Paradise was very nice, and my Pomeranian was very clean and soft, but the haircut is pretty choppy all over. i can cut her hair myself but thought I'd pay to have it done professionally, and it looks about how it does when I cut it. My groomer moved out of town and so I had to find a new groomer. I'm a bit nervous about handing my dogs off. This isn't close to home for me, but well worth the drive! Upon arrival, Jennifer got on the floor with my two little dogs and made them and me feel at ease, and comfortable leaving them with her and her team. I have a very extensive review to give; however, rather than explain my situation and why I am frustrated, my review will be more simple and I will use the owners own words to show their true colors. Before I wrote this review I made sure to see if others had a similar experience in their reviews and the responses I saw from the Praise the Paw owners was astounding. If you are wondering whether you would like to try Praise the Paw, read the low rated reviews and then look at the replies the owner gives back. Praise the Paw really struggles with hearing and receiving feedback. Our relationship started to go sour once I started pointing out areas where they miscut my animal or miscut my animal and didn't tell me they did so (basically, a fissure in trust on my end - if you're not telling me how you messed up my dogs expensive hair cut, what else aren't you telling me?). Here are some of the comments from the owner when their customers give them feedback. Note - these are all taken from the Yelp website and are public; meaning, the owners are completely fine with their replies to customers being public. I have done my best to copy and paste them without changing any of the language. Here are the owners replies to real customers. "I am sorry you feel like you didn't get good customer service. You were 30 minutes late and tried to make me feel bad about it" - Literally, just don't reply. Why would you say something back to this upset customer? "I've been waiting for this review! I'm so glad your wrote it! First off.... WE ALWAYS TAKE THE ETHICAL APPROACH! I realize this may be hard for you to understand being that you see your dog everyday" - The owners are looking for confrontation. They aren't looking to make situations right in the customers eyes; rather, they want to be combative and feel "right". "Thank you so much for your review! You are one of the rudest people I have ever had in my business!" - Even if you believe that, why would a business owner ever say that on a public review website? Needless to say, I'm expecting this review to get a reply from the owner. Just to note, all I did was show how the business responds when there is disagreement between them and a customer. Note - Yelp is a really messy place where people can fume and say things they don't mean. This is why I wanted my review to be a mirror of evidence of what Praise the Paw has done in their own words. They can disagree with any feedback I give because it's my word versus theirs. Although, you cannot disagree with their tone and disrespect towards customers in their replies on yelp. read more

I would have simply appreciated an apology instead of being defensive and accusing me of defamation, being uneducated, and a poor dog owner. Accidents happen and I am simply stating what happened to Leo after I tried grooming at your location. It is clear we have different perspectives of the situation, but I am not going to edit my responses to add in portions such as being "uneducated" or "lying." Here is my being direct and honest: 1. I simply felt deceived about who was going to groom my dog. 2. I had to pay for my dog's antibiotics, cone, and vet care after the incident. 3. I never called anyone rude over the phone or in the review. I never would bad-mouth anyone. 4. I cut my dogs hair every month and am educated in understanding that he cannot have "matted" hair that on his private area. I brought him to you in good health. 5. I called you before the follow up appointment and asked to work with you instead of Stephanie. You started asking me why, and I tried to avoid causing trouble for her. I just wanted to work with someone else. Then you started asking for proof of what happened, which is an implication of me lying to you and you trying to justify the "sensitive skin" argument. 6. I cannot say enough about Praise the Paw and its owner, Jennifer. I took my sweet girl to her for over 8years for grooming. As my sweet girl aged- Jennifer spent the extra time needed to make the cut look amazing and make my sweet senior girl comfortable after having a broken pelvis from a car accident. She treats each pup like her own and loves them while in her care. I love that she doesn't use kennels and work with expected drop-off and pick-up times so that others have great experiences for their pups as well. I am new to Denver and very recently adopted my beautiful boy, Albert. He was in desperate need of having his anal glands expressed(TMI?) and I wanted him to have a proper grooming. Jennifer is by far the most wonderful dog groomer/dog lover I have ever met! When I first read her reviews and tried to make an appointment I was a bit put off by having to wait 4-6 weeks to get our pups into see her. So much so that we found another groomer. After a couple of decent but not amazing experiences elsewhere I decided to give Jennifer a call. So we spoke and I waited about a month before I could meet her in person to get our two Yorkie mixes into her shop for a groom. From the first moment walking into her shop, you feel the love and warmth each person in the shared grooming space has for their craft and the animals they serve. Jennifer is a total sweetheart who absolutely loves each and every dog that walks in the door to see her. It is amazing to see how genuinely she adores each four-legged creature who she meets. We have been in to see her for 4 cuts and baths and each time we just love her a little more. Jennifer is just amazing with how she handles our boys. She showers them with so much love and sweetness the entire time they are with her. Jennifer makes our boys look so adorable and their cuts are just perfect. She is detail oriented and takes her time making them look great. She seems to really care how they look, and takes our feedback and guidance with grace as she helps style out our little pups. Praise the Paw is truly the most perfect name for a grooming shop that handles their animals with such great love and adoration. The dogs are never crated. And neither is the friendly cat or adorable pig who happen to belong to the shop. The animals are kept safe behind the locked doors of the workstations and they employ a double door system when entering the shop to keep all the animals safely inside. When we drop our boys off we leave with the total confidence that they are being loved, cared for, are kept safe, and we will return to them looking adorable and sparkling clean. Jennifer rocks. My dog was stinky and when that happens he looks like Nick Nolte's infamous mug shot and we just can't have that. So I went to my trusted friend Yelp to see what business were in the area and found Praise the Paw and couldn't have been happier with my experience! Located right near Cherry Creek and in a business building that you would think would only have doctors offices and such is where PTP (I just created an acronym for them, awesome) is located. She is by appointment only and we went on Saturday morning so Operation Clean the Pooch could begin. I loved that she sat down with us for a few minutes before I left to get a feel for what kind of cut I was looking for . My little Lincoln is quite skiddish and she held him in her lap and got to know him and gave him a belly rub to earn his trust and what do you know, soon they were besties. Two hour later, she was done and the homeless look was gone--my dog looked quite dapper like a gentleman! When Jennifer gets a complaint, instead of dealing with the issue, she defends why she acted and said the things she did. After the initial complaint on yelp, she then acted flippantly and said "OK, Pamela, whatever." She then had a barage of her friends contact me through Charlie's instagram with hate messages. I spoke with a friend who has never taken their dog to the groomer with matts. They wanted their dog to retain the length of hair that they had and the groomer insisted on shaving their dog. Shaving seems to be the fast track to done. People should be able to specify how they want their dog groomed. Charlie had a few knots on her body mostly on either side of her hips, her ears and tail were matted. I made a comment on how I like Charlie's face i.e. not to shave between her eyes and the comment that Jennifer made was "that's how we groom labradoodles." I'm glad I walked out because I read a review where her shop injured a dog and the dog owner had vet bills to prove it. Every busines has problems but what separates the great businesses from mediocre businesses is how they deal with problems. I also read a review that a dog owner got their dog in same day. I was not given that option AND my apt was shoved back. If I go to the doctor, I am allowed to get a second opinion or use homeopathic remedies if I choose. Groomers are not doctors. I have never been treated more rude. Charlie had a few knots I missed, her ears and tail were matted. I was brushing her every 2-3 weeks, not because I was being neglectful, I just did not know. I went home and used detangler and discovered how easy the knots and mats came out. Cowboy magic on Amazon was recommended by a website that breeds cobberdogs. This groomer would be wise to consider Austrailian Cobberdogs are NOT labradoodles and do NOT get groomed like a labradoodle. Their hair is different. If you have a senior dog DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE! Upon making my appointment I explained to the owner that my dog was 14 years old, has hip issues, and is partially blind...never at any point did the owner explain to me that they could not service my dog or "do what they were comfortable with". When we arrived for our appointment with Paradise, she began to tell me that she would only do what she was comfortable with. What did that mean I wondered... Did she think my dog was going to attack her? Was she not experienced handling senior dogs? Why wasn't I told this beforehand? Cut to-30min later I get a frantic voicemail from a front desk person who repeatedly says "She's having a hard time". Not, "Hey, we were only able to do this, that, and the other and your dog is ready to be picked up", just pure panic, no explanation. I called back and Paradise is on the phone and clearly overwhelmed. She says "I don't know what's wrong with her head. It keeps falling down"- I'm sorry, huh??? "I took her outside to catch her breath"- ummm....ok????-"She's having a hard time" "She had to sit in the tub" -Again, no real explanation for the panic, which left me confused and concerned for my dog. When I arrived, Paradise was no where to be found and my sweet sweet dog is laying in the corner of their floor shop wet, calm, and cool as a cucumber...as an old pup can be. Soooo in that moment, I knew Paradise didn't have the experience to take care of my dog and chose to revert to chaos when my 14year pup needed to sit down in the tub while she was bathing her. When Paradise finally arrived, she began to tell me everything that she thought was wrong with my dog, because apparently the owner used to be a Vet and they think they know best. But, instead of telling me what she was able to complete, I explained to her that I know my dog well, I'm aware of her health issues, and I asked her to tell me what she accomplished. She said a wash, partial dry, and a nail trim, then proceeded to ask me for $55. When I gave her the look of "you've got to be kidding me" she turned to the owner and yells out "She doesn't want to pay for it" Which I interjected and said "Nooooo, I just don't think I should be charged full price since you did not complete the service and my dog is completely wet and you guys called me in a complete panic. Then they became defensive, not understanding. So, to get myself and my dog the hell out of their crazy establishment, I paid. And as I paid I let them know just how I felt, because at the end of the day just because my dog is old and not as spry as the rest of them doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be well taken care of during a grooming appointment. Just because she has difficulty standing for a period of time and can't move around like they may have wanted her to, does not mean she's dying! And just because your owner may have been a Vet at one point, does not give you the right to make medical claims on my pet. No senior dog owner, should be left feeling like their dog is a burden or a risk at a grooming facility. My 14year old dog has health issues, has an amazing vet, takes meds, and gets checked frequently. We do everything that we can to give her the most amazing and comfortable life, but taking her to Praise the Paw was unnecessary stress that my dog did not deserve to go through. Bottom line: This is not a place to take your senior dog who needs the patience and calm thorough care of an EXPERIENCED groomer. read more
