Absolute WORST grooming experience and we didn't even get groomed! Our appt was at 1:30pm, we drove all the way from Sacramento and walked in at 1:32pm. The lady at the front desk was busy on a call and did not look up at us once. Until at 1:34p the groomer, Akiko Ascencio came from the back, looked up our appointment and said "you're late, we need to reschedule." AT 1:34PM. she then proceeded to be rude, nasty, and uncooperative. She told us she could cut our dog but it would take 5-6 HOURS. WTF We told her we drove all this way and we weren't aware of a late policy and were never told to arrive earlier than our appt. Nonetheless I didn't want to leave my dog with this nasty POS so we left and called the help line. Petco states their grace period is 10 minutes INCLUDING a phone call to make sure you're on your way to the appt. Which we NEVER got. No grace period and no phone call after being 2 minutes late. We gave Petco her name and they said they would be escalating it to upper management. Listen to the reviews and do not book your groom here ESPECIALLY with Akiko Ascencio. read more

For regular pet owners and humans, they treat their customers like THIEFS. Waited 10 min just to get help with dog food out of a locked up case, but only that one waa locked up not the other ones in that same brand. I will not be coming back to this one ever again. I will just feed my dogs bad food for a couple days until I can get some at my petco. read more

I made an online grooming appointment to take my dog and actually got one before the holiday then I went back to schedule another one for my other dog but now they were booked so I called and left a message. A short time later I got a call back from Jessica I told her what happened she said no problem I would just have to bring them in earlier that was even better! This was done even though they are so swamped! Jessica was the pups groomer she did exactly what we talked about and the boys look awesome! Is this place really a business? The managers are ineffective, the staff rude and inattentive. Folks wonder why brick and mortar stores go belly up. Because people are tired to having rude experiences when shopping. Then you'll all be unemployed. To top it off, the grooming is awful: the Petco staff lady screwed up my dog's hair on purpose because we got into an argument over her rude personality. For no reason. Could it be she didn't like me because she didn't like my red shirt or maybe she didn't like the color of my hair? Or it could be because I'm a minority. My family took our 5 month golden doodle here today to get a "trim"... the groomer only gave us options to cut her hair very short. They ended up shaving all of her luscious hair off. Whoever groomed our puppy did a TERRIBLE job. As a professional, they should know that naturally golden doodles should NOT be groomed this way.. very disappointed to say the least and we will not be bringing her back here again. The first time I brought my dog here was the first time that he had been groomed. After he had been washed and groomed by the wonderful Yady, I was impressed of how much of a good job she had performed. Ever since then I had kept bringing him to this location and assumed that all groomers would be immaculate as Yady was. I thought wrong. I noticed that the past few times I had brought my dog in, I noticed that they would miss a few hairs to cut on his legs and his face to be trimmed but it wasn't a big deal, until I noticed recently that I had made an appointment last weekend. The groomer that my dog had, didn't do a good job. Hairs were left uncut on legs and face. It was both left uneven and it seemed that she didn't care. My dogs nails were supposedly "cut" or trimmed down, all nails on his paws were left uneven and his face, in the mouth area was still dirty. Also I noticed that it took only 2 hours for him to be groomed and bathed when the first time it took 3 1/2-4. It seemed that if his appointment was rushed. Then I noticed when we had got home after picking up my dog, he had thrown up 3 times. They must had given him something, who knows. I don't think I'll be coming here to bring my dog in the near future unless it's with Yady. read more

Yesterday I went in to look for a toothbrush for my canine teeth because my werewolf society friends hinted that I need to brush my teeth and gums after our midnight society runs through the woods. So to Petco I go. It took me what seemed like three or so months for me to visit the place because the store is always an afterthought for me to visit mainly because of it's location. Located in such a place that it's clear view is only the freeway on ramp to exit the area. It's so bad of a visual location you'll see only two other yelp reviews. Most people don't go here because they don't know it's here and can only be seen from the street for those people entering westbound highway 120 from southbound airport way. It's an afterthought for most people who shop the nearby businesses that are done eating and are going home so shopping for their pet is placed on another day agenda. On the plus side the store is stocked with excellent quality products and the service is excellent. The store is very clean and the grooming services look immaculate. I never had a dog groomed but if I did this looks like a great place to go and have that service done. Vaccination clinic schedules can be picked up at the grooming salon. I took a few low quality pictures that don't do justice to the beauty of this business. Parking is easy as there are plenty of spaces and dining is nearby. The location is near restaurants and far away from Costco and a little difficult to find. Overall this Petco on Daniels street Manteca, CA is really a worthwhile place to shop and have pet services completed. read more

Came from Modesto because of better reviews... Today was my 6 month old Yorkies first grooming. I have heard horror stories and some of my pets in the past were mistreated during grooming at other salons so I was terribly anxious to take her to get her first grooming but she refused to let me clean up her face or paws so I wasn't left with any other option. She also suffers from terrible separation anxiety and is usually quite the dramatic little one. Brooke was AMAZING with my sweet girl. I was so worried about kennel time, etc., but they put her though quickly with enough time to give her breaks. I will no longer be taking my dog here for grooming. He used to do so well and would be excited to get a haircut, but the last time he had an appointment, I'm pretty sure the groomer traumatized him because as soon as we pulled up today for his next appointment, he absolutely refused to get out of the car and was shaking. I tried for 10 minutes to encourage him to get out but still he refused. Mind you, he's NEVER had this issue before. Went in today for the first time at this location. There were few customers but I ran into at least four employees, each who questioned if I was finding everything O.K. Very willing to help and always with a smile. Prices are higher than I prefer, but this location is near my house and easy to get in and get out. The store opened one month ago and is very clean and organized. I'll grab my regular pet needs at the other store I frequent, but I will return here if I'm in a hurry pge looking for something my local feed store doesn't carry. read more

Too much to even mention how crappy the grooming service is here. Don't take your dog here and find yourself a place that actually knows how to handle a dog that is scared and nervous. Literally my dog looks like a 8 year old cut it. Requested for back side private area to be trimmed short and that area wasn't even touched. Had my dog way longer than necessary. Bri called to say my dog was ready for pick up and was so rude and snappy on the phone with me, I just hung up. Then when picking up and addressing the hair on the back side they said they wouldn't fix it or take my dog back. Very disappointed today. I bring my dog Luna once every 2 months. Groomers do a great job. We are always met with a welcoming feel and leave satisfied knowing Luna is well taken care of. Today I paid $80, they didn't give her a spray spritz. When I asked about it the girl said "well I guess I can do it if you want me to" ITS INCLUDED !?. She went in the back came out with the spritz and give a half heartedly spray. Then I asked is there a treat bag we always get a treat bag, she said"we only do that when we have time" okay maybe that's not included, but it's the feeling they gave me while checking out. Lazy and rude tone. The groomer seemed nice when we dropped her so I still tipped her. I believe in tipping a server. Very disappointing, now I need to find another place to have her groomed!!! read more

My wife and I went and purchased 3 guppies from here the girl who bagged the guppies wrote on the bag with a pink paint pen but we didn't realize it until we saw all the pink flakes floating in the tank and saw one guppy had died already so back to the store we go. I get there and Jennifer waits on me this person is one of the nastiest people in retail I've ever encountered she didn't care that my fish were eating paint flakes she tried to blame me for the dead fish saying the water was warm I've been keeping fish for 42 yrs sweety the water wasn't too warm the other two fish in the bag were fine but I will never buy anything here again. Jennifer needs a position where she doesn't deal with the public if your that unhappy at work then it's time to go and this isn't the first crappy encounter with Jennifer! Update 3.5 hrs later and already lost the first fish probably from the paint flakes thanks! This place is GARBAGE. I brought my dog in for grooming here and pay almost $100 each time. I have no issue with the groomer, she called to let me know my dog has some problems and won't be able to give a haircut. I questioned the price as it was still around $70 without the cut. She was providing the explanation as I kept questioning and then this short round lady (I can't remember her name) says "you need to pay or you're banned!" I was thinking wth. Banned for questioning? I said ok, ban me. Then my groomer goes to get my dog and the short round lady throws in "You're banned from ALL Petcos and not just here!" Again I have no issue with the groomer as she was helping me with the explanation and honestly I was getting what I needed and would have ended up paying. BUT that short round lady actually really pissed me off. I will definitely be reaching out to customer services, corporate, whoever else I need to. We were in desperate need of advise about feeding our newly purchased ball python. It had been a month and he wasn't eating. I called to get some help with some tips or tricks on how to feed our snake frozen/thawed mice. In the past we fed our snake live mice and so we weren't familiar with this method. Jeff a fantastic employee helped us with tips and spent the time going over everything was very thorough. We didn't want to cave and go with live feeding again because it is so dangerous and cruel. Abbe in grooming is amazing! She's the only one who I trust with my dog. I have a 3 year old Golden retriever who get nervous. Abbe is amazing with her. She's worked hard with my dog to get her used to getting nailed grinded down and with the blow dryer. When Abbe first started grooming my dog it would a little bit of a fight, now it's no problem at all. She's loves your dog as if it's her own. If there is any problem at all you calls you right away, or even to double check on something she'll call you to make sure it's right. I recommend Abbe 100% for grooming. read more

2 days ago I went in to the new Petco in town. I guess it's not brand new, but it was my first time in this store since it opened within the last year. I was excited to check out their fish department. Aquatics are my thing and have been for years. I have several tanks and aquariums. I purchased 2 glo tetra for my glo tank, and almost bought 3 angle fish but the employee wouldn't let me buy them because they had fin rott. Anyways, I saw a pair of glo tiger barbs and decided to take a gamble on housing community fish with a couple semi-aggressive fish. After all, some aquarium owners are able to get away with things like that sometimes, especially when they have huge tanks like mine. Long story short, it didn't work out. Today I brought the glo tiger barbs back into the store for an even exchange to the regular glo tetra, plus I was going to get a couple extra. Jon the store manager approached me. I pointed to a healthy looking pink glo fish, he netted a different one with obvious fin rott. I pointed and asked "Can I get a different one, this one has fin rott". He responds with "None of these tanks have fin rott" and asks what fish I'd like next. He had no idea 2 days earlier his employees refused to sell me sick angel fish with fin rott only a couple spaces down. Once we got to fish number 6 he tells me not to buy more then 6 fish at a time as it will shoot your nitrates up. Like he knows exactly how many tanks I have or what I've got going on at home. I didn't listen to him and continued picking my fish. I bought 8. He was irritated I didn't want his advice. He was irritated I didn't listen to a damn thing he said. He told me I needed to buy this, and this, and that. Like I had only bought tanks and not equipment. I told him I already had everything I needed. He looks at me and says "Oh I'm sorry are you a chemist?!" Immediately I respond with "Um are you?" He holds his hands up and says "Welcome to my store." First of all you work at PetCo. That doesn't make you a marine biologist especially with the wrong information you were giving out. That's exactly how you lose paying customers. You wouldn't trade the fish with the damaged fins. You didn't want to sell me more then 6 fish (losing your company money) You were very rude. You talk to people like your emperor to them. The customer is always right. You have the worst customer service I've seen in a long time, shame your the store manager. I feel sorry for your employees, if you treat your customers like that. I spend 1,000's of dollars on fish and equipment every single year. This hobby is not cheap in the slightest. However, my money will not go to this store again, because of Jon. read more

The grooming department manager Jennifer was very rude and unprofessional. We took our dog who was very dirty as we had just picked him up from boarding. He had a discharge that was not an infection. They first rescheduled asking us to take him to the vet. The vet told us it was not an infection. I called Petco to inform them. At the time of call, no one told us they needed a doctor's note stating it was ok for us to bring him for the grooming appointment. When my daughter brought him for the appointment she was asked to provide the note for which she had to wait over an hour. One of the employees even made a comment pretending to talk to our dog saying, "oh you would be so mad since you are so dirty". After the note came in they still made her wait another hour. They wanted the doctor to write a note to Petco telling them it was ok for them to bathe him. And once they were done with his grooming the face was not even properly done. It looks like he was nicked at several places. We paid $91.00 was this shitty job. I wish my daughter got the name of the groomer. Ridiculous! I call it harassment. read more
