Sandy Paws also offers a BYOD wash, I think that's super awesome, although I haven't taken advantage of this service yet. Please be specific of what kind of cut you want for your loved dog! I read other reviews where people complained, if you don't specify, it does not help anyone's case. We usually get a puppy cut/trim for Chewie, I find that he looks his best like this. Anything shorter, he looks like a chihuahua LOL. Show the groomer a photo! Call ahead as they're usually booked in advanced. You'll quickly see why. They also sell a variety of treats, dog harnesses, poop bags, the works! After looking around the shop, and possibly grabbing a bite to eat next door, they'll give you a call and let you know that your little fur baby is good to go! We always get Chewie back smelling fantastic, tail wagging, and a cute little seasonal bandana. Our pup is happy, and we are happy. If you want a nice, clean, safe place for your pup to be groomed - this is the place to be.

I ended up going for the next choice which was a little further than I wanted but the reviews were good so I gave them a shot and boy am I glad! This shop is run by a sweet woman and her husband. They work super hard and do all the grooming themselves. Ozzi is only 18 pounds but he is a little tough. He's a darling little baby who's so sweet to me but super scared of strangers so he can be difficult to manage and easy out (I am unsure of his background but I presume he had some sort of abuse history...poor baby). He now has major attachment issues too so he's terrified whenever I leave him. I explained all of over the phone and they were very understanding. I took my dog in and when the male groomer came out I told him my dog doesn't do well with men. He was very kind and brough out his wife who proceeded to take my boy. I was hesitant but I let him go. only 1.5 hours later I got a call and my dog was ready to go! He was SO cute and had an adorable little scarf tied around his neck. His haircut was perfect and exactly what I wanted. He gave them a hard time especially when they tried to groom his behind (which he is really protective of) but despite all of this they did not charge me a "behavior" fee like some other places. They were SO kind and I really appreciate them taking the time to groom my skittish pup. I plan to be back as soon as possible!

I've gone here 3 times, the first time was better, but then since then they have charged more, done lower quality work, ignored requests (which is simply just a breed cut typically), and really don't seem to appreciate the business they receive. You can go to a chain like pet smart or petco and get a less expensive cut for better quality. On the positive, the location is good and they do have a nice retail section of the store with dog treats, toys, supplies, etc which are nice.

He is so excited to go in and is exhausted when he gets home (we get two days of peace because day after daycare he enjoys sleeping off his daycare hangover as well). He's made so many positive associations and friends through daycare; when we walk him he now runs up happily to dogs we've never seen before and are never surprised to hear that the dog is also a harbor hound! They do a great job keeping us updated through social media (Instagram stories) so I'm always confident he is safe, happy and having a blast. I moved to Boston in November and decided to send my dog to daycare and boarding here as it's close by to my home. Previously my dog was in daycare for years in our other city we lived in and he absolutely loved it. Immediately upon arriving to this location it is incredibly small. I believe they take the pups on pack walks so they're not inside the whole day. It's so small inside I don't see how they even have enough room to play. I started sending my dog here on Saturdays and I noticed he would start crying when we would turn onto the block. I'd drop him off and he would have a complete meltdown and I didn't understand why, as the staff here is incredibly kind. I also had to start traveling for work, so when my pet sitter couldn't stay with him I'd send him to boarding, which they'd transport him to their Roxbury location. It was like pulling teeth to get any updates on how he was doing. They don't answer their texts sometimes for a full day. I had to beg them to finally start uploading a report card just to know how he was doing or if he was ok. The lack of communication alone should have been a big enough red flag to stop sending him here, along with the stress he seemed to be under upon drop off and pick up. In January I sent him for boarding for a work trip and a couple days after I picked him up he got incredibly sick. He ended up having to be hospitalized for a couple of days and I paid almost $10k in vet bills. They said he likely caught something from another dog. Several months later, again after a work trip he now won't let any of my dog walkers approach him with his prong collar. I don't know if maybe someone at the Roxbury location handled him aggressively with his collar, but he's 5 years old and has been wearing this collar since he was a year and a half old. We have never had issues with it until I started sending him here. I have no idea if something happened to him at that location since their communication is abysmal. A couple of days after this, I saw a Facebook thread of a woman who sent their dog here for a simple nail trim and they gave her pup back with a popped blood vessel in its eye and said they had no video footage to provide when she asked. Everyone in the comments said that a popped blood vessel in the eye is a sign of strangulation, and people started sharing their terrible experiences about this place. This would make sense why my pup doesn't want anything near his neck anymore. I'm not sure why there aren't many google reviews, but there were hundreds of comments of people sharing their unsettling stories here. On top of the financial stress this has put me under, I've also had to completely change my work schedule to walk my dog since he doesn't trust any walkers anymore. I now have him in a harness and have been doing more training with him, but I've had to cancel all of my travel for work because of this. I've never had any behavioral issues with my dog until sending him here.
