I am so pleased with my experience at The Pet Advocate! I booked a dental cleaning for my dog, Zero, and needed to reschedule it a couple of times, but the office staff was very understanding and flexible. Once I finally was able to commit to a date, the correspondence I received from TPA was clear and helpful. I was told when to begin restricting food/water, what time to arrive, and the details of the check-in process. As directed, I arrived by 8am and notified office staff. I was quickly greeted by the vet tech, Jill, who was absolutely the best. Jill was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. She let me see where the procedure would be preformed and where Zero would be held, and explained when/why she would call (if blood work was concerning, if it wasn't safe to sedate, if they had suggested extractions). Despite being nervous, Jill definitely helped me feel better about leaving my boy in her care. Since his bloodwork was fine, the next time I heard from Jill was when she called to share suggested extractions. She briefly reviewed the dentition of a dog, explained where there were areas of concern in Zero's mouth, and was able to give me monetary figures when asked. She took time to consider my follow-up questions and I felt the interaction was professional while being empathetic and frank. At no time did I feel that she was trying to upsell me or otherwise get more money out of me. When I picked Zero up, Jill came out holding him. She sat with me and reviewed his bloodwork line by line, his X-rays, and showed me before and after pictures of his teeth. She also provided me with clearly labeled medications. We talked about food and general aftercare, including what I might observe, and I felt comfortable about heading home. Let me start by saying this place was absolutely worth the drive from Hayward. I found it through some online forums and decided to give it a try - and I'm so glad I did. We arrived around 8:30 AM for our dog's drop-off, and even though there were a lot of people already waiting, the process was surprisingly smooth. They clearly have an efficient system in place. After check-in, we were brought inside to speak with the vet, who walked us through everything and answered our questions. Thankfully, our pup was healthy and cleared for the procedure with no concerns. We got a call around 11 AM letting us know everything went well, with a pickup time at 1 PM, which gave our dog time to rest and recover from anesthesia. The procedure went well and he's recovering nicely. Overall, the experience was a 5/5 - friendly staff, efficient service, and incredibly affordable pricing. In addition to spay/neuter services, they also offer vaccinations and microchipping. For our 1-year-old, ~25 lb cockapoo, the total for neutering and microchipping was about $250, which is honestly unbeatable. So I have a few husky mixes at home and I need to spay 3 of my female dogs(1 is 7 years old and 2 are 3 years old) I've been looking for a spot that doesn't charge a crazy amount, I understand it might make me sound like I don't want to spend on my pupz. It's just I don't want to spend thousands, most places charge up from 500-700 for big sized dogs. *and special clinics have some requirements that don't line up with my schedule My veterinarian recommended this place to me so I checked them out(I reside in Fairfield). The process works by you calling or going online and requesting a procedure. You will have to check their dates, but they aren't crazy booked. They send you the paper work online and basically just fill it out and payment will be due upon arrival. The forms tell you of what you need to do before bringing your dog or cat. Get there by 8 the day of the procedure (it's in a quiet shopping center with parking). You step into the facility,without your pet, and check in take care of the paperwork and payment. It gets busy. Then stay at your car till they come and get you and you fur baby. You will speak with the nurse and surgeon , any concerns and questions answered. They aren't super helpful and polite being swamped with the intakes. After that you surrender your pet. Wait a few hours usually by 3 ish your pet will be back in your care with their medicine and aftercare info. They have cones, and other medicine available. I have spayed already two of my dogs Zoey(7years) recovering currently a week after surgery Rosie(3year) two months healthy and active SO check them out support them. They are here for your pets, so show them some love. They are here to help you with your lil babies. Ps..(((for certain size dogs 65 lbs. is an ideal weight for the surgery)) at least for my dogs. We were recommended by a friend for this place. We drove ~1.5 hr to have our small dog neutered. They did not disappoint! This place had great prices and the service was wonderful! The staffs were very nice and friendly. They did what they promised to do, which was to call us before pick up time to give a pick up time estimate. The check-in time was between 8:30-9 for dogs, we got there a little early and they checked us in but we waited until 9ish for them to take the dog. It was very busy at this early morning for check-in so I can understand. However, once received the process only took a couple hours and we got our dog back around 1pm, counting the resting time for the dog. We made a day of it while waiting for him. The check-in and operation time was clean and straight forward. I highly recommend this place! read more

Absolutely unacceptable care and shady billing. Avoid this place. I dropped my cat off today for a neuter procedure and this experience was a nightmare from start to finish. When I booked online, I paid a $20 deposit, and the website clearly showed my remaining balance would be $150. When I dropped him off this morning, the technician suddenly told me the remaining balance was $170. No explanation. No breakdown. Just an extra $20 magically added on top of the deposit I had already paid. At that point my cat needed the surgery, so I had no choice but to pay. When I picked him up around 3:00-3:30 PM, the technician casually mentioned that he "had an accident" after surgery but that they "cleaned it up." That turned out to be a blatant lie. When we got home and took him out of the carrier, my boyfriend and I discovered that my cat was completely soaked in urine. Not damp. Not a little messy. SOAKED. They did not clean him. They simply put a puppy pad over the accident and left him sitting in his own urine from around 1:30PM until pickup hours later. This is beyond dangerous because post-surgery stitches are not supposed to get wet. We immediately called the clinic, and instead of being concerned or offering a solution, they were dismissive and told us this was "normal." Apparently, in their world, it's totally fine to send pets home covered in urine. They offered no help, no apology, and no guidance. I had to call another clinic in Lathrop just to ask what to do, because obviously we cannot leave our cat soaked in urine. That clinic immediately told me he should not get wet and that wiping him down was necessary. Without me even mentioning the name of where we went, the person on the phone asked, "Was it Pet Advocate?" That says everything. Clearly this place has a reputation for neglect like this. The lack of care, accountability, and basic compassion is shocking. Between the surprise charges and the way they treated my cat after surgery, it is very clear that they do not give a shit about your animals. I brought my puppy to The Pet Advocate for her spay. The facility is clean! It is a very busy place, but everything still felt organized and efficient. I really appreciated that they let us go to the back and speak directly with the doctor before the procedure. Everything was explained clearly, and all of my questions were answered. The post-op instructions were easy to follow, and the staff was very attentive. The tech immediately noticed her low weight and checked with the doctor to adjust her medication dosage. I'd be a lot more excited about this vet clinic if they actually inform you that you have to pay $120 to register to put your name on the chip that they charge you $30 to insert into your pet. I would be way, way more excited about this veterinary clinic, but it basically ate the entire cost of me driving out there and getting a supposed discount on neutering when I have to come home and pay an extra $120 just to register the chip that I already paid for that was injected into my dog. And hard pass on the 1 Peter 4:10 religious messaging on their site. With the message being "each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace and in it's various forms" you would think that they could use their lips to share with you that they are going to gouge you again after you get home. I have no doubt that they take a percentage for every registration. I brought this Foster Pet here thinking that I might be able to save a little bit of money because I took this dog off the street so it wouldn't be murdered in a shelter because he has multiple medical problems. The only thing I'd suggest is having two separate lines -- one for drop-offs and another for payments -- since it was a little confusing at first. Tip for pet parents: if your dog has a cone, they may have trouble eating on their own, so be ready to hand-feed. Also, hide their meds in food (I used meatballs!) and make sure to finish all the doses. My husky healed really well and was back to her normal self soon after the procedure, which shows how great their care is! I had my 9 month old pomeranian neutered here. The pre surgery day instructions on the email were very clear and precise and it made the process on the day of surgery go smoothly. We did wait for quite a bit but it's not that bad and gave my dog more time to settle in a little bit. Dr. Mike was very helpful and informative. I told him that I'm very nervous for my dog Leo because it's my first time getting a dog fixed. He reassured me and explained the process, he also gave me a tour inside where they prepare them and do the surgery to put me on ease. Pain medication was also optional and I purchased it anyways since I don't want my dog to feel pain at all. My dog Leo came out drooling and groggy but just after 2 days, he's already energetic and never loss an appetite. Today marks the 3 weeks from the surgery and it healed beautifully. Very tiny incision and no blood or anything. They also used a skin absorbing sutures so we didn't need to come back and get it removed. Before coming here, I called so many places and they gave me a quote of at least $700 not including all other extras like microchip, meds etc. I only spent a little over $220 and that's including the cone, microchip and the medication. The price is nothing compared to other places and you get good service as well. This is indeed an advocacy place for pets that needs to get spayed/neutered. Our four-year old 11 lb (Poodle terrier mix) dog has regular non-anesthetic dental cleanings at our vet in Oakland. During our last visit, the dental guy found that our dog had a loose tooth. Our vet gave us an estimate in the $2K - $3K range to have the tooth extracted. We have another, older dog that has had extensive dental work, so we were not surprised by this estimate, but we are also realistic that due to the aforementioned older dog's dental bills this year (she has to go to a speciality dental clinic due to issues with prior anesthesia) we were tapped out budget-wise. After doing some research in local pet owner groups, I learned about The Pet Advocate. Our experience there exceeded expectations. Intake was very straightforward, and we were lucky enough to get an appointment right away due to a cancellation. (They take 3 dental patients a day). The vet and techs were all very friendly and thorough. They gave us a complete set of x-rays and photos that we can gove to our vet for our dog's record. The Pet Advocate is a 50 minute drive from our house, but there is a co-working space down the block, so I just parked myself there while our dog had his procedure. All things said, he was in great shape when I picked him up. I have recommended them to many friends who are seeking more affordable dental care for their pets. (so not my choice of places ) But my pup went in for a spay . common yes but also Kinda an intense procedure.. they called so I could pay extra for pain meds and a cone ?!?!! Like how in the world do you do that to a pup and not just automatically provide these things ??? Or have it in the initial fee ?? Seems a little crazy /weird to me .. And then when I went to pick her up she didn't even have a cone on ..that i paid for !! ( they get 2 stars because they made it quite simple to get a refund) But then not even 48 hours later and the glue that looked legit packed on already fell off and in one of the spots they shaved her she's alll cut up .. Dont ever waste your money coming here. Theyre so unprofessional, Rude and will leave your cat soaked in urine apon release after surgery. Apon arriving to drop my cat off in the early morning of January 12th at 8:30 am, we got a consultation about the pricing and process which we were told and made sure what the final payment amount would total up to $150 BEFORE we gave them our pet and on paying we were told it was going to be $190. As to which i asked why it was more than what the consolation said and The front desk person who couldnt stand on her own without a inhaler Dominque caught a attitude and started becoming rude because she wouldnt catch her breath after every word and got frustrated. We were called around 2 Pm saying we can pick up our cat from 3-4 apon arriving we notice he didnt have the cone on WE bought and provided and they said it did not fit when we tried it on him before we took him to make sure he came out wearing something comfortable. After we picked him up and brought him home we had noticed his carrier smelled like urine. To which we took him outside and inspected him. To our surprise The brainless imbeciles who work at The Pet advocate decided it was okay for him to go home soaked in his urine and potentially get a infection. I called Back the Pet advocate to ask why they would do this and what is wrong with them to which they either hung up the phone or sent me to voicemail 8 different calls. At the end we ended up calling a different clinic to ask what the solutions were which they actually helped and asked if we had went to The Pet advocate after hearing our situation. So obviously The Pet Advocate is known for leaving animals in even worse conditions or situations similar to ours today. I would stay away from this place as they dont care about animals and i will be contacting management or ownership about this horrible experience. This is all they do For the same services quoted by our local vet, the cost turned out to be $525! It was worth the 45 minute drive to Tracy, CA to save $1263! The best part is how professional, friendly & organized they are. Upon arrival we were greeted by Jill a Registered Veterinary Technician and she worked with us throughout the whole process. We were quickly put at ease with their attitude, knowledge and nice clean facility. Once Jill brought our cat in and introduced the vet they put our cat Sasha at ease before my eyes. This is very unusual for our rescue alley cat. Jill promised to call if there were any issues needing attention or when they were completed with the procedures. We had a great breakfast at the nearby Town & Country Cafe. In a couple of hours they called to say everything went great and we could pick Sasha Fierce up at 1:00PM. I brought 3 4-month-old female cats to the Pet Advocate in early November to have them spayed. There are 'barn cats' for my ranch to handle rodents, and I didn't want t kittens showing up in the spring. The registration was simple, the reception at the office was great and very organized .. All 3 cats were in great shape when I picked them up and none showed issue with pain and irritation ... they all purred that day. We drove from Sacramento because that was the most affordable place keeping it at under $700 including extractions, xrays, blood work, and anesthesia. I brought my very anxious dog here for a dental cleaning and multiple extractions, and I was extremely impressed with the level of care. The veterinarians and technicians were patient, compassionate, and flexible, which made me feel completely comfortable leaving my pet in their hands. Not only are their prices very reasonable, but the quality of care is excellent. My dog had 12 teeth extracted and is recovering very well. The team clearly explained why each tooth needed to be removed, gave me the choice in making the final decision, and were fully transparent about costs. The cost of cleaning is $600 including bloodwork. They do recommend brining cash. If you use card, there is a 3% surcharge. The check-in process does take some time so I recommend being prepared to wait between 8:00-9:00 a.m. at drop-off, depending on how many clients are ahead of you. That said, the staff's thoroughness and attention to detail made the wait worthwhile. I also appreciated that they provided before-and-after photos of my dog's teeth, which helped me understand the procedure and see the results firsthand. After receiving a quote for nearly 3k from our local vet for my dog's dental that I could not afford, I did some research and found Pet Advocate. I called on 12/16/24 to make an appointment for my dog and my husband's cat for 04/28/25. We didn't mind the wait but I say that just to give others an idea of how long they might need to wait due to how far out they are booked. I paid a $50 deposit for each pet at time of booking. We dropped them off at 8 am on our scheduled day. All of the staff are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We spoke with the doctor and dental techs, they examined our pets, and ran blood work. I felt so assured after seeing the facility and speaking with the staff that our pets were in good hands. They called us a few hours later to provide a treatment recommendation and explained everything very thoroughly regarding each problem tooth. We agreed with their recommendation and proceeded with 5 extractions for each pet. They were ready for pickup around 2:30-3 pm and the staff made sure to go through aftercare instructions with us. In total my dog's treatment cost just over $1,000 (which includes the exam, X-rays, charting, blood work, cleaning, and 5 extractions of which 2 required gum flaps) and my husband's cat's treatment came out to ~$700 for all of the above minus gum flaps. I brought my 5 year old dashhund to have his teeth cleaned. They were in really bad shape. He had severe tartar buildup and gingivitis. The staff did a phenomenal job with his teeth. But the way you spoke to me and cut me off from finishing sentences is unprofessional and rude. Telling me to go get my dog spayed for triple the price before you let me finish explaining that the last vet I talked to didn't even tell me she was 20lbs overweight was, again, unprofessional and rude. I was trying to explain to you what was going on with her so we could come up with a plan to help better my Lola's life. As a doctor, that's what you do. As somebody who also works in a medical field for humans rather than animals, I would NEVER speak to my patients the way this vet spoke to me.
