Valerie did a great job grooming my golden retriever Jax today! He looks and smells amazing and seemed very happy when I picked him up! Pricing was transparent, and everything from drop off to pick up went smoothly. We will definitely be back when Jax needs to be groomed again! read more

Dog Savvy - Freshly groomed Thank you Dog Savvy. - Pet Groomers Near Me - Denver, Colorado

We've been coming to dog savvy for at least 5 years now, maybe even longer. We moved from living downtown to 30 min away a few years ago and still make the drive there and back twice in a day to make sure our pup gets the best care. Our dog is a tough dog to groom, his fur is so thick it takes us a full day to do it when we've done it at home. And on top of his thick fur he's a thicc boy so there's just a lot to groom. I was worried when his groomer moved away but then I found out she trained her replacement specifically on how to take care of our dog and that kind of caring and attention to detail is something you won't get anywhere else. And his grooming has continued to be perfect every time. Dog savvy will continue to see his big booty for as long as we're living in this state and we have no plans of moving any time soon! read more

In town from Chicago, and I LOVE local places. This place is amazing! The staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and great people! Bought two harnesses for my little man Ranger Ryker (Bernedoodle), we got to try them on in the store. Got great toys and treats, he loved the coconut husk chew toy and the viper toy. Rob, one of the owners was very nice to talk to, and meet his two dogs. read more

I don't even know where to begin!! My journey started on Instagram, on my quest to find a new groomer since the last place totally botched my girl. I spent hours trying to find pictures and was willing to drive anywhere within 45 mins. Thankfully I stumbled across Allies page. She had great pictures, before and afters and there were all sorts of pups to showcase her skills. I was impressed, but after my previous experience, I was a bit skeptical. We first connected on Instagram and spent a few days chatting; trying to make sure Allie knew what I wanted cuz after our bad experience, I wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. Allie was patient with me, never promised me anything. She just educated me about the different cuts and gave me suggestions that would compliment my little girl. When we arrived, the staff at Dog Savvy were super sweet. Everyone was helpful and welcomed us. Allie took her time to meet my girl, Millie and really listened to my every concern. Dog savvy has so much swag for the pups, from collars, leashes, tags, bowls and fresh baked goods! When I picked Millie up, even tho grooming sometimes stresses her out, she came back super happy and soooooo beautiful. I was worried because her hair was still very short from previous, but Allie blended what she could and it was so perfect. I had been feeling like a bad mom letting my baby walk around with a messed up cut before and now, I had my girl back!!! Thank you so so so so much Allie!! I've haven't been this happy about a service in a super long time. You truly are a gem and I'm grateful to have found you! read more

Went to Dog Savvy on 12/3/22. I was nervous because my little girl has only been professionally groomed once, which was a very bad experience for her as a puppy. When I walked in they greeted us and introduced us to Sam, after letting Sam know my dog's grooming history, she made sure my dog was comfortable with her and picked her up to bring her to the grooming area. I received a text 20 minutes before her grooming was complete. When we went to pick up my dog, she was happy wagging her little tail and very comfortable around Sam. Sam said my dog was very good and did a great job! Sam was able to get all the services done that I requested and she did an AMAZING job! Sam is also very sweet and I felt very confident my dog was in good hands! We will be back and I highly recommend this business and Sam. read more

Its a RARE opportunity for me to do go Downtown aka in the LODO area. So when L wanted to get something for her fren, she ask me if I could go here. To Dog Savvy we went. Was here on Wedensday February 29th 2012. From the look of it, this store is indeed "POSH" for my liking. The pricing maybe Overpriced for some since its located in DOWNTOWN. I want to like this store in many ways. The owner of this store is indeed helpful and very informative. They not only have things for your Canine needs but as well as for your Feline needs just a limited items to name a few. I like those "magnets" or trickets I wish I could purchase. This store has all the "BLINGS" and The Whistles to pamper your little pets, from pet carriers, leashes, canine treats what nots.. Dog Savvy also allows RETURNS with RECEIPTS in case you dont like your purchase. Perhaps I could convince Hubs to go with me to Dog Savvy when we intend to get our Canine needs in the future. Perhaps so... I hope... @32/2012 read more

We have an Aussie puppy who is very uncomfortable with the grooming process. The previous groomer at a different store took things very quickly and stressed out our pup and said he did not do well with the grooming process. We came to dog savvy because of all the great reviews and we could not be more impressed. We informed the groomer that our pup was easily stressed out by the grooming process and asked her to take things slowly and not use clippers or the dryer for this visit since we are just trying to get comfortable with the process. She let us know that they would never use clippers on a double coated dog and that she would go very slowly. 2 hours later we picked up a clean and happy puppy and she let us know that he did very well. We could not be happier! read more

I came here on a Beautiful Saturday with my friend who lives in Denver and her lovely Dog Lucy. What a cool and groovy store. It is beautiful inside, very welcoming , and the staff is great. Even though I had never been here before, but my friend had. I instantly loved it!! The man at the check out, even gave Lucy a treat. He told my friend all about bringing Lucy in for Grooming and all their services. She said she would give it a try one day soon. Something I learned on this day? What a Bully stick is. I love to learn something new every day.Hehee but, truly. Love this store. If you have a pet ,it is so worth a visit. Even if you do not live in Denver. read more

I have taken my golden here a few times. The last time we took him, I asked for his coat (mostly his butt and tail) to have little trims because it was getting a little long and stringy. They cut him way too short which made chocked up to being a miscommunication. I was frustrated, but I could see how they could have been confused. We took him in again today and specifically asked they do not cut him at all outside of his feet. When I got him back, his long butt fluff - or what we call pants - were completely cut off. Gone. His chest was also cut all the way down. I feel like a crazy person crying about my dogs hair, but I love it and SPECIFICALLY asked for them to not to cut him. I asked to cancel future appointments to which he replied "I'm sorry you can't understand a miscommunication". I didn't realize that "don't cut my dog" wasn't clear enough?? So rude. My husband called after and only then did they offer any sincere apology and a partial refund - not the woman standing in front of them raising legitimate concerns. I do not recommend coming here at all, it's a lot of money for something that will take years to grow back. read more

Huh! I never leave reviews but, after having my office directly across the street from this place for 20 years and living a block away for 23, I finally got the love of my life (Shiba Inu pup-Yoki) and tried it. Wow! In a world where customer service is circling the drain and employees that couldn't care less about performance, this was/is a sparkling exception. All the way to the top! Robb (owner) is there often and has obviously schooled his employees with his knowledge. Pleasure!! read more

Dog Savvy is not so much a dog store, where you get the essentials like food, but a place to bling-out your canine friend. They have tons of nice doggy toys and assorted goods to choose from, all at a fairly steep price however. Nonetheless, the dog water bowls and the leashes and the collars were all fairly hilarious or cutesy so this place gets its third star. The guy behind the counter was nice enough to say that this place had good service. Not a bad place if you are looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-gifts for companion of yours. read more

After the first horrible grooming experience we had at a place on Tennyson... I made sure to check Yelp and reallyyy look for a GOOD dog groomer here in Denver (jut recently moved here). AND WE STRUCK GOLD!!!! They didn't charge as much as the groomer on Tennyson ANDDDDD they did a THOUSAND TIMES BETTER!!!! Teddy (my Yorkie chihuahua) was happyyy(not traumatized) & looks fly as can be. So happy with the customer service and the fact that they actually have you fill out a form for your dog and take their time and do a good job. Great place and will definitely bring my boy back there! Ps teddy says thanks, he's getting all the ladies now read more

Been bringing the surrogate doggy here for nail trims for a few months. This spot is friendly, has tons of cute apparel (sweaters, bows, collars, leashes) and snacks/treats for the puppers. Even though he hates getting his nails trimmed (we do the dremmel), they get it done quickly and done well. Pretty reasonable prices for being in such a prime location! Plus with sbux next door, you could probably drop off your pooch for the nail trim, go grab your coffee, and be back just in time! read more

Cute overload is the way I would describe Dog Savvy. A sea of doggie toys, collars, leashes and other accessories to make your pup one dapper dog. I love their selection of items. A good mix of basics with some unique pieces. They even had some Shiba Inu items in their breed stuff - which I can almost never find! I think this would be a place I would come for a gift or something special, but quite frankly it was insanely expensive. And I am a person who will spend a pretty penny on her pup! read more

Allie groomed my standard poodle boy and did an amazing job. I used to use big box pet stores for my grooming when I didn't feel up for it, and it would be the same charges but worse results. I will happily drive into Denver to have my boy groomed here from now on. read more

We had a wonderful grooming and shopping experience at Dog Savvy. We were impressed by our bull terriers gleaming white silky coat & her nail dremmel was the best we have had yet. Normally her paws & nails are so scratchy but the groomer was able to smooth them out. The way they brushed her coat dramatically reduced her shedding. The groomer was incredibly attentive. We also bought the best harness & leash in the "ruff wear" brand & the staff fitted her for both. She is now walking so much more comfortably in the right fitting harness for her. We found easy parking out front and simply had a great experience! It's obvious that the folks at Dog Savvy love dogs & treat their canine customers with absolute TLC. We will go back! read more

I am sitting here waiting from Robb to come from his home to release my dogs from the little jails they are holding them in downstairs. While the "Salon Manager" and I agreed to have the dogs groomed by Dog Savvy (for the second time in 30 days mind you) in order to rectify the poor job that was performed the first time around, it seems the agreed $100 for the job is not enough. It seems the owner wants us to continue waiting here while security tries to "bully" us out of the store. The security is asking questions along the lines of "Why would you return to where they did a bad job" we are simply replying "We came back to give them a second chance and at an agreed discount. It seems that he gets it, yet he is a little pre preoccupied talking to the 3 friends of the girl whom works there? They all seem to just be hanging out while we are approaching our 54th minute (7:33 pm), awaiting them to release our dogs. The pricing for a grooming ~$60 has been explained as a short haired dog that would not normally need a groom. Long haired dogs (our dogs) are more. We should be expected to pay 80 for the Malamute and 70 for the Great Pyrenees. *Update* I called 411 and Denver Police was very helpful when I asked them what to do in regard to the dispute. They were willing to send an officer to avoid any kind of complications. My lady and I politely declined on account of the more important matters the police have to tend to. (We hope the owner can come to his senses and not keep offering a $5 discount. It seems he thinks the money he charged for not cutting the Malamutes pads the first time around, is okay to refund now? We simply hope that he will take the $100 the Salon Manager (Kendra?) agreed to at 10:47am...) We will not be returning here and are now contacting legal to see how this matter can be carried forward. It seems like a form of extortion to enter into a verbal contract, explicitly one where the buyer has asked for a previous service (PAID) to be rectified. We are unsure what matters should be taken from here and believe the owner(s) should be ashamed of their customer service. read more

Tinkerbelle, where are you? Tinkerbelle? Oh, there he is- Paris Hilton's first Chihuahua, lost and never seen again- until now, when I found him hiding behind the counter as Dog Savvy's new fashion consultant. Really? No. But believable, from the assortment of rhinestones and 24 karat gold trim on collars sold at Dog Savvy. It looks like they were designed by a blind person for a guide dog- because any sighted person would be blinded by putting this much bling on a dog. If you'd like to spend your entire paycheck on your pooch, Dog Savvy has you covered. But seriously, this is a shop run by people who truly love dogs, employing skilled dog groomers, and it carries only top of the line products for man (or more likely woman's) best friend. Who can complain? Even if you only buy one or two things at the sky-high prices (though not as bad as you'll find in Boulder), you'll enjoy chit-chatting with the employees about your respective Fidos and Fluffies. read more

For all DOGGIE FANATICS! Come all and come see... I have been trying to come here for some time but keep coming to Larimer Street too late. :( What a great pet boutique. Like a lot of the other yelpers, this place is a bit on the pricer but it is on Larimer Street after all...LOL If you are a costume junkie for your K9 this is the place for you. Leather coats, little tee shirts that say "bitches love me"....how awesome is that?! Great high quality toys that have survived even my German Shephard (and she's a toy destroying expert). Also they have a wonderful assortment of leashes and collars. Go to town and enjoy yourself here. Go gettem POOCHES! read more

So I already liked this place....but now I really love them!!! SO it's almost 7pm on a Sunday, and they close at five and my husband is just know picking up our super clean malamute.... he was in horrible shape...we wanted to take him in a month ago when the weather started to change and his winter coat started coming out like crazy! Then (if you read my vet review) he had to have stiches and we had to wait until they were out. We tried brushing him, but a 100ld dog with a 30+ cone on his head is almost impossible to brush, especially when he doesn't like it that much to begin with... So we knew he was a horribly hairy beast when we dropped him off... I got a call at 5:05 and they said they were close to being done, but needed to spend some more time. I apologized because I knew he was horrible, and he said "no problem, just wanted to make sure it was ok if we took longer.." most places do a half-a** job on a malamute which is why we took him here in the first place... but to stay and hour and a half after closing on a Sunday just to do a great job is beyond going the extra mile! For whom ever got the short end of the stick to work on him thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! If you need a groomer who is great and cares this is your place!!! thanks guys!!!! read more

I went to Dog Savvy to buy a souvenier toy for my doggie on a business trip in Denver. It is really hard to buy her toys and she rejects most of them...the people in the store helped me while I looked for the perfect toy...small enough, soft, with a squeeker...Later that day when I landed back in CA, my little Albondiga fell in love with her new toy...I was overjoyed. Fast Forward 7 months and she has finally torn through the little crocheted pig's booty and pulled out most of the organic cotton stuffing...tha's how much she enjoyed it...I looked all over SF for the same toy to no avail. When I called the store the man on the phone knew exactly what I was talking about, took my address and shipped me out some replacement toys. Now that's what I call an awesome pet boutique with beyond amazing customer service. This shop will always be on my shopping list on return trips to Denver. read more

Erin does a great job grooming Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. These dogs can have tricky coats but she is a pro. Several people see her now from the Denver Doodle Group. My pooch has seen her twice now and we will definitely be back each month. PS: the store carries high quality, food & treats plus a bunch of irresistible toys. TIP: Parking is a pain in the neck in Larimer Square and there is no loading zone we could find close by so if you can have 2 people do a drop-off/pick-up that will be best for those who don't live downtown. read more

I always wondered where those rich ladies with small dogs get their dog outfits that match their dress, coat, purse, hat, socks, underwear???, whatever. There is nothing better to show off your higher tax bracket than by having your dog wear Louis Vuitton, too. Well, there is no Louis Vuitton here, but there is quite a large selection of other doggie outfits. Even though they are not name brands, they sure cost like them. A typical doggie outfit runs around $40-70. I swear, one day, I am going to open up a Ross for doggie outfits. In the meantime, this is a neat store to buy cute doggie outfits if you are into that stuff and those prices. They also carry other items to make your dog to not only feel like a human being, but a superior human being who is better than everyone else e.g. dog self-portraits, highly-decorated bowls, and expensive food. They have one doggie T-shirt that says "My owner is single." Awesome. I totally dig that T-shirt, and I am totally married. 1 star off: price...wait 'til I open up my Ross For Dogs read more

Very cool store with lots of goodies for Fido, although a Larimer Square addy makes the prices a wee bit higher. I found heavy-duty 10-scale durable toys here that I haven't seen in other pet boutiques. If you're the kind of weirdo pet parent that dresses your dog (no offense), you'll be in heaven here - Robb carries a ton of options, incl funny kitsch like hoodies that say "Beyatch" and other dorky dog couture. I was disappointed that they were totally out of stock on rubber/waterproof collars, but other than that, this store is well worth the trip in! read more

I've been going to Dog savvy about three years now, from the point I bought my first dog. Gogo, my miniature pinscher has been my purse buddy for sometime now, and luckily for me, Dog savvy is the place to buy her the best purses and dog bags to hang out in. Including one of which was hand painted and beautiful. Everytime I went in Rob knew both the dog and I by name as well as my life story. He is very attentive and has a wonderful staff. The grooms there are amazing and the pawdicures are magic to their little puppy feet. It's more than just a nail trim, the pads of her paws were hydrated when I picked her up from Dog Savvy. I had a few problems with the short fur rubbing off of my miniature pinscher's throat at times and rob would suggest different leads and collars and leashes all of which alleviated the problem. I then later got a great dane and Rob showed me a training collar he uses on one of his large dogs and it has been a life saver. It is plastic and humane so it wont hurt the dog but it definitely controls his lunging. I can't thank Rob and the team at dog savvy enough for all the help they've provided over the years. read more

I have a new goldendoodle puppy who constantly pulls when on walks. I have been into Petsmart and Petco several times with little to no help or guidance even though there were no other customers in the store at the time. I went into Dog Savvy today and the young girl helped me to find a harness and leash that will teach my dog not to pull on walks and eventually when he is big enough run with me. Surprisingly enough she was able to help 4 other customers at the same time! Much better than the corporate pet stores. I truly appreciated the help and am willing to pay a higher price and drive a bit further for quality products. read more

My dog. Where to begin with that furry monster. Dog food aside, the one thing that I spend the most on with my dog is leashes. The little goober chews through them like he's eating an apple or something. Finally after he chewed through a leash that I had purchased only two hours before, I threw my hands up and gave in and went to a pet store that would be able to help me solve my problem. The gentleman at the counter was extremely helpful and talked to me for a while about what the problem was and how it could be solved (Zed chews through leashes when I tie him up outside the grocery store to run errands, so I'm not there to correct the behavior). Finally, we agreed that a chain leash is pretty much the only option. And after looking at leashes for a while, I realized he was selling me one of the cheapest leashes in the place because that's what my dog needed. He wasn't out to make a buck, he genuinely wanted me to get the right product for my dog. Hat tip to this place for not only providing luxury pet items, but for having the knowledge to actually help their customers get exactly what they need. read more
