From the start, Kylie and the Atlantic K9 team were amazing--professional, knowledgeable, and so caring. Brinley attended their two-week bootcamp, and I'll admit, it was hard sending her away for that long with no visits. We reached out the Atlantic at a complete loss of how to help our sweet Ollie boy succeed. They were nothing but kind, communicative and supportive during our initial conversations, and put us completely at ease about sending our boy to the two-week bootcamp, a choice that was incredibly hard for us! Ollie is a five year old Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix who went to training pre-pandemic and has always been incredibly shy with strangers. Before 2020, this manifested as leash reactivity and we were working hard at it when social distancing went into place. Post-pandemic, we tried every method we could find to try and help him with this, but despite all efforts, his reactivity increased tenfold to include dogs and small children. Sometimes he would he completely fine, and other times, he would aggressively bark and lunge at dogs and kids. It was so stressful that we started keeping him away from other dogs, and our small nieces and nephews to be safe. Ollie's alert barking additionally reached an all time high in the summer of 2023, and his counter-surfing was out of control. We decided it was officially time to get professional help. My husband and I want to start a family soon, and were terrified to think that Ollie's unpredictability could jeopardize his relationship with our future kids. His alert barking was creating a near-constant level of stress in our home, and we couldn't imagine how Ollie would be able to function happily or be involved as our family continues to grow. Throughout the two weeks of bootcamp, we got daily communication about Ollie's progress from the team and pictures of him playing happily during break times. Most importantly, however, K-9 Atlantic has completely transformed our boy, and given us the utmost confidence that Ollie will be the BEST big brother someday. He is literally like a different dog in all of the best ways. He's still our sweet, snuggly, silly boy, but without all of the incessant barking and sneakiness! His reactivity is now basically nonexistent, and he happily plays with our little nieces and nephews when they come over! He is a rockstar on and off-leash. We've even slowly integrated meeting new dogs in controlled settings, and he has been so very successful. He hasn't even counter surfed (despite us purposely leaving chicken on the counter in his reach in order to practice!!!!). Ollie's newfound confidence shines in his ability to meet new people and have experiences without all of the anxiety that he displayed prior to his time at K-9 Atlantic. He is the best version of himself, and we are so beyond proud of the good boy his has become!!! I don't know what magic the K-9 Atlantic team did with him while he was training, but we cannot believe that he is the same dog. He has been SO good, and an absolute angel while practicing. I reached out to Rich a year ago for help with my aggressive (with a 5 count bite list), reactive, 7lb chihuahua who was going through the adolescent stage (1 yr) and was impossible to housetrain (or so I thought). My dog loves HIS people but disliked ANYONE else and would not hesitate to bite. I was at my wit's end and knew I needed a trainer who, unlike myself at the time, was e collar saavy. I chose Rich to work with for a number of reasons. Firstly, he has the dogs with him in his home for the board and train-- he doesnt kennel your dog in a separate building overnight. That is huge to me! After speaking to a handful of trainers who incorporated e collars into training, I decided to give K9 Reset a try because not only was Rich extremely knowledgeable but he is kind and respectful and really took his time to talk to me openly about his process and protocols, to reassure me and address my concerns (regarding the misinformation surrounding e collars) and that essentially my dog wouldn't be harmed, and ensured that my dog would benefit from the training. Even as a trainer, I definitely had concerns because of the plethora of misinformation out there regarding e collars and anything that deviates from all positive/force free so I was cautious, but I was also ready for and needed change. Fast forward to today-- a year from my dog's board and train and he is a totally different dog! He is 100% housebroken, never has accidents in the house, he loves his crate and sleeps there every night- no problems at all and he stays dry all night long. I take my dog hiking and for walks and he is so well behaved that no one knows he's not friendly until I inform them (and that no, he doesn't want to say hello)-- he is calm and walks so good with me. He can walk by people or dogs and no reaction-- even children. My dog still isn't "friendly" to strangers but now he behaves so differently and so much better and calmer-- which is what I hoped for. As a trainer and owner, I want to express... it is imperative to follow through and continue the training after your dog comes home no matter where they train. Rich shares so much information regarding your dog and how to continue the training with them at home so you can be successful. I not only became a better owner because of Rich but also a much better trainer! At the go home session, I got to meet Rich's wife Sue and both of them shared so much valuable information and feedback about my dog that truly helped me to be more objective when I work with my dog. I owe so much thanks to them both. Rich taught me so much and anytime I have issues, I reach out and he is there. I also have a german shepherd and have done 3 sessions with Rich during times where I needed an objective opinion and effective help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate everything Rich has done and taught me-- his help has been invaluable! I know many trainers and have worked side by side with many--- Rich is truly one of the best trainers in the area!
