We've been coming to dog savvy for at least 5 years now, maybe even longer. We moved from living downtown to 30 min away a few years ago and still make the drive there and back twice in a day to make sure our pup gets the best care. Our dog is a tough dog to groom, his fur is so thick it takes us a full day to do it when we've done it at home. And on top of his thick fur he's a thicc boy so there's just a lot to groom. I was worried when his groomer moved away but then I found out she trained her replacement specifically on how to take care of our dog and that kind of caring and attention to detail is something you won't get anywhere else. And his grooming has continued to be perfect every time. I don't even know where to begin!! My journey started on Instagram, on my quest to find a new groomer since the last place totally botched my girl. I spent hours trying to find pictures and was willing to drive anywhere within 45 mins. Thankfully I stumbled across Allies page. She had great pictures, before and afters and there were all sorts of pups to showcase her skills. I was impressed, but after my previous experience, I was a bit skeptical. We first connected on Instagram and spent a few days chatting; trying to make sure Allie knew what I wanted cuz after our bad experience, I wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. Allie was patient with me, never promised me anything. She just educated me about the different cuts and gave me suggestions that would compliment my little girl. When we arrived, the staff at Dog Savvy were super sweet. Everyone was helpful and welcomed us. Allie took her time to meet my girl, Millie and really listened to my every concern. Dog savvy has so much swag for the pups, from collars, leashes, tags, bowls and fresh baked goods! When I picked Millie up, even tho grooming sometimes stresses her out, she came back super happy and soooooo beautiful. I was worried because her hair was still very short from previous, but Allie blended what she could and it was so perfect. Went to Dog Savvy on 12/3/22. I was nervous because my little girl has only been professionally groomed once, which was a very bad experience for her as a puppy. When I walked in they greeted us and introduced us to Sam, after letting Sam know my dog's grooming history, she made sure my dog was comfortable with her and picked her up to bring her to the grooming area. I received a text 20 minutes before her grooming was complete. When we went to pick up my dog, she was happy wagging her little tail and very comfortable around Sam. Sam said my dog was very good and did a great job! Sam was able to get all the services done that I requested and she did an AMAZING job! Sam is also very sweet and I felt very confident my dog was in good hands! We will be back and I highly recommend this business and Sam. read more

I have taken my golden here a few times. The last time we took him, I asked for his coat (mostly his butt and tail) to have little trims because it was getting a little long and stringy. They cut him way too short which made chocked up to being a miscommunication. I was frustrated, but I could see how they could have been confused. We took him in again today and specifically asked they do not cut him at all outside of his feet. When I got him back, his long butt fluff - or what we call pants - were completely cut off. Gone. His chest was also cut all the way down. I feel like a crazy person crying about my dogs hair, but I love it and SPECIFICALLY asked for them to not to cut him. I asked to cancel future appointments to which he replied "I'm sorry you can't understand a miscommunication". I didn't realize that "don't cut my dog" wasn't clear enough?? So rude. My husband called after and only then did they offer any sincere apology and a partial refund - not the woman standing in front of them raising legitimate concerns. I do not recommend coming here at all, it's a lot of money for something that will take years to grow back. read more

We have an Aussie puppy who is very uncomfortable with the grooming process. The previous groomer at a different store took things very quickly and stressed out our pup and said he did not do well with the grooming process. We came to dog savvy because of all the great reviews and we could not be more impressed. We informed the groomer that our pup was easily stressed out by the grooming process and asked her to take things slowly and not use clippers or the dryer for this visit since we are just trying to get comfortable with the process. She let us know that they would never use clippers on a double coated dog and that she would go very slowly. 2 hours later we picked up a clean and happy puppy and she let us know that he did very well. Been bringing the surrogate doggy here for nail trims for a few months. This spot is friendly, has tons of cute apparel (sweaters, bows, collars, leashes) and snacks/treats for the puppers. Even though he hates getting his nails trimmed (we do the dremmel), they get it done quickly and done well. Pretty reasonable prices for being in such a prime location! After the first horrible grooming experience we had at a place on Tennyson... I made sure to check Yelp and reallyyy look for a GOOD dog groomer here in Denver (jut recently moved here). AND WE STRUCK GOLD!!!! They didn't charge as much as the groomer on Tennyson ANDDDDD they did a THOUSAND TIMES BETTER!!!! Teddy (my Yorkie chihuahua) was happyyy(not traumatized) & looks fly as can be. We had a wonderful grooming and shopping experience at Dog Savvy. We were impressed by our bull terriers gleaming white silky coat & her nail dremmel was the best we have had yet. Normally her paws & nails are so scratchy but the groomer was able to smooth them out. The way they brushed her coat dramatically reduced her shedding. The groomer was incredibly attentive. We also bought the best harness & leash in the "ruff wear" brand & the staff fitted her for both. She is now walking so much more comfortably in the right fitting harness for her. I am sitting here waiting from Robb to come from his home to release my dogs from the little jails they are holding them in downstairs. While the "Salon Manager" and I agreed to have the dogs groomed by Dog Savvy (for the second time in 30 days mind you) in order to rectify the poor job that was performed the first time around, it seems the agreed $100 for the job is not enough. It seems the owner wants us to continue waiting here while security tries to "bully" us out of the store. The security is asking questions along the lines of "Why would you return to where they did a bad job" we are simply replying "We came back to give them a second chance and at an agreed discount. It seems that he gets it, yet he is a little pre preoccupied talking to the 3 friends of the girl whom works there? They all seem to just be hanging out while we are approaching our 54th minute (7:33 pm), awaiting them to release our dogs. The pricing for a grooming ~$60 has been explained as a short haired dog that would not normally need a groom. Long haired dogs (our dogs) are more. We should be expected to pay 80 for the Malamute and 70 for the Great Pyrenees. *Update* I called 411 and Denver Police was very helpful when I asked them what to do in regard to the dispute. They were willing to send an officer to avoid any kind of complications. My lady and I politely declined on account of the more important matters the police have to tend to. (We hope the owner can come to his senses and not keep offering a $5 discount. It seems he thinks the money he charged for not cutting the Malamutes pads the first time around, is okay to refund now? We simply hope that he will take the $100 the Salon Manager (Kendra?) agreed to at 10:47am...) We will not be returning here and are now contacting legal to see how this matter can be carried forward. It seems like a form of extortion to enter into a verbal contract, explicitly one where the buyer has asked for a previous service (PAID) to be rectified. We are unsure what matters should be taken from here and believe the owner(s) should be ashamed of their customer service. read more

No. But believable, from the assortment of rhinestones and 24 karat gold trim on collars sold at Dog Savvy. It looks like they were designed by a blind person for a guide dog- because any sighted person would be blinded by putting this much bling on a dog. If you'd like to spend your entire paycheck on your pooch, Dog Savvy has you covered. But seriously, this is a shop run by people who truly love dogs, employing skilled dog groomers, and it carries only top of the line products for man (or more likely woman's) best friend. Who can complain? Even if you only buy one or two things at the sky-high prices (though not as bad as you'll find in Boulder), you'll enjoy chit-chatting with the employees about your respective Fidos and Fluffies. read more

So I already liked this place....but now I really love them!!! SO it's almost 7pm on a Sunday, and they close at five and my husband is just know picking up our super clean malamute.... he was in horrible shape...we wanted to take him in a month ago when the weather started to change and his winter coat started coming out like crazy! Then (if you read my vet review) he had to have stiches and we had to wait until they were out. We tried brushing him, but a 100ld dog with a 30+ cone on his head is almost impossible to brush, especially when he doesn't like it that much to begin with... So we knew he was a horribly hairy beast when we dropped him off... I got a call at 5:05 and they said they were close to being done, but needed to spend some more time. I apologized because I knew he was horrible, and he said "no problem, just wanted to make sure it was ok if we took longer.." most places do a half-a** job on a malamute which is why we took him here in the first place... but to stay and hour and a half after closing on a Sunday just to do a great job is beyond going the extra mile! I went to Dog Savvy to buy a souvenier toy for my doggie on a business trip in Denver. It is really hard to buy her toys and she rejects most of them...the people in the store helped me while I looked for the perfect toy...small enough, soft, with a squeeker...Later that day when I landed back in CA, my little Albondiga fell in love with her new toy...I was overjoyed. Fast Forward 7 months and she has finally torn through the little crocheted pig's booty and pulled out most of the organic cotton stuffing...tha's how much she enjoyed it...I looked all over SF for the same toy to no avail. When I called the store the man on the phone knew exactly what I was talking about, took my address and shipped me out some replacement toys. Erin does a great job grooming Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. These dogs can have tricky coats but she is a pro. Several people see her now from the Denver Doodle Group. My pooch has seen her twice now and we will definitely be back each month. PS: the store carries high quality, food & treats plus a bunch of irresistible toys. There is nothing better to show off your higher tax bracket than by having your dog wear Louis Vuitton, too. Well, there is no Louis Vuitton here, but there is quite a large selection of other doggie outfits. Even though they are not name brands, they sure cost like them. A typical doggie outfit runs around $40-70. I swear, one day, I am going to open up a Ross for doggie outfits. In the meantime, this is a neat store to buy cute doggie outfits if you are into that stuff and those prices. I've been going to Dog savvy about three years now, from the point I bought my first dog. Gogo, my miniature pinscher has been my purse buddy for sometime now, and luckily for me, Dog savvy is the place to buy her the best purses and dog bags to hang out in. Including one of which was hand painted and beautiful. Everytime I went in Rob knew both the dog and I by name as well as my life story. He is very attentive and has a wonderful staff. The grooms there are amazing and the pawdicures are magic to their little puppy feet. It's more than just a nail trim, the pads of her paws were hydrated when I picked her up from Dog Savvy. I had a few problems with the short fur rubbing off of my miniature pinscher's throat at times and rob would suggest different leads and collars and leashes all of which alleviated the problem. I then later got a great dane and Rob showed me a training collar he uses on one of his large dogs and it has been a life saver. It is plastic and humane so it wont hurt the dog but it definitely controls his lunging. I have a new goldendoodle puppy who constantly pulls when on walks. I have been into Petsmart and Petco several times with little to no help or guidance even though there were no other customers in the store at the time. I went into Dog Savvy today and the young girl helped me to find a harness and leash that will teach my dog not to pull on walks and eventually when he is big enough run with me. Surprisingly enough she was able to help 4 other customers at the same time! Much better than the corporate pet stores.
