I went here looking for a foldable carrier. I found a medium sized one that fit the bill. The box was opened, the bottom had been taped like it had been opened from that side, the carrying case for the carrier has been taken out and there were signs of use on it. I asked the Manager, Linda if a discount could be given due to the facts mentioned above. She immediately and rudely stated "we dont give discounts for any reason". All aquariums are dirty and unkept, including dead fish in some of the tanks. Went in looking for Bettas, but several fish were either dead, or almost dead. Lots of shelves empty, including the smaller tanks, and many of the supplies were out of stock. Lots of very young employees milling about, and none were really concerned about why I might be in that department. All the pets needed a good cage cleaning, along with the floor, which was wet in certain areas, with no signage or "wet floor warnings". I will not go back. The store on Colorado and Mexico is very well stocked, is much cleaner, and the employees were more helpful, except the older gentleman who was the only cashier available. He wasn't quite rude, but close. I'll go back because fish and other animals were clean and cared for. I won't go back to the Havana location. read more

This store has poor customer relationship. I contacted the Petco on Ironton in Aurora to inquire about the pricing and duration for a bath for my Australian Shepherd. I was informed that the cost would be $43 due to her long hair, and the process would take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. However, when I dropped her off, the same employee mentioned it would only take 1.5 to 2 hours. She assured me that she would call or text when my pet was ready for pickup, but she did not mention any late fees or time limits for picking her up. We planned to be away for 2 hours, but an hour later, I received a call stating that my dog would be ready in 15 minutes and that I needed to pick her up within the hour to avoid late fees. A half hour later. I called to inform them that we would be a few minutes late. Surprise! Upon pickup, I was charged $47 for the bath (without any explanation for the $4 overcharge), an $18 late fee, and a $5.99 fee for materials, which turned out to be for a toothbrush. Who charges for that? She said that was typical to charge for materials needed for a service. They should disclose all additional costs and penalties at the time of drop-off. They will give you information, but only if you ask. Perhaps they could work on consistent and accurate information. I will not be returning! read more

I took my dog in on May 26 be groomed and the person that was a very polite person and I asked her she be the person doing a grooming and she said yes I came get my dog three hours later my dog was a mess. I asked the young lady that brought my dog out. I askeddid they do the ears clean the ears out Clean the pads on the feet. Clean the glands and she said yes not only that they shave my dog down even though I said I wanted to have a puppy cut and my dog is a Wheaton terrier poodle mix. I was very disappointed so I called today which is 29 May and the manager of the grooming area spoke to me poorly she was trying to make me argue with her and I wasn't going to argue.and I finally just said I was so disappointed in the whole situation. she just lied. On 12-16-2024 while shopping at Petco S. Ironton St Aurora 80012, I was curtly and summarily dismissed, by an employee when I asked about using a bathroom. He shrugged me off and said," we do not have public bathrooms!" and kept walking. The store may have their reasons why a customer can't use a bathroom, however, I'm sure that this store lost, and will lose many more shoppers. I want to start off my review by stating that I am not a Karen. It takes a lot of disrespect for me to be bothered to write a review. I took my pup on a hike this morning and she decided to bath herself in a creek. I usually take my dog to the vet for grooming or bathe her myself. I decided to just give this location a try since it seemed like quite the package deal. I made an appointment for a bath service for my 6 month puppy who yes is a Malinois. I usually take my pup to get groomed at the vet where they take good care of her (I also went to PetSmart two weeks ago for a nail trim and they delivered results). My complaint is not with the person who was going to do my dog's service, but the person that was working alongside her, called Oreo. The person who was in charge of the service seemed rather new since she was nervous to receive my dog. my dog is very timid but not at all aggressive, as she is socialized every single day with friends, Homedepot (they love her there), Nordstrom (the old ladies love her there), community dog park, etc. I am stating all of this because I think I do a good job as a dog mom, and I invest a lot of time into her to make sure she's being raised properly and trained. I don't abuse or neglect or deprive my puppy of its needs especially as a Malinois. Anyways, I was told that this service would take an hour and a half to two hours. I decided to roam around the store for about an hour, texting my mom, looking at the fish, and finally making a purchase. I figured I would wait for my pup. As I was making the purchase, the girl who was in charge of my service (I did not remember her name, I'm sorry if you're reading this) came and got me and told me that we needed to talk. She essentially said that my dog was very nervous and didn't even want to leave the crate they put her in. Oreo decided to input and was extremely rude. She said something along the lines of how I have a Malinois and that she has Malinois (probably less than 2 months old--which was at the store in one of the crates) and that I need a trainer, that she's too nervous and will eventually end up biting someone and being put down. Yes, Oreo said this. So the reason I am writing this review is 1) you guys didn't even try to give her service which is fine if you fear for your life you SHOULD have called me immediately, you had my number and called me right as I left my pup to make sure you had a good number. I did not have to waste 50 minutes at a store. 2) You don't speak down on customers saying that your dog is going to be put down. 3) I already have a trainer and you could have said things nicely if you wanted to get a point across -- this is why I am not upset with the girl that received me, she honestly did try to somewhat deliver okay customer service ... 4) my dog peed itself in the crate from nervousness when she peed right before going in the store -- I was told I could buy pet wipes, you really could have just at least given me a moist rag ?? But anyways moral of this story, if you have a notorious breed and even if it's the sweetest thing ever don't settle for cheap and lack of experience. I pay triple at the vet for these services and I learned my lesson to stick with them. They have never disrespected me and they have breed experience as well as puppy experience. Tonight I uncomfortably witnessed the manager first argue with a customer; then I listened as the manager and two of his employees loudly complained about said customer and talked boastfully about the manager's right to tell her off: imagine my surprise when the offended customer re-appeared to confront them. Been to this store twice recently--the first time was to buy a cat tree for our (at the time) 8 mos old kitten. The staff was wonderful and helpful: the box for the tree was large and heavy and a team member offered a dolly cart to load it onto. They also allowed us to leave it at the register while we finished our shopping and picked out new ID tags for our dog and cat. The second time was recently: we took our now 1 year old cat, Junebug, to them for a grooming session a couple days ago. Jennifer was her groomer that day and she was PHENOMENAL. Junebug was agitated in the car heading to the grooming appointment, but was so content when we picked her up. In the couple short interactions we had with Jennifer that day she was pleasant and helpful, and I felt entirely comfortable leaving my cat with her for multiple hours. do not take your pet to Emily the groomer at the Aurora s. Ironton Petco store. I made an appointment and came to groom my dog and this particular groomer is just a swindler who overcharged me for a bath and a shave of my dog. I have usually been paying $65-75$ dollars and with inflation the prices went up to 100$ to groom my dog, which is fine and understandable. Emily the groomer charged me 134.99$ for my usual groom. She then preceded to try to get more money out of me by saying oh it's been a while since your groom and if you want to file the dogs nails it's an extra charge we cut the nails but dobt file them unless you pay extra. On top of that she charged my dog the price for a large golden doodle when my dog is a standard size pure breed poodle. I kept telling her that and she kept arguing and telling me that in the system he is a golden doodle and I'm not going to change that and that's how I'm going to charge. She then began to tell me that anyone else would charge me $150 to groom my dog. I have previously groomed, my dog at chewy's boutique boutique and I was charged $90 for a full groom and nail trim and file and a bath as well as cleaning the ears and everything that's included in a full grown and I was not charged $150 but only $90. The haircut that I got for my dog was a full shave as I always do because his hair grows really quickly so I try to keep it really really short so that he's more comfortable and for that I was charged $134.99. it is absolutely ridiculous that Petco does not have a grooming manager that can put proper standards for their groomers not to overcharge clients and not to try to swindle clients that have been going to that Petco for a while. We are a pet owning family, as well as our friends and family who own pets, and I can assure you not myself nor any of my friends and family members will ever be going to Petco to buy our supplies of food, or to even groom our pets after this experience, because if they cannot have a groomer who can fairly charge their clients, and then sit there and argue about the fact that when I have a standard size poodle dog that I've had since he was a puppy and telling me that I the owner have the wrong dog and that my dog is really a goldendoodle when he is not is absolutely ridiculous. I went to a sales associate at the cash register to ask if there is a manager that I can speak to, and the sales associate told me that I am not the only person that has complaints about this particular groomer by the name of Emily. I took my business elsewhere that doesn't block customers from a very basic need. Not having a public restroom is a form of discrimination against people with medical issues and the elderly. PROs: ++ Like other Petco locations they have a variety of items for every species of pet! ++ Love my Pals rewards card! Gets great deals on items for your furry friend and for every $100 you spend you get $5 back. Might not seem like much, but it def adds up! ++ Sooo many options for cats and dogs! CONs: -- Often seems like there's a line at the registers to check out. Perhaps they need to revisit their scheduling. -- Some of their selection for less common pets (like ferrets) is very limited. I understand but I'd love to see more than just Marshall products represented. -- Staff at this one in particular seem a little indifferent and scripted. Took my dog to get a grooming service done and was more than disgusted that the workers were insinuating that I abuse my dog at home. Left more than offended that they would even have the nerve to accuse me of such a thing. Even after explaining that a previous trainer was abusive to my dog (obviously no longer with that trainer), seems like she didn't believe me and continued to insult me. Some dogs just HATE water. Just got my dog groomed by Jackie for a 4:15pm appointment on May 18th and was extremely disappointed. I wanted her nails groomed because they were so sharp and as soon as she was finished the first thing she says is that she did really good and to BE CAREFUL BECAUSE HER NAILS ARE VERY SHARP NOW. So I very politely explain to her that this was the whole reason I brought her to get groomed and if she could buff them or do SOMETHING. This is after I had already paid and tipped her over 50% in cash. So she takes her back again to "buff them" and comes out in less than 3 minutes saying I need to play with her hands and feet more (which we do all the time) and I ask if any of her nails were buffed and she just says no. My dog is young but she doesn't bark, bite, nip, or jump at strangers. We always joke that she's unusually well behaved for a puppy. I was told the day before when scheduling the appointment that the groomers leave at 4:30 and it feels to me like she simply didn't care and was just ready to leave. The whole visit felt pointless and I'll be finding a groomer that actually cares. Also felt overcharged when previously tried to book and got a price quote for nail trim was told it was between $8-$12 and was charged $13 not including tip for a terrible job and terrible customer service. read more

I always have a great experience shopping at this location. It is convenient to get to with ample parking in the Gardens On Havana Shopping center. The manager Mike and his team are always super friendly and helpful. Plus I enjoy shopping and seeing all the little furry friends around and about in the store. This location was also selected as one of the few locations in Colorado that got a new remodel just recently completed in late December 2019. If you have not shopped in this store in awhile I encourage you to come back in to see the remodel. This store has been around for a long time and recently got a facelift. It feels like a brand new store. The remodel is really modern,clean, and visually appealing. All the sections in the store are very well marked and signed. The color changes and lighting freshen up the feel of the store. Also this location has a Thrive affordable pet care clinic. I was told it similar to Petsmart's Banfield. As you enter the store to the right there now is a veterinary care clinic and the left is the grooming counter. I also enjoy going to this location because I grew up with nine turtles and they have an amazing amphibian section with bearded dragons and turtles. There is also a great selection of fishes for a little aquariums. Every Saturday and Sunday this location to host a puppy playtime at 1 PM. If I could leave a negative star rating, I absolutely would. I came into Petco tonight as I have one many other occasions after spending thousands of dollars on pet supplies for our dog and other pets that we have in the house. My daughter who has pet goldfish recently lost one, and I went to get a replacement. Normally the staff are very nice and are able to pick out a replacement goldfish for me fairly quickly. Tonight the store manager found it too much of an inconvenience to take two seconds to scoop out an orange and white goldfish. The store was literally empty and there was nothing else happening inside. For her to be so lazy and apathetic is unacceptable to me, especially after years of being a loyal customer. We will no longer be bringing our pets there for the vet nor for grooming based on how I was treated tonight. read more

New dog mom here and decided to enroll my pup in the positive adult dog training 1 and 2 courses here and enjoyed it thoroughly. My friend referred me to the courses; and since this was the closest location to home it fit perfectly. Ashley the trainer is kind and funny; and knows her pups! Mia, my pup, graduated top of her class in dog training 1 which really trained me on how to train her; and established me as alpha in our new relationship as mother and dog daughter. :) Positive training class 2 was equally successful and really focused on training your dog in high distraction situations. We also love seeing Andrea the groomer, too. Appts. are relatively easy to schedule - you can typically get in next day or second day - and they are very competitively priced. Also your first appt. with a Petco groomer is 25% off! Mia always leaves clean, healthy and happy with a little treat bag to boot. read more

I took my silky terrier in to be groomed. We were getting a puppy cut for summer. I told her I wanted her hair long enough to protect from the sun and not too much off the face. They did an awesome job! Usually I take her to independent family owned shops but I didn't want to wait two weeks to get her in. We will be back for future cuts. I was impressed with the way the animals were taken care of in this shop as well. They didn't have a huge selection but they ones they had seemed happy and healthy with fresh food. The store and sales staff is awesome! They get 5stars in my books. BUT... The grooming services are very questionable. The groomer Rosa is just bad... my dogs fur was just chopped. Ears uneven. Belly wasn't cut at all. My dog was there for 5 hours!!! FIVE!!! They had groomer Andrea, she was very good! I had her only once. Too bad she quit. Another annoying thing is, they charged me $45 at the store for the cut when the price was $40 when I booked via the Petco app. My bf picked up the dog and paid. I learned about how much was the charge later and got very disappointed. Services cost soooo much in America but no one seem to do an actual and consistent good job! AVOID JEANNETTE AT ALL COSTS. I took my doggo there to be groomed. The young ladies at the front were great and I'd never seen or had an issue for the last 6 years I've been going there. While I was signing in for my appointment, I saw a groomer by the name of Jeannette grooming a German Shepherd. She was kind of forceful with him. So, I assumed he wasn't the type who liked being groomed. Then, he as he backed away from her, he slipped off the table while still in the neck strap. He was hanging by his neck. Other groomers were startled and she casually walked around the table to lift him back up. She looked around to see if anyone saw her and continued. Suffice it to say that I ensured that she was not going to be grooming my dog. When I went to pick up my pup, the young lady at the front greeted me and was pleasant. I paid for my grooming services at the register and returned to pick up my dog. The young lady had my dog on her leash, attached to her collar and was stopped by Jeanette's table. I saw Jeannette bend down and struggle to put on the harness I had dropped my dog off, in. She walked her to the door and the harness had unlatched. I called her name to let her know that she could just use the collar, but she didn't respond. I assumed they couldn't hear through the glass. So, I lightly tapped it. Jeanette cracked the door and rudely said, "Do not tap on the door. If I need something from you, then I'll call you. Otherwise, I got it." I was taken aback because I've had nothing but good service to this point and I didn't appreciate her tone. I apologized and told her that I didn't know if she could me calling her name. I also suggested that they put a sign on the glass to prevent that from happening. She snapped back at me, "Well you can tell Petco to do that. I'm going back to the dog I was grooming but I'll let you speak to my manager." I spoke to the manager who apologized and I told her that she need not take responsibility for utter people's actions. I asked her to put a note on my account to not ever have Jeannette groom my dogs in the future. The manager pretended to enter the info into the computer, but I could see in the window reflection that she didn't even change a screen. I left realizing that I wasn't going to receive any kind of appropriate service from her. I just looked through the reviews and other people have had similar issues over the years. I wonder if they have a hard time keeping groomers when they have to work with employees like that. It can take a toll on morale. read more

Summary: fish from this store have given my tank ich twice. I have gotten my fish from several different stores: this petco, petsmart a few miles north, a different petco farther south, and even an independent store farther east on Hampden. However, it is only fish from this store which bring ich disease to my fish tank. I have a 20 gallon fish tank. It is beautiful, wonderfully set up, and filled with beautiful fish. I decide to add 3 platys to it and go to this specific pet co. I come home, add them to the tank using the proper method and the next day: 2 of my fish are dead already with the rest showing signs of ich. Then today, I decide I need to add to my tiger barb collection to help them to school more easily, get one tiny little fish, put it in my tank and BAMB that evening a tiger barb is dead and 2 other fish show signs of ich. I am incredibly frustrated and will never be going there for fish again. read more

Kelli the dog trainer is absolutely fantastic and I haven't even taken a training class yet. My lab mix pup can be kinda crazy when it comes to leaving the house and she immediately sensed his tension and overall nervousness. She warmly greeted us and helped me find some toys that would satisfy his working mind. She also gave me some free advice on his pulling which I really appreciated. She and my dog bonded really quickly which I loved. Once the virus settles down I will definitely be enrolling in her training classes! Thank you, Kelli! read more

DO NOT take your pet to this business. When I called with a simple question, they put me on hold twice. The first time, I waited for 20 minutes. Then she put me on hold again. I never got an answer. I took my cat in for a follow up appointment. I am over 60, but definitely no idiot and not hard of hearing. The vet literally shouted her comments to me and talked to me like I was a child. She did an exam and took a sample of the cyst on her face. I paid $242.47 for the exam and the lab they sent it to. I got a cryptic review that did not tell me if it was benign or cancerous. I was told that they would send it out when it was surgically removed to answer that question, and that the cost of the procedures would be sent to me by email, which they weren't, even after I called to remind them to send them. I will go to another recommended vet. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Ageist and incompetent. Steer clear. read more

Yikes, where do I start. This is the closest petco to me so I brought my puppy here for a haircut. The first time they did a puppy cut just to get him familiar with the groomers. Second time gets normal haircut service. Third time they have him there for a few hours then call me to pick him up. When i get there they tell me they weren't able to cut his hair at all because he wouldn't stay still. I get charged almost the same as if he would've had a fuller service cut. I wish they would've just called right when that started & i wouldn't have had to pay $30+ just for a shower. After that we found him a great groomer over on Hampden. I continued to go to this store to buy his food but today will definitely be my last time. Customer service is terrible. No one is ever ready to happily help & if they're having a bad they take it out on the customer. I rather drive out further to a petco conveniently located across from my pups groomer to buy his food/toys. He is professional, skillful, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, patient, understanding, honest, concerned, and thorough. His motto is safety first. You can trust him. He acts like a regular guy and that you are his equal and important. When he comes into the room it is like a ray of sunshine has come in and taken all your fears away.
