This Petco store is great! Really quiet and nice to just browse around. The employees here are super friendly. I asked a simple question about a dog grooming item (as seen on TV nail grinder) and the girl cashier was very helpful and honest. She helped me find a better solutions for my dog and his temperament. I love this store so much, everyone is so friendly and I often take our 2 fur babies here because they love to socialize and get lots of attention. Everyone is very knowledgeable and has been so helpful with any questions or needs for our senior dog and our 7 month old puppy. Aimee is wonderful, sweet, and very knowledgeable about food, treats, and pets in general. I love when she is working because our puppy is very fond of her and she is always able to answer any questions that we have. I wish we could get the same kind of customer service that Aimee provides everywhere we go, she is exceptional! Peggy is amazing as well, she is very knowledgeable and her love of animals is very apparent. We have taken 4 puppy classes so far with her and our little Chihuahua pup has come so far in just a matter of a few weeks with her training. My husband never has had a dog before so she is doing a great job teaching him as well...lol. Rene is a helpful, nice, and friendly manager who is hand to help with anything that is needed as well. Finally, Mikali is THE BEST groomer ever! We will only take our 2 fur babies to her because she greets them when they come and they just love to see her so that means that they must be just as happy as I am when they get groomed. Our fur babies come out with such soft, lightly fragranced fur. There nails are trimmed perfectly and we couldn't be happier with her beautiful work. Thanks to everyone at our local Petco pet store. I'm giving this Petco 4 stars for service. I went in today looking for a lift harness for my elderly dog. I had been to Petsmart earlier where I couldn't find a soul to help me. At Petco I was immediately greeted by a smiling employee. I asked if they carried the harness. She wasn't sure and immediately asked another employee for help. Eventually another employee came over to assist as well. In the end they didn't have what I needed but I was grateful that they had tried to help me by asking others for assistance and offered potential alternative solutions. read more

over a year and a half of very average service. the people aren't warm. i saw a woman handle a dog aggressively when he wouldnt stop squirming. i found left over cotton in my dogs ear that was still very dirty and my dog hates going there and is grouchy for the rest of the day after we take him there. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but after having a poor experience at a different petco I have to write about how great this one is! This review is for the grooming salon. I started getting my dog groomed at the salon the first week it opened I believe. The staff was always very friendly to me, and would do the best they could to make my dog comfortable. In the beginning they often had computer problems but were always very nice and accommodating about it. The same girl ALWAYS groomed my dog, and after a while he ended up remembering her, which made the experience SO much better. I wish I could remember her name so you can request her. Anyways the staff is friendly, and always lets me know about what grooming deals they have going on, and the best part is they always remembered us. I wish I hadn't moved away because I have not had a better grooming experience anywhere else! read more

This Petco features employees who really aren't interested in helping customers. They are very busy complaining about their work environment, and how they are upset with each other. They do not greet you nor take notice of you. So on any given day, we would walk in and experience a horrible smell, and see really dirty areas in the store. These conditions never changed, we never saw any employees cleaning up the unsafe pools of water on the floor, or cleaning the small animal cages. The restrooms really take the cake, however: these look like they have never been cleaned. And we are talking walls, sinks and toilets. I wrote to Petco corporate after I mentioned these concerns to the employees who had the attitude of don't know, don't care. Corporate wrote back that the District Manager had been contacted for followup. That was almost 2 months ago. I can tell you that today when I walked in, the store did not smell any more, and looked cleaner. But the Hamster/Rat cages still haven't been changed in a while, though and the restrooms are still ugly. Don't bother buying fish here: they do all die, and the prices for fish tank filters are very expensive. Go to Pet Extreme instead. read more

Went in twice asking about the price on a dog house. They are high up on a shelf, they attempt to get the sku, go back doesn't come up, they say around 140 bucks, me thinks not! WHAT is the price I ask again, well we cant read the sku, REALLY! Well I will take my business else where, petsmart does a great job every time we go in. I bought a Guinea Pig yesterday and sadly it didn't survive the night. We did everything they suggested to take care of it. Today I came back to the store, the sales associate was really nice and understanding, I was sad, especially for my daughter since she chose it and found it dead. A supervisor was called, I think her name is Katherine, she was so RUDE!!!! made me feel guilty and it blame it on us, "I told you, you should leave it alone, they need time to adapt or they die", that's the only thing she said, worst costumer service ever! many years ago this Petco was NOT good. This is before they remodeled and put in the pet salon. I used to complain about the condition of some of the pets for sale, especially the fish :( I stopped going there but gave them a chance when they opened the pet salon! Since then, they have been wonderful! My big doggie Oski gets a nice bath and gets greeted at the store afterwards while he chooses his treats. The grooming people always remember him and he seems to be ok when I pick him up.. No complaints anymore and hoping it stays that way. read more

I purchased a dog costume and harness in the Walnut Creek store and was told by the employee that i could return either if it didnt work. I live closer to the Dublin store and called to see if they had the costume in a larger size as the one I purchased was too small. I was told my the associate that answered (Alexis) that she checked with the manager (Shasta) who said costumes, leashes and harnesses are not returnable once they leave the store for any reason, used or not. I asked Alexis several times if this was the stores main manager and she said yes. I asked to and spoke with Shasta who also kept saying they were the store manager. Shasta refused to return or exchange my items. I called the Walnut Creek store who was more than happy to return the items. I know PET SMART has the best customer service as does the Petco in W.C.. ATTENTION DUBLIN PETCO, TOYS-R-US WENT OUT OF BUSINESS THANKS TO POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AMAZON!!!!! I urge the Dublin petco customers to drive to walnut creek or just go to pet smart. read more

There grooming dept is horrible. I scheduled a grooming 3 days ago and called this morning to confirm and they told me the lady that was going to do the grooming wont be back till Monday. They told me on the phone 3 days ago that I could wash my dog before hand and they would just do the grooming and not charge for the bath since I would do it before. Today the reason they moved it is because they said the girl who is willing to break company policy on this is coming on Monday and they wont do it today even though there is staff there to do grooming. This place is super shady and the manager should be fired for allowing this kind of practice!!!! Do not recommend, we were not even happy the last time they groomed... try Oksana's in San Ramon or Shampooches in San Ramon... They are much for professional and friendly. read more

My rating is only for the grooming department. Today I took my Maltese puppy to get groomed for the first time and the groomer said she will cut the eye hairs, feet, tummy area, trim the nails, & clean/pluck ears. When I picked my dog up, I was in shock. The top of his head was trimmed with the rest of his body hair long. Not only was the top of his head not supposed to be cut, it was all butchered and uneven. I asked her why she cut his hair on his head & she said I told you I was going to get around his eyes. If that is what she thinks is acceptable, you've got to be kidding me. She offered to even it out but even after that it looked horrible. Then I asked how he was during the process & she said really good. So I confirmed with her that she cleaned his ears & she said yes, so I flipped his ear over & looked inside and it was full of hair.... then she said, I did what he would allow me to do. She just said he was really good, so why wasn't his ears cleaned?!?! They did not even dry him completely because he was damp and his hair was very wavy. I give my puppy a bath very often and when he's blowdried his hair his very straight & fluffy, not wavy & stuck together. I didn't even want to bother asking her to blow dry him and pluck his ears. I was already over my experience. I'm very disappointed in my puppy's first & LAST experience at Petco grooming. I definitely do not recommend taking your dog here for a haircut. read more

I'd like to give this place a 5 star for the normal customer service iv had. The last time I was in my daughter wanted to see the animals. We went over to the grooming area, and I'm sad to say if I ever needed grooming I would never come her. One girl stormed in the back after getting off the phone took over for the other girl as she watched.the clippers in the back and glared at us as we were watching only to look down, not even greeting us. I guess she naturally assumed my daughter would bang on the glass, she didn't even come close(she is very well behaved) I thought maybe she missed us and that's why she didn't even flash a smile. My daughter pointed at the dog from a distance as she was very excited, yet again a nasty glare. It was very obvious she saw us but we were clearly not welcomed. Both girls sat there talking to each other, one of them with her back to us. Very sad as every time I have come in the rest of the staff was abundantly welcoming. I can only hope she doesn't groom these animals in the same negative context, I would certainly not want her even petting my dog. read more

I bought a dog harness here a few weeks ago. The assistant manager really went above and beyond to help me. He helped me try multiple types and sizes of harnesses on my puppy and explained the differences. He then rang me up and removed the tags for me so I could put it on her then and there. I always enjoy visiting and shopping at the Dublin Petco. Most recently I was there over the President's Weekend, and the store was pretty crowded. When I went to check out, there were 8 or 9 others in line with only one customer service rep. working the registers. She was so patient and tried her best. Some impatient people, rudely left. But she kept her cool and served everyone as quickly as she could. Dont know where the other workers were, it seems like management should have had more workers in the store. read more

We are new to the area and have had trouble finding a good grooming salon for our husky, until this week when we brought him to Petco! Stephanie did an amazing job, she took her time and brushed him all out. His shedding has been almost non-existent! It was obvious she took pride in her job, our dog just loved her. Went there tonight for the first time in years. Very neat and clean store with a great selection. I was happy until I reached the checkout. The cashier did not greet me...he rang up my items and the only words he spoke to me were "here's your receipt." Is it too hard to say "Hi" and "thank you?" They weren't busy...they had 3 people at the register when I put my items up. I won't go back there. It's the little things that make customers return. read more
