I have a Tibetan Spaniel that gets really matted fur after a while of not being groomed. He always looks so clean and his cut always looks very good! I've been bringing my dog here since 2017 and while I've never been blown away by the service, it hasn't been bad enough to go anywhere else. That is, until this week. I really hate leaving bad reviews for small businesses but I had already talked to the owners about how someone shaved my dog's ears and the hair never grew back. Now she has short ears and doesn't have the beautiful face she always had. They kind of shrugged it off and said something like "that happens." Anyway, I wasn't complaining to them because I'm not sure who did it but I wanted them to know I didn't like her hair shaved and I wondered if there was anything that could be done about it. So, I brought my dog in to be groomed. Her hair was getting long, NOT matted, just long, and she desperately needed a bath. She is a Havanese so she has hair and not fur. It looks beautiful on her tail when she runs or wags her tail. My husband picked her up and when he got her home, 3 of us here all said in unison "WHAT HAPPENED TO HER TAIL??" They shaved her tail and it seriously looks like a rat's tail. I'm so filled with emotions, anger, frustration, sadness; I just can't even find the words. All I know is that I will never bring her back there again. Especially after we had the conversation about shaved ears. They've been grooming her for 7 or 8 years!!!!! What happened???? read more

Note: I did not receive services for my pet(s). This is about customer service. I have never been here before. I had called several times to this place and no one ever answers. I did leave a voicemail once and didn't get a call back. My usual groomer missed my appointment and could only make up for one today. My other dog desperately needed to get at least his nails trimmed. I went to this salon hoping that I'd have better luck in person. They have two handwritten signs. One sign says "closed due to Covid". The other sign says something like ring the doorbell please be patient it could be a few minutes as we are busy. So I rang the doorbell twice and waited but no on was coming. I tried to peep through. The lights were off so I was confused if they are still servicing or fully closed. Then I hear a female voice say: we are CLOSED. Her tone of voice implying that I should obviously know. I found it rather rude given that they have the aforementioned signs. If in fact is fully closed, remove the ring the doorbell sign. read more

We just moved to the area and decided to come here to get our dogs groomed. They looked great, however, they put a bow on our small Pomeranian. Usually I love that, but not this time. My Pom will usually take off her bow within a few moments of coming back home, but every time she went to try, it wouldn't come off. I went to take it off and realized that they had used hot glue to put on the bow. Hot glue... on a small dog. HOT GLUE?! I had to cut it off and now there is a spot on the top of her head. Maybe consider switching to rubber bands. read more

I would rate this business as less than zero if that were possible. I dropped into the Dirty Paws Pet Salon today and left totally understanding why the word "dirty" is part of the name. The proprietors treat people like dirt. I went to Dirty Paws for the sole purpose of offering them a donation of pillows, towels and bed linens. Because I'm getting a new Sleep Number 360 Smart bed, I'll be replacing my old sheets so I thought that a dog groomer and their doggy clients might enjoy such a donation. I say they're dirty because of the treatment I received. They pretended I didn't exist. Two woman behind the counter, whom I'm assuming were the owners, stood no more than 15 feet away, looking right at me, but they just busied themselves, avoiding eye contact. They didn't even acknowledge my presence. It took me a few minutes for it to register what was going on. Blatant racism!!! I'm older so this sort of thing has happened in the distant past, but never this blatantly!! There was another customer present too. He looked at me like I had 2 heads. I don't; just black skin. It was the creepiest, sickest thing ever. I had to ask myself if this was California or the deep south. I was a liile stunned, but of course once I processed what was happening, I left. Again they never said a word. It felt like they were holding their collective breath, willing me to leave. Your dogs might come out clean after keaving this place, but think about the stench you might be left with. Avoid the stench of this hateful place at all costs. By the way, lest you're giving them a pass, thinking maybe I brought this treatment on myself, somehow, I'll just say that I'm a retired librarian. A well-educated, upper middle class, senior, non-threatening woman. I was dressed in average, casual clothes and entered the store with cheer in my heart. It was not me. It was them. I'm doing this with a heavy heavy heart. For many many years I have taken my dog here. There was one time when I walked in and a worker was shaving a bigger dog. The dog must have snapped at her but I walked in on the part where she hit the dog on the snout with the clippers. I didn't say much because I know the workers or owners or whoever they are bring in their dogs so it may have been her dog. Strike one. The next time I took my dog there the place was filthy- like it hasn't been dusted or vacuumed or aired out in a year. Strike 2. This final time I had my mom take my dog there because I moved into another city but I wanted my dog to go to some place familiar. They could not find our appointment, and while sitting there talking to my mom the lady mentioned the last time I was there was February- you know right before the WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC hit. My mom mentioned I had been busy- I moved, I had a baby- all while my husband was deployed and we were dealing with Covid-19. This lady had the audacity to say- yea that's the problem- once people have kids they neglect their animals. Strike 3. Take it for what you want, but I will not be taking my animals back to this place. One more thing- when my mom went to pick up my dog- there was a gentleman sleeping on the couch with barking dogs. I take him here or at the Barking Lot in Stockton. I brought Rascal back a couple weeks ago to this place because when I brought him last year I was very satisfied, (his picture is above, the dog laying down). But this time, I was very disappointed with the service and his cut. I called around 9am on a Saturday and was given a 12:30 appointment. Dropped off Rascal and said it would take about 4 hours. She asked me what to do: summer cut, don't cut the ears or tail. Then asked if I wanted to have his ears/tail trimmed and I agreed just a little bit, just the ends. 4 hours come by, no call yet, since we were in the area, we dropped by. Rascal was in the kennel, bathe but not cut yet. I told her I had to be somewhere by 5 and was told he'll be ready by 4:30. I had my son picked him up and when I got home, I was very disappointed on what I saw. You could see his cut was shaved unevenly, his ears was cut 2 inches and tail was cut by 4 inches! I called them back after the weekend and told the groomer I was disappointed of the cut and how it was very uneven! She said they had over 20 dogs and was very busy, she offered to clean it up if I brought him back. I live in Stockton and I have no time to go back and forth! The point is, why book so much dogs to groom if you cannot give the quality of service instead of quantity? What's the use of an appointment if he would be kept there the whole day? I don't know if I will be back to this groomer again. read more

I was able to get an appointment in a week, which was helpful because I was dog sitting my daughters dog. They did a fabulous job grooming Neko, who is a Papillon Chihuahua, and is temperamental. Neko has never played with other dogs and I was shocked when I picked him up to see him playing with a bunch of other little dogs. I was so impressed! Neko looks fabulous with his new hairdo and I couldn't be more appreciative! They gave a great way with dogs! read more

Cuts on the underbelly of my dog-the owner was extremely rude/bad attitude when I showed her the cuts, she told me to never come back. It was her cutting my dog that caused an expensive vet bill that day. I know accidents happen from time to time,but her attitude was not good customer service or proper handling of the situation. Some of the nicest people you will meet and they do a really good job for a reasonable price. As a regular client they are always willing to work with my schedule to get my dog in and she loves being there. One of my favorite things is that the dogs they know well have an area to hang out with the other dogs so they are not in a kennel when they are not getting a bath. My dog loves to socialize and it's a nice spa day for her to get cleaned up and hang out with some friendly dogs. read more

I took my small dog to get groomed. Was told it would take about 2-3 hours, which is understandable. However, it took them 5 hours to groom my dog. I told them that I needed my dog groomed asap because I had plans for the day, which is why I took my dog early. They also charged me an extra $10 because my dog was "difficult". Which isn't something I can control, so I don't get why I was charged extra. So if you have a "difficult" dog just know you'll be charged extra. Lastly, my dog usually gets in the car and is excited. However, when my dog got in the car, she just laid down, which shows me she didn't have a good experience. Her hair cut was a bit patchy. read more

Where do I even start? I'm not one to write reviews but to me this is ridiculous, first off I brought my cats here to be groomed and they have the dogs out and right by the cats just chillen, which is fine I love dogs but sometimes dogs don't love cats. Second, I drop my cats off at 930, four hours later I called to get an update because the first time it only took about 3 hours to shave both cats. The phone call went unanswered so I drove down there, one lady was working on groomin a dog, the other was sitting in a chair eating. Why my phone call wasn't answered or my cats weren't near being done, I'm not sure. I asked if they were almost finished they said an hour and a half more. When I got home I called again twice, still no one answered the phone, so about an hour an half later went back and got the cats. Finally done, the cats cut was just ok they left a lot of loose hair all over them which left them shedding hair every where. One of my cats who is usually so sweet is now acting scared to death and timid, hissing at me and hiding. Idk what the hell went on there or why it took almost six hours to shave two cats but I definitely will not be returning there. read more

Not sure why people gave this place 2 or 1 star but if you look, that was 3 and 4 years ago. My regular groomer couldn't take my dog and she was in dire need of a cut and bath so I called Krista at Dirty Paws. I knew nothing about her salon but saw it just passing by. I'm so glad we took a chance. It was like taking Kimba in for a visit with friends. There were dogs sitting on the sofa and walking around visiting with other dogs, but there were definitely dogs in crates (I'm told these were the ones who didn't play well with others). I was especially concerned about the way she would be shampooed, having heard so many horrific stories about dogs being hanged when they jumped or fell off the table while not being supervised. I was very happy to see that they were watched and that there was no safety issue. When I picked her up, she looked beautiful! She was obviously happy with her new cut and you could tell she felt so much better. I love this place! One of the complaints I've read is that they have voicemail.. ok, so they do. So does my doctor. So do a lot of other small businesses. So what's the problem? If you leave a clear message, you'll get a call back. I've never had a problem. And the staff has NEVER, ever been rude to me or to my dog. Do yourself a favor, don't believe the negative comments that were written so long ago. I don't know the situation back then but I do know what it's like now and I love it! They also have Doggy Day Care.. great idea! read more

Best Groomer in Manteca! I moved here 6 months ago from Fremont, whereas my dogs had always been groomed by our groomer Cathy at VCA for years. I thought for sure i wouldn't find anyone comparable, I was so wrong! When I called, Curtis booked me an appt that fit MY needs, and was very friendly and efficient. Durring our appointment not only did Christa groom them beautifully, they got to play and have fun (no cages) and her prices were great for the experience! This review is based purely on customer service and the way they run their business. I called on Saturday Dec 21st and asked to make an appointment. The lady who I spoke with told me that the only appointment they had was for that Monday. I told her it's perfect because it's right before the holidays. Come Monday, I called because I had forgotten at what time my appointment was, and to my surprise the lady who I spoke with told me I had no appointment. I disagreed and told her I did. She kept denying it until she finally told me that If I can make it by 1pm she would take my dog, but if I didn't then they couldn't because they were 'SUPER' busy. I told her that if she had absolutely no time then I'm not going to drop off my dog so they can do a half-a** haircut because they were in a hurry. She then proceeded on telling me that it would be okay and she would make an exception. So I pull up at around 1,and spoke with the same lady I spoke with on the phone a couple of hours before. Well, she told me she had no more room for my dog. She actually booked a different dog instead of my dog. Even though she told me she had absolutely no room and she was making an exception for me. Last time I checked, someone's word meant something. I can see that doesn't apply to this place. I really wish it would've been different and I would've left a more positive review because I like to support small local business, but they apparently didn't want my business. read more

Great salon in town! Better than the big pet store alternative. I love the fact that they dont put your dog in a cage, the dogs hang out with each other while waiting to be groomed. We dropped our dog off to be groomed at 9:00 a.m. They told us she would be done by noon. She is a fluffy, white poodle mix. She has pink skin with brown spots under her fluff. We asked the groomer to trim her but not so short as to see her skin. So when 1:30 p.m. rolled around and we hadn't had a call from them, my husband went to see if she was ready. Well, they were just finishing her up and to his horror, and later mine, she was shaved all the way down to her pink & brown skin! They told him she was very matted, which is not true. He brushes her every day. And they told him she was very mean and difficult, which is also hard to believe since she is a very sweet dog who gets along great with people and other dogs. Makes me think she was grossly mishandled if she behaved the way they said she did!? At any rate, I believe if our dog was as matted & difficult as they proclaimed, they should have called us to let us know they were going to shave her down and let us decide if they should go ahead or not. We DEFINITELY will not use this groomer again and pray they haven't traumatized our fur baby against other groomers! read more

My parent's cat was in serious need of haircut! She has very long hair and there was alot of knots and it was very matted from her playing outside. I knew that she needed to just be shaved so she can just have a fresh start with the hair. I called alot of places and was very surprised that it seemed to be such a problem to groom an older cat with knots in her hair! Some places apparently have an age cutoff which I find ridiculous but whatever. After calling a bunch of places I finally found Dirty Paws. I made the phone call and explained the situation. She asked me a couple of routine questions and scheduled the appointment. I was so relieved that finally I called a place that did not make everything so difficult. It is important to me because I want the best for this cat. We got her when I was a teenager so there is still an attachment. It's a small little place but it very clean and well kept. I felt very comfortable with leaving her there for however long it would take. The girl working there was very nice and very understanding of the situation. Oreo does not like being in a carrier so she was yowling when I brought her in and I thought that might a concern for the groomer but she was unfazed. She said she would put her into a bigger crate and allow her to calm down before working on her. Since it was such an extreme case it took about 4 hours and when she was ready I got a phone call. They did a fabulous job on her.They basically had to cut out all of the knots and then brush what was left and then shave her. She left the hair on her legs and explained why they don;t shave the legs and I thought the was nice of her to explain everything. Of course her face isnt shaved so now she has a fluffy little face and a shaved body. She looks so cute but more importantly I can see the difference in her personality. She seems to be much more comfortable now and she loves to be petted much more than before. I am very happy with the service I received here. I highly recommend Dirty Paws if you are lokking for a groomer. read more

This is my very first experience with a dog grooming establishment, so I really have no basis for comparison. However, I did call around for prices, and Dirty Paws was $5 to $15.00 less than other places. I was concerned that my dog had an anal gland issue because I could not wash her bad smell away. They found that Zoe had hair wrapped around her teeth that was creating the terrible odor! I feel like such a bad dogmom. Lisa and (don't know the other employee's name) were great... They shampooed Zoe, cut her hair, nails, cleaned her anal glands AND removed the hair from her teeth. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more
