The doctor was excellent and explained my eyesight better than any optometrist that I've ever had. I had some minor adjustments to my glasses and they were done efficiently and with no problems. Two concerns. They're not the best on the phone. Sounds like a young kid. Second, frame selection was cool in the 1980s. I'd get my frames elsewhere.

The guy was going to have me wear these and walkout, only saying its a scratch when I questioned the obvious. Took 3 weeks for the new lenses. I was shown the old lens and the crack grew to an inch. This would have endangered my eye if wore these and didn't speak up and protect myself.

Everyone was nice and the price was affordable/super fair. The owner helped me pick glasses that suited my face structure but also was mindful of my budget. In addition, there was a promo for the contacts (buy 6m and get 6m free) and at the end, he even through in one-day contact samples as well. All in all, a great experience!

Thank you for always being friendly, patient and informative.

Wow -- I'm blown away! Dr. Au and his staff are AMAZING!…read more I'm such a chicken when it comes to anything involving my eyes, but from the very first phone call, the ladies at the front desk made me feel completely at ease, and even excited to come in for my eye exam. My husband and I came in simply because it was time for our checkups, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. We went in thinking we might need contacts, but thankfully we're at a level where they weren't necessary (yay!). The exam itself was thorough, efficient, and surprisingly easy. Even the dreaded air test for glaucoma, which I usually hate, was quick and painless. The paperwork was clear and easy to complete, which was such a relief compared to other offices where forms feel overwhelming or confusing (almost punitive LOL). I also loved the office ydecor. It's full of travel souvenirs and sports memorabilia, which gives the space so much personality and warmth. I really appreciate offices that feel personal and welcoming rather than cold or sterile. Dr. Au is truly exceptional. He's patient, funny, and genuinely caring. What really stood out to me was that he took the time to get to know us: our lifestyle, habits, and reasons for coming in, and offered personalized advice that actually felt doable. I felt seen and heard, which is honestly rare and so refreshing in healthcare. I just moved back to the South Bay, and I'm so happy to say I've officially found my eye doctor. Dr. Au and his entire team are the best. I'll absolutely be referring friends and family- highly, HIGHLY recommend!

I had a 4:30 pm appointment and as soon as I walked in, I waited about 3 minutes and they had called my name already. I was greeted by the front desk receptionist Silvia with a welcoming smile! I was then helped out by Micah who performed the preliminary procedures for my eye exam. He was very professional and took the time to explain what each state of the art equipment does. I was then seen by Dr Chad Shimazaki. Awesome optometrist. Very professional and helpful! He took the time to explain what all the results meant from my eye exam. He made me feel like I was part of North Torrance Optometry family already! Lastly, I was able to meet his father Dr Tak Shimazaki, the one who started it all. He was very friendly and welcoming. He was even doing some housekeeping to make sure the office was nice and tidy. Hands down I highly recommend North Torrance optometry to anyone looking for help with their vision. At the end of my consultation, Wendy who explained all the numbers and pricing to me was super helpful! I have nothing to say but positive things about this business! Very professional and great service!!! Highly recommended!
