies this business owner is telling, although, it really should not surprise me. 1st, there has never been any fraud as ALL the work that was authorized by the insurance company was completed by a cabinet company except for the 1st job of putting up some dry wall and some plywood on the floor. Even then, the insurance company ONLY covered the drywall. So I'm not sure where he's getting the "fruad" statement from. The other work I paid for was out of my own pocket as I wanted to change/update somethings. I never once ask for 1/2 off or any other kind of discount. The only thing I can think of was when he quoted me an outrageous price and I said, I was thinking it should cost about 1/2 that... I was wrong... I had the work done for 1/5 his inflated price. As far a the credit card fees go. The owner told me to text his wife with my credit card info. There was NEVER an option to pay with a check or cash or I would have done that. As far as the invoices go. The 1st invoice I received was not even mine, the next 3 did not have my correct address, his business lic # and was not itemized. It took 5 tries with 3 calls and 2 emails just to correct the 1st invoice. The amount was $592, yes I know, BIG fraud potential. Hahaha Oh, and that included the fraudulent charge of $45 and the added (NOT disclosed 3%) (NOT 2% like the owner lied about in his reply. Seriously, I paid $1495 to this company. 3% is $44.85 2% is $29.90 He felt he had to lie about $14.95? Makes you wonder what else he is lying about? Regarding the "leak at the sink" 1st, the sink was removed over a week before this company was hired, so there was NOT a sink to have a leak. Hahaha I was capping 2 lines, like I stayed. I completed 1 line before they showed up, (2 hours early) and he held the pipe as I pushed the cap on. (Took less then 1 minute) I NEVER asked for help. Figured he just did not want to wait on me so he helped. His reply to my review was nothing short of deflecting HIS lack of character, morals and standards as a business owner. I feel compelled to let the Yelp community know about this handyman. I contacted him to install a mantel shelf on top of my fireplace. He was very dry when I spoke to him and didn't seem enthusiastic at all about taking on new business. I didn't let that get to me as most of all the Yelp reviews sing his praises as a great handyman. After our conversation he asked me to E-mail him pictures specs of the job, so I did immediately after him and I spoke. In the body of the E-mail I asked for him to give me a call or E-mail me the estimate and when he could schedule to install the mantel shelf - no answer. A couple days had passed so I decided to follow up, although I firmly believe I shouldn't have to be the one to follow up. Nevertheless I contacted Larry again and I asked him if he had received my E-mail and he was VERY dry again and said "Yes, maybe I think so." I then asked him to double check and told him I wanted to get the job done ASAP. He replied "OK." So I asked what the next step was. He said he was going to review my job description that I E-mailed and he would get back to me. I allowed for two days to pass and called him yesterday 10/19 - no answer. I tried to follow up with him again today 10/20 and again no answer. Larry seems like the type of Handyman that has to be begged to do a job and that's not the type of handyman I want. I was practically begging him to come put up the mantel shelf, I have been chasing him for a week, and now I'm going to begin looking for another handyman to work with as LArry is unresponsive and doesn't care about business coming his way. The LEAST he could do after having me follow up so many times, is tell me he cannot take on the work at this time. I would have looked elsewhere long ago, but he dragged me along for the past 9 days.
