I'm never disappointed taking cream puff to this location for grooming. I admit it's a bit pricey and it gets busy around the holiday season but everyone there is so nice and accommodating. I know my dog will be safe coming here (which is the most important thing) and I also know that she'll come back looking great. This was my first time taking my small dog (Yorkie) Zoey here to get groomed and Madison groomed her. She did such a good job! I was seriously so happy! She cut her exactly the way I explained and actually listened to the details. It's so hard to find a good groomer who doesn't cut my dogs paw, because I had a bad experience with my last groomer who cut up my dogs paw pad made her bleed & the paw got infected I had to take her to the vet. She had to wear a cone for a week, it was so depressing I think I hated it more than my dog. I just wanted to give Madison a shout out for being careful, caring and friendly. We have been coming here for about 2 years, since we got our two boxer pups. The store is very clean and they offer a great variety of food, supplies, bedding, crates...you name if...for every single pet you may have. They offer a pet grooming service as well. They have pet adoptions and are very knowledgeable with all of their products. You can tell the staff enjoys their jobs, really loves animals and are kind people. Dierdre recently relocated to this location to do pet grooming & she's still awesome! She works with the animals very well & breaks down all of the packages to the owners when you first arrive. She's been grooming my doggies for years & does an excellent job so I highly recommend her. I'm a Chihuahua owner so my puppy has very dry, flakey fur so I had to get some fish oil for his daily food intake. Fallyn was very friendly & knowledgeable. She helped me find everything I needed & provided excellent customer service with a smile. She also has a Chihuahua so it was nice to chat with someone who knew a lot about that breed. I am extremely disappointed and saddened by the Petco in the corona crossings. We are long time returning customers, however we have had several reoccurring altercations with an employee named Ashley in the fish department. When going into the store, my daughter and I were just trying to return a fish that had died. But she had made the fish dying feel like it was our fault. TALE OF A DISHEARTENED SCHOOL GIRL Stopped in here to purchase all of the materials to make a closed aquatic ecosystem for my daughter's science project. This is something we researched together and would have been a fun project. We needed to buy gravel, substrate, water plants, tiny little shrimp, snails, and some decorations. We walked into the store with a printout explaining what we needed, as well as how the ecosystem works, detailing the fact that each item in the ecosystem is there in order to help all the others survive. It is possible to seal this ecosystem up tight for a decade and have everything live in perfect harmony. I also brought printed instructions on what to do if it becomes out of balance, how to correct the problem(s) that can possibly occur, and I was going to purchase the items I would need in case this happened. This seemed like a great little project for a 6th grade student interested in animals, bodies of water, the environment, etc. Upon showing the printout to a tall, portly guy who worked there, he quickly told me that they do not provide fish for experiments, and that he would not sell me the shrimp and snails that I need, but he would sell me a betta fish if I kept the lid off. I explained that defeated the whole purpose, and that I needed everything on my list and needed to seal the tank after everything was in it. He said everything would die. I urged him to look at the printout I had brought explaining how the ecosystem would actually thrive with everything in perfect harmony. He was too stupid to really listen to me or look at the facts I had brought along. I had hit a brick wall. He wouldn't even sell me the plants, telling me, "You're better off going to the nursery down on Temescal Canyon Road". I have been to that nursery, and I don't remember seeing any aquatic plants. This guy was obviously not going to help us, and was in fact trying to get rid of us. It was time to go elsewhere. But then sitting in our vehicle in the parking lot, googling where the next nearest fish store is, we decided, "Hell no, we won't go". We went back in and asked to speak with the manager. I was hoping to share all of our research and information with somebody with an IQ higher than a salamander. Alas, we were told the manager would be here in a minute. Hooray! We wouldn't have to drive 12 minutes to the next fish store. Everything was going to be good. Somebody with a functioning brain was going to help us. But then the manager came walking up. It was the same douche nozzle who wouldn't sell us the fish. I asked, surprisingly, "You're the manager???", amazed that such a closed-minded dipshit could climb the Petco ladder to manager. He replied, "No, I'm the acting manager". That made more sense. When there isn't a manager at the store, he gets to act like the manager but doesn't get any more pay. Once again, this guy is not the brightest. Needless to say, I was not able to change his mind. He was again able to successfully ignore the information that I was trying to thrust in front of his stupid face. It wasn't a donut, and he wasn't interested. His response was still, "Get the fuck out of my store you disgusting pieces of shit." Not exactly in those words, but it might as well have been. Because he feared for the lives of four tiny little cherry shrimp, two little snails, and some plants, my daughter will not experience nature in balance (or out of balance) in a jar on the shelf in her bedroom. This could have led to huge things for her. It could have encouraged her to become the next big conservationist, developing new ways to filter ocean water to quench the thirst of third world countries. The sad fact is that we will never know. Now she might just turn out to be the kid living on the street, breaking car windows and stealing stereos to pay for her crack habit because she lost faith when the guy at Petco stole her dreams in the 6th grade. Hopefully if that's the case, she breaks into this "Acting Manager" douche bag's car. She will know where to find his car 10 years from now when she's trying to score that next hit. It will still be in the parking spot labeled "Acting Manager" at the Petco store in Corona, California. And finally, a message to Petco -- when you value the lives of some tiny little cherry shrimp and a couple of snails over your customer's, it's time to reevaluate your policies. read more

Unfortunately, this is my closest pet store. Actually, here, I'll just paste the email I wrote to PetCo corporate: Hi, I recently moved and am now close to your location in Corona, CA. After having shopped at PetSmart for years, I was excited to see what my new local pet store had to offer. I went in to PetCo with my 6 year old mild-Autistic son to get a a couple new fish to add to our fish tanks. Our fish have been a great blessing at helping him with many of his challenges. After not being able to find anyone in aquatics to help us, I went back to the front of the store and a cashier paged someone to help us. A lady named Ashley or Amber met us in aquatics and we told her which fish my son had picked out. She rudely asked what size tank we have and what fish we have in it. After answering her, she said she couldn't (or wouldn't) sell us any fish because the size tanks we had (10 gallons and 20 gallons) were not big enough or that one fish could potentially be aggressive towards another fish. First, I was shocked that she so rudely asked about our equipment and fish, and second, that she refused to sell us anything. I've never been treated like that before. As my sad and confused son started looking for a different fish to pass through the gate keeper, another family with a little daughter had chosen a fish and Ashley/Amber went through the same questions and told them that she could not sell them a fish they picked out. They tried 4 more fish and she said no. Finally, regarding one of the fish they wanted, Ashley/Amber told them, "No you can't buy just one of those. They are schooling fish and yes, even though we sell them individually, I cannot just sell you one or two, I have to sell you at least 5, and your tank isn't large enough for 5 of these. The only fish I can sell you is a platy, a tetra, or a minnow. So chose one of those or I can't sell you anything." I was blown away. A couple weeks later I went back hoping that 1. Amber/Ashley wouldn't be there, 2. if she was, hopefully she was just having a bad day and wouldn't be so rude. She was there, and treated us the same way. I told her that I would not answer her questions and that I simply wanted to buy a fish. She said she will not to sell a fish to anyone who refuses to answer her questions. I asked for a manager and a lady whose first name starts with C spoke to me. I asked her if there is a company policy that allows employees to ask those questions and even refuse service and she said yes. She said they are allowed to ask 1. what size tank 2. what fish are in it 3. about the filter 4. about the heater, 5. and about one other thing that I can't remember. I asked her to see the policy and she said they don't have it in the store, but I can contact corporate who will verify this. There are two points to this email, 1. to alert you to how customers are being treated at the Corona California Petco, and 2. obtain your policies on selling fish. Namely, how many gallons must an aquarium have for each species you sell, which species can be in the same tank together, which species cannot be in the same tank together, can schooling fish be sold individually as they are priced individually or do they have to be sold in groups, how many of each species is the maximum for a certain size tank, etc. Certainly Petco has an extensive policy with all these and many more variables clearly laid out, or are your employees acting outside of their authority? Very poor care in the reptile section as far as the chameleons go. The bottom of the cage is covered in dirt, which they were eating. Told someone and they said the chameleon we were specifically talking about had already had vet visits... and looks like they will have to take him again for impaction. My husband and I took our Boston Terrier pup today for his first Groom with Jai and she did an amazing job! She was very knowledgeable and she was so kind and patient with him. He absolutely loved her. We are always skeptical leaving our pup anywhere because he can be nervous sometimes but she knew exactly what to do, she explained everything to us in detail, step by step which was so much appreciated. I'm a frequent shopper there lately as my fish hobby has taken off. But honestly their fish are always sick. I'm in there once a week to grab some supplies and every time I go by the fish tanks, there is dead fish either being picked at by other fish or stuck in their filtration systems. Ich is present in almost all the tanks. One time I came in, whoever was treating the ich literally placed UNDISOLVED aquarium salt in the tanks and a couple fish were being badly burned stuck in the salt pile unable to swim from it. They have some really great sales on some equipment but they need to resolve their filtration system. The ich has been in their tanks since I started my hobby in January. I stupidly bought a pearlscale goldfish from them last month when their "Under observation" signs were down, asked the associate if these fish were infected by anything and she told me no, so of course I believed her -- what a huge mistake that was. Came back 8 days later as the ich and fin rot the pearlscale had killed the poor thing (My other goldies became infected and I consequently lost a snail from the medicating) They had brand new pearls in that tank. How convenient. I wasn't able to get a refund for my dead fish because of my water quality but my water quality was topsy turvey because I was water changing every other day to treat the dang ich and finrot. I had to stop by 2 days later to grab another heater for my quarantine tank since I didn't want to medicate in my maintank. OBSERVATION SIGN BACK UP AGAIN. THE PEARLS (And other fish in the coldwater section) ARE COVERED IN ICH. Stop selling sick fish to people -- and putting your signs up and down! read more

I made a yelp account just for the sole purpose of telling everyone never to go to any petco around corona. They do not answer their phones!!! I have been trying to set up an appointment for my two dogs for three days now and no one has answered!! The voicemail states that they can't answer right now because they are busy doing something else, but I've been trying every single hour and no one is picking up! This store has the worst customer service I have ever seen. When I worked and heard a phone call it was mandatory to answer the phone. If we were busy, it was still mandatory to answer the phone to notify the guest that the store was busy, or to hold on the line for a few minutes until I'm free. This store probably doesn't even care that there's a person calling them. Never go to this store because they don't appreciate answering their phones no matter how many times you call them. I went in to buy a turtle and they were very helpful when he was explaining different things about them. I was with my daugher and she was very excited to get a turtle which i promised her. After about 20 mins of him telling me about the turtles, I said ok we will take one turtle. He replied I cannot sell it to you because the water turtle will escape from my pond. Then I told him, you haven't even seen my pond. I began to tell him I have a ledge so the turtle will not escape. Then he said I can't sell him because the weather is too cold. I understand if it isnt the right time to put a turtle outdoors but lead off with that. It seemed to me he already made his decision to not sell me a turtle before i even wanted to buy it. I began to say so I am a paying customer and ready to purchase a turtle and your turning me down. His reply in a sarcastic voice "I am not going to sell you a turtle, just for it to DIE!" As I walked away i could hear him talking to another couple and there kid that he would sell a turtle that is going to die!. I think that is so unprofessional to turn and talk to another customer about what we were talking about because they didn't know the conversation and made me look like I was going to just kill the turtle. I seriously couldn't believe what transpired at this store. I even contacted the Corporate Office and they did nothing or contacted me back about how i was treated there. So I bought some tetras this weekend from petco to add to my tank. Bringing them home I already had 2 of my 5 tetras die. I had not even taken the rubber band off the bag. But I wasn't worried because the other tetras were fine and I thought the other two might have just been weak. I went back to petco the next day and brought them the fish. & I told them I didn't give them a water sample because they did not even go in my tank yet. The lady was like oh I need the water still even if the water has nothing to do with it. So I went home and have them the water and they down me my pH was low but not in anything dangerous. So even though my tank was pretty much perfect except for a little pH problem which I agreed to buy the solution for they refused to sell me fish. So I ignored it. 3 days later... Everything was fine with my aquarium until I noticed white speckles on my ghost shrimp, pleco, betta, and catfish. I knew right away that my fish had ick which is a parasite. I went to petco and got the medicine the lady recommended and my fish were not getting better. Then finally after buying all these things to help my fish... A lady at the cash register told me they quarantined tanks in the back. I go back there and look and it was the tank my tetras had come out of. I told them my fish came out of their and they told me it's okay the fish will get better with the medicine. So I did everything the bottle said to do. & the next day all my fish were at the top of the tank dead. Never but fish from this petco. They do not monitor their fish enough to know they are having a parasitic breakout. & now I have suffered from it and all my fish are now dead due to their aquatic staffs negligence. read more

I drove all the way from Riverside to purchase/adopt a pet mouse. We had all the gear: little cage, water bottle, food, litter, ball, etc. from a short lived hamster we had owned a few months prior. We initially went to the pet store that's local (Elliott's for pets), but all their mice were white: bred for food for snakes, etc. Then we hit up Petco off Tyler and they had NO mice. So when we finally got to this location it was a relief that they had an adorable little brown mouse for me to adopt. I was super excited and quickly waved down the rodent customer service rep (idk what else to call her). I excitedly told her I wanted this mouse and pointed to the cute little thing. She snarled at me, "Why do you want a mouse?". My instant reaction was to be a smart ass and I responded, "So I can eat it for dinner". She obviously wasn't happy with my answer ... if looks could kill. She told me I couldn't purchase a mouse unless I bought all the supplies. I told her what I had. She insisted that what I had wouldn't suffice. The brand of litter I have would cause the mouse to have asthma. I needed wooden chew blocks and vitamins for the water. She said my 10 gallon aquarium wasn't big enough. Then she told me to get a cart, purchase what she told me to, then I could get a mouse. We laughed in her face, left, and went to Elliott's for pets, adopted a white baby mouse, and GUESS WHAT!? It's thriving and happily. It didn't get asthma and it is a happy little guy. That chick was psycho. I will never go there again. They're mean to their animals, buy from breeding factories, do not handle or hold their animals and reptiles; then act like I'M GOING TO MURDER and neglect a $3 mouse and refuse to sell me it because I don't want to drop $100 on it. Petco sucks. If you want QUALITY reptiles, freshwater and saltwater fish, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and pet supplies then go to ELLIOTT'S FOR PETS on Brockton in Riverside. Worth the drive. The only thing I dislike about this Petco is the staff. Most of the people who work here are either snotty and grumpy looking, or think they're better than you. Once I went to buy a mouse, and she asked me 20 questions about their care. I am an experienced mouse owner, so I casually replied that I knew what I was doing. When I selected a cage, she squawked that I couldn't put them in there and started freaking out. She wouldn't sell me the animal and I had to get another associate to help. I don't know what her problem is, but she also gave me the same trouble when I went to go buy a fish!! Nice quick easy stop today. Ran in to get some kitty food, and walked right up to the register, no line! Yeah!

I had received an email from Petco on buying your items online and pick it up from the store. I attempted to do that but it wouldn't allow me to pick it up at the store pick it up at the store, only by mail. The sale price for the dog food was $23.88 for a case of twelve but now if its mailed it goes to $27.48 case. I called customer service and was told that's just the way it is and to go to the store and get it at the sale price. So off to the store I went. When I got to the store I picked up three different flavors of the same dog food and headed to the register. I asked an employee about the price difference because at the store they were showing it at full price not the sale price. Rather than telling me it would be corrected at the register she told me that they don't sell this food by the case. This is stacked for the customer in two options single cans or by the case. Its the same price if you buy twelve single cans or a case. Anyway she took me to a register up front to talk to a manager named Cat. I showed her the price it shows on the website and she told me she would honor that price. She went into tell me that they couldn't sell me the case they would have to ring it up twelve separate times. I asked if she could ring it up 12 @ $1.99 and she told me no they all had to be rung up separately. Well after telling me that she didn't even do that she opened the case and took one can out and scanned it twelve times. Then she looked at the next case then looked on my iPad and scrolled it up and seen the price if I had bought it online. She told me she would have to charge me that price because I was buying different flavors. I told her they are all the same price and asked her to look at the price and she told me no. Then she left to talk to the manager after she told me she was and came back and told me that they are in both agreement that I should pay different prices even though the sale price is $1.99 can on all four flavors. I left the store without purchasing these items and they had a few remarks when I left. From the parking lot I called customer service and explained what had happened. They were able to get me the items and mail them to me for free. The two people I dealt with at this store were rude, very unprofessional and have no common sense. It is a great store, everything is nice and organized but Customer Service at this location is really bad. First nobody is in any department, I had to look for somebody with the only cashier that was there that by the way completely ignored me. I was patient and went back to the fish department from where I needed help. Finally I found somebody and asked for help. They guy said I will help you as soon I finish. I was in a hurry so I just ask for a fish, he asked me some questions about my tank and ended saying that I couldn't get the fish that I want, that it is impossible. I told him that Petco from Menifee says that was ok.... he argued with me saying that they don't know what they are doing. It is ok to agree and disagree but at this point it is all about customer service and this guy was not polite at all, and instead of telling me "you know what, you can't have this fish, but maybe this other one".... no, he totally shut me down, made me feel like stupid as I should know about fishes and walk out of the store empty handed. This store location needs to improve the personnel and have some customer service training including the increase of the staff so they don't have customer walking around asking for help. read more
