I can not recommend this business! I dropped off my Golden Retriever for a BATH ONLY!!…read moreThat's what I ordered on-line and confirmed verbally at drop off. BATH ONLY!!! I picked him up and he had been de-shedded, nails AND his paws were trimmed!!! Some customers might be happy about getting a service they didn't pay for. If the de-shedding, nail and paw trim was what my dog needed AND it was a job well done, I might feel differently. But that is NOT the case! De-shedding issue: My Golden does NOT have the long, flowing "typical" Golden fur. His is fur is fine and short, it just doesn't grow much and does NOT to be de-shedded!! It finally had just gotten long enough this past year that it layed down. Now, it's sticking up every where, gets tiny tangles, is a shaggy mess! Nail trim and Trimmed paw issue: When I say, they trimmed his paws, you can see where they just snipped the "grinch fur" sticking up on the top of his paws, not that they did a nice trim job and blended the fur etc. Some Golden owners might not like the "grinch feet" but I am not one of them! The nails didn't even need a trim, now they have jagged edges!! The paw trim was not a job well done and was NOT a service I asked for!! My biggest issue though, is getting a service I DID NOT ask for or want!! WHY were grooming tools even near my dog when I ONLY ordered a basic bath?? I have sent an email asking a manager or owner to call me to discuss this. I have also called multiple times asking to speak to someone in charge or call me and nothing!! It's been a week now, No response to my email and no call back. So this is my first negative review EVER! So at this point, all I can say is, DO NOT GO HERE if you want any level of professional customer service or if you want any service that is what you asked for and looks good!

Their website is super easy to navigate and it lists all of their services and information. Since Morgan was only a few Months old we booked the Bath and Tidy service which includes a bath with premium shampoo and conditioner, a brush out, nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning. When Morgan was finished she looked so pretty and clean and she was also happy! We can't say enough good things about the staff there also and they are great about sending reminders about upcoming Appointments and they also send a text message to let us know when Morgan was ready for pick up. So glad we found these angels to take care of our fur baby!!

I spoke with an associate over the phone at Lakeside Pet, completed the online forms, and submitted all the required paperwork. We normally take our dog to another grooming business, but our regular groomers have been unavailable for quite some time due to being down a technician. So, we decided to look elsewhere for a personal groomer--one we considered making the new grooming home for our fur baby. I booked a full grooming appointment with Lakeside Pet on Wednesday, 6/24/26, for the following day, 6/25/26, at 1:00 p.m. I took our dog in for his scheduled appointment and explained his temperament. He makes friends wherever he goes, loves treats, and has never bitten anyone. I also explained that we wanted a low teddy bear cut because of the extreme Texas heat. We agreed on the length, and I left our baby for his 1:00 p.m. appointment. At 2:01 p.m., I received a text from his groomer, Karla, stating: "Hi this is Karla, Creed's groomer. After a closer assessment of his face and ears. I did see that he has quite a lot of matting in his ears and muzzle. I will need to shave both places to get the matting off. He will have a clean face like a poodle because of the matting in his muzzle. Please let me know if you have and questions or concerns." My response: "Hey, Karla. I'm not surprised. He had a cone on for the last couple of weeks and our groomer's been booked for a while too. Do what's necessary. Thanks!" At 2:10 p.m., I received another text from Karla: "I did attempt to work on Creed but he was fighting the grooming process too much and I had to stop the groom for his safety. I would recommend talking to his vet about a light sedative like trazadone for grooming. If he is on a sedative we could try again with him as an express appointment. I was only able to shave some of his face and then had to make the call to stop the groom for his safety. You can pick him up now. There will be no charge today." When I arrived, I found our baby with half of his face shaved, uneven pieces of hair dangling from the other side, and no bath. I can only assume Karla didn't begin grooming him until 2:01 p.m.--an hour after I dropped him off--and just nine minutes later I was told to come pick him up. When I asked what happened, Karla stated, "he kept moving his head too much." What dog doesn't move? I even asked if he had growled or tried to bite her. "No, he just kept moving his face away." I offered to continue the appointment by giving him a CBD chew we had purchased from the pet store. We often use them to help calm our fur baby during bad storms. She declined and instead suggested that we get a prescription for trazodone from our veterinarian. I was genuinely puzzled. We've taken him to the same veterinary office for baths on numerous occasions and have never once been told he needed trazodone for grooming. My impression was that a dog who moved during grooming simply wasn't within her comfort zone. It seemed she expected him to remain completely still. Our dog was in a new environment with a new groomer. It's reasonable to expect that he would be a little apprehensive. I also believe more effort should have been made to work with him rather than ending the appointment after only nine minutes. She offered us a follow-up "express appointment with trazadone," rather than the full groom I had originally booked. I was left with the impression that she wasn't interested in spending any additional time helping our baby look his best. Needless to say, we won't be returning, and we won't be recommending Lakeside Pet to others.

She used harsh chemicals on him and left them on too long, which burned and irritated his skin. On top of that, she aggressively scratched him with deshedding tools, leaving him raw and in pain. Within 24 hours, my sweet happy and energetic dog became lethargic and very unwell, barely able to move and not eating or drinking. We had to rush him to the emergency vet, where we were told that his rash and sickness were caused by contaminated grooming tools and/or the harsh deshedding products that were left on him. I asked all the questions and double checked that there was nothing else that could have caused this and he doubled down on the groomer causing this harm. Hearing this from a medical professional broke my heart -- my dog suffered because of carelessness and disregard. No pet owner and more importantly no pet should ever have to go through what we did. I entrusted Helen with the health and safety of my dog, and instead, he was harmed and traumatized. Please think twice before allowing Helen to touch your dog. Our pets deserve gentle, safe, and compassionate care -- not to be put at risk. Photo is of Apollo prior to groom and then another two photos after she groomed him and he had to have portions of his coat SHAVED off because of the burns and scratch's on his skin
