I've taken my Westie to be groomed here several times. Ashely is terrific and our dog, Sophie, has become comfortable with her. I had an appointment for 9 am yesterday. Adam, the grooming manager, called on Monday to see if I could change the appointment. My schedule wouldn't allow the change. He said, "We're a little overbooked so there may be a wait. Ashely has 4 dogs coming at 8 a.m.". Okay. That seemed like a lot so I asked "How long of a wait." He answered "A couple of hours." So I dropped her off at 8:55 a.m. At 1:30 pm I called. It has now been 4.5 hours! She was still not done. So drove over at 3:00 pm. It had now been 6 hours!! They said she had been bathed but still needed grooming and nails buffed! I demanded they give her to me. They did and said, "We're sorry. No charge for the bath." NO KIDDING!? My poor dog had spend the better part of 6 hours in a small cage. She came home traumatized. Apparently Adam has NO idea how to run a grooming schedule. He admitted that Petco over schedules for profit. That's disgusting. It's unfair to the dogs, the owners, and the poor groomers. I won't be back. I'm going someplace that cares about the dogs and not just the bottom line. read more

Their lack of knowledge of pricing of their products. I go into Petco trying to get my 10g tank at their promotion rate, 50 percent off sale. It even posts Imagatarium and Aqueon tanks. The lady checks me out at full price on rimless and I said their ad says 50% tanks. I go back their to show what likely is the mgr. She kept saying open open open tanks like I did not understand and leave at that.. I will say I have bought countless rimless tanks at 50 percent off. The listing said Imagatarium and Aqueon open tanks..yeah a rimless tank is an open tank hence rimless. I actually bought a rimless yesterday for 50 percent off at same store. Needless to say I passed not getting into an argument on it. Paul one of the fish employee at the store has been super cool so taken back on you got the complete opposite. So I went to another Petco and got a rimless for half off. They even had tags on it showing the price discounted as well as online. You can definitely tell the appearance of that store vs this one how it is ran. The other one is ran nice as this one, well no need to add more commenting this experience. She may had a bad day or what but again this was commenting what happened. If the sale promo did not include rimless, a note should have been on the sign excluding. I could have pulled up the online sales showing Petco was including the rimless tanks as part of the promo but given her demeanor opted to leave and go to another Petco to buy it. read more

Really disappointed. A few months ago I was looking for a new groomer for my dog and decided to try this Petco since it's close by. I called beforehand to make sure they were accepting dogs with hearing impairment and a history of seizures, but that they were under control and my dog is used to being groomed. They assured me it was fine, so I scheduled an appointment. I arrived and checked in and they asked about medical issues and medications, which I disclosed everything. They wrote it down and had me initial and sign paperwork and took her back. They said the paperwork/signature was to ensure if there is a seizure or other medical issue, I consent to them taking her to the in-house vet. The groomer was amazing with my pup and did a great job, so I took her card to ensure we use her every time. She had no issues there and was perfectly well behaved. I came back today for another scheduled appointment, same groomer. I was informed they don't accept dogs with any seizure history and never did. I asked why no one said anything last time after two different conversations about it....I was totally transparent with them and just got a "*shrug* Sorry. Bye." I completely understand policies intended to keep your team safe, but there's some serious issues with training or policy there that aren't being communicated. read more

My family has been coming here since this place opened. First for the dogs, now for the cat, and a recently added bunny! Never have used the grooming services. I can't comment on their practice. I do know the store has new hours posted. The prices of the animal products are in keeping with other chain stores. Took my dog Jade here for a bath today because where we usually go is closed for Covid-19! I was impressed with the speed of the service and my dog looked great when she came back! Don't recommend. I visited on 5/2. Grooming: My Yorkie received a puppy cut and the head was not cut well at all. Uneven, not blended, awkwardly long in certain places. We also found bleeding from being cut with the clippers. Our normal Petco in Richardson is much better. Groomer: Elizabeth. Not sure if she is from this location or the 15th street location. Staff: I had an early grooming appointment and had to manually open and close the automatic entrance door. Considering staff was just hanging out, I would have expected them to open and close the door as is practice for the retail industry. I was also yelled at by the staff to close the door after myself. Other: We were also charged for a spa package but did not say we wanted one and do not remember ever having purchased one in the past. Of course we had the charge removed. read more

Went to have my dog groomed. I needed his nails trimmed and hair cut, when I arrived to pick him after 4 HOURS barely anything was done. Not all of his nails were clipped and his fur looked just as long. Also they are super pricey for no reason. Terrible service, terrible experience. Don't go there for grooming. read more

I always get e- mail discount coupons that expire immediately. Today I went to Petco to purchase a bag of dog food and tried to use my e mailed $10 off coupon. The cashier told me that my coupon had expired on February 29th. After looking closer I noticed that I received the email with the $10 coupon on February 29th and the expiration date on it was the same day,, February 29th. Bad business. read more

It has been nearly 24 hours and he is still in extreme pain and discomfort. I will not be bringing my dog here for grooming any longer. It's been clear over time this store or maybe just the grooming department has a lot of drama, and it's obviously rubbing off on the employees and their demeanor. My dog is timid but incredibly sweet. Sometimes he will just lay down if he is nervous about walking into an unfamiliar area or with an unfamiliar person. The only thing necessary in this situation is having to pick him up (he is only 35 lbs). In the almost 8+ times I have taken him here, no one has ever said anything negative about this. In fact, they have previously commented that it's cute and has made their grooming experience with him easy because he just lays there. For some reason today, it suddenly became an issue. They said they may refuse to groom him in the future and also refused to cut his nails this time because he pulls his paws away (like a normal dog). This is absolutely unacceptable and we will not be returning as I no longer trust any of you with my dog or his well-being. Also, I don't appreciate the level of attitude of the employees to both me and my spouse today regarding our dog. They were nasty, called him stubborn, said that they would refuse to groom him in the future if this is how he acts. I mean, way to be terrible human beings y'all. read more

A demanding groomer (a very large person with a shaved haircut). She appears to believe that she is a veterinarian and if she judges your pet to need veterinarian service, she refuses to accept them for grooming. She sent my son home with one of my dogs saying he needed his rabies vaccination. She was wrong, but too lazy to check. We took him back the next day. She was rude and unwelcoming and went through some other check list, appearing to try and find some problem. I have had 100% positive experiences with the PetCo grooming in Allen, until THIS groomer. Never going back for grooming of either of my dogs, or to buy anything from the Allen Petco store because of this one employee. read more

I have had nothing but negative experiences at the Petco Grooming in McKinney, TX. They tried overcharging me for extra upgrades and services I did not ask for one time. I had to fight to get refunded. The last time I took my senior dog in for a bath and nail dremel, they literally sent me a text within 14 minutes of dropping her off to say she was done. When I questioned this upon picking her up, the groomer said yes, she had her done when I got texted. What the heck? My mobile groomer always took at least 30-40 minutes with her. The groomer complained that my dog was afraid of the dryer and apparently yelped being scared and "that they were busy". She "suggested" I take her to the vet for grooming. My dog is healthy for an older dog. This was never a problem before during grooming, so what changed? I questioned the manager about it , who was supposed to call me back and never did. Neither did Petco customer service. I hope everyone reading this chooses not to use Petco for their grooming services. The groomers have no compassion and are in the wrong line of work. As for the manager and customer service, they both pretty much speak for themselves by no response back to me about how little they care about their customers. read more

Located conveniently at the northwest corner of McDermott and US 75, this store has most of what you need to take care of your pets, if they could only quit moving it around so much. I think the cat food has been in about five different places in the store since it opened. Still, they have a great selection and the store is always clean and well kept. On the bittersweet front, they also have an area with cages holding beautiful cats and kittens waiting to be adopted. They look so sweet and I often have a bit of guilt for not just adopting them all, but we've had five cats during my adult life, all adopted from shelters, so I've done what I can do (including having three beautiful boys at the moment). The location also features grooming services for your pets, and of course, pets on a leash are always welcome in the store. read more

I love Petco because of their 'buy 10, get 1 free' deal on bags of dog food, and when you own three greyhounds you definitely need it. This store is in a really nice strip mall so it makes it easy to swing in and get some other shopping done too without having to move your car. Staff was really nice, and they have some great sales on seasonal dog toys if you shop just after a holiday. I love that this chain is always raising money for adoption organizations and partners with adoption groups to help find forever homes for dogs and cats. MUST READ Today I visited this Petco to get my dog groomed we arrive at the grooming station and there so no one there to greet us or help us out. After waiting a while someone shows up, we tell her our information, and the whole time she was speaking to us with attitude as if we had done something wrong. So we finally settled everything and it's time for our dog peanut to go inside. Mind you he comes from a harsh background so he isn't very open with strangers at first, so he needs a couple minutes to understand his surroundings and people around him like most dogs. So he started to freak out and the lady who was supposed to take him (named Ashley) refused to be aquatinted with our dog because peanut was little scared. She didn't even try to do her JOB she works with pets big and small all day, but she couldn't handle a tiny little Chihuahua. Ashley, this is YOUR JOB you can't just refuse service because you didn't like the owners or because you don't know how to do your job properly. This is not fair she should have put more effort in to her work instead of being petty like a little kid. read more

Usually I have been a fan of this petco for supplies for my dog. I tried their grooming services and they shaved my dog instead of giving it a haircut. It's December and my dog is shivering like crazy. I wish the groomer had been honest and told me they were going to shave her, I would have taken her somewhere else. It's been 24 hours and my dog is incredibly skittish and I think the grommet may have traumatized her during the groom. I won't be using their grooming services again and now will have to switch to chewy to get her sweaters to get through the bulk of winter till her fur grows back. Absolutely the worst experience ever, we brought our dog in to get groomed and we had an appointment scheduled for noon-2 o'clock and just started his grooming now, they said he won't be done until 7:30-7:45 we called around 5 asking when he would be done they said 6:00 and we went up there and now obviously they say 7:30-7:45 terrible service do not recommend anyone go there, they took in dogs that didn't even have appointments but then says the reason it's taking so long is that they took in too many dogs. I had a grooming appointment today for my doodle and it was his first time! he just turned 6 months and is still a puppy. The lady at salon turned him down because she said he was too excited/nervous and that he needed some training before taking him back there. Oh well, I would never again. That just showed how impatient she was with dogs. professional groomers would know how to deal with dogs. It was his first time so of course he was a bit nervous. Right after I got turned away, I called different groomers in allen/plano area to see if they would take my dog as well as talked to a lot of doodle owners and everyone said that should have not happened. People at petco simply did not want to deal with my dog. I come here often as my puppy has wellness plan at the pet vet so it would be great if i can take him there for his spa day! this is disappointing! read more

My partner and I have used Petco from coast to coast for at least the past 10 years. Recently moved from Colleyville to Allen what a unfortunate experience the Allen location has been. The store looks good but all employees seems like zombies and the PetVet area is at best unorganized and they add new meaning to the word slow. We have decided it's better to just go back to City Vet in Colleyville for all future Vet procedures and use Chewy.com for other needs. read more

I was literally the first person at petco today (waiting in the parking lot at 7:40 AM) and the first person to drop off there dog this morning for her 8 AM appointment. I have a miniature schnauzer mix who is very well behaved at the groomers and every other time I have taken her to a petco or any groomers, she's done in about 2-3 hours if it's busy. However, I got there very first today so she could be done quickly and avoid her having to wait in the kennels for a long time (because she abandonment issue from her previous owners). At 11:30 AM, I was told she just got on the table and to give them about an hour till she done. At 12:45 PM, I still had not received a call and called back to make sure everything was ok. They said they were doing finishing touches and reminded me if I am on a time constraint that I need to book during the week (FYI it's Friday). She also said there was an incident in the salon that day and it put everyone else behind. I decided to just head immediately up there and get her right when she was done. When I got there at 1:15 PM SHE WAS STILL ON THE TABLE. Then, they just bring her out with no explanation, no apology, no notes on anything from that day. But they did ask if I wanted to leave a tip.... I understand things happen when you mix so many dogs together, but when you know you were the very first person to drop of your dog and it's been over 5 hours and her nails weren't even buffed I would be a shitty pet owner if I didn't have some concerns. Dogs can't obviously talk and it is the responsibility of the groomers and to keep the owner updated on their dog. To not give apology or a real explanation on why my dog who literally was the first dog there took 5 hours is ridiculous (especially when they said she had been an angel). Also, I would like to keep in mind I was kind and respectful to the groomers when I called and when I picked up my dog. I don't know why me and my dog did not deserve the same. read more

We had questions about a new water filter for our fish tank and he just walked us through that process, invited us to bring a water sample from our tank, and then gave us a detailed regiment to get our tank back in shape. Was apprehensive to use the grooming services for our new shihtzu puppy. However, all my concerns were unfounded. Brandon, the groomer, did a really nice job of trimming our puppy's hairs around his nose area which obstructed his eyes. Despite bad reviews I decided to try this Petco grooming salon just for a bath for our Beagle. Our appointment was for 9:15 with Myca. As we were pulling into the parking lot at 9:11 they called me and said, "the groomer didn't come in so we've canceled your appointment. Would you like to reschedule?" Uh, no. The call was pretty abrupt and definitely too late to have saved me a wasted trip. I can see from the reviews that this particular Petco seems to have problems with both scheduling and competence. Laney the groomer is the worst. I was told when I called at 1:50 that if I got there in the next 15 minutes then my dog could get her haircut. I rushed out the door and got there at 2pm. When I arrived the groomer from the phone told "Laney" that I was here for a cut, and Laney said, "I can't cut her hair. It takes 2-5 hours to cut her hair and we close at 6.". I said, "But it's only 2pm, you have 4 hours?" She said, "Yeah, I just can't do it today." So I left annoyed that I drove and went there just to arrive to a groomer who was not feeling like doing any work that day. I drove a total of 20-30 minutes and rushed just to waste my gas. I'll be going to PetSmart from now on. I wouldn't want to leave my pup with such an unenthusiastic lazy groomer anyway. read more

I cannot comment on their grooming services, as I own cats. However, as a shopping venue (which is all I'd EVER use a box store like this for), it is a pretty good one. They keep moving the sections around, which is very annoying. However, their prices are competitive and just as cheap as anywhere else. The rewards program is worth it just for food and litter. We have 6 cats, so we go through a TON of each - every month it seems. It's a clean store. Service has been average - not super friendly but not rude either. Parking is usually not too much of a problem, unless it's prime Saturday afternoon shopping time when everyone in the world is shopping at the nearby stores, then it can get a little tight. read more

This is my go to spot for pet supplies for my Boxer. I took my pup here for puppy lessons when he was a baby and the trainers were very good and it was affordable. The trainer really cared about the pups learning, keeping the big pups and little pups separate, and gave hands on attention to all of them. I order my Boxer's pet food off of Petco.com to get a discount but always stop here for treats, snacks, and toys. The employees are so nice and lovable with the dogs. I love that I can bring my pup in here when we need to stock up. Go to place! I just wish they had more competitive prices! read more
