I love coming here because the people are very nice and I I love the manager that works at this location. Unfortunately I have to write my first bad review for this location. I'm writing this in regards to hoping they fix the problem. I just called customer service to have some question about a service on the menu and the guy that I had spoke to on the phone was rude and very Unknowledgeable. 1) grooming is closed right at 4pm on a regular business day which honestly I thought they close at 5 or 6pm not 4 way to early. 2) he responded to me like I was dumb stating that it's just a trim well I know about that much but was wondering what would be the most inches they could cut off with that specific service example 1-2 inches . 3) he didn't know and told me to call back the next day not even informing me that the grooming department is already closed for the day very unprofessional at this point and to top the cherry if you don't know then you should probably call in the manager to get that information that's with any business 4) I thanked him and he said absolutely nothing and hung up the phone that's very unprofessional as well. You always let you customer know that your there to help and answer any questions you may have without being rude and unprofessional. With your customers you always want to end your conversation with is there anything else I can help you with today if not they you can let them off the phone by saying well I hope you enjoy the rest of your day thank you and good bye. read more

I take my Mini Schnauzer here all the time & everything is usually great, and they always tell me that he is well behaved. But this time after I got home I realized that some of his skin was showing near his behind where he should've had short hair. Looked as if he had been shaved to close. The store has a very large selection of items, which is great, but can make it hard to find things. The problem is there is absolutely no one working here to help people. After walking around for a while, and finding no one at all to help me, I had to wait in line for the cashier to call for someone. When someone was finally called to help me it was the rudest employee I have ever encountered. She pointed to the item I was looking for as she walked by it, and walked off without a word. When I commented, "wow," she said "yes they are hard-to-find ..." as she walked away, speaking over her shoulder. I replied that I was just surprised by how rude she was, and she vaguely told me to have a good day.. Not worth the trip; I will be ordering online from now on. read more

I recently had my dog groomed here, I have always taken Cooper to cage free holistic groomers but I saw their work and wanted them to give Cooper the great haircut I saw they had given other dogs. While I was not and am still not a fan of my dog sitting in a cage all day waiting to get his hair did I will say, he recieved the best haircut he has had in almost a year. They listened to exactly what I wanted and he left feeling and looking great! We will absolutely be coming back for all of our grooming needs. read more

Typical petco. Nothing fancy. Employees were helpful in getting me some fish. They had very healthy fish, I might add.

I went to Petco to buy a specific clothing item for my pet to calm him down. I asked one of the employees for help (died red hair, tall, older, raspy smoker voiced woman) and she was really mean, hostile and intimidating. I asked for the item and she pointed me in the right direction and we found it was not there. Then she started suggesting other items that would help. I told her that was not what I wanted because it would not help. (I knew this from experience). Then she continues with chemical offers so I say thank you, I will keep looking around. She got upset and said maybe I should try going to another store, so I said ok and thank you and started walking away. From her demeanor she was very upset and I could not figure out why but I knew I should get the hell out of there as fast as possible. As I was walking away she yelled at me and said "RUDE!!!!!" After that I walked a lot faster and got out of there thinking for no reason other than she is crazy for saying that to a customer. I called the manager the next day and he apologized very nicely but now I am so frightened I will never go back to this store again. read more

I am not a fan of Petco, but this location is worse than the others. I've been here twice over the past 6 months specifically to buy live rats for my snakes and both times they've been completely out. The containers of super worms are stinky and dead. And the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I bought a piece of cork bark that was labeled $18.99 on the shelf but rang up as $49.99. I didn't notice the obscene price until I'd swiped my card. The return process was clumsy and in the meantime a huge line piled up behind me. I will be avoiding this location in the future. read more

In the 2 weeks since getting my puppy, I've visited Petco at least 7-8 times. We've been there so often, the employees know our puppy's name more than ours and that what makes this Petco so great. The employees. They're super helpful when you got questions and on top of that, really respectful when you're training your pet. Ours likes to jump on strangers and they know not to give her attention when she's acting up. Can't comment on the grooming service or doggy bath area, since we haven't had the need for it yet, but I'm sure we will soon. Sure, we can find some things cheaper on Amazon or something, but we'll definitely be back. read more

I was on the search for cat food today and the manager Craig here helped me out big time. I usually need a big bag of ideal balance grain free Salam for my two cats but they didn't have a large bag. Craig gave me a great deal and got me two smaller bags with a bit of a discount. Every dollar counts and he didn't hesitate to help as soon as I walked down the isle. read more

We recently used Petco to groom our Maltese. They did a fantastic job. We have used other groomers before and none of them compared to the quality. They actually listened to what we wanted. The best part was it cost a lot less than the specialty groomers! The sales people inside the store can be a little pushy, but generally they are helpful. read more

This was my pup's first haircut and Elaine did an excellent job! She asked me exactly what I wanted for my pup to look like and matched the pictures I showed her perfectly! Today I called to check availability for dog grooming and had an unexpected experience. I gave my info for my account was asked to hold (but wasnt actually put on hold) and I heard the conversation about a note on my dog's file that he is difficult and that she didn't have to take a "bad dog" and how they have to still offer an appointment for later. After a bit more of this she came back on and offered me an appointment for the next day. I have a Shih Tzu. They are difficult to groom and he certainly doesn't love his paws being messed with, but the conversation was unprofessional and simply rude. Haven't been to a Petco for this service in years and won't be going back anytime soon. read more

The only reason why I was coming to this Petco because they carry the cat food my cat was eating. Now my cat no longer eats that food so I try not to come here. This particular location always smells like horrible dog pee and dirty wet dog everywhere you go it's so strong. They never have the shelves stocked. I went in there today cuz it was on my way to my doctor's office to get a couple of cans of cat food. The smell was so intense when I first walked in. The employees that work there look frazzled and irritated that they even work there. The manager that is always on duty when I go in there is a woman who always has her hair pulled back in a clip she is awful. I hear her yelling at her employees treating them with such little respect and belittling everyone around her including the customers. Any time I've asked her a question she's sighs pretty much rolls her eyes and rudely answers my question. The way she spoke to an employee in front of me today was just disgusting how did this woman even get a store of her own. I will not be coming back I feel sorry for the employees that work for her. read more

Have been going to this location for years. Went in to give my pup a bath after he had destroyed his crate and met Alexis who works there as a sales associate. She went above and beyond to help us find a solution to the problems we have been having with kennel training our dog and even wrote us down a list and took her time to talk to us and tell us what we should do. An update to say I looked at other reviews and found a private groomer to see my dogs the same afternoon. They said they were familiar with AussieChows and had a cancellation when I could bring them in. Two hours after I dropped them off they were clean, shiny, nails clipped and brushed out beautifully. When I arrived to pick them up they were sleeping behind the front desk (no cage) and obviously very comfortable. They had a special mat for older dogs to lay on. The cost was less than Petco and as positive an experience as Petco was negative. read more

They didn't have a Halloween costume and the main employee on the floor called every Petco in Austin to see if they had the costume I needed in Belle's size. I love the self serve doggie bath !! We have a German shepherd and she is a handful at bath times. This place provides the towels the shampoo and rinse and a tall 'shower stall' that she can get into easily because they have a convenient step stool! Plus the folks there are really helpful and nice. Thanks petco for providing this self service set up. Ps thanks also for the 'cleaning up after the bath' part. As usual, the groomers and staff are great. They seem to like the dogs and take care to give them all the attention they need. My dog is older and they are careful about that. Colleen at Petco in the Arboretum did an awesome job with our two little dogs. She took her time and listened to what I wanted, asked me some questions, and let the dogs get used to her for a minute before she took them back. The trims she gave them - a long shave for our shih tzu, and face and hygiene trim for our terrier/chihuahua/maltese mix - are just what I wanted, and the puppies look great. I had the worst customer service experience of my life here. The cashier was atrociously rude and confrontational and continued sassing me when I asked to talk to her manager (which I have never done before in my entire life-- I am pretty tolerant of poor customer service, but not open hostility and rudeness for no reason) who did absolutely nothing to apologize or rectify the situation. I complained to corporate and got a pretty generic response. I used to buy my dog's food here, a brand made by Petco, and even got my dog at an adoption event here, but this experience was so bad that I will not be returning. It's going to be worth the extra money on food to have decent customer service at somewhere like Bark 'n Purr. I guess it just reiterated to me that I need to go local for my pet needs, too. read more

I'm not one to give bad reviews but I could not believe how rude the two ladies who opened up this morning. I called the night before and they told me the groomers open at 8am and that I'm more than welcome to come in and all I have to do is bring my dogs rabies paper. I just needed a haircut for my dog and I arrived a few minutes early waiting at the door. A young girl (I regrettably didn't get her name) with tattoos who was a groomer was walking in and no "hello" or anything and just looked at me and said, "do you have an appointment?" with major attitude. I said "no I called last night and they told me I could walk in" she replied with "sorry were appointments only so you might have to wait". I walked in to get checked in and the young girl was rude to the another lady just because she was early for her appointment!! I walked out. There was no customer service in that place and I did not want to put my dog in her hands with that horrible attitude. If you're too cranky to get up in the morning or help others, do everyone a favor and get a new job. I will not return. read more
