I am the owner of a little Bichon Frise named Charlie. He was a rescue from the Downey shelter and when my family adopted him he barely weighed 7 lbs. Well Charlie is now healthy but he had never been groomed professionally. We took him to one groomer a couple of months ago and he was butchered. On a lark I inquired at Petco (Glendale store 522) if they had a groomer who specialized in my dog's breed and I was told to see Dinora Negrete. Well Charlie and I paid a visit to Dinora today for the first time and all we can both say is "WOW!" My little guy went in a mess and came out absolutely gorgeous. Been going here for a while and I've got to say that Frankie really cares for the animals before handing them off to a customer. He gave me a couple of pointers on how to really care for a reef the affordable way also including the best way to care for the inhabitants with minimal chances of them becoming deceased due to lack of knowledge. I shop here for both my cat and 2 dogs. The grooming service seems to have improved as the groomers now seem to like their jobs. There seems to be a shortage of workers to help in the store and at the checkout counter. Yesterday was no exception. There was only 2 checkout counters open and one of them had an issue with the computer. Will continue to go but the workflow needs to improve. read more

So disappointed . I went to this store today (May 20, 2016), around 8:45, to buy flea control for my 3lb tea cup dog. I found many types and brands of flea control. But I was confused and didn't know which one would be right for my dog, because my dog is 2.5 years but only weights 3 lb (people who have small bread will understand). I would't want to harm my dog by applying wrong item or wrong dose. So I approached to the cashier and asked her to call someone for help. Her answer was "We have products on the shelfs, just read what it says on the box". Do yourself a favor and skip this place. The staff in the fish department is not helpful and worse of all, did not tell me I had to cycle my fish tank before they sold me their sick fish. Of all the Petco stores in the area, this is the worse one and the prices are higher by about 20 percent higher than elsewhere. Skip it and go to a specialty store. Its way worth it. read more

Horrible horrible service. I overhead a man ask an employee what their hours were. His response? "I dunno but I'm outta here in 1/2 hour!" Brace yourself for a long checkout line because they are consistently understaffed and when you do checkout prepare for an untrained employee to ignore you. I have finally reached my limit with these guys! No more I say! After months of terrible service in varied forms: -Insisting you don't carry a product and try to sell me something else-only to find the product I'm looking for ON THE SHELF myself. -spraying my dog with some hideous perfume after I request HYPO-ALLEGENIC! (And then looking on the bottle of perfume to see if it says hypo-allergenic! LOL) -answering the phone like it's your apartment- "hello" ? Isn't it a good idea to let people know they called the right establishment? -chomping gum and slurping a 72 oz. soda while asking me if I'm a P.A.L.S. member -Ringing me up for a $29.99 Raiders Jersey when I bought a $19.99 L.A. Dodgers t-shirt and telling me I have to drive back to the store with the t-shirt and my receipt to correct the mistake you made. NO! I will not. Send me a check. We just rescued a kitten off the street. We rushed to petco to grab flea shampoo, collars, food and medication. A bit overwhelmed with all the product we asked a salesperson for some help. I especially really love the groomer in particular, Talar. she is so great with my dog and I love coming back to her. She is so sweet, kind, caring, and treats my dog with ultimate care. Now that I am a proud mama of the cutest little puppy, I spoil him so much by getting him the best of the best, and Petco has it. Whether it's food, treats, toys I get him something every time I visit Petco. Love the cute assortment of treats that look like real cookies. If possible, I would give zero stars. Terrible customer service!! I called three times for the grooming department yesterday and they didn't even bother to answer their phone. The groomer on the front who supposedly is an old guy was totally out of his mind today as I went to pick up my dog from grooming. I took the medicated shampoo that was to be used and didn't get it back. Now I'm taking the time to go back to get it. Also, this morning I wasn't greeted with a smile. Possibly will complain to them about customer service!! I would recommend going to Healthyspot for grooming in Silverlake! Petco grooming used to be great in the past years but now it's just horrible!! Never going back to Petco grooming in the next couple months. after reading Shawnee H.'s review, i definitely think they need to work on their hamster care. the same thing happened when i purchased a hamster and they told me they would call me and i could pick him up when he got better. thankfully, he did but petco did NOT call me back like they said they would. i had to come back to the store to see him on the shelf ready to be sold. one star for being clean compared to the ones in pasadena, burbank and san gabriel. read more

Not really a big fan of petco. I don't find it to be that cheap and it's almost always dirty. This location, however, is better than the one I usually go to in LA, but I've experienced better than this. Not much to say. I used to take my dog here to be groomed, but she went to the great beyond. When I got my new dog, I took her here and they didn't do a very good job on her, so I take her to the groomers at the vet. That being said, they have a great selection and a good bit of their items are reasonable. Cool things they do have are antlers (way better for dogs than rawhides) and Nature's Balance treats and dog food (no fillers and awesome). The staff is helpful and if you don't like what you buy (or it doesn't work), you can take it back, as long as you keep the receipt--I'm loving that policy. I am deathly allergic to cats....meaning I could actually die if they are even in the same room as I am. I even have asthma attacks when exposed to someone who has cats. Most pet stores have an enclosed area for cat adoptions. I was surprised to see cat adoptions taken place right inside the entrance of the store. I drove there to get my dog some food and was unable to even step foot into the store. When I yelled inside asking why they aren't in an enclosed area since many are allergic to cats, the salesperson was completely apathetic towards my concerns. read more

I mean, I've seen some nasty aquarium stores while living in LA but this strikes a low that I can barely stomach. Here's the thing..I am not big on chain stores. But I guess I have an exception for this store. I've been bringing my dogs here with me for out dog food trips for almost five years. It's a clean store, always well stocked and kept together. Most of the people who work there are pretty nice. I would advise going here in the mornings as it gets really crazy in the evenings. I wouldn't want to be one of those employees listening to screaming kids and the constant squeaking from dog toys all night long. I just started taking my dogs there for grooming. I used to always do the local mom and pop places but wasn't always sold on them so decided to give petco grooming a try. Totally happy. The groomers are nice, they have a dedicated person working the front and the prices are about the same as the smaller shops. And they do have a nice clean workspace which i guess is one of the perks of a big company. The prices are all listed on the website, so there are no surprises. Let's face it, when you're a crazy dog mom, it's fun to take your pup out for a little petco outing. This is a good one. Usually after being in a store 15-20 minutes, looking around, I like to be asked if I need something. Even when I don't. The employers would walk right past me with out greeting me or even acknowledging me. Finally after asking for help I was pointed in a direction with little effort. Been going to PETCO GLENDALE for years and on my last visit they harmed my precious dog. They clipped her leg and forced me to take her to doggie urgent care. They stitched her up and now my poor doggy is limping. PETCO hasn't paid for this injury nor have they contacted me to check up on the injury. The surgeon advised me that my dog might need an additional surgery which will cost me $3000. This is such a bad establishment that I cant believe all these years i've gave them my business. This review is for the grooming department! I love their staff.. Very nice and friendly.. My only complaint is when my dog was done.. It literally looked like we were the ones that groomed him. The cut was a little messy and uneven and when I asked him to be fluffed out I meant for him to be blow dried and combed out. He's a toy poodle so I wanted him to have that teddy bear look. You can tell they just left him under a dryer and let him dry that way. Definitely not worth the money for something we could've done at home. But 3 stars for friendly staff! read more

After having w horrible experience at the Van Nuys location I decided to come to this location. I went from having a bad experience at the other location to worse at this location. I don't understand why you got employees who work there but don't want to work???? After 20min of searching every isle to flag down and employee I got lucky to find one. As im talking to him he is walking as if he is going to help me and guide me to what I'm looking for. I'm side to side with him and next thing you know he completely brushed me off and walked to the register to ring a customer up. My goodness what planet are you from? I just walked out! Screw u! I had the worst experience taking my Shi Tzu for a first time grooming she is 9 months old at the time I took her there on 8/01/17 To get a very specific trim on her beautiful long coat and a nail trim as well. My dog was in heat and I let the groomers know and to please be watchful and careful for I don't want her to have puppies yet. So she was there for four hours and when I went to pick her up I was in a rush and did not pay much attention to the hair I had to meet with a client I am self employed, but as I carried her she did not feel fully dried. When I had time to take a good look at her I noticed her hair was chopped on her head and all the instructions where ignored, on top of that she developed a skin infection a day later for she wasn't well rinsed and dried, she was chewing herself raw and pulled her hair off. I washed her again at home two days after I just did not understand what was happening with her, but she felt better after I gave her a bath. She started to get better after that but her period stopped short she only had it for six days and it could last up to 14 days. I wasn't going to complain about the terrible job they did on her however 2 weeks passed by and her nipples got engorged, and started to look like they are filled with milk . I called the manager and I exposed the situation about a possible pregnancy and he assured me that my dog did not get bred in their establishment. However I have never left my dog out of sights he was never touched by any male un-nuttered dog, so I know that she did not get pregnant on my watch. It had been close to three weeks now and the false pregnancy is still there and her tits are still filling up. Petco manager said there is video of the whole time she was there but never offered to show it to me to help put me at ease that my dog did not get pregnant there. So we will see. Terrible after math... they did refund the grooming fee but that will not compensate the trauma my dog went through with this horrible skin infection and if she's pregnant who is going to be responsible for these puppies? read more
