This is my go to spot for pet supplies for my Boxer. I took my pup here for puppy lessons when he was a baby and the trainers were very good and it was affordable. The trainer really cared about the pups learning, keeping the big pups and little pups separate, and gave hands on attention to all of them. I order my Boxer's pet food off of Petco.com to get a discount but always stop here for treats, snacks, and toys. The employees are so nice and lovable with the dogs. I love that I can bring my pup in here when we need to stock up. Go to place! I just wish they had more competitive prices! read more

Best groom my Fur Baby has every had. Katie is half German shepherd and half Australian Shepherd. Lots of beautiful hair thick hair that needs lots of brushing. She also was attacked by another dog when she was 10 weeks old. She lost one eye and doesn't see much out of the other eye. Made an appointment last Tuesday, I was told they were booked solid until Saturday feb 29, I said ok they gave me an appointment time of 4:00, I asked isn't that too late in the day for my golden retriever who normally takes about 3-4 hours for a wash,cut, teeth, nails? She told me no problem we have an extra person here on Saturday so all is well. We dropped her off at 4:00, my husband was told it should take about 3, hours. Within 2 hours we got a call that she was done! I said what??? Went to pick her up, what a horrible chop job they did on her hair!!! I'm so angry!! Do yourself and your pet a favor find some place else to groom your dog! They just lost another customer. I'll be returning on Monday to complain to the manager, but it won't make a difference because I often ask why we can't pay for the grooming at the desk where you check in since they have a register im always told it's broken so we have to go stand in line at the front to pay with our squirmy dogs. This was our first time having my dog groomed at Petco and was very pleased with the entire staff. Cookie (my dog) looked so cute and she was clean, haircut and brushed. Took pictures of the before and after look and I will be using this service from now on. Also, the girls in the store were also very helpful as we have move from Nevada to here and my dog is not use to the thunder (she was very scared) so they recommended the thunder shirt for her and we will be trying it this weekend. The only reason I am giving this place one star is because it won't allow me to do zero stars. My son wanted a hamster so I went into this Petco location asking them what are the necessities and what all I should buy for the hamster. I was helped by Connor, another girl and a guy who suggested I get a fish tank for the hamster to give it more room because the hamsters like having more room. Of course with this being my first time I listened because one of the associates said their hamster was in a fish tank. I was also advised to buy a particular wheel because it was completely silent and I wouldn't hear it at night, the girl said she never hears hers running in the wheel which is a complete lie. I can beat the wheel VERY LOUD AND CLEAR everyone the hamster runs in it. When I asked them about a water bottle I was told to buy this metal holder with the bottle which of course left it bulky and halfway out of the cage. The hamster found a way to climb between the hole due to the bulky water bottle they convinced me to buy and said would be best, went into my bathroom and chewed up my wall down to the dry way. When I called the store associate said she to COVID-19 they aren't taking returns and to just give it away to another family. Now I had to pay for someone to fix the wall in my home and Petco is of no assistance for the backwards products they sold me to house this hamster. I'll definitely never shop here again and for the future if you plan on going please do research on what you need before asking the young store associates read more

I visited the Veterinarian at this location and unfortunately had a horrible experience. None of the vets made an effort to pet my dog and make her feel at ease before giving her a vaccine. I am used to someone giving her a treat and getting down to eye level to pet her but they did not do this. She was very uncomfortable and pooed in the waiting room. This behavior is not common for my dog. Due to my dog growling they would not meet with me in person to discuss her issues and they did not do a proper exam even after asking me to put a muzzle on her myself. I discovered her ear infection and asked them about it, they had no idea she had one. They then recommended calming medications due to my dog growling and getting upset when they brought her to the back to get her shot. They called me to discuss all of this and would not even meet in the room with me because of her growling. I have never had issues with my dog Cali once at any Vet, dog park, or social gathering. If they had done what most vets have before and pet her and given her a treat or just showed her some love I think she would have been much more comfortable. I am honestly still in shock that they tried to get me to buy calming medicine for my dog and refused to come talk to me in person about her check up. I would sadly not recommend this vet because of this humiliating experience. read more

I took Kahuna in to have his nails trimmed, ears cleaned and be professionally bathed and brushed for the first time since adoption last week. Kahuna is 4-5 years old, has had several owners and fosters, and his first home allowed him to be an indoor/outdoor cat. We all know cats clean themselves and that water is a cat's archenemy but from time to time they do need a good scrub down just like our dogs do, so when I found out that Petco in Allen off McDermott & 75 has a new cat bathing, grooming, and shaving program I knew I had to try it out. I can tell you cats aren't the easiest creature on the planet to bathe from personal experience. The last time I made the mistake of attempting to bathe a cat by myself was back in college and I ignorantly thought I could get into the tub holding the cat... which resulted in every claw being implanted into my chest like a reverse backpack that wasn't going anywhere. Never again I said. The cool thing about Petco's technique is they put this small helmet over the cat's head to keep water out of their ears and eyes, keep the cat relaxed with limited field of vision and keep the groomers safe from any stressed lions. The grooming team was very nice, was able to see me same day and assured me they would take great care of him. Paige delivered on her promise and Kahuna did NOT come home traumatized for life like I feared with all the changes he's faced recently. Instead he smelt like he slept overnight in a lavender field and looked like a handsome prize-winning panther. Thank you to the groomers who worked as a team to get him looking his best. Kahuna has already asked when we can book again. I highly recommend this grooming academy! read more

My boyfriend and I had been going to petsmart for months (amateur fish parents), and decided to try out Petco to see if they would have more of a selection of fish. The moment we walked in, we instantly knew that we would be coming back. We were greeted by Paul, who assisted us in the selection of new fish for our tank. I had brought up that we have a Dalmation Molly and how she likes to hover by the heater in the tank, and he told us she was pregnant! The workers at Petsmart never told us that! We knew something was off when we saw 2 tiny babies a few days after we originally filled the tank with a few fish. Paul told us everything we needed to know about pregnant Molly's, and how they get very aggressive and sometimes maul the other fish in the tank! He told us it would probably be best to put her up for adoption at their location, since we didn't want any more baby fish. He then aided us in picking out a new shrimp and Cory! Paul again, was amazing and taught me more in a short 20 minutes then I learned the dozens of times we went to petsmart. read more

I have been going to Petco for about 7 months to buy Purina dog food. I took advantage of the rewards program which now for me is the only positive of this company. I had been needing to get my two Australian Shepherds groomed and had seen plenty of dogs in the grooming room throughout many of my visits. I decided to give it a try! Worst experience I have ever had. Upon getting my dogs back home I noticed one of my dogs had scratch marks behind his arms and my other dog had razor burn on his stomach! When I called they apologized and proceeded by asking me to send pictures which I promptly did. I am sorry, but what kind of a company doesn't tell you that they have harmed your family member(s)! They offered me to go back and get aloe vera, that's it. My trust is completely lost for this company. I no longer will buy any products from here OR recommend Petco to anyone else! read more

We moved to Allen from California a few months back and were looking for a groomer for our Havanese. Our dog tends to get anxious when with groomers, in dog care or really anywhere that isn't her home. The staff there were amazing. They took her in, were attentive to her, and even said they'd take their time with her since she seemed nervous. The process took a while, but I would much rather someone take their time with the pup and ensure a positive experience for all involved over the alternative. We've been going back every since, and while she still gets anxious, the staff are consistently affectionate, warm and so, so helpful. read more

Went shopping at this location last Sunday, and found that they had just received a truck. I needed to get a few different items for my rat and dog. The manager of the store Megan was so helpful. She took me by the hand and shopped with me. She was very interested in all of my animals. She went in to great detail when asking questions about how old they were, what food they are on, and if I had plenty of toys to help keep my senior dog Alf active. Megan also took me in to the salon to make an appointment for my baby boy Alf! I will be a customer of this store for as long as Megan is there! Petco you did something great when you hired her on. I have recently been searching for a couple hermit crabs to accompany one I purchased at the mall. I first tried Petsmart, but their crabs had no water, no lid on the tank, and a number of dead crabs (which increased in the few days between visits). I tried Plano Pets, but had no luck their either. At Petco, I found numerous healthy crabs in a clean, heated, humid environment, as well as a very knowledgeable employee, Paul, who had lots of good advice and was very welcoming. Went into this store yesterday to pick up my $65 of monthly pet food. Had a $5 coupon that I had been carrying in my purse, when I pulled it out, it had expired 2 days earlier. I asked the clerk if he would accept it, said he had to ask his manager. Manager came, from 10 feet away said no, and walked off. I would have expected at least an "I'm sorry, but I can't accept that", I don't know who trained her in her customer relatioins, but they failed.
