Parking: There is currently construction in the area, but street parking is free. I have never had an issue finding a spot nearby. Safety: For those familiar with Colfax, they have a double-door system and will buzz you in after a certain time. This is just them being cautious and responsible for their business and our pets. The Extra Touches: They do a beautiful job with styling. I always show a reference photo, and they get it as close as possible. Even calling me to discuss how to adjust the cut if my dog's ear shape is a bit different than the photo. She always comes home with a cute seasonal bandana (like a heart-themed one!) and sometimes even little bows or ribbons on her head. It is adorable! Overall Experience: I've been bringing my miniature poodle here for about a year and a half and the experience has been wonderful. When she was a puppy, she struggled to keep her face still, but the staff gave me excellent homework and tips on how to practice gentle handling at home. They even taught me which specific brushes to use for her curly hair to prevent matting and recommended eye cleaning wipes. The staff is incredibly friendly and my dog is always happy to see them. I have been coming to Pampered Paws for quite some time now and I usually see Hailey whom I would highly recommend. Unfortunately this time I needed to get my dog in for a groom on a day Hailey doesn't work, a choice I deeply regret. I called before booking the appointment to ask if Maribel had experience with long haired dachshunds and while I was told she did, it is very clear she DOES NOT. It was also never mentioned that Maribel doesn't speak english. Typically that wouldn't be an issue except in this situation I have very specific instructions for how I like my dog groomed. Long haired dachshunds don't typically get "haircuts", and you definitely should never cut their ears or shave their face!! It is basic long haired Dachshund etiquette. The only reason I come in is to make my life a little easier trimming her sanitary area and keeping her paws nice and short for cleanliness. I love her full coat, I do not like anyone to trim anywhere that I don't specifically ask for and unfortunately, it seems that the consultation instructions aren't always adhered to despite repeating myself. This is particularly challenging when there is a language barrier and no confirmation that the person understands. I really wish I would have rescheduled as soon as I realized this issue but I was assured she was skilled. Maribel is not skilled. Maribel blatantly did not follow my instructions despite repeating myself several times, and even confirming with the front desk gal who spoke Spanish also and was trying to interpret what I was saying. Such a red flag overlooked and a bad business practice. She ended up cutting her ears and her face, leaving a terrible mark on her nose. Not a cut, it just looks like she was careless with the trimmer. Why she even trimmed the facial hair is beyond me. I specifically say NO FACE, NO EARS, NO CHEST every time I come in. She also trimmed her beautiful long ears into some stupid bowl cut and I couldn't be more upset. She butchered the hair on her body and it's clear she doesn't have experience with long haired dachshunds. If her hair doesn't grow back, they will have a far larger issue than this review. My appointment took almost 3 hours rather than the regular 1.5 hours and there was no communication keeping me updated on the need for extra time. I should have known I was in trouble when the one thing I take her there for (her feet), were not done when she brought her out AFTER 3 HOURS! I am so pissed off at everyone who had a part in this, particularly Maribel and management who refuse to take any accountability. I typically always book a Bath and Brush, not a full groom, but the online booking system doesn't allow me to book anything other than a full groom which is usually corrected upon my arrival. The gal at the front desk should also be blamed for not accurately adjusting my appointment, and for lying to me that Maribel had experience with long haired dachshunds. It should absolutely be disclosed that the professional cannot speak english. Although after repeating myself 3x telling her NOT TO TOUCH HER EARS, HER FACE OR HER CHEST, maybe she's just an idiot and it has nothing to do with a language difference. When I called to report this issue, my feelings were not validated, no apology was given and I was offered 50% off my next groom as a resolution. The manager wouldn't call me back despite multiple requests to do so and never followed up with me after several attempts to communicate. Furthermore, I also learned that despite having been there a half dozen times or more, there are no notes about how I prefer my appointments/groom to go so Maribel had no reference, which probably wouldn't have mattered anyways. There should absolutely be some documentation of my preferences to potentially prevent these mistakes. The girl at the front desk confirmed with me that there are no notes from the groomers which is careless and unprofessional. How a business handles these situations can make or break the outcome and it is clear the manager is a coward. Everyone representing this business could use a lesson in customer service. I will not be returning as a result of how this entire situation was handled and I would sincerely implore others who read this review to look elsewhere. The one redeeming star is for Hailey who is actually a very talented groomer and lovely human being. read more

I have been looking for a groomer who can actually do my dogs hair. I got my pup in November and took her to another groomer who just literally shaved off all over hair and she looked awful. They didn't even consider her fur texture and just shaved the hair off. It was totally unnecessary. I saw good reviews for Pampered paws so decided to give them a try. The prices were reasonable to me, and also the staff were friendly. The cut my dog got was perfect for the summer and the grooming session included clipping the nails, cleaning up the paw pads, a nice wash. They shaped her face nicely and at the end of the session they give you an overview of what they did and her temperament. She did very well there and was a good girl. My only complaint which is minor is that it's street parking so sometimes it's a bit hard to find parking especially with the colfax construction but that's not their problem! read more

Two bad experiences, should've known better than to try it again after the first time, which included them shaving my dog completely, and a new set of shakes that happens when my dog hears buzzers. It is a different groomer there every time, only since the bad above experience have they taken time to hear my asks and concerns. So at least this time they stopped before butchering my pup all the way, to call and let me know how irritated and horrible his skin was; they were going to have to shave off all of his fur. Implying to me how horribly matted and neglected this dog is. This dog that has spent 24 hours a day with me for 4 years, who's never been in the vicinity of neglected. !!Proceed With Caution!! I made an appointment for my dog (Australian Shepherd Poodle Mix) to have a Full Groom service this month and I had selected Pampered Paws because they were a women owned business and they also donate a portion of their proceeds to The Mile High Canine Rescue. The reason i'm recommending others to proceed with caution when doing business here (I personally will *not* be back) is because my dog has been acting traumatized since his appointment. He doesn't want anyone touching him despite being normally very sweet and cuddly. Additionally both my husband and I had very bad experiences with the staff. On the day of our appointment my husband did the drop off and during the consultation, give instruction for only a 1/2 inch trim all around. He was also very clear that we did not want to have his coat styled (just a shorter version of his current shag). We were trying to avoid the "poodle" cut, in fact my husbands exact words were "do not make him look like a golden-doodle". Although our dog is mixed with poodle, he has more of a flat coat which is another reason we wanted to avoid the styled trim. When I went for pick-up 2 hours later as was communicated during drop-off, I was informed that they were running behind and it was going to be another 30 mins. I understand unanticipated issues can pop-up but the employee immediately blamed my husband for not communicating their pick-up process and said the appointment would take the full 2 hours. When I reminded her I was there at the 2 hour mark she blamed another clients dog for the back-up. When they were finally finished with my dog and brought him out, it was immediately clear they had not followed any of the consultation instructions . His coat had been trimmed very low (over an inch taken off) and there he stood styled as a poodle, EXACTLY what we were trying to avoid. After getting home I also noticed the hair was not evenly cut. It is very choppy and uneven in places. When my husband called to discuss our concerns with the services they provided he was met with hostility from the staff and a lack of accountability for how his cut had turned out despite very specific instructions not to style and avoid "poodle" cuts. I would have expected the staff to help us find a solution instead of blaming us for not having a picture. We would have been more than happy to provide a picture if one was requested as an example of what we were looking for. read more

Been going here for over a year and have decided to discontinue taking my dog here. A few red flags: 1. My dog freaked out when she saw the groomer. Went from not wanting to be there to clearly something was wrong and I spend everyday with my dog working from home. She had never acted this way before, even having gone to the same groomer for a year. 2. Groomer said they didn't have notes about what to do. That's concerning since we have been there more than a half dozen times with the same groomer and he had trimmed my dog just 2 months prior... I really really liked this place and drove 15 minutes to get here each time but there were too many red flags to ignore. There were a couple others observations that also raised concerns. I worked really hard for many weeks and two times a day to help get rid of the mats out before l could bring her to be groomed. Started out well, pretty downhill after a handful of grooms. Do Not Recommend. I've had a heck of time finding a kind, consistent, reliable, quality, reasonably priced, conveniently located dog groomer in Denver metro. PetSmart injured one of my dogs (never going back), Dog House (prior groomer Hannah, left after a few services and got a call after my dogs were scheduled to update on what happened), Pampered Paws (terrible customer service, high groomer/staff turnover, a lot of weird issues with scheduling, aggressive 'charge your card' policies when they don't always pick up the phone or respond to messages/emails, inaccurate pick up times the try to charge you, couldn't do nails, ECT)... I even offered to get my pups nails done at the vet and keep trying out the groomers, but they refused to offer any kind of discount and said it was a package deal. Unfortunately, I can't accept split and overgrown nails as a good enough deal. I came across this another initial/seemingly awesome experience via Google after giving up on this place. Furry Family LLC off Colfax. Our first experience from scheduling to finished outcome was really inspiring. Dogs were happy and looked awesome! He had a couple of matts behind his ears and 1-2 in his chest which he gets daily when he plays with dogs other dogs (and I can EASILY get them out when I brush him). He is well taken care of, and I don't know if it was laziness or covering up a mistake, but this i Before, I was under the impression that the quality of the grooming was poor, but now I realize the integrity of this business is what's poor. I'm new to the area and have a Leonberger which is a rather large dog. Pampered paws is one of the only groomers in the area I found to work with larger breeds. When I booked on the phone I was not made aware of a fee for dogs over 90lbs. When I showed up for the appointment I was not made aware of this fee. However when I had to pay $350 for a full groom, as I was in shock I was told the fee explanation is on their website. I never explored their website because I booked over the phone. I came from downtown Chicago where I would routinely pay $140-160 for a groom. That to me is normal. They are a money grab business adding extortion style fees on everything they can. I.e. Late pickup fee $5/15 min etc. Instead of locking in a customer for routine services that over a year would of totaled well over this cost. They lost one. Large dog owners stay away. read more

This was my 3rd time taking my mini Australian labradoodle to get groomed here and could not be happier with the way she turned out. Not going to lie, I was a little hesitant to take my dog back here since last time after I took her home I noticed that they cut her ears too short and caused them to bleed for several days after. I never called back after that visit (my fault) but because of that I was hesitant to go back. My brother got me a gift card for Christmas so I decided to give them another shot and GLAD I did. As we strongly believe in supporting women-owned businesses such as this one, it is with displeasure that I write to update and downgrade my review for Pampered Paws from 3-star to 1-star. I feel that this business is poorly managed, and the management does not appear to have customer service as a pillar of its business model. In 2022, we visited Pampered Paws a total of 8 times (3/8, 5/10, 5/12, 6/15, 6/17, 7/26, 7/27, and 11/1) and spent $1,233.50 for grooming services for our two medium-sized goldendoodles. Throughout our visits, we began to note inconsistent customer service, where some visits went smoothly and we were greeted warmly, while other visits we found the receptionist and occasionally the manager (Kinzie) to be rather flippant and rude, as if trying to embody the personality of Regina George, especially when it came to scheduling another visit. After our eighth visit, we called to schedule another appointment and were told, very bluntly, that we wouldn't be able to schedule for another 3 months. There was no "Oh I'm so sorry but we're booked for the next 3 months," or "I can try to put you on a waitlist," or "Thank you so much for your support but unfortunately we're at capacity." Zero care or recognition was given that we were a repeat customer trying to support their business. We posted a 3-star review and wrote them an e-mail verifying that there really were no openings - or any other options - for the next 3 months. We received a reply that began with disagreement with our 3-star review but offered an option to book with a new groomer-in-training, which we agreed to in order to give things another shot. The next e-mail reply we received mentioned that we were booked but that our "January appointment is in [sic] contingent to your updated review after your December appointment." We interpreted this as they wouldn't allow another appointment after December unless we revised our review to a 5-star. I called and asked Kinzie if I could speak with the owner to put an end to this back and forth and try to humanize the correspondence. Kinzie told me the owner was out of office but that the owner would give me a call the following week. Instead, I received an e-mail the same day written from the owner (who, oddly, never mentioned her name) saying that I was "the first person to complain about our customer service" and that "it doesn't seem that we are able to make you happy so because of this, I will go ahead and cancel your future December and January appointments that should not have been scheduled." Without any explanation or phone call (as was requested), the owner dropped us as clients. Ironically, we received a "last minute openings" e-mail a month and a half later stating there were openings in December and January. Reading other low-star reviews on Yelp and Google, it seems common that the owner will sever relationships with clients that are critical of her business or are uncomplimentary of their experiences. I find this behavior of a business owner unacceptable. read more

I was in for a HUGE disappointment when I took my giant schnauzer back to Pampered Paws yesterday (Feb 2, 2023). They told me they lost 2 great groomers and yet raised the price. It was already very pricey but the groomer was great and he came home calm and happy so I was willing to ignore the location. The new groomer kept asking me same question about giving him the schnauzer cut and I kept saying no it's too expensive. The only time I had them do the schnauzer cut it was $160. he's my baby but that's ridiculous. I told her a puppy cut. I picked him up and he has a puppy cut with a bobble head! His ears are not properly groomed. The cost was $175.00 yes, $175.00 that is not a typo. He was nervous and jumpy for 3 hours last night. I have been taking my dog here for several months but will NEVER go back again. I called my friend who recommended them to tell her and she said they priced themselves right out of her business. The woman at the desk said they had a price increase but it was not more than $10 so I asked her to look up what I paid last time, she finally admitted that the price had increased more than $10 more like $35. for my dog. I brought my Labradoodle in to get groomed after a poor experience with his previous groomer and I couldn't be happier! Best groom he's gotten hands down. I called the past weekend to book an appointment (many groomers are not accepting new clients right now) and surprisingly they were able to get me in this morning due to a cancellation. Each experience from my first phone call to walking in the door exceeded all expectations. Customer service was amazing and Baileys groomer did a wonderful job at meeting my expectations from the image I showed her and explained everything afterwards. I called twice during business hours and it went to voicemail. On the voicemail it says they don't call back voicemails and tells you if you need an appointment to call back or email them but then doesn't tell you the email and there's also no email on the website. It's a strange way to run a business. It doesn't exactly make it convenient to book an appointment. I'm not going to give one star since they could do a good job grooming but two stars for the immediate bad taste in the mouth experience. read more

Staff was very nice. Apt time was on time. However, they use crates. This was our first crate-groomer, and I did not ask, but they also did not tell me. 50/50 my fault. I had not read any reviews that they crate the dogs. My pup has huge stranger danger so I was phoned 15 minutes after he was in the crate to come get him. They could not get him out of the crate once he was in. He was shaking all day once I got him home. The staff offered me a slot where he could come first apt and not have to be crated. This may work, but my pup was pretty traumatized after being crated. My suggestion to the dog owners- do your research and if you do not want a kennel groomer you need to ask. My suggestion to the business- inform the client. I did not see the back of the facility when I first arrived so I did not know. There is nothing wrong with this business per say, but you need to be informed. read more
