My dog Ghost has been coming here for close to 7 years. July 4th weekend I was dropping him off for boarding for a few days. A new front desk girl who I have never seen before and had just been hired from what the other employees told me was trying to put a collar on him and he did nip at her. I apologized to her and some other employees came out and Ghost was pleasant with them. I picked him up after the weekend and apologized again and they said these things happen, but as a dog owner I wanted to make clear that this has never happened before. He's been going to City Bark Lodo for 7 years, gets his grooming there, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. A week goes by and today July 13th, I get a call from Jonathan stating Ghost is no longer welcome. I find it a little unsettling that after a single incident he's no longer allowed to go there. I know what he did was wrong I'm not discouraging that. Why he did that I have no idea but has never had an issue with anyone else. As most dog owners know for a dog to go somewhere for 7 years then to try and find a new place for them is unsettling as they are used to the environment and atmosphere. If this was a reoccurring thing I'd understand, but after one incident and 7 years of being a loyal customer to them I'm told nothing they can do. Spent thousands of dollars over these years and the way they just dispose of us from coming back is not how I expected them to handle this. read more

I am still in shock over our first (and certainly last) experience with City Bark Lodo. We brought our two dogs in for an evaluation a few months ago, and they seemed to enjoy the visit (hence two stars instead of one). However, when my husband went in to pick our dogs up, he was given the wrong black lab not once, not twice, but THREE times. After the first two mix-ups (and with a cranky toddler melting down), he was so relieved and eager to get home that he didn't realize the third lab was STILL not our dog. While they look very similar, our lab is male. We got all the way home with a female black lab of similar age and markings. Understandably furious, my husband called to alert the team and ensure our dog was still there. The staff member on the phone admitted realizing the third dog was female, and said, "that's why we didn't bring her out the first time." I understand you would expect an owner to correctly identify their dog, but why on earth would you knowingly let the wrong dog leave the premises? I am flabbergasted. By way of explanation, staff said they had five different black labs in their care that day. Why would you remove their collars if you find them that hard to tell apart??? I sincerely hope new practices will be put in place to prevent this from ever happening again. I also hope City Bark will inform the family of the sweet girl who accidentally visited our home about what happened. What a wild and inexcusable experience. read more

I like this place! My friend's dogs have been going here for some time now and they are always so good at making sure the dogs are well taken care of. They have a swimming pool for the summer and lots of play space, both indoors and outdoors. I have been taking all of the dogs I dog sit here often so it was the first choice when I got my own pup, Ziggy. I will say, they struggled to be inviting and warm for a bit there at the front desk, but they have a new manager who is so friendly and nice, which I think will help them in that area. They have webcams which is nice, you can check in on your pup throughout the day. Centrally located which is nice and they are open a full day until 8pm. So you can drop your pup off and get a lot done! read more

I booked my dogs evaluation the night before and had called TWICE to confirm he would be good to be dropped off the next morning. He got his approval email and when I showed up in the morning we were turned away. Front desk was SO rude didn't care at all that they just screwed up. Lady at the front desk only said "not sure why he was approved, he shouldn't have been but we aren't taking evulations today so we can't take him"....lack of communication in this place is insane, I was heading to the mountains and live 30 mins away and left me scrambling to figure out what to with my dog. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING TO THE LODO LOCATION!!!! The CityBark on 8th in Denver is a million times better, took my dog last min because of LODO's mistake and the staff was so kind. Not to mention this has happened to me and personally know two other friends who have had this happen to them at this location. read more

I'm sad to write this, because our dog loved coming here. But we had an incident a few days ago where a friend who doesn't know our dog too well came to pick him up as a favor to us, and she was given the wrong dog who looked very similar. About 20 minutes later City Bark realized and called us, at which point an unfamiliar dog had been brought back and left in our house (probably confused and terrified). We still aren't sure of the entire situation because after setting a time to talk to the manager, we were completely ghosted with no call and no response to our follow up texts. We also don't know if the owners of the other dog were notified. We understand that mistakes can happen, but the fact that there has been no follow up and no response to talk to us about this is incredibly concerning. You have one job - to take care of these dogs and then return them safely to their correct owner. read more

They've had a lot of turnover on the staff over the last few months. We used to love bringing our dog here because the team loved seeing her and always knew when she was scheduled for boarding or a play day. Not sure what's going on, but most of those people (if not all of them) are no longer there. We had to do daycare two days in a row a couple of weeks ago, and on the first day, they only had one person managing all of the intakes when they opened (6:30 a.m.). It took 30 minutes to get our dog checked in for the day. The second day, no one was there when they were supposed to be open. We and seven others made rounds around the building to see if anyone was there, and it was empty. While not usually an issue, we've been told that they ALWAYS have someone on staff at the building, including overnight, in case of emergency. The fact that no one was at the building when they were supposed to open was a huge red flag for us, considering how much we usually board our dog overnight when we travel for work. We've stopped using this location during the day and have switched to someone dropping by our house through Rover for play days. For boarding... we're considering new places. I hope they figure out their staff issues soon. read more

*UPDATE: DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!! In response to the owners response, I've tried calling and texting with no answer. I took my dog to the vet yesterday and they told me he has kennel cough and stress colitis. I can't even get through to the owner to discuss this! This place is irresponsible and unsanitary. I'd give them less than one star if I could!! Pretty expensive when you have to pay a boarding and vet fee.... AVOID. Brought my dog here for 6 nights. I called 2 days in to ask if he was eating because I know sometimes he doesn't finish his kibble. The employee I spoke with said he ate "some but not all" of his food. I asked them to mix wet food into his kibble so he'd eat. Fast forward to me picking him up... my dog has clearly lost a lot of weight. It's very noticeable. I'm extremely upset the employees never called me and told me he wasn't eating because it's very clear he wasn't eating much, if at all. I understand there's an element of emotional stress for a dog being in a new environment, but if the employees were being responsible they'd at least let me know. Also, a couple other things I wasn't too happy with. Two of the days I paid for the gold play package and one day they forgot to send me a pic of him which is a large part of that package (they were kind and comped me for that day when i told them they had forgotten, but still shows some disorganization). The rooms they are kept in are quite small. Not sure if this is normal for daycare/boarding, but the employees seem to barely play with the dogs (you can see on the cameras they sit around most of the time) Overall, pretty upsetting and disappointing and will not be bringing my dog back here. read more

I use them for grooming services and they are really expensive. Also, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to furminate a husky but for some reason they did that when I specifically just asked for de-shedding shampoo. I have a 55 lb husky I pay $140 with tip for just a bath. They charged another $35 for a furminator service which I didn't even ask for?? I live across the street from them and I am still unlikely to return give the price and my concerns about the furminator. read more

Bottom line: They didn't feed my dog breakfast lunch or dinner, they constantly tell me they almost gave away my dog bc she looks so much like the others and I just got her back with piss all over her matted down. She 100% was left to sit in her own piss for a long period of time. When I complained I was refunded so I didn't do 1 star, but I would have!!! For the company: you keep hiring new employees and not taking the time to train them properly. I swear I have been having a lot of negative experiences lately here when I always used to feel like I was dropping her off somewhere safe where I knew she would have fun. In response to the business's comment below - My feedback was generic and not customer specific. Nothing to be discussed, just do the right thing and open the pool for our dogs as advertised/promised! It's deceitful to use your pool facility as a bait when you have no intention of providing this service. The only difference between you and Camp Bow Wow across the street is the pool. We will surely bring our business to them. At least they didn't lie to us. Not sure if the business owner knows about this. It seems like the staffs made the decision not to ever open the pool for our dogs. It's more work for them, I understand. But for the ethical sake, don't promise what you can't deliver. read more

Few reasons for the negative review, if you care about your pup I'd think twice. 1. We watched the cameras and he wasn't out during designated play times 2. He can back sneezing took him to vet and he has a nasal infection 3. Facilities were gross, heavy smell of urine and seemed very unsanitary 4. We came back on time for pick up no one was around and made us extend another day for pick up charging a full extra day 5. Our dogs personality is very off, and he seems very timid unlike himself 6. Paid for a bath and they must have put him back in his cage soaking wet because he came back with various mats through his coat. I would avoid at all costs. read more

Really really wanted to like this place. The employees are very very nice and my dogs seemed to have had a great time during their evaluation. What got me though is the second I stepped into the lobby it absolutely WREAKED like urine. I am a dog groomer and actually worked in a doggie daycare prior to learning to groom... so I know it's just lack of cleaning and care. I tried to get past it seeing how nice everyone was and how much fun my dogs had... but cleanliness is a huge part of working with animals. If the lobby is that bad, I can only imagine what the daycare/boarding areas are like. Can't be good for your animal to be surrounded in such filth. Hopefully that's something they can change... it would probably make a lot of people (including myself) absolutely love City Bark. read more

We should've known something was up when during the required evaluation, they spent 8 minutes walking our pup around to make sure he was safe and comfortable. (Camp BowBow required 3 hours for the same evaluation.) The drop off was easy. We left our pup 3 cups of food, and explained he is on a vet prescribed feeding schedule. The attendant assured us they could accommodate his needs, and that if anything came up, they would call. We heard nothing in the interim. When we arrived the next afternoon, we were handed the same amount of food, and found notes in the system that the food had run out and that they had called us. To be clear, after not receiving a call, we returned to find our dog hadn't been fed for over 24hrs. They couldn't say whether he had even been given water. The team seemed kind enough, but with that kind of disorganization and poor hospitality, it's needless to say we'll not be using their services again. read more

We love City Bark LoDo! My dog and I just moved to Denver a few weeks ago. She is majorly struggling with separation anxiety, which I learned the hard way when I left her for my first day of work and came home to some very annoyed neighbors. City Bark stuck out to me because their facilities looked so fun and the reviews sounded great. I was blown away by the kindness and patience of the management team as I asked 100000 questions on the phone and in person. Katherine was wonderful and reassuring. Miguel is so caring. I picked up my dog at a very busy time and he saw each owner and knew the names of their dogs without asking. You can tell they love their jobs and genuinely care about the people and their furbabies! The webcams are also a huge perk! My whole family back home in the Midwest will look for her on the webcams. They all miss her more than me ;) Oh and I got her groomed there today for the first time. She had sap stuck in her fur and they got it all out. Now she's super soft and smells wonderful. I've taken my dog here for the past 2.5 years. Every person I've encountered appears to truly love dogs and care about the success and happiness of your dog at their facility. I've heard them provide feedback and tips to owners on how to help dogs be more successful in that type of setting as well as share love and praise for how a dog did that day. I used them for daycare primarily but also had my dog stay there for a longer weekend when I was out of town. Anytime I've asked questions (which is a lot) they are patient and thorough with all of their answers. I would highly recommend them. read more

I used to LOVE city bark (for two years) but recently have had experiences that are leading me to look else where. Once when I was out of town I checked in on the camera and saw my pup isolated alone in a room. I called to check in (assuming there was a logical reason). I was told she bit someone, which is extremely out of character. I took their word for it but asked what happened and no-one could tell me. I told them I wanted to know details, not because I didnt believe them but so that I could avoid that happening again there or when we are out and about. No-one could ever tell me what happened. They also told me they would be changing rooms in 30 mins and would update me when that happened on how it went. Two hours later, with pee and poop on the floor no-one ever came to clean up, she was moved to another room but I never heard from city bark (only knew because of the cameras). I have heard a similar story from my neighbors who just left city bark as well. Disappointed as I never worried before that I wasn't getting what I paid for but now id rather just pay for someone to stay at my house then for city bark to put her in a room alone. read more

Have had numerous great experiences using City Bark's boarding and daycare. My dog loves it here! However, I recently took my dog here to get groomed and cannot say the same. I took him back to his normal groomer to fix it and they were appalled at the state he was in. I would recommend city bark for everything besides grooming for your dog. read more

This review is ONLY based on the grooming service we got for our dog. I know nothing about the boarding etc. I just wanted to warn other dog owners not to take their dogs to get their nails clipped here! A sketchy lady took us into a back room with a hot water heater in it, it looked like a scary movie with dim lighting and a lone metal table sitting in the middle of the room. The woman instructed us to lift our (50lb) dog onto the table and hold her while she clipped her nails. Well, the woman cut my dogs quick on at least 6 of her nails, and my dog reacted by yelping and crying and lunging. the woman made us hold our dog down while she finished "trimming" her nails. All the while she was yelling at our dog telling her she was bad for yelping. 1. I have never had to take part in clipping my dogs nails when she had gone to get groomed. 2. It HURTS when dogs have the quick cut, she was bleeding from multiple nails afterwards. 3. The woman was rude to us, and not friendly with our terrified dog. 4. She didn't even clip her dew claws (which I ended up doing myself at home). So like I said before, do not go here for grooming. read more

My dog recently started going here and within a few weeks got kennel cough. She previously went to a different daycare and never got sick. She is up to date on all her vaccines. Also, at her previous day care she was always so excited to go and ran right in. However at City Bark she is very hesitant to go inside. I am disappointed as this is supposed to be an award winning place and it is very expensive, however we have had a consistent sub-par experience. We were not impressed by this place to begin with and after my dog getting sick from this place we will most likely discontinue going. read more

Nobody loves your little furry friend more than you... except for these fine folks here at City Bark Lodo! I started taking my little girl here when she was just a puppy. She was born deaf and I am big papa bear overly protective of her! They treat her like their own! She gets excited when she sees we are driving there and always has a big lick for all the employees. Bonus points that they don't only know us both by name, if they see my truck pull into the parking lot they are usually waiting at the door for us. We moved to a different part of town so we don't make it here often these days... the worst part about that is, although our new place is adequate, they don't come close to the experience here. I used to feel good about leaving my dog here, but that has changed. The lobby has overwhelmingly smelled like urine my last few visits. I can only imagine how filthy the rest of the building is. I've never experienced that at a doggy daycare before, and I've been to many. The last time I picked up my dog, I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes with another customer waiting for someone to come from the back to help us. We knocked on the doors and called the main line (no answer) to let them know we were there. And the worst part was my dog's behavior when they finally brought him to me. He was totally out of sorts. He also had a fresh cut on his leg that none of the staff appeared to notice. As far as I can tell, the place is being run by kids now, and it shows. read more

I think my puppy liked it ok, but she picked up kennel cough from one of her visits there. I understand that can happen, but it's still frustrating, as that meant a vet visit ($$), time away from other dogs, and fewer daycare options for a few weeks until she recovered. Also, their communication is not great. They suggest you text them since they are often not at the desk to answer the phone. That would be fine if they responded to texts, but they don't always do that either. During my puppy's first few visits, I texted asking how she was doing, as I was nervous with her being new to daycare and being around that many dogs at once. They either only responded after a follow up or didn't respond at all. Same issue with booking. You can't book same day appointments online, so a few times I texted asking if I could bring her in that afternoon, and I never received a response, even with a follow up. Keep in mind, they told me you could text to make an appointment. It's frustrating to not be able to get through to anyone to book a daycare appointment when you can't do it online. Sometimes, things come up last minute and you can't always book in advance. You also can't tour the facilities, which seems odd, and the lobby entrance smells pretty bad. I get there are numerous dogs on site, but it makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the rest of the facilities. The lack of communication and other issues I mentioned are enough for me to go elsewhere. read more

I never even made it in. I called to reserve boarding here and was told "no problem. We have plenty of room. Just bring your dogs in Thursday for an introduction." So I took time off work and we headed in Thursday, as instructed, and I was told they no longer had room. 2 days before our vacation. They told me we were good to go in the phone Monday. When I arrived Thursday, I didn't have a reservation at all. And the staff was rude about it. Won't be trying again. read more

I hate to give this place away since i never have to make a reservation for phillip to go play, but it is a fabulous location for the kids! This is where i bring phillip when he's feeling needy. Originally we would go here just to get the special allergy type food for him, but when his brother passed away we started bringing him here once a week. They know him by name when he walks in and always give me an update when it's time for him to go home! The staff here is great! They love animals!! They seperate the dogs by "type". Meaning the older dogs hang out, the smaller dogs hang out, the BIG dogs have their own group etc etc etc. Whatever works. There is a time out kennel that they get put in, if they don't follow the rules. Just like real kiddy day care!! There are all kinds of play areas to keep phillip occupied! There is a mountain with tunnels and windows and places to play! There is a pool area that they get to play in during the warm days! Since phillip is on there older side they are willing to give him 2 naps a day! I love this place and I'm pretty sure phillip does too! read more

I've been taking my dog here every Wednesday for over a year. This place is a virtual doggy funhouse featuring a swimming pool, underground tunnels for a great game of chase, and playground equipment. This communal environment is high on hygiene and the facility is bleached down daily. City Bark LoDo is as modern, functional, and clean as a doggy daycare can get. One of the best features for the protective pet lover is the camera system in every play area and allows dog owners to monitor their furry family members on-line from the comfort of their desk. Unfortunately, the resolution is low and the images come across in discontinuous delayed blips. The grooming service is fantastic with the ultimate in convenience. Drop off your dirty dog for a play date in the morning and pick it up sparkling clean and pooped out in the evening. You can do this at the Kalamath location but currently the grooming position at LoDo is available. * A short note about why I prefer the LoDo location. City Bark LoDo has only been open for about two years now which translates into new. The facility is bigger, cleaner, and shows much less wear and tear. Also, although LoDo has continuously been building up clientele I have never encountered a day where it is sold out which is a frequent occurrence at its smaller counterpart. * One more comment. Watch out for the speed traps. This is the favorite fishing pond for police wielding radar guns. They stand in the middle of the street like it is still the Wild West and shoot you down for going 35 in a 30. This can make doggie daycare a depressing experience. There is a pretty consistent turnover in the staff which can be expected of any grueling, low paying, part time job. The endless barking and bathroom breaks can entice even the most entrenched dog lover to seek other forms of employment. There are a few die hard staff members that will give your dog pet names and offer pleasing conversation about your dog's daily activities. Doggy introductions are a requirement for newcomers so don't expect to drop off your pooch and run to the office on the first visit. All dogs must be fixed with verification of up to date vaccinations which should only be a natural assumption. There is a minimum age limit for puppies and avoid taking your senior dog here because the lack of personal space and frenzied energy creates highly stressful situation for the elderly. Also, I suggest keeping your doggy daycare excursions to a bi-weekly event because there is a natural tendency for dogs to become territorial and get their grump on when they are too frequent of visitors. Boarding services are available and I highly recommend them because your canine will spend the night in the safety of the caged sleeping quarters and get to run and play all day long. For the furry elite, suites are available with spacious, colorfully painted rooms and flat screen TVs that play canine adventures and comedies. This feature is a little too high society for my precious mutt but an appealing alternative for those who like to splurge. In the closing of my commentary I must say that I have the highest regard the City Bark LoDo's operation and I trust them completely with my favorite furry friend. Every Wednesday I feel that familiar pull that most mothers must experience when dropping their kids off at kindergarten but I can pry myself away with the knowledge that my darling dog is in good hands. In my opinion trust is the highest rating a business in this vein can achieve. read more

So awesome! Let me just say, as many dog parents say, my dogs are like kids to me. Both of our Coon hounds are from DDFL & they are so sweet and wonderful...to us. Bella is our black & tan Coon hound. I honestly don't think anyone else would have adopted her. We have had her for three years now, and, she never really stops baying. Okay, when she sleeps, yes. When she is preoccupied with her Kong (the indestructible kind) she whines mildly. And I would say she is generally quiet around the house as long as someone isn't going through the dumpster or begging for treats. But, I know how she is, loud and pushy. She must let the world know that she exists, that she has found something, or that she knows you are there (ie strangers in the ally). Bones has been with us for almost a year. She has had a bit of a long adjustment to our family. Bones does not get aggressive with Bella anymore, but this was a big fear when taking her to daycare. My first impression on our interview day was, they seem nice. Tiffany (the person showing us around and giving our dogs the interview) did not seem put off by Bella's baying, but all of the staff is young. After reading the reviews and the pleasantness of the staff and quality of the facility, I was confident all would be well. When we got home, my husband started worrying Bella would be in time out all day or they would not like her--like most parents worry. When I went to pick up my girls for the first time today, they said Bella had been pretty vocal all day. My thoughts were racing--OMG, they hate me, they've been mean to her, she has been in the bummer box all day, the other dogs hate her.....But they seemed genuine and not the least bit irritated--all they said was, most of the other dogs just tuned her out and as I had expected she was very vocal. They were extremely friendly. When I dropped them off and picked them up, the staff could not have been nicer, more professional, more positive and helpful. I absolutely recommend City Bark Lodo. My girls are now sound asleep--I know they will read this and think "She Sleeps?!?" But I could not thank them enough for EVERYTHING. read more

We love these guys! We had left over days we paid for before our bubba Phillip passed away and decided to use them for our new flying Monkies Paco and Winston. By the end of the first day they remembered their names, and even though we only come in once a week, they great the boys by name. They're super awesome folks, and clearly really care about dogs. My only complaint is their "watch your dog on the internet" thing is PC only. That might be a plus really since I'd never get any work done if I could see the boys running around being nuts. read more

I'm extremely impressed with the LoDo City Bark location. Not only does the webcam monitoring system set my frantic mind at ease- I hate leaving my dog alone with people I don't know for a minute, much less all day- but the extensive introduction process which is mandatory for all new visitors makes me confident that my pup won't be exposed to any unvaccinated hounds or aggressive poodles. The playground equipment is fabulous- my dog's a fetcher, not a climber, so he wasn't terribly interested, but he did love playing catch with a toy in and out of the pool. He looked so silly sopping wet! I loved the underground tunnel system, too- can I stay here and play in it, too? Staff members seemed friendly and happy. I don't know if I'd stay too chipper paid as little as they are. They loved my pup and his obsessive fetching- of course, who wouldn't? read more

We came to City Bark after some concerning issues with U Lucky Dog. As far as daycare goes, CB is definitely expensive, but may be worth the price. Pros: there is a limit on how many dogs one supervisor will watch vs. having one person in a room of 30 dogs. Pool (life vests and all!) is a nice touch even though my dog only drinks the water and won't go in, outdoor mountain playground is a hit, and the staff seems genuinely nice. Everyone seems to know my dogs name which is stand up customer service. Cons: expensive, the place has a seemingly desolate feel to it. I never see other people in the parking lot. The front area could really use a good vacuuming too. (The tumble weeds of dog air blowing around is the first impression you are giving customers.) The indoor play areas are very dark and have zero activity happening besides other dogs standing around. My dog always smells dirty when I get her. We have yet to overnight board our dog which is the real test. Two times U Lucky Dog managed to give our dog horrible respiratory infections (and never mentioned her obvious hacking/choking to us). I look forward to an over night stay with a (hopefully) positive outcome to increase my stars in this review. Bottom Line: Solid place to take your dog where you can feel good (and safe) leaving your pup for the day. Just know it will cost you a little more than the average rate around town. read more

We leave our dog here for all of our weekend getaways and trips out of town. We never have to worry about him! As a 2 year old golden, he has a lot of energy, and this place has become his haven! Between the interactions with other dogs and the water, he sleeps for days when we first pick him up! Highly recommend this place. The customer service here in my opinion is unbelievably outstanding. My dog is an adopted adult dog and was not well socialized when he first came home. He really struggled with daycare initially and the staff was upfront, optimistic, but also realistic that doggy day care may not be the best fit for him. Fast forward a month later and Rupert is now doing great, and his social skills outside of daycare have also drastically improved. They took the time to really ease him in and slowly let him open up. You can tell that every staff member is really in-tune with each individual dog despite their high volume. Strongly recommend them. read more
