We love Dr En. He takes the time to listen to me about my concerns about my Doberman. He does a thorough work up. Treats my dog with care and love. He isn't rough or mean The front staff is always friendly and helpful. Also the entire office is so clean and sanitary. Highly recommend

When it was time for my Bella to be put down, this place was compassionate, professional, personal and affordable. They placed my pet in a cardboard coffin for me to bury in my back yard, and the finishing excellence was to draw a heart in pen on the tape around the box. That was such a wonderful touch to help me in my pain. Thank you Northgate Veterinarian Hospital.

I have had nothing but wonderful treatment for my pets at Northgate. All of the staff do their best to be accommodating, the doctors are top notch, and everyone is so kind when you have to make the decision for the unthinkable. I have never been disappointed in any of the doctors and I have seen 6! My favorite thing about the doctors at Northgate, is they are never afraid to refer you to someone else. There are NO egos! When my baby had both her knees done, Dr Ens sent us to Dr Sam at Venetian in Stockton. When she had a severe eye issue, Drs Chong and Ens got Dr Olin in Stockton on the phone for a quick specialist consultation. I feel like I have an entire team of support when I take my babies to Northgate. Roxy lost her eye, but i was able to feel confident she was in the best hands! Thank you all for what you do!

We've been coming here for 13+ years. We use to drive up from Los Angeles just to make sure our dog gets the best care. Then when the doctors changed, we'd come only if we are in Manteca visiting family. Now....I am done. The entire staff changed. The front desk is no longer friendly. My blind dog had an ear emergency and the vet screwed up on a med and even saying on her notes she looked in my dog's ears with a scope...when both my husband and I KNOW she didn't. The next day...my dog stopped responding to sound. Freaked out we called right when they opened and Lori said she'll talk to the vet...Right after I got off the phone I called our vet in Newport Beach. Our vet at Newport followed-up, called me back several times. In the mean time, I was still waiting on Northgate. I eventually called Northgate twice more before I spoke with Jennifer who got me an appointment in an hour to check on his ears. Lazy Lori was never heard from, she didn't even smile when we walked in. WTF. Then proceeded to whisper with glances over at us as we sat there waiting. SERIOUS?? My dog is deaf...not us.... Finally saw the kind vet Megan Greer. She is the reason for the added star. She did a wonderful job covering their butt and more importantly making sure our dog is taken care of. She loves animals, that I can tell and great manners. Wished we saw her when we were there earlier in the week. She tried to look in our dogs ears with the scope and it took my husband and I to hold our dog down as he bark and whine and wiggle in pain. The screeching sound of pain hurts my heart. Yup my dogs ears were sooo swollen, she couldn't even see the ear drum of the left ear. And after that heart wrenching experience...we know for certain the last Vet never looked in his ear to see if his ear drum was in tact before prescribing drops that now may have made him permanently deaf. Either way. New medication was prescribed. Noticed the markup in cost is more than Taz's three other vets in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The entire ordeal for the ear infection at Northgate was about $295. Way more compared to his previous ear infection visit at his Newport Beach Vet with med and laser treatment. However cost is never an issue with us for good treatment. Heck, his optimologist is $250 per visit alone. Either way. Wished the service was better. No thanks to Lori for making the experience worst and not managing the situation. As annoyed and disappointed as I am, Dr. Megan Greer was awesome. I would return to this vet for her and her only. But it may also be time to seek out a better location.

I cannot imagine how a doctor can lack so much integrity?? And if this is her customer facing interaction...I seriously question how they are treating the animals! Our old Vet's office in Turlock changed ownership and they no longer had any of our dog's medical records, so we decided to just start over with a new vet. We found Dr Raj's reviews and decided to give him a try. We had a positive experience at this Vet's office. They keep a clean office, there is plenty of room in the waiting area to keep pets a safe distance from each other, and the staff was very professional in their handling of us. Dr Raj took the time to educate us about a few things, which I really appreciated. He examined our dog, who was scared and anxious about being at the Vet's office, with a very gentle hand and I could tell that he won her trust. The Vet's assistant was also very kind and informative, and I felt that she really took the time to connect with our dog as well. Dr Raj came up with a plan of action, and our dog is already showing signs of improvement in response to the treatment plan that we are faithfully following. I think we found our new Vet.

The woman who answered the phone didn't have amazing customer service but I was able to make a appointment and I trust my regular vet. The receptionist offered me 10:15 for the following day, which I wrote down and then at the end of the call confirmed 10:15. Later in the afternoon I received a text that I had an appointment at 10 am on the following day. 15 minutes may not seem like a big deal, but for someone like me who respects people's time, especially my own, it was frustrating. I left extra early because I did have some concerns and we arrived around 9:45 a.m. The parking lot was empty so we walked out dog around to let her potty before going in. The lobby is good sized with a decent amount of seating and there is a restroom for use. Check in and new patient registration was simple and we were seen within a reasonable time. I got the same feeling from the vet as I did from the receptionist, which wasn't great. There was no introduction or explanation. I only know what his name is now because it is listed on the receipt they emailed me. He checked her ears and mouth and immediately said she needed a dental cleaning. I explained she has them annually at our regular dentist and he stated "sometimes they need them more often". They have fliers for their dental cleanings on the wall and it just sort of felt like an immediate sales pitch, which I didn't like. Then, he grabbed her and turned her over without advising he was going to that, which made both my dog and I a bit uncomfortable and I ended up holding her so she would be calm. He offered to run tests but I explained again the two things we needed and he said he would give me a quote anyway and left the room. When the Veterinarian's Assistant came in, I had her remove the testing from the estimate and ok'd the things we did need. I am going to share the cost with you because I think it's helpful. We were charged: $59 for the exam, $35 for Bordetella, $98 for Cytopoint, and $12 for a medical waste fee. Our bill came to $204, however my credit card was charged $206.04. I was advised when I went to pay that there would be a 1% charge to use my credit card. I did not see a sign but the staff did tell me when I gave them my card just before I paid. I was fine with that and understand this is a common practice but again, with my time and money I am a meticulous person. I am always early and I save all receipts and log every transaction I make. I noticed later my receipt said $204 but my card was charged $$206.04. I contacted their office and asked for an updated receipt reflecting the charge and they replied "The credit card terminal charges 1% of the transaction amount." California law requires that the receipt accurately reflect the amount charged. If the surcharge isn't itemized, then the receipt is misleading and it looks like you were overcharged compared to the paperwork you were given. By law, businesses must give customers a truthful record of the transaction. Also, for comparison, our vet charges $44 for an office visit, $77 for Cytopoint and $1 for the Environmental Disposal Fee so their prices were definitely higher overall than what I typically pay. Ultimately my dog got what I brought her for but I do not know if I would choose to come to this office again.

Once I finally was able to commit to a date, the correspondence I received from TPA was clear and helpful. I was told when to begin restricting food/water, what time to arrive, and the details of the check-in process. As directed, I arrived by 8am and notified office staff. I was quickly greeted by the vet tech, Jill, who was absolutely the best. Jill was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. She let me see where the procedure would be preformed and where Zero would be held, and explained when/why she would call (if blood work was concerning, if it wasn't safe to sedate, if they had suggested extractions). Despite being nervous, Jill definitely helped me feel better about leaving my boy in her care. Since his bloodwork was fine, the next time I heard from Jill was when she called to share suggested extractions. She briefly reviewed the dentition of a dog, explained where there were areas of concern in Zero's mouth, and was able to give me monetary figures when asked. She took time to consider my follow-up questions and I felt the interaction was professional while being empathetic and frank. At no time did I feel that she was trying to upsell me or otherwise get more money out of me. When I picked Zero up, Jill came out holding him. She sat with me and reviewed his bloodwork line by line, his X-rays, and showed me before and after pictures of his teeth. She also provided me with clearly labeled medications. We talked about food and general aftercare, including what I might observe, and I felt comfortable about heading home. We are now at the tail end of recovery and Zero has done fantastic, and I truly attribute a lot of that to Jill & her efforts. Thank you!

We arrived around 8:30 AM for our dog's drop-off, and even though there were a lot of people already waiting, the process was surprisingly smooth. They clearly have an efficient system in place. After check-in, we were brought inside to speak with the vet, who walked us through everything and answered our questions. Thankfully, our pup was healthy and cleared for the procedure with no concerns. We got a call around 11 AM letting us know everything went well, with a pickup time at 1 PM, which gave our dog time to rest and recover from anesthesia. The procedure went well and he's recovering nicely. Overall, the experience was a 5/5 - friendly staff, efficient service, and incredibly affordable pricing. In addition to spay/neuter services, they also offer vaccinations and microchipping. For our 1-year-old, ~25 lb cockapoo, the total for neutering and microchipping was about $250, which is honestly unbeatable. If you're looking for high-quality, affordable care for your pet, I highly recommend checking this place out and booking an appt online or by phone.

As I headed down the side street of auto shops and junkyards mixed in with rundown late 20th century homes I began to brood. I found a spot to park and waited a few minutes until it was closer to my appointment time. Just as I exited my car, I saw a huge, loose German Shepherd walking near the back of my car. I stood and watched as he sauntered westward down Worth Street causing the myriad of dogs along the way, chained in yards and in cages and running loose in yards, to explode in barking, growling, jumping aggression towards him. Think of the Fresh Fish scene in Shawshank redemption. The shepherd was completely unphased. I waited for him to reach California before taking my 15lb dog out of the car. We walked very quickly down the middle of the street to our own chorus of maniacal barking and rushed inside the California Cat and Dog Hospital. When the door closed behind me, I attempted a deep breath of relief but the smell of ammonia, and other unknown and unpleasant odors, began immediately burning my nostrils. My disillusionment was growing rapidly as I walked up to the front counter and gave my name an appointment time. I looked to my left and saw a bulletin board with a photo of Dr. Kim that had a quote from him saying "Every pet that comes into the clinic is my pet!" and I immediately started to feel better. After a few minutes, his son Dr. John brought us back and I explained why we were there and what we needed. I noticed immediately that he was very kind and attentive. He actually physically examined my dog and listened to her chest and back with his stethoscope. He walked us through our options and was instead of presenting us with an estimate listing every fee, he advised us the approximate cost and was willing to be flexible with blood tests and some exams that weren't absolutely necessary at the moment because he understands they can be costly. We decided to to everything he advised regardless of cost and he was able to take our pup in and take care of her. When she started to come out of anesthesia, the staff called us and we were able to get there right away to pick her up. We were very surprised at the affordable cost, even with all the of things that were done. We also asked for pain medication for her and were given a little to take home at no extra cost. We could not have been happier with the care we received at California Dog & Cat Hospital! This place is so great that it was suggested we keep it to ourselves, but there can be no gatekeeping, especially with care like this so I had to write this review. I realize it is lengthy and possibly overly descriptive, but I think it was important because if you are willing to endure the location and the smells, you will be rewarded with gentle, affordable care for your fur babies. P.S. I logged in to write this on Feb 12 and they have updated/notified yelp that they will be closed (Lunar New Year). Most businesses can't even be bothered to put in their correct regular hours on the site so it's just another reminder of the thoughtfulness of the doctors here. I am so happy we found this place.
