I can not "NOT RECOMMEND" this place enough! I had used them once before and they did a good job but this last time I asked for a wash and trim. I wanted all the shaggy hair trimmed from his legs and underside. When I picked him up I was in a hurry to get back to work so I didn't take a good look at him(that was my mistake). After getting him home I realized that he had not been trimmed at all. So now a couple weeks later and $80 later he's a mess again. I've tried to call them about a dozen times but they don't answer the phone! So now I need to get him trimmed again somewhere else and spend another $80 or buy a clipper and try to do it myself. I will never use this place again! read more

Selecting a good canine hairdresser is just as important as selecting a hair dresser for myself. I've cut my own hair before and I also decided it was a good idea to groom my dogs myself. We didn't just take any old scissors and went to town. I did my research and bought professional grooming clippers, this was all in the attempt to save money. Even having the right equipment on hand we still butchered our American Eskimo's fur. Our 15 year old Fluffy looked like a lawn mower ran her over. I wish I were kidding. So to my review... I've been going to Animal Attraction for several years now, even before the DIY grooming "incident." They are always professional and do a fabulous job washing and grooming, and cutting our two American Eskimos nails. They smell heavenly after visiting Animal Attraction. The owner has been in business for several years and she has plenty of experience grooming dogs. When the dogs are groomed, rather than caging them like some of the larger chains Animal Attraction will let well-behaved dogs run around the main room and play. I've gone to a handful of groomers around the North Shore and Animal Attraction is the best by far-they are my go to groomers. Prices are average. Book appointments a week in advance, slots get taken very quickly. Oh and Fluffy's do is now fixed thanks to them! read more

I took my dog to 2 other shops before Animal Attraction & now we'll never go anywhere else! No other pet grooming shop has been so friendly and welcoming than Animal Attraction! Of course she was nervous when she was dropped off, but the owner Elaine picked her up & made her feel as if she were her own dog! She was ready within a reasonable time (unlike the other shops who kept my dog for over 4hrs!), & she looked absolutely adorable when she was finished!! Her nails were cut and she smelt amazing. I was out for my usual morning walk on a saturday, with my dog and stopped in to see if there were any available appointments for this saturday. The "receptionist" if you will did not understand that i had no appointment, and didn't call but was just seeing if there were any open slots to get my dog groomed. Finally, a woman who was actually was doing the grooming came over and said no there were no available appointments. Then as I was walking out she saw my dog was like "oh it's a pug, we can take him in". My dog is not a pug! I said great. I was told to come back in an hour and everything would be allset. So I come back in a hour and he only had is nails trimmed, which cost $25. What!! Poor service, high prices. read more

Let me start by saying Animal Attraction does a great job with cutting my mini doodles hair. What does frustrate me though is the pricing. It is different/goes up every appointment when I ask for the same cut each time. I would hate to have to leave Animal Attraction, but if it keeps going up it will out of my price range. read more

Do not take you dog here, unless your looking for a shave.I cant believe the shoddy work they do and then if your unhappy in any way they just blame you and yell at you. Apparently if you dog has a knot they shave him instead of brushing him out. The owner is rude and ignorant and neglectful. Bottom line is animal attraction is the worst read more

I have been going to Animal Attraction for 8 years and I couldn't be happier. My dog Bella that is a Boxer goes crazy the minute we walk through the door. No matter how busy the owners are they make sure to always welcome us and pay lots of attention to my dog. I have heard horror stories about a lot of groomers and I must say I 100 percent trust leaving my dog with them. I feel more comfortable asking there advise when it comes to my dog then calling the vet. They have a beautiful clean shop. Their prices are reasonable and they groom the dogs out in the open which shows they have nothing to hide. read more

I have been going to the groomers for over 19 years. She loves my dog like a baby. They do an awesome job with the cut on my Havanese which can be difficult. They are the best. I have been to many groomers who don't treat my dog well and shave my dog who has a long coat. My dog will get a little matted and Animal Attractions will take the time to brush him out rather than shave him. read more

My Himalayan cat, Lexi has been to Animal Attraction three times. The first time was for a lion cut shave. She is an elderly cat (17 years old now) and Elaine and Laurie suggested that I no longer shave her down, but keep up with comb-outs. The do, however, shave her belly for sanitary reasons. The second time I brought her in for a comb-out (first one after the shave) Elaine noticed that her coat is very dry. She suggested a diet change. I changed to ProPlan but Lexi didn't like it. So I kept her on Fancy Feast. This visit today, her coat has still not improved so I changed her to Merrick high protein food and purchased an Omega 3 chew from PetSmart. Hopefully this will help. Next visit is in five weeks. As far as Elaine and Laurie go, they are the best. Lexi really doesn't like the trip there, and she's not really a fan of being shaved, but Elaine and Laurie are pros and it's done and over with quickly. I recommend them to anyone who wants an affordable and professional team for their dog or cat. read more

This is the worst place to bring your dog. I brought my purebread Pekingese in with full hair asking them to keep it long, and they shaved him naked. He looks absolutely ridiculous, and they charged me 50 dollars. Crying on the way out, I was absolutley mortified, they yelled at me as I walked out the door saying they had no choice - he had a knot in his hair. My guess is they had other appointments and didn't want to spend the time. read more

I've been a customer of Animal Attraction for many years. Yesterday was my new puppy's first visit, and she did great. Elaine and Lorrie are so great handling the anxieties and reading the behaviors the dogs may have about going to the groomer. They're extremely professional and truly care about all the animals that visit their shop. I know my dogs are safe and well taken care of when they're there. Any doubts I may have ever had are wiped out when I see how excited my dogs are to go there. I know if they're happy and trust Elaine and Lorrie, then all is good!! read more

This place shaved my dog .... I understand that she was matted but her cut was so uneven and now that it is growing back it looks awful! They missed spots we did not want her to be shaved they were just too lazy to brush her out. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE ! read more

I've been a customer for a few years now. The ladies who run this shop are very friendly, and truly love dogs. They recently moved from Stoneham to Wakefield, and have a much nicer place now. I have an Australian Shepherd, and they do a fabulous job with him. I love the fact that my dog doesn't have to go in a crate, and can socialize with the other dogs. Although, they do have crates if needed. Their prices are reasonable for the quality of service that's provided. I'm a fan, and have recommended Animal Attraction to all of my dog-loving friends. read more

I've been going to Animal Attraction since August, 2013, when I became a dog owner for the first time. Bella, my Havanese, looks beautiful after every appointment. I have a busy schedule and the owners do everything they can to accommodate it. Sometimes I'm a little late picking her up, but Bella loves playing with the other dogs after her "haircut." One of my friends just asked me where she should go with her dog Sophie after another shop practically skinned her. I posted on Facebook in Wakefield Communtiy page looking for a groomer that would be good with a large puppy that is not happy with getting his nails trimmed. Many people recommended Animal Attraction. I called and spoke wiht Elaine and explained my situation, she recommended coming at the end of the day when most of the dogs were gone. She was great with our 70lb 11 month black lab mix puppy. She could tell he was nervous, she let me back with them, she tried to cut his nails with him on the floor, but he was going to let her. So she and Lorrie carried him over to the table and they let me come with them and in a matter of a few minutes he was done and much calmer. She gave him a few treats and he was happy. He was a pain and they were great at calming him down enough to get the job done. She recommended bringing him in more often and she even recommended just stopping by when we are out and about to get him use to the store. You can tell that they love dogs. read more

I am very particular about my dog -- I NEVER leave her with a groomer I don't know, but she's had the same lady for many many years and she retired... so I was in a bind... I called, they had a cancellation for the next morning, so I brought my little girl in. The place was very clean, and the people were very friendly. I'm not certain they read all my instructions or even followed them, but she was done in an hour and had the best cut she's ever had... she looked like velvet. And the fact they don't cage them, is a bonus !!! They were a little more than I've been paying, but I expected as much and it's still reasonable. I was disappointed with the cut my standard goldendoodle got. It's been hard trying to find a good place to get his hair cut because we do not like him to have a typical puppy cut and prefer that his fur just be all one length (guidelines that are typically thrown out the window once I leave). The first red flag should have been when the woman took him behind the counter and said she would call me when he was done without even asking what I wanted for his haircut! I had to ask to speak with the groomer and I made it clear I wanted the length be uniform throughout his whole body. After picking him and getting him home I inspected his cut and I found the fur on his head about one inch long and the fur on his legs about three inches. Not at all just one length! He looks like a pin head because his body is so fluffy and the fur on his head is so short! I'm very happy with how soft he is and he smells so good, but the cut is nothing like what I asked for. read more

they do a good job on my dog, but one of them in particular has a bit of an attitude. She definitely doesn't care if she makes you feel uncomfortable. and there were times when I've gone to pick up my dog and he's locked up in a kennel so that her dogs can run around free on the floor. read more
