My 15 yr old Himalayan cat, Tilly was seen for her annual exam at the end of November and it was noted she had lost weight. Her senior panel showed a low albumin protein level. It was recommended to do an abdominal ultrasound and a digestive panel to look at her small intestines by my vet of many years. Sadly she was retiring and would not be there for the ultrasound scheduled for 12/26/25 along with the recommended blood work. Dr Cook took over her case and recommended we start prednisolone and vitamin B12 for her small intestinal disease after her ultrasound. She called 1 wk later saying the results were not back yet and would take longer. After that, I never heard back with the results, nor did she make any follow-up recommendations on how to proceed. My dog had an appt for his ear infection with Dr Katy on 2/12/26 and I asked her for Tilly's lab results as I had never heard back. Luckily, the results were normal. I was very disappointed in the lack of follow-up from Dr Cook. This was the first time I have felt like this after many years of taking my pets to AVC. read more

There not enough good things to say about this vet! We had a tragic event and our 2 year old puppy passed away. We have her twin sister and she was getting sick so we decided to bring her here for a check up so we didn't have to go through what we did with the puppy a few days ago. Dr. Kapty was absolutely amazing, her bed side room manor was amazing! Our pup is very scared and neverous around other people. She let us stay in the room during all the procedures to make sure she was comfortable. Nicole the assistant was so gently and amazing as well. There was another assistant there helping and I can't remember her name. I can't recommend this place enough. We love Arroyo Vet! Both Kristi and Erica at the front desk are AMAZING! They take the time to get to know both you and your pet and treat you with authentic kindness. We have seen all the Dr.'s there and I never feel pushed into any unnecessary treatment. I have a very nervous dog and Dr Rosato couldn't be more accommodating. We are so grateful to have an entire team we can trust with our pets; even our nervous shepherd walks confidently through their doors now. As a side note, their recommendation to use Nexguard Plus was a literal life saver. After a day of hiking and finding a live tick on myself, we found 10-12 DEAD ticks on my shepherd in her crate the next morning. The product works AMAZING! Switched from another vet's office as my neighbor had great things to say about Arroyo. He was right! I called with semi emergency for my diabetic dog and they fit me in the next morning. Staff was so friendly and helpful, one of the best customer service experiences I've had. Dr. Kapty is unbelievably knowledgeable especially for diabetic animals. They ran tests right away and explained the results with recommendations without rushing me. She patiently answered all my questions and made me feel so much less stressed. I regret writing this review because the vets have been great. However, if you have an urgent need they can not help you. I have heard multiple times how they are "understaffed" or "have only one vet working." Hearing that over covid I could understand but this excuse has become stale. Today, when I received that same response once again, I explained that its not good and in short, the receptionist got defensive. If she would have had a little empathy it would have been appreciated. Also, its helpful for the pet and the owner to be together during treatment. This clinic did not allow pet parents to accompany their pet long after the restrictions were lifted. read more

We will not be coming back. We feel that we were taken advantage of. You charged us almost $300 to test for ringworm. I told you my daughter had one on her face and that it was most likely ringworm. You gave him an antibiotic that he did not need on top of it. After discussing this with another vet, they confirmed that you charged us for things that could be diagnosed with a black light. I casually walked in this morning and was greeted with horrible customer service. I had my mask on and my dog with me , but still both of the employees there looked at me like I had absolutely no business being in there,, I was taken back. I tried to ease them by saying good morning soon as I walked in and felt the awkward feeling. Neither one of them replied good morning and she asked me if I needed something.. Still not understanding why this negative vibe was there and me being a grown man had to bite my tongue,, Because I know me being a black man here in this typical Livermore establishment with 2 white ladies just asking the question would make things unnecessarily worse,, I just ask her if they y service trimming dogs nails? She tried to rush me out by being rude and loud and saying if they've never seen my dog and it doesn't look like they have its $59 for an appointment and $28 for nail trimming!?! We've been coming here for 3 years. Before Covid, they were great! Recently, there's been staff changes and Covid restrictions still I place for over 2 years now: it's really disappointing that they charge you a nurse fee every single series of vaccinations! It is not the case with other vet clinics in Livermore. I called around specifically for this question. Because I just don't understand how every visit with series of the same vaccination cost an arm and leg! This place is absolutely amazing! I've been bringing my cat Hopps here for over a year now. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful, and I mean everyone. Any staff member, doctor, nurse, anyone you speak with is great. They really care for your pet in a loving matter, not clinical whatsoever where, but still very professional. The knowledge and support is never ending. My favorite story is when my cat had to get this laser thing done to his ear, they asked if they could take a picture of him wearing goggles to protect his little eyes. Of course I said yes! I was so happy with them that when a job became available I applied and started working the front office. My experience with Arroyo Vet was a very sad and negative experience. I brought my sweet dog in for teeth cleaning and after spending a couple thousand dollars for tests, x-rays and drugs she was gone in less than 3 weeks. I felt some of the tests were unnecessary, such a worm test for a dying dog. The vet knew her stuff but I didn't feel the compassion or caring my previous vet had. For us our sweet dog was more than a dog she was my furry kid. One of the staff members recognized my loss, was compassionate and understood. I will never use this vet in the future. read more

Where do I even begin regarding Dr. Rosato? How many of you have a vet that calls daily, gives you updates on weekdays and weekends, calls you back when she says she will - even after hours just to walk you through installing a libre sensor, makes sure all documentation reaches other specialist on time w/ detailed notes and reaches out to other vets for a 2nd opinion - Dr. Rosato is THAT Doctor. She has even said she wouldn't be opposed to coming in to the office on her day off to help my dog. My dog was recently diagnosed w/ diabetes and w/ her hand holding, got my dogs glucose under control. Unfortunately, other diseases are present and without her, I would be completely lost without. She's a straight shooter w/ a sweet, funny sense of humor. She doesn't sugar coat what's going on w/ your dog and doesn't try to milk you for ever dime you have. I could go on and on because with ALL the issues I've had w/ my 2 dogs and ALL the other vets I've used in the past 12 years, she is by far the BEST I've ever experienced. They were upfront with pricing. They have a puppy plan and we're honest with us in saying they don't think it would be beneficial for us since she is already fixed and has her first round of shots. But gave us prices for everything in case we decided to go that route. And we really appreciated that. It's a great feeling to walk into a place and they say "hi Gigi!" (Our pups name). We brought him to Arroyo to see if they could scan his chip and the woman at the front desk was so helpful and so kind and immediately began helping us. She was engaging with us and with a woman who walked into the lobby. And kudos to the waiting woman for being patient while we were helped. I actually wound up at Arroyo by following Dr. Rosato who has been the doctor for both of my fur babies; my first cat that passed about 20 years ago & my current cat who has a chronic medical condition. Yes, she's really THAT good that I followed her. I'm writing this review, however, to give a big thank you and shout out to Lisa. My cat's condition had been flared up and I reached out to Arroyo to get a message to Dr. Rosato about what to do as I was getting extremely concerned. The morning that I called Lisa answered the phone and was dealing with a HUGE crisis as they had had a COVID exposure and were having to shut down the office to quarantine. She was only in the office to reschedule all of their appointments. Despite dealing with the stress of the exposure & the rescheduling, she still took the time to listen to my concerns, let me know my options, and express her sympathy for what my sweet boy was going through. She offered to call to try to get me an appointment at their sister office, or asked me if I'd rather go to Sage since I was feeling that it was urgent. I elected to go to Sage since we thought he probably needed a GI ultrasound (totally did) and she made sure to send over his records before she left. I just appreciate so much her sincere concern, advice and recommendations. My sweet boy is doing so much better & Lisa is a big part of why! read more

We tried, but after a couple puppy appointments we were not impressed with the overall service and attitude of the staff. Disappointing.

A few years back we brought our beloved cat here for care. After a couple of blood panels nothing conclusive was determined and our cat's health deteriorated. We eventually brought him in for care when his weight continued to drop. My husband felt that we should keep him home and I insisted on bringing him in for care. While trying to insert an IV they ripped the skin on his neck so bad that he required staples. Then sent him home a short time later. He died less than hour after coming home. They actually charged for the IV that caused such damage and was never able to be inserted. I waited to write this review so that I wasn't writing out of emotion. It brings tears to think that I pushed for my husband to bring him in and his life could've been prolonged, even for a short period, without the shock of such an injury. We never received a call to check on his progress or to apologize for what happened. Needless to say we never went back. read more

I was very saddened to learn from Arroyo's news release that many people have been rude to the staff. They are working short staffed but are very consistent in their cheerful helpful interactions with the fur baby's owners. They work very hard to accommodate their patients needs as efficiently and professional as they possibly can. I have been going to Arroyo for many years with different dogs and I've never experienced any staff that wasn't helpful, compassionate, professional and understanding even if I was having a melt down over a sick dog. I hope people put themselves in the very difficult situation the staff has by often being slammed by emergencies and understand they are doing an outstanding job. read more

The people are nice, the office is nice, the doctors are good. I have two complaints: 1. The prices are astronomical here.. They charge wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more for everything here than many other vets in Livermore. They have some scam about having to charge you for an office visit just to come in for a vaccine. 2. They asked me if I wanted to prepay for the next few vaccinations my dog was going to need so I could avoid paying their office visit fee so I did it. They never called, emailed or texted me a reminder to come in for those future vaccines.. I finally think to call and check and they said too much time had passed and that I had to get new initial vaccines.. The booster wouldn't work otherwise... More $$$ I changed to Adobe vet hospital and I've been very happy with the costs and facility. read more

I've had my dog to Arroyo Vets three times in the past 8 months and every time the service is - excellent! Not all hospital staff are good at dealing with big dogs, but Arroyo staff are. ... it's now been three years of visits to Arroyo Vets and my dog is13 1/2 years old! Dr. Kapty has been wonderful with him. He has major arthritis in his back legs and hips and Dr has taken us through a wide variety of treatments, most of which worked for a while. But, he is now at an age where little is working and we are simply tying to keep him comfortable. Dr. Kapty has also been preparing me for the inevitable. She's great! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The worst bedside manner I've ever seen. Took my 12 year old GSD in because he was vomiting and had vertigo. I know problems arise wth older dogs, but without doing a full exam, I was getting quoted $900. I explained that some of the things they wanted to do were done at another vet recently (blood work) and I was aware of and know how to treat some of the things that could be ailing him (ear infections- he's lived with them his how life). I asked if it was an ear infection and if it was, can we just get antibiotics. I'm just not in a financial position to spend $900 at the moment. And having had my dog for 12 years and after two hip surgeries and a gold tooth (crown), I know him pretty well. When I asked for medication only, I was treated very rudely. I asked if I could just pay the office visit because I just want to get my dog home, the lady behind the counter said, "the sooner they leave, the better." I don't feel this is how anyone should be treated, especially someone that comes to you for help. I understand that things need to be "ruled out" when it comes to illnesses and pets, but to treat someone rudely when they tell you $900 is just too much right now, should not be in business. I feel like places like this take advantage of people's vulnerability because we would do almost anything for our pets. Shame on you Arroyo Vet Center. Don't go here unless have the big $$$. read more

I would like to mention how compassionate Arroyo Veterinary staff are. I know this will sound nuts but my husband set a snap trap for a mouse that got in our house and the poor thing got its arm caught but was still alive and suffering. I called them for help to humanely euthanize it. They were closing but said they would wait 10 minutes for us to arrive and the doctor would help at no cost, which they did. Thank you so much Arroyo for the great care of all creatures. read more

We've been bringing our dog to Arroyo Vet since we got her at 8 weeks old and we are very happy with the quality of care, the service, and the facility. There are two other vets in town (among many) that I had been to with my previous pets and I didn't like them for a few reasons. At the first one, I always felt like they automatically assumed I was a bad pet owner. I get that animal people go into the animal business because they probably don't like people but I am not a neglectful pet owner and I didn't like being treated like I was. So I tried another vet in town which I did like better but I had to call and cancel an appointment at one point. Well, I called (I am not exaggerating) 22 hours in advance to cancel the appointment for the following day, and I was charged a fee because it was not 24 hours in advance. So as soon as we got our new dog in April of this year we decided we would try another facility. All that to say, the staff does not act like they hate people, and they don't have a super-strict cancellation policy. Which, by the way, if I missed an appointment without calling at all, I would totally expect to pay a fee. Or even if I called the day of the appointment to cancel, I could understand being charged. But they don't even have a fee in those circumstances. Most importantly I am confident that they are giving my dog great care. They are thorough, give lots of options when there are options (in treatment plans, types of medicine, etc.) and I trust that they do have my dog's health in mind. And my dog LOVES going there, strangely. What dog loves going to the vet?! So that's a good sign too, I think. I highly recommend them. read more

I am blown away by the level of care and compassion we experienced in the last few days during what was probably the most stressful, scary, and sad time we've ever experienced in our three years together. It started Tuesday night when we noticed our three year old Siamese, Dexter, was vomiting, not eating, and very lethargic. By Wednesday morning we knew we needed to get him to the vet ASAP. I called first thing in the morning and spoke to Karen. I told her our cat wasn't doing to well and we suspected he ate string. She said to bring him over as soon as we could. We got there around 10:30. They did an xray which proved our concern, a foreign body obstruction in the intestines. Surgery needed to be done immediately. We got the surgery going, made a deposit, cried a lot, and gave dexter some love. We went home and waited. Around 2pm I got a call from Dr. Valdez saying surgery was done and they found a piece of string stuck in his esophagus, going thru the stomach, and bunched up in his intestines. The surgery was successful. She said we could come see him in a few hours. I asked if I could bring his bed because he would be staying the night. She said I could. Dr. Valdez made me feel so relieved and at ease. We kept in contact through out the next day and arranged his pick up and aftercare. I went to go get him around 7 on Thursday. The vet tech I spoke to was very helpful and explained all the prescriptions and general aftercare very thoroughly. We brought him home and he did very well. The only thing that was bothering him was the pain patch that was in a bandage on his back paw. This continued to bother him throughout the night. I called first thing in the morning and they said to bring him in to take it off. I also asked to switch the anti biotic from liquid to tablet because it was hard to administer and made him drool, they switched it no problem. It's now been a bit over 24 hours that he's been home. We feel very at ease knowing he received such high quality care. He seems very comfortable too. I can't recommend them any higher. The level of compassion can't be matched. We are eternally grateful for all their effort in saving Dexter's life. read more

I was quoted by another vet in town by the other safeway off Stanley $1200 to lance, clean & stitch up an abcess on a cats forearm. This vet quoted all the exact same services per the invoice for $500. Friendly , helpful, professional staff. All my animals have been to Arroyo since! Found this place on yelp and amongst the list of results from my search of Vets within Livermore, Arroyo appeared to be the best place to go. My pup has not been a patient here so this review does not have to do with their veterinary service. However, they have lost a potential patient due to their online appointment request service. I tried to schedule an appointment with the center and they were able to reply stating that my first choice was not available. When I e-mailed back asking for times available on specific days, there were no responses. My advice would be to directly call the should you want to try them out. Sadly for some, online happens to be the most convenient way of booking appointments or corresponding and this place didn't cut it. read more

Pretty nice place located in a busy shopping center. Right next to safeway! Brought my dog in cause he looked like he was in pain. I was seen right away and I loved how the vet got down on the floor with my pup. She was super comfortable and casual. Got the meds quickly and the whole exam took less than 30 mins. Only thing is that the front desk seems to be set up kinda weirdly. It does not look like a typical veterinary center. took a while for the ladies to stop chatting with each other and tell me what I needed to do. They asked me for my dog's name and then that's it. I didn't know if I should of sat down or if I needed to get my dog on the scale. Overall it was a good experience. read more
