I am writing this review to express my sincere appreciation for the entire staff at Northgate Veterinary Hospital. I have been bringing my personal dogs, as well as the many rescue dogs I have fostered over the years, to Northgate for over 25 years. First, I want to address the negativity I see in reviews. Take a minute to think about what the staff here deals with! Incredibly difficult, high-stress situations daily (which I have contributed to on occassion - sorry) from delivering a devastating diagnosis to assisting a family saying a final goodbye to a beloved pet. It's not always puppies and kittens! They are focused on providing the best possible care, not winning a popularity contest. It takes immense grace and emotional stamina to do what they do, and I ask everyone to consider that before posting an unkind comment. You never know what they are going thru on any given day! Give them some grace and think about it before posting! The reason I have remained a loyal client for over two decades is simple: the Northgate veterinarians truly listen to their clients. I experienced a life-and-death situation with one of my dogs several years ago after visiting a different clinic. I repeatedly asked the vet for an ultrasound due to my Malinois's enlarged stomach, (it just looked odd) but I was told an X-ray would suffice. (I did not know at the time that an xray will not show a tumor - I listened to the vet) I was told nothing was there and that he was just over weight. I should have listened to my gut. Two months later, he became lethargic; I finally got the ultrasound I had asked for which revealed a tumor on his spleen had burst (Hemangiosarcoma), and I had to say goodbye and was devestated - he was only 6.. Had the ultrasound been performed earlier, perhaps it may have been caught in time and he would still be here with me. At Northgate, when I raise a serious concern or request a specific procedure, the doctors always take the time to talk through it with me and calm my craziness. They are never dismissive and always address my concerns with genuine care. I am not the easiest to deal with when it comes to my dogs. I am incredibly grateful for the dedication of Dr. Enz and Dr. Fitzpatrick, and I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Johnston as well. Every single staff member at Northgate is amazing, and I am grateful for the exceptional care they provide to my pets. read more

This Vet is so caring to animals and considerate to humans. I'm so happy to have found a great place I can trust. I recently moved to Manteca and discovered this veterinary hospital through the Manteca Facebook page. I'm very pleased to have found such a great veterinarian for my dog. Appointments are scheduled promptly, and the doctors are both knowledgeable and attentive. They take time to listen to my concerns and follow up on my dog's medical history. Our family has been going to Northgate and its sister facilities for well over 3 decades (the vet on Moffat has been there forEVER, I think it was a house that was converted to a clinic? It was rebuilt to match the other two clinics in the last 5? 6? years or so. Anywhooooo). I can say with the utmost confidence that no matter which one of these clinics you pick they are all extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They are always willing to listen, and even when I'm acting crazy they're always gentle with my babies and me. Dr. Enz and Dr. Johnson are so patient and are always respectful and informative. If I bring up a concern, they talk me through it and gently correct me when I'm wrong or letting my anxiety get the best of me. They educate on options that are available for treatment and allow you to make the decision, even if that means taking them to another vet simply because they aren't equipped for that specific thing. They CARE about your furbaby, not their bottom line. (I could go on for DAYS about scummy vets, and Northgate does not qualify.) The staff is WONDERFUL, and I know they love our furbabies just as much as we do. I'm never worried if I have to drop one of my cats or dogs because after the many MANY years of bothering them to no end they STILL welcome us with open arms and smiles. When I lost my cat Oliver in 2019, they reached out with a card even though I had taken him to the old ER vet (when it was on Pelandale) in Modesto in the middle of the night. Compassion is hard to come by nowadays, and the staff and docs are bursting at the seams with it. I think the cost is reasonable, and they won't do a procedure or treatment/test unless it is absolutely necessary. Their pricing is fairly typical in comparison to other vets in the area. That being said, you get what you pay for. While Northgate is not the cheapest vet FOR SOME, it is by far the most trustworthy. I've been to non-ER vets that charge WAY MORE and then end up going back to Northgate because the other vet was... lacking. Costs more in the long run if you ask me. TL;DR: Northgate is awesome. They are trustworthy, kind, and knowledgeable. Staff is great, pricing is moderate. The peace of mind they bring is PRICELESS. read more

When it was time for my Bella to be put down, this place was compassionate, professional, personal and affordable. They placed my pet in a cardboard coffin for me to bury in my back yard, and the finishing excellence was to draw a heart in pen on the tape around the box. Brought my dog in twice for wellness exam, vaccines, blood work, otherwise routine stuff. The appointment was split into two per the Dr.'s discretion. I paid twice, for both appointments and medication, for a total of a little over $1100... I'm originally from the Bay Area, and that's way more expensive than what I'd pay prior to moving. Unfortunately, I heard the price of another customer's c-section for her cat, and that was significantly less than my dog's wellness exam.. so confused... Also, not sure the vet tech knew how to handle my timid dog either. I felt embarrassed that my dog acted the way he did (non-violent, just very scared and pooped), but I realize he's never done that at any vet before. Probably not a good fit for us... I give it 3 stars because the vet care was not terrible. However, I wasn't looking for anything extraordinary at a wellness exam for an otherwise healthy dog. read more

I have had nothing but wonderful treatment for my pets at Northgate. All of the staff do their best to be accommodating, the doctors are top notch, and everyone is so kind when you have to make the decision for the unthinkable. I have never been disappointed in any of the doctors and I have seen 6! My favorite thing about the doctors at Northgate, is they are never afraid to refer you to someone else. There are NO egos! When my baby had both her knees done, Dr Ens sent us to Dr Sam at Venetian in Stockton. When she had a severe eye issue, Drs Chong and Ens got Dr Olin in Stockton on the phone for a quick specialist consultation. I feel like I have an entire team of support when I take my babies to Northgate. Roxy lost her eye, but i was able to feel confident she was in the best hands! We've been coming here for 13+ years. We use to drive up from Los Angeles just to make sure our dog gets the best care. Then when the doctors changed, we'd come only if we are in Manteca visiting family. Now....I am done. The entire staff changed. The front desk is no longer friendly. My blind dog had an ear emergency and the vet screwed up on a med and even saying on her notes she looked in my dog's ears with a scope...when both my husband and I KNOW she didn't. The next day...my dog stopped responding to sound. Freaked out we called right when they opened and Lori said she'll talk to the vet...Right after I got off the phone I called our vet in Newport Beach. Our vet at Newport followed-up, called me back several times. In the mean time, I was still waiting on Northgate. I eventually called Northgate twice more before I spoke with Jennifer who got me an appointment in an hour to check on his ears. Lazy Lori was never heard from, she didn't even smile when we walked in. WTF. Then proceeded to whisper with glances over at us as we sat there waiting. SERIOUS?? My dog is deaf...not us.... Finally saw the kind vet Megan Greer. She is the reason for the added star. She did a wonderful job covering their butt and more importantly making sure our dog is taken care of. She loves animals, that I can tell and great manners. Wished we saw her when we were there earlier in the week. She tried to look in our dogs ears with the scope and it took my husband and I to hold our dog down as he bark and whine and wiggle in pain. The screeching sound of pain hurts my heart. Yup my dogs ears were sooo swollen, she couldn't even see the ear drum of the left ear. And after that heart wrenching experience...we know for certain the last Vet never looked in his ear to see if his ear drum was in tact before prescribing drops that now may have made him permanently deaf. Either way. New medication was prescribed. Noticed the markup in cost is more than Taz's three other vets in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The entire ordeal for the ear infection at Northgate was about $295. Way more compared to his previous ear infection visit at his Newport Beach Vet with med and laser treatment. However cost is never an issue with us for good treatment. Heck, his optimologist is $250 per visit alone. Either way. Wished the service was better. No thanks to Lori for making the experience worst and not managing the situation. As annoyed and disappointed as I am, Dr. Megan Greer was awesome. I would return to this vet for her and her only. But it may also be time to seek out a better location. read more

I gave 5 stars before when Loretta & Dr Greer used to work there. I give more compliments & praises than complain or write a bad review on anything or anybody. And the only reason why we still come here is because of Dr. Kimery. But checking out other vet now. I lost one of my furry baby before. Dr Kimery & Dr Greer were very compassionate & very empathetic. But when I went back after 2 weeks to pick up my furry baby's ashes, Jennifer hand it to me like a regular shopping bag. Her exact words were "here you go & you still owe this much." First of all my daughter already paid everything on the day we lost our furry baby. Second, she saw me in tears & there were no compassion or sympathy. I'm not asking to be best friend, but at least show some compassion & try to say like "oh, I'm so sorry for your loss." NOTHING, she just wanted to collect money! But I let it go, giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was really busy on that day or maybe she was going through something. Then today I picked up meds for one of my furry baby. I saw 4 bags from the cremation company. And I made a comment "aww...I'm looking at those 4 bags & I know what's inside. It brings so much painful memory when I lost one of my furry baby for the first time." And all the girl said was, "oh that, oh yeah" with no expression on her face & did not acknowledge on what I just shared. Heartless people! So, I called & asked to speak the manager & shared her my experience. And it hurts to hear when she said that I'm not the first one to share bad experience & negative review about the employees. Yesterday was my first visit to Northgate Veterinary Hospital. We were greeted buy a friendly staff, treated with respect and professionalism. Meds and office visit came to $104 which was much less than my previous vet would have charged. The facility appeared to be spotless. All of these things are great but it was the quality of care that stood out the most. I had gotten so used to being rushed through an assembly line process at my previous vet, that I forgot what good quality Veterinary Care was until yesterday. read more

We've been coming to Northgate with our dog Kimba since moving to Manteca four years ago. I'm not sure why so many negative reviews are showing up about the staff, they've always been very pleasant and friendly. I joke with them and they all joke right back. It makes a stressful situation a lot easier to handle. We were just there this past Thursday for Kimba's skin irritation and we saw Dr. Myles. She was so pleasant and thorough! And the biggest plus was that when she gave Kimba her shots, I didn't even realize it. There was no dog jumping, yelping, trying to leap in my arms.. just letting her do what she had to do. The only reason I'm giving four stars and not five is because they are a bit pricey but when it comes to my pets, they're like my children and I won't skimp on their care. So if it costs a bit more to make sure they not only get the best treatment but that they're treated by people who obviously love what they do and love animals, then I don't mind as much paying their price.. and yes, money is tight but you do what you have to do. I have never gone in and asked for a particular doctor and I have never been disappointed with any of Kimba's care. And I have never met any of the staff who were less than kind and professional. Maybe for some of the people who complain about attitudes from the staff, you should look inward and check your own attitude. Sometimes that's the cause. read more

A big thank you to the staff who treated one of my senior residents from a local Senior Living Community. My residents dog was attacked by another dog while on a walk. My resident was not charged for medication or the initial visit. When the dog had to return for further treatment, the vet only charged 1/2 of the cost. This was a huge relief to the owner. Brought our boys in 3 weeks ago. Waited for 3 hours and were over charged. Wanted vaccines only for 2 dogs and they charged for wellness exams as well. Didn't say anything. Brought one dog back for a recheck. Was told last visit there would be no charge. Vet walks in and it's not my dog's regular vet. They again over charge and say it's because our dog seen a new doctor. Not once was I informed he was seeing another doctor. I would have waited to see his regular doctor. Billing girl had attitude with me and talked down to me. Bunch of hidden fees. Positive- doctors are nice and front desk girl was sweet and spunky. I love this vet. On Monday my dog got a foxtail deep in her ear canal. They were able to get me in first thing that morning and I was able to pick up my dog by 11 am. Fast forward to today. Our dog hurt her paw and it got significantly worse overnight. I called them first thing and they were able to get us in immediately. They are very knowledgeable and answer all of my questions thoroughly. They are great with our doodle. No longer going to our old Manteca vet. read more

Best vet in Manteca! I take all my babies there and when I stop in with one, they always ask how the others are doing. The staff is friendly, I'd recommend seeing Dr Kimery or Dr Greer they're both awesome! I want the best for my puppies and I definitely know they'll take care of them. Dr. Vega is amazing! Office is clean, staff is pleasant, waiting time is minimal, appointments are easily accessible. Diagnosis is usually fast, unnecessary tests are never done. I have been taking my cats here for years. Two of them have stomatitis and one had to have half his teeth removed. They were always upfront on costs and options before doing any treatments. I moved out of Manteca 7 years ago but they have always been able to help me. About a couple months ago one of my cats got a giant gash in his neck from a cat fight and my local vet said they couldn't see him for 2 weeks so I would have to take him to ER. I called Northgate and they were able to see him within 2 hours. It's a long drive but well worth the service and care from the team at Northgate. A couple weeks ago my cat got really sick, super lethargic and again local vet couldn't see him for weeks and I would have to take home to ER. I called Northgate and they got us in the next day, he got antibiotics and is doing great! Very thankful for the care at this facility. read more
