I absolutely love Susan and her little business. She is a rare gem in the dog grooming world- she works on your pup the whole time and doesn't take a very long time. I love that my anxious doodle doesn't have to be around a lot of other dogs with anxious energy or barking all day. Susan also gives my dog treats while grooming which I love! I have asked other groomers to do so, and they usually don't. Depending on how matted my dog is she usually is in the groomer for one hour to 3 hours. Her space is large and clean and she has individual kennels to keep your pup until you are able to pick up your dog. You have to call Susan and make sure your dog is a good fit and then after the first visit you can text for another appointment. I have brought my dog to her about 6 times and I am never disappointed. Thanks Susan! read more

Susan at The Put Together Pooch has a very reasonable price for washing your own pup in one of her bathtubs and can offer stairs if your dog needs them or is willing to climb up them. She also can wash and groom your pet for you. She is located in an older strip mall that has food/coffee shop options. read more

Susan is a wonderful human being. I have a 4 y/o german shepherd/chow/malamute mix who is genetically disposed to HATE nail trims (IYKYK). I'm too nervous to do this myself, as her nails grow fairly quickly, and are all completely black so I can't see the quick. Susan is so patient and good with this over the top diva behavior and really has grown amazing trust with my pup. We've never left with even a minor injury. Other places have skipped nails and given up halfway through when my dog squirms too much (worth noting that she's never shown aggression to anyone doing this, she just tries to pull away the whole time, so it's annoying at worst). My vet started to jack up prices for this ($50?!!) and would tell me to put her on trazodone for this 5 min procedure. Not okay. Finding a trustworthy, flexible, dependent source for this regular maintenance was difficult. Susan is our hero! AND SHES SO AFFORDABLE! You can tell she cares deeply for all dogs - that's both undeniable and highly valuable. We recently moved ~25 mins away and continue travel out to give her business. She's great with scheduling over the phone and has been super patient with rescheduling when life happens. I can't recommend her enough. read more

I finally found a groomer that truly loves dogs and treats them like royalty .. purebred or hines 57- they are all treated like royalty. You can be assurred all the praise and positive reviews are absolutely true. And, if you ever hear different consider its one negative crazy person against hundreds of 5-star reviews. I personally recommend Susan, the owner and groomer because she is well-educated in the treatment of dogs and has years of experience to back her up. read more

Buttercup (ancy 16lbs of love!) is not an easy client when it comes to nail trims. BUT, Susan has gone above and beyond at making more tolerable for her - and dare I say FUN !?? Susan is wonderful, and knows how to handle even the most anxious of dogs. Since she isn't cutting multiple dogs at once, our dog is way more at ease when we take him in. We've been coming here ever since we moved to Denver three or four years ago, and plan to keep going for the foreseeable future read more

Susan is a real direct human being who truly cares about the dogs that she's grooming. On the phone she certainly came off gruff but she was also asking good questions about my dog's size, experience, etc. I felt like she was being thorough and when we came in the first time Susan was very sensitive that my dog would much rather not be there. She was also very thoughtful about how best to keep his length when he's been matted. Mine has gone there three times now, and while he's still not a fan of getting groomed, he comes back nicely cleaned up. Some things to note: This is a small business so cash is preferred, and if credit cards are the only option, AmEx charges higher fees than the other cards do. Susan also doesn't do anal gland expressions. read more

I'm confused. I called to get info. Was looking for self serve dog wash services. Susan sounding very dismayed at my answer as to what type of dogs my son had said, "I only take appointments for small dogs, I don't do those big dogs". And for self service wash that, "the dogs would have to be well socialized to bring in because it's an open concept shop". I said ok, that again I was looking for self service and let her know my son and his wife would bring them in. Then with a sigh she said, "because of the breed band and the open concept people don't bring those type of dogs in here, sooo yeah" I asked, "So is that a no? They can't bring them in?" Susan said, "No". And here I've been recommending this place to people and my own son can't use the services. read more

Last Friday, I was desperately searching online for a groomer who could clip my Shih Tzu, Maddie on Saturday, because she's been so *hot* for the past few weeks, and her hair was looking scruffy. In my search, I found The Put Together Pooch right here on Yelp! Sadly, I have driven right past this shop almost daily for five years, and never even noticed it; only due to my dumbness, not a lack of signage. Susan is the owner and groomer, and she is incredibly nice. I brought my Chihuahua, Nacho, with us, and at the last second, I asked Susan if she could trim his nails. Nacho is about eighteen months old, and was a TERROR with nail trims. I'd been taking him to a vet to have it done, but Susan had some extra time, so she scooped up my boy and took him in the back. There was no screaming, and she brought him back to me, happy as a clam. Susan has an amazing energy that I know my dogs respond to. I wanted to have Maddie trimmed as short as possible for the rest of the summer, and Susan did *exactly* what we discussed. I showed her a photo of a Shih Tzu whose ears had been trimmed (the hair, not the ear) all the way down; I'd been considering trying that "new look" on Maddie for a while. I also asked for Maddie's standard, keep her eyelashes long if possible, anal-gland expression and nail trim. And she was even wearing a fancy little pink neckerchief when I picked her up! I can honestly say, this was the best groom that Maddie has ever had! (She just turned five in June). However, the second best part about Susan is that she accepts appointments on Saturdays and Sundays! This makes it SO much easier to get Maddie trimmed every six weeks. I live in City Park and work Downtown, but trying to negotiate an appointment during the week was becoming nearly impossible. Maddie has a new groomer for LIFE! Thank you Susan! read more

Susan is the best dog groomer around! When I arrive with my dog, Cruz, he is actually excited! I've never seen a dog excited to go to the groomer. She grooms Cruz with such care and is so gentle with him. Susan is reliable, fast and incredibly good with dogs. She is the only person we trust with Cruz's coat and would recommend her to any dog owner. read more

Overprotective dog owners: LOOK NO FURTHER! Susan, the PTP's owner and sole groomer is a true, caring professional in Denver's sea of lazy, opportunistic dog groomers. I can't say enough good things about her. Her knowledge of breeds both big and small is impressive and she has a great natural chemistry with my dog (who is small and often shy). She also does not OVERBOOK. This means that your dog will not be sitting around, forgotten and neglected in the back of a warehouse like Petco or Petsmart, and she can commit a healthy chunk of time to each dog (no rushed cuts). I really cannot say enough good things about Susan and her business. She was probably the 7th groomer we've tried since adopting our Shih-Tzu in 2012, and the first groomer to which we have returned for subsequent visits. Susan has been giving Humphrey his cuts for almost 2 years and we're hoping for many more to come. read more

Susan is the most unprofessional groomer and business operator I can say I've ever interacted with. I have had her foul mouth local businesses while I'm seeking services, she has yelled at the dogs while grooming them (you can hear walking by) and not only that, she yelled at me in the middle of the street for merely inquiring about changing an appointment. I would not feel safe bringing my year old doodle to her as she is so up and down in her interactions with people. read more

I'm a new customer here, so I had no idea she was off on Tuesdays. But I called ahead, and she answered, saying she'd be there within the hour. I met her at the salon, and she got my pup and me in and out in less than 10 minutes! A+ would recommend. read more

Pro: Good dog groomer. Con: Very poor business etiquette: Hanging up on customers and refusing to reschedule.

So you do not waste your time calling them or stopping in, they do not do dogs that have not been professionally groomed before or doodles. My dog is not a doodle, but she kept calling her one for some reason (this was over the phone.) read more

This is the second time I took my labradoodles to this shop. The first time they came out looking a bit uneven but the price was good and I love to support local businesses. Susan is amazing! I walked in and walked out in about five minutes. Two nail clippings and an anal gland expression for $26. Can't be beat! This is a great little spot in the neighborhood. Susan loves dogs and she is loving and kind to my little miniature schnauzers when they come in. They always get a great hair cut, smell great, cute bandana, etc. My two don't really like getting groomed (or going to the vet!), but they love Susan and once they get inside they are calm and ready. I highly recommend! read more

We had a tough time finding a place to get our two goldendoodles cleaned up after moving to Denver. The Put Together Pooch had an opening the next day and did a wonderful job. Both dogs seemed to enjoy themselves. Our old groomer did a wonderful job, but it often took all day. At this place, both dogs were done in 4 hours and were much, much cheaper than anywhere else we looked. This is not to detract from the quality of the service. Both dogs were obviously shampoo'd and cut to exactly what we wanted. This took our old groomer several attempts to get nailed down. Susan did it on the first try. A+ read more

My dog was a research animal until a year ago and he's very shy and easily scared. I have been impressed with Susan's dedication and her desire to share her knowledge whether or not the customer is a do-it-yourself service user. Terrible. Showed her a photo of a golden with a short top coat. Come to find she had completely buzzed it off. The groomer's excuse: my dog had curly hair and it's not good looking to have a short top coat...Grooming 101: Under no circumstance are you supposed to buzz the top coat to a double coated dog. The lady Susan, is either lazy or has no idea what she's doing...My advice, go to a professional. read more

Susan is the BEST groomer and most kind lady that my dogs and I have ever met. I took my Maltese, Lou-Lou, to her since 1995. This place was amazing! Took the dog in on a Sunday. Susan was extremely helpful the entire time, but also allowed us our free space to get the dog clean. You get your own bathtub for your dog, she has treats to help lure the dog into the tub, and keep them distracted throughout the bathing process. She has several scents for shampoo and conditioner, cleaning brushes, ear cleaner, towels and a very efficient blow dryer! It was so easy, convenient and fun. She then trimmed the toenails in a very gentle manner. We did all of this at a very good price. We are SO excited to take our dog back there again! read more

This is the best groomer we have found in Denver. Our cocker is so scared to get a haircut. What I love about Susan is she only takes one dog at a time so she is much quicker than other groomers we have used who end up putting your dog in a kennel for 2 hours before actually getting around to grooming your dog. Not only that, but she does an awesome job and her prices are very competitive. read more

My rescued schnoodle probably has some abuse history and is very jumpy. I have groomed him myself but it obviously isn't as good as a pro. Susan groomed him once and it was great. Trying to make a second appt months later I was told she has an injury and probably is unable to handle a "behavioral" dog. He's jumpy but not aggressive and I've shaved him myself with some patience. My issue is that when I respectfully offered to go else where I was told that "I don't know where else you would go except maybe a vet that could sedate and monitor him." Really? Good thing I won't actually do that to dog. I'll shave him myself and find another groomer this week. read more

Finally a STABLE GROOMER. After the last owner Brad , my dog was traumatized and I had to groom myself. Susan gave me new hope and my dog is finally calmed down because of her grooming and understanding of my last experience. I suggest making sure that the groomer is Certified and Experienced . It really helps having that info. read more
