Mr Fix It took a $8000 insurance job for replacing a shower in a manufacturEd home. the shower that was installed has a 1/2" gap in the door causing water to flood the bathroom. It's been six weeks with zero response on fixing the proble. I believe he installed a "second" shower the gap in the door is insulting. Mr fix it was very aggressive to get the job and impossible to get to have it fixed. Hired Mr Fix It to hookup a BBQ he charged me $95 he was here 15 minutes. To start up the BBQ rather than using the directions from the manual He advised how to start the flames in a way that is clunky and I do not get a full flame on any of the burners. If calling them back was an option, why the hell did I spend time going back and forth with you?? I told you it would take at least 5 hours (by my estimate). I gave you the run through of what I wanted done. I also gave you the dimensions of the room and what constraints there were. YOU told me no problem, you can handle it and not to worry. YOU are also the one who even asked if I had all the materials purchased and ready. So please don't make it seem like you had no idea what was in store and you only declined after "realizing" it was a huge job. You told me it would take time but it was a simple fix. B. We were not "in contact" for months. Read my 1st review. I contacted you ONCE for a completely different request. I even mentioned I went with someone else because of my own urgency - nobody blamed you for that. The second contact was months later and we were then "in contact" for about 2 weeks (not months like you claim). From April 12th to April 24th (the day you showed up with your unprofessional attitude) to be exact. My timing constraints were explicitly detailed out to you in these emails. If anything, you were the one that was disorganized with your schedule - at one point you promised to call if you could finish up with another and another time you mixed me up with an appointment you had with another client when we didn't even have one set. So please don't blame my timing constraints because I gave you days where I knew the entire day (and night if needed) would be open for you to work. C. You didn't make the golf comment because you don't even golf? Fair enough, maybe it was just a figure of speech but yes, you did say those words. Hence my disgust in your professionalism because you have every right to rest but you are the one who chose to take a job. Unfortunately, I can't prove what was said but you know I had my boyfriend with me that day as a witness to your behavior. In fact, at many points he was ready to lash out on you and your rudeness. So it is what it is but you most definitely said that. D. Finally, the most blatant lie! There are NO handicapped spots directly in front of my unit. On that Sunday (and most Sundays) the lot is completely empty with maybe 5-6 cars belonging to employees. You parked your truck in the middle of the lot. It was just your truck sitting smack in the middle of the empty lot. The whole row of REGULAR parking not even 5 seconds away from our unit was open but you parked away towards the middle of the lot. But that's besides the point, park wherever you want! The point is you were walking back and forth putting one screwdriver away and bringing back a measuring tape. Then you go back to put the measuring tape away to bring back ONE screwdriver again. And so on and so forth. You hung up a few frames and tightened a few screws. How incompetent are you that you can't foresee what BASIC tools you'd need and have them ready? Please don't make up lies about handicapped spaces as an excuse for your downright shady behavior. Please don't insult my intelligence. I might not be a handyMAN but I know enough to know what you did for me is not rocket science status fixes that require complicated planning and tools. Finally, one thing I will agree with on, you can't please everyone. I know this so very well as I run my own business. I know the value of my clients, I make sure that I can deliver on my promises, I don't promise what I can't be confident of, and I also treat their time and money with respect. I try to apply the age old adage of treat others the way you'd like to be treated. Cliché? Maybe. But it mostly works. And yes, even then, you can't please them. But you? You did the exact opposite so "you can't please everyone" is not exactly the phrase we apply here. Perhaps, I'm sorry? I apologize if I disappointed you because I misunderstood the scope of the work? Mr. Fix-It - Own up to your mistakes. If you have too much pride in you to do that, staying quiet probably would have been more beneficial. Gave me a half hour window for his arrival and came a few minutes early. Got right down to business and was very efficient and well equipped. Fixed a door hinge, a screen door and a yard gate, plus removed some old hardware that was stuck on a wall. Charged $75 for an hour of work. I don't know if he has a different price structure for longer jobs. Other quotes I received were $85-95 for 1st hour of work and $55 thereafter and $87/hour + $22 service charge. read more
