I have a dog and a cat that both have very unique dietary issues. Prior to finding this neighborhood gem, we suffered. The owners helped us figure out what worked for each, which for our cat, took months. They are both very attentive and you can tell that they care about our furry family members. I stopped in this afternoon after I foolishly left my dog's leash at home. She has been waiting for a good walk at the park, so I was hoping to find a leash. The staff inside the store was incredibly friendly, and I was surprised to actually find good prices. This tiny shop is such a good find and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in this area. Had a very disconcerting and uncomfortable interaction more than once with Judith regarding my dog client, who is also my friends' dog. Judith would not take "no" for an answer a few times when I declined treats for the dog because the owners explicitly stated no treats due to several digestion issues. Judith also pressed on other issues regarding the owners and dog when I told her to speak with them directly and to not pry for info she didn't need. I had originally planned to buy food from this small business, but after the two encounters/communications I will stay away. A business should respect a pet parent or pet guardian's boundaries and answers and not push the limits. read more

We walked in wanting a little souvenir of some sort to take home to our pups. It's a small store, but the knowledge of the products and the general well being of your dog by the owner is vast! She asked us what kibble we had out dogs on, we said the name thinking she would not be familiar with the brand (because it's a small batch, local WI brand) but she knew about the manufacturing facility and that it was a premium dog food brand. Amazing! She also had a wealth of information regarding holistic care for our cancer diagnosed dog. We were so glad we stopped here. I loved how aware she was of her products, for example, she does not carry any rawhide products because they are like glue in your dog's intestines, bad, bad, bad. You will find pig ears, bully sticks, and fat skins for your dog.There are Denver flag inspired dog harnesses, collars, and leashes. I was desperate! The cat food that my 19 year old cat loves was being discontinued. I called numerous stores in CO, KS and New Mexico and no one had the food or expressed any interest in helping me. I emailed the manufacturer twice, no response. Those of you who know cats, know that they are very particular and I honestly did not know what I was going to do. I don't normally go onto yelp to right reviews, unless the place is totally awesome. I feel like most people use it to complain so they can get something for free. I'm here to tell you this is hands down the best pet food store I've ever been in! It has that local small town feel. Judith and Gwen smile when you walk in and chat with you about your day. I can't tell you how generous they are with their products. If I waited until the last minute to get my food (which has happened more than once), and the order isn't in yet, they have just given me dog food so my pups aren't lacking until my order comes in. Which is usually a only day or two. They are knowledgeable about CBD oils for pups with high anxiety. I buy Canidae, they have a rewards program! I literally just got a free 44lb bag of food. Where else can you get that?! No big chain stores are going to do that for you. I actually moved to Arvada, but still come to Denver to buy food from them. It's 100% worth the drive when you've basically got friends at Sherlock Hound who truly care about your experience and your pets. Our dog was getting ill and we took her to a regular veterinary clinic and they said she had kidney failure after analyzing bloodwork and they were ready to put her down without wasting much time at all. Judith is a friend of ours and we told her about it and she said don't give up on our little doggie yet there may be some hope. She got our little dog started on a specialized diet and herbal and holistic remedies and now Bella is doing fine. We are about ready to do more bloodwork in another week or so and see how much this may have brought her toxic levels down. By the way little Bella is reacting, we think she's going to pull through just fine. She seems to be about 75 to 85% herself so far. Her quality of life is almost normal now. We are truly blessed to have found Judith. Our lab, Harley, had a tough time digesting the food we were feeding him. He was gassy and his coat was dull and flaky. We searched online and found Judith. We emailed with her and described what the trouble was. She gave us some advice and asked if we would bring him in so she could look at him. She assessed his behavior, breath, coat, and activity level. He also has arthritis. She recommended some food and provided us samples so we can see how he did with it. She did all this without charge. Over two years later Harley is in great shape. His coat is shiny; he feels great and has more energy than he's had in the past. I would not buy his food from anyone else. She knows more about dogs than most vets I've met, and she does a great job. The funny store name reeled us in after a nice lunch from the cafe next door. It is full of interesting doggie treats such as duck feet, kangaroo sticks and pig snouts. I ended up purchasing one of the cute frosted cookies and the cow ears for my dogs. They loved it! The owner was extremely nice and even threw in a few complimentary treats, and gave us ideas for hiking, since we were in town for vacation.
