As always it's a pleasure visiting this store with the wonderful people running it. I no longer take care of pets but I enjoy their company and bring my shopping bags for them to recycle and use in order to bag their products for their customers. Shameless plug. If you have bags, all types, please bring them here. They'd love to recycle them for you. Plus they love seeing different stores I shop at. I shop local so when I do buy for friends who have pets i definitely shop from this cute store. read more

I have a dog and a cat that both have very unique dietary issues. Prior to finding this neighborhood gem, we suffered. The owners helped us figure out what worked for each, which for our cat, took months. They are both very attentive and you can tell that they care about our furry family members. Both our pets are now happy and healthy thanks to Judith and Gwen. This shop is an integral part of the East Denver communities. read more

Judith and Gwen are the absolute best! They always know just what we're looking for and are so kind and sweet!

We LOVE Sherlock!! The only place my fur family and I will ever shop for pet food, treats and toys . They actually care about your animal! Been a patron there for 8 years now! What does that tell ya?! read more

Went in for the first time today and both people working were absolutely fantastic. They had very helpful recommendations, provided various samples, and were diligent with their suggestions and gathering information about our pet to make sure she was properly taken care of. Will certainly be returning and recommending to others in the area. read more

I stopped in this afternoon after I foolishly left my dog's leash at home. She has been waiting for a good walk at the park, so I was hoping to find a leash. The staff inside the store was incredibly friendly, and I was surprised to actually find good prices. This tiny shop is such a good find and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in this area. It really felt like the staff members cared about the other customers and their dogs and that was so neat to see. read more

Great shop! Helpful, caring staff! Always choose local over your big box store. The owners are knowledgeable and friendly and were very kind to my friend during a recent pet emergency. read more

one of the best pet stores ever... they love animals and carry the best brands, give good advice, and are always there if you need help. Can't say enough good things about them! read more

Had a very disconcerting and uncomfortable interaction more than once with Judith regarding my dog client, who is also my friends' dog. Judith would not take "no" for an answer a few times when I declined treats for the dog because the owners explicitly stated no treats due to several digestion issues. Judith also pressed on other issues regarding the owners and dog when I told her to speak with them directly and to not pry for info she didn't need. I had originally planned to buy food from this small business, but after the two encounters/communications I will stay away. A business should respect a pet parent or pet guardian's boundaries and answers and not push the limits. read more

This is the type of neighborhood business we should all support. The owners are very knowledgeable and committed to the health and happiness of their patrons. The kindness they have shown the poor little dog recently attacked nearby is testimony to their character as part of the community. read more

We walked in wanting a little souvenir of some sort to take home to our pups. It's a small store, but the knowledge of the products and the general well being of your dog by the owner is vast! She asked us what kibble we had out dogs on, we said the name thinking she would not be familiar with the brand (because it's a small batch, local WI brand) but she knew about the manufacturing facility and that it was a premium dog food brand. Amazing! She also had a wealth of information regarding holistic care for our cancer diagnosed dog. We were so glad we stopped here. I loved how aware she was of her products, for example, she does not carry any rawhide products because they are like glue in your dog's intestines, bad, bad, bad. You will find pig ears, bully sticks, and fat skins for your dog. There are Denver flag inspired dog harnesses, collars, and leashes. Stop in here after eating next door at Kitchen Table Cafe or make a special trip here for your dogs back home! read more

I was desperate! The cat food that my 19 year old cat loves was being discontinued. I called numerous stores in CO, KS and New Mexico and no one had the food or expressed any interest in helping me. I emailed the manufacturer twice, no response. Those of you who know cats, know that they are very particular and I honestly did not know what I was going to do. This lovely store was on the list of stores that carries the food and they jumped into action and found the food for me online. I am incredibly grateful and awed at the customer service! Thank you so much Sherlock Hound!!! read more

I don't normally go onto yelp to right reviews, unless the place is totally awesome. I feel like most people use it to complain so they can get something for free. I'm here to tell you this is hands down the best pet food store I've ever been in! It has that local small town feel. Judith and Gwen smile when you walk in and chat with you about your day. I can't tell you how generous they are with their products. If I waited until the last minute to get my food (which has happened more than once), and the order isn't in yet, they have just given me dog food so my pups aren't lacking until my order comes in. Which is usually a only day or two. They are knowledgeable about CBD oils for pups with high anxiety. I buy Canidae, they have a rewards program! I literally just got a free 44lb bag of food. Where else can you get that?! No big chain stores are going to do that for you. I actually moved to Arvada, but still come to Denver to buy food from them. It's 100% worth the drive when you've basically got friends at Sherlock Hound who truly care about your experience and your pets. If you're looking for a forever pet food store home, go see them!!! read more

Nothing less than 5 stars! They helped my two kitties make an easy switch from friskies that they would throw up to a chicken and grain blend they love. Plus the CBD they have helped my newer cat adjust once I adopted her! read more

My gal and I just adopted a pup (named Finn) and heard about Judith at Sherlock Hound. Couldn't be happier, I actually regretted going to one of those big box pet stores the moment we walked in. Sure if you spend $20 there, you could probably get the same items at Petsmart for $19 but they won't care about you or your dog. Judith cares about her furry customers, will work with you to get the right food for the dog and isn't a 19 year old kid on summer break. + its local, support local business! I tell everyone with a pouch about this place! read more

Creepy creepy shop with an extremely limited selection. I walked out 10 seconds after waking in.

This is by far my favorite pet shop. The owners are incredibly kind, and my dog loves them so much that he tries to take a left turn instead of a right when we are headed home from our walks. The dog knows best :) read more

I moved here to Denver just a few months ago and needed a special dog food for my 15-year-old sheepdog. I asked around at a few stores and they didn't have it or couldn't order it. When I called Judith, she was right on it, making a special order for me, and then she called me when it came in. When I needed to reorder, we did it all by voicemail and text and trust. Judith is the epitome of great customer service. I couldn't ask for anyone better! read more

Love the personal service and great advice. Since we adopted a breed I'm not familiar with, it's been great to have someone who is generous and has a great background! We compared the price of the food we use, and it's cheaper at Sherlock Hound, and we can buy in smaller quantities. read more

Our dog was getting ill and we took her to a regular veterinary clinic and they said she had kidney failure after analyzing bloodwork and they were ready to put her down without wasting much time at all. Judith is a friend of ours and we told her about it and she said don't give up on our little doggie yet there may be some hope. She got our little dog started on a specialized diet and herbal and holistic remedies and now Bella is doing fine. We are about ready to do more bloodwork in another week or so and see how much this may have brought her toxic levels down. By the way little Bella is reacting, we think she's going to pull through just fine. She seems to be about 75 to 85% herself so far. Her quality of life is almost normal now. Thank you Judith for helping Bella! read more

Judith of Sherlock Hound must be the most knowledgeable and caring proprietress I have met in a long time. My husband and I recently took into our hearts and home a 12 year old kelpie mix who had been surrendered. She had not eaten healthily in many years. With Judith's help and guidance, our girl is strong and healthy and most likely live many more years. Thank you, Judith. You're not just a great purveyor of fine pet food, you are a great friend and mentor. I recommend Sherlock Hound enthusiastically to anyone who wants to do the best for their pet. read more

I love to come to this little store! Gwen and Judith are both amazing and kind and will take time to talk to you (about more than just your dog and the products they want you to buy) which is great! They seem to truly care about their customers and will always go out of the way for them! I haven't ever had to have things ordered but I always hear them offer to other customers letting them know that it's something they'll do for them! read more

Judith at Sherlock Hound has been so good to me, helping address the specific needs of my elderly dog. The results have been amazing. Her suggestions have improved my dog's health dramatically because she takes everything I have told her into consideration and has such a positive outlook on the good quality of life she believes my old pup can still enjoy. If all small businesses cared for their customers as well as Judith cares for hers, we would ALL leave the chains and the vet-centered options behind. read more

I can not say enough good things about Judith @ Sherlock Hound. I wanted to explore a different brand of dogfood for a number of reasons, mainly itchy skin. I also felt I should shop local. I was inquiring about Taste of the Wild dogfood. She asked me what my goals were, and what age and breed and weight of dogs I was feeding. She didn't just sell me what I thought I needed. She used her expertise and took a lot of time uncovering my dogs needs and recommending the right mix of products based on those needs. She has a fantastic personality and is always willing to offer suggestions about anything dog-related! Check her out! And when you do tell Bob the beagle hello for me! read more

This is a terrific pet store!! Judith is the reason why this is my new favorite locale in my neighborhood: +Great selection of healthy food & treats +Judith creates a custom mix specific to my dog's needs & age +Home delivery is a great option. Arrived home from a long camping trip & there was Taylor's dinner on the porch. +She is also excellent with nail trimming with my skittish dog, her use of the dremel tool is much less stressful for Taylor +After Taylor tangled with a barbed wire fence, she even evaluated his healing wound. Can't say enough about Sherlock Hound Stop by and see for your self!! Laura & Taylor read more

We are truly blessed to have found Judith. Our lab, Harley, had a tough time digesting the food we were feeding him. He was gassy and his coat was dull and flaky. We searched online and found Judith. We emailed with her and described what the trouble was. She gave us some advice and asked if we would bring him in so she could look at him. She assessed his behavior, breath, coat, and activity level. He also has arthritis. She recommended some food and provided us samples so we can see how he did with it. She did all this without charge. Over two years later Harley is in great shape. His coat is shiny; he feels great and has more energy than he's had in the past. I would not buy his food from anyone else. She knows more about dogs than most vets I've met, and she does a great job. If you want someone who really cares about your dog helping you pick the right food, stop your search and go see Judith. read more

The funny store name reeled us in after a nice lunch from the cafe next door. It is full of interesting doggie treats such as duck feet, kangaroo sticks and pig snouts. I ended up purchasing one of the cute frosted cookies and the cow ears for my dogs. They loved it! The owner was extremely nice and even threw in a few complimentary treats, and gave us ideas for hiking, since we were in town for vacation. Definitely go in and get your dog something yummy! read more

My dog loves this place. She drags me to the doorstop every morning even though they are not open. They truly love dogs in here and are super knowledgeable. They are one of my favorite resources around and they carry really great products. When my pup lost her tags, they helped me order some other ones even though they didn't sell them themselves. They are working with me on my dog's food choice as I try to figure out whether she has food allergies or environmental issues. read more
