This seems like a bit of a repetitive review. The good: Very clean. Very nice. Great hours and availability. The docs seem to know what's going on. They have a lot of staff on hand and specific prescription food. Their response for prescriptions to send out to Chewy is also very fast. The bad: Most of the time I call and they answer and ask me to hold (unless it' an emergency). I hold and hold ... and HOLD. In fact I have held sometimes over 20 minutes and nobody every comes back to help me. Just because it's not an emergency and I am willing to hold that does not mean FOREVER! After you help your customer in line then it's my turn please. Oh also, you had better have a LOT of money because this place will not start with the basic things. They immediately head right to the easiest way to make as much money as possible. Cat got a wheeze and lost a couple pounds? Let's run bloodwork for $650. That all came back fine? Oh ok, then let's do an Xray for $650. All clear there? Doc basically refuses anything else but an exam of the GI for $750. We pass on the GI test and the breathing get's worse. Call back and now they want to start the process over again with chest Xrays for another $650. How about starting out small and do some steroids or an antibiotic first? I guess that's not going to make them enough money. Imagine going into a doctor and saying you have a fever and a cough and they immediately send you in for Xrays and bloodwork and CT scans and an MRI just for the hell of it. Hey Jules ... They just take advantage of your love for your pets and pull out insane amounts of money for no reason, we paid near 3k in our cat for them to deny re-prescribed medication because they wanted to "check him one more time" other 700$ just for their fun. We've been bringing our dog Epic to Jules Veterinary for the past few months as she battled cancer. After nearly 12 wonderful years with her, we were faced with the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. From the moment we scheduled the appointment, Jules' team was kind, sincere, and incredibly accommodating. When we arrived, someone quickly guided us into a private room, giving us the space and privacy to say our final goodbyes. You could feel the empathy in the room -- the staff genuinely understood how painful this moment was for us. Epic wasn't just a pet; she was part of our family. If I could leave zero stars, I would. After trusting this vet for years and spending thousands, I brought my dog in for a mouth infection. They told me they were 99% sure it was cancer, which led to over $4,000 in charges -- including screenings for his lungs, heart, kidneys, and bladder, even though my concern was only his mouth. Test results came back showing it wasn't cancer. The issue briefly improved, then returned just as bad. When I brought him back, they told me I'd need to pay again and then refused to see him altogether, saying it was unrelated -- without even looking at him. I was respectful the entire time. Their actions were unprofessional, exploitative, and dismissive, especially after the money I paid and the trust I gave. I brought in my cat (almost 4 years old) for an echo on her heart with a cardiologist. I was told they wouldn't have a cardiologist in for two weeks and that if I was concerned I could go to the emergency room. I took the appointment two weeks out and waited.. But on the day of the appointment the cardiologist wasn't there and I had done the echo with a radiologist instead. I didn't realize this until after the appointment, but the scan had already been done with the radiologist and was NEVER reviewed by a cardiologist. She has been diagnosed with HCM by my doctor that reviewed the results after, and I was told it could be pretty severe (as bad as only having 12 months left in her life!) Not only am I distraught with the information, but I have to wait an additional 3 weeks elsewhere to have her results viewed by a cardiologist so we can work out an actual treatment plan. I am just hoping the medication she was given will keep things from getting worse so my cardiologist can tell me how severe her case is and what we can do to give her the longest, healthiest life we can. Worst news of my life and I felt little to no compassion or help from my vet, just dumped info on me with nothing else to do besides "go see a cardiologist at a different vet" and good luck basically. The only positive is that the results were quick and I was able to get medication next day. EDIT: I had my kitty's results looked at by another vet and they reassured me that the damage to her heart is moderate and the medication will be a good preventative to further complications that aren't currently present. The clarifications calmed me down a bit and I was given a lot more hope for the rest of her time here. (She could live a lot longer than was previously relayed to me) I wish Jules communicated the information more compassionately to me and gave me hope. I understand they don't want to be blamed if anything unexpected were to happen, (given HCM being unpredictable) but completely crushing a pet owner's hope for their pet's health is unnecessary to defending your practice. I have been well informed now and I have a better understanding of the next steps to take for her thanks to my vet she usually sees. read more

I intended to take both cats at the same time, but had trouble getting one in carrier, so they allowed me to reschedule that. It's truly unfortunate that they seem to be focused on taking every last penny from you, and sadly, my experience has been similar. I had an incident with my dog, and they wouldn't take her in, so I had to seek help elsewhere. I have all my dogs registered there, and to remove her sutures, I was told I needed to pay $69 for the vet to do it and examine her. The other hospital I took her to was a bit far, but they mentioned that any clinic should be willing to remove sutures without charging extra. I will probably will be moving all my dogs to different vet. read more

Their is not much she can't do. She's very conservative in her treatment. I recently had to put my Saint Bernard down. It's always hard when this happens. Nala grew up with the staff at Jules. They are all like family to us. I know a lot of people say they are expensive but I have two things to say about that. 1 you get what you pay for and I would want my babies to get the best treatment, and 2. I have used Jules Veternary services for two very important procedures for my very well loved and spoiled chiweeni. The first was for cancer removal during Covid. The staff was so amazing, caring and communicative, I couldn't have asked for more. I was so scared for my baby. And it was a tough surgery but the Jules staff were amazing and my baby healed well. And most recently, dental surgery where all teeth were removed and two fistulas were sutured up. After they diagnosed her with a heart murmur, kidney and Liver issues that my local vet didn't diagnose. They were confident that the dental work could still be done. I was so anxious to have her back in my arms that I didn't notice till today that they trimmed her nails while she was "sleeping". So appreciate their kindness, extra services, and complete compassion when a mom cries when turning over her baby to their care. No judgement, just compassion and understanding. They took the time to explain home care, sometimes needing to explain it two times because I was so emotional and didn't comprehend the first time. Again, always with compassion and care. Wow, where do I begin. I've never had a great expericence with Jules from the vet side of things as far as customer service goes. The front desk workers are almost always rude but this most recent experience with their grooming services warranted a review. I am so very disappointed regarding how my dog was treated. I've taken him to numerous different groomers in the past four years include Petco, Petsmart, and independent groomers and never have I ever had such an awful experience. I called in for a last minute grooming sesh for my pup and they took me right away (great) as soon as arrive, I had to sign three pages worth of paperwork (ok, not a problem but weird). The groomer (Anjie) took him in stating that it would take up to 3-4 hours for grooming. This should've been my last red flag but the reasoning made sense at the time since not all dogs like the drier. Almost 4 hrs later, I roll up to Jules Vet at 1:22 and I get turned around by front desk staff bc "we are on lunch till 1:30" ok but I'm here for grooming, still I was turned around. So I walk back to my car, get in and she is literally letting customers through the front door? So I finally get a call stating my dog is ready to be picked up almost four hours later. Anjie proceeded to tell me that my dog tried "biting her in the face" when she attempted to brush him and she could not get most of his undercoat. Again, this is a dog who has never shown any signs of aggression towards anyone and has been raised around small children. So either she's a liar who can't handle big dogs( judging with how poorly she handled my dog) or was overly rough with the brushing. She then proceeded to suggest that I consider sedation prior to grooming services which is beyond her scope and completely outrageous. I was dumfounded and I asked since she was unable to complete most of the grooming if I had to pay the full price of services. To which she replied "I still brushed it but not all of it." At that point it wasn't worth discussing. My dog slept for the next two days because of the stress he was put through and what else may have occurred during the grooming. He also shed like he hadn't been groomed. Never again. read more

My dog had an allergy. I needed him to be seen. Jules offered me an appointment 3 weeks out. My dog would have chewed off his foot by then. I went to Old River vet and was seen that day. My daughters cat got leukemia and their advise was to put him down right away. He lived another 8 months without any pain. He was a strong little boy, very loved. The nurse that told us the diagnoses and her doomed opinion was way off in her approach. My daughter fell apart for quite a while. Nobody knows how long we have on this earth. If the baby isn't in pain, why put him to sleep? Don't even bother trying to make an appointment. You can't get one and they don't care if you do get in. Just arrived home with my pup Sugar and my feline both in tow. Today was a surgery and procedure day for both of my fur babies and everything went off without a hitch. Whew! So glad to be home as the day started off smoothly and very early. My 16 year beautiful cat Sylvester was in today for a second take on the removal of a substantially large tumor growing on the side of his body that had just been removed just over 1 week ago. Spoke with Dr. Olsen about the cytology which revealed it was cancerous but a form of cancer that can be treated. Decided after some discussion with Dr. Olsen to bring Sylvester back into her and let her go to work on removing more of the area so that this time the report comes back clean and cancer free. Decided to go this route verses chemotherapy at this junction and I have peace about this. It's what I would do for myself if in the same position; cut it the heck out. He is unbelievably strong and resilient. His appetite has improved immensely since both surgeries were done and he goes right to his food bowl once home and eats and eats. That is what I want to see. I love Dr. Olsen's method of communication and expression. She is direct and gives you options all while telling you the facts of the situation. I've noticed that she actually listens to what I have to say which is great because I am the one living with and caring for my fur babies so I have some valuable input that hopefully helps her do what she needs to do. Now Sugar my 12 year youthful pitbull girl was also in today as she's been having upper respiratory infections in her nose; sneezing and coughing that are appearing to be chronic. I don't like this. Culprit? It appears to be the area we moved into here in Turlock, CA where the dirt is sandy powdered dirt and although she's an indoors pup, when she is outside she has her head down and in this sooty dirt and she inhales it while she seeks cat dung for dining. It's repulsive. It's a disaster. She had a nasal lavage and scope of her nose today. Came back uneventful except for severe irritation and the like. No growths seen. Whew! Dr. Olsen also examined the growths she has on her body and it appears that they are fatty lipoma's. Whoohoo! I can live with this. What a wonderful day today was. I just had peace that all would be well and said my prayers. Prayers answered. I live in Turlock now and Jules Vet works with me due to the drive we have ahead of us each time we have appointments. I appreciate this. I used to live in Tracy, CA and did so for 40 years before moving. I also used to see with my fur babies Dr. Valdez the owner of this practice and she took amazing care of all of my fur babies way back when Jules Vet was new to town. I have comfort and faith in coming here. I had a unfortunate set of circumstances happen with a vet practice here in Turlock where we now reside so I am so grateful to now have our faithful and trusted Vets here at Jules. I sleep better and have better days because I have Jules Vet to turn to whenever my babies need help. Lastly, please consider being patient when you phone and are asked to hold. This is a super busy and in demand vet practice. If you've had as many beloved fur babies as I have over the decades you an see how an excellent practice is constantly busy. Maybe consider yourself fortunate because you too get to receive treatement from here. Just a suggestion, take a deep breath and patiently hold they always return to the line to assist. Plus they are working constantly during COVID-19 to do their part to help the innocent creatures and human caretakers. I think they are angels. Update: 7 days since my 16 year Sylvester the cat had his second surgery to remove additional tissue from the surgical site and Dr. Olsen rang and delivered the lab news: Cancer free!! Went in for Dentist app for dog. The Vet never checked teeth but a visual. Vet didn't inform me they don't do X-rays until surgery they do blood work $500.00 and then inform you of a estimate of what dental work will cost $1,500 to $ 2,500 this is a estimate not determined by X-rays or a visual of teeth. If she was a profesional Vet she should have been more informative. Instead of misleading you. Request to see full information on any procedures hard copy they make notes!!! So beware ask to see it in writhing request X-ray if Vet won't or can't look into the mouth. I chosen to travel back to my vet who is out of State. ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS AND WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION. If I could give the grooming department more stars I would! I have been taking my dogs to Jules dog grooming for about four years now. I always feel welcomed and my dogs just love Torri and Jennifer and I have four of them but only two require regular haircuts. My Brody is getting up there in age and Jennifer understands the importance of calling me as soon as he is ready because he gets very nervous! I make sure I am on standby for that call so I can be right there! Nothing worse than your dog giving you the guilt trip! Lol Then there is my seven month old Yorkie. They fought so hard to try & save her & went over & beyond all to give her the best chance possible I am truly grateful to them for everything they did for her Ivy didn't make it but they gave it there all! This vet is ONLY good for vaccines... do not bring your dog here for anything else. I have 2 dogs that both goes to them. First dog was supposedly spayed, and now we found out that she's still bleeding and needed another surgery. Second dog had cancer and pass away, but about 4-6 months before that we went for a check up they told us our dog was very healthy. She had spleen cancer, stage 4, diagnosed by someone else after a few months after Jules said she was healthy... like seriously?!?!?! The only extra star is for the friendly receptionist. read more

My dog has been here multiple times for boarding. I scheduled another stay and was told I need to bring him in for a quick checkup with the doctor and no cost associated. I got my dog checked at 8 am which took no more than 2 minutes, wasn't made to sign anything for the services. I received a call at 5pm asking for $64 for the checkup and after telling that I was told there was no charge and also I wasn't made to sign anything I was told that the reservation would just be cancelled then. Very poor service, have not seen a place not declare cost/make you sign for the services and cold call for payment after the fact. They could very well charge anything they want and just say we have to pay it. read more
