My cat is a finicky critter. She's sweet, but dislikes changes, particularly when it comes to food! That being said, her finicky eating is probably related to not going outside to kill her own food. Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, she was an outdoor cat. I came here two years ago and was pleasantly surprised at how friendly the staff was. Two years later and nothing has changed! This store is clean and well stocked with top brand foods that is highly rated by the dog/cat food advisor. HF will match the price at other stores including online. That's an awesome business practice. I buy a specific food (Orijen) for my kitty! I buy lots of treats for my kids critters and for the resident kitty. The cost is never an issue when you want the best for your 4 legged friends. My cat is weird and a pain in the butt when it comes to food. So grateful for Hollywood Feed understanding how strange cats really are! They have the best return policy ever! I rinse out the cans and return them with the receipt for an exchange or refund. This morning (12/8/2017) Went to Hollywood Feed (Alma @ W McDermott in Allen) Over a month ago there had been a minor problem that I called about when I got home. Today I arrived with my dogs and was greeted by Devon. He and my puppies have a good relationship. (unlike almost any other male that they want to protect us from) He without hassle or the receipt was able to pull up the order (without asking my name or info) and made an adjustment. He is always friendly, and his interpersonal skills as well as intercanine skills are outstanding. He handed me the holiday flier and then allowed us to peruse the store. Doggies and I like the adventure and they like the fact that some of the yummies are in reach of "self service" if I don't stay vigilant. (Catahoula managed to sneak thief a piggy nose once. We found it and came back in to address the misdeed.) Devon always makes the visit special by getting down on the level of the pets and speaking calmly and offering a special treat. They will do things for him that nobody else except family can make happen... I have been in many Hollywood Feed stores in the D/FW area as well as Memphis TN and points in between. We feel particularly at home and comfortable in this particular store. It is always clean and the aisles are wide enough to not make us feel cramped. This visit, the store was particularly well stocked and attractive. Well Done!!! I recommend Hollywood Feed without reservation as a Go To place for your beloved furry family member. One additional item that is important: Not only do they have a "your pet will like it or we will take it back" policy, they actually are the best at the practice. I come here to buy my 5 year old Boston terriers food. And have had no problems. However, when I got a new puppy and didn't want to use two different foods they suggested goats milk to soften the food. Sure, sounds like a good idea. So I got some and used it for maybe three days before going to the vet. We went to the vet because my pup was experiencing bloody stool and I was nervous he had Parvo. Upon further investigation and the vet visit, it was the goats milk. Goats milk, or any other species, is bad for dogs. Animals can't digest another animals milk. Bottom line, they are great sales men, and will sell you anything. I understand they have training videos that tell them these things are good for them, however I think the company should look into asking a vet for their opinions. My puppy could have died or gotten seriously sick if I hadn't gone to the vet and stopped using the goats milk. read more

Stopped in to see if they carried our brand/variety (Acana Wild Mackerel Singles) and was thrilled to see that they did, and at a good price. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, they even mentioned and offered to sign us up for the Acana loyalty program without any prompting. I was also really impressed with the selection of treats- our Pyr is super sensitive/allergic to many things, and this store carries several of the treats I've had trouble finding in stores/only seen online (e.g.; Plato, Primal Treats). I noticed they seem to carry a wide selection of raw (freeze-dried) food, and oh the toys! So many cool toys! The icing on the cake- they have some really awesome gift items like wine glasses, witty magnets, etc. I got the cutest Popsocket there (see pic) We'll definitely be going back! read more

I love that all the food and treats they carry are all natural and I don't have to be so concerned about what my pup may or may not being eating. I LOVE this place! Absolutely superior customer service in that they go above and beyond to support your pet's nutritional needs. They stock items not found at big box stores for good reason (ask them about it!). More than once I've had questions about foods and the manager has taken the time to follow up directly with a buyer. In short, the staff have a wealth of info about their high-quality USA made foods (many foods sold at Target or even PetSmart, etc are made in China and have horrid ingredients... I've done my own research to confirm) and will truly ensure they meet your pet's needs. My personal opinion is if I feed my dog healthy food, she's much less likely to need to see a vet-- thus far, it's worked as all my dogs are very healthy, knock on wood! I was SO excited when I saw this was opening up right by where I live. I usually always go to the one off Inwood, and that is where I had found out about Hollywood feed. But now, this store in Allen is my go to. Between the awesome selection of products/food/toys they have, to the attentive staff. It is an all around great shopping experience. I love this place. They will price match (even Chewy.com) and have the best selections of food for my dog and cats. The staff is always so friendly and they always offer to carry my bags out to the truck.
