Since we were very new parents and live in only two blocks away from the store, we were asking tons of question to the owner(Mr. Felix) all the time. He always gives us useful information and great tips with his sweet kindness. If he doesn't have what you are looking for, he can make an order for you. I do that sometimes because he charges you lower than Online or other pet supply stores near here. I recently purchased the pet travel carrier from him and it was cheaper than Amazon.com. Definitely reasonable price in my neighborhood :) And this store is clean, lots of sunlights and doesn't have the typical pet store smell. You know some pet store has bad odor. My puppy loves to going into the store and plays with those two Felix's cats.

I like that they carry good quality merchandise, but have found the customer service to be lacking recently. I went in to pick up some Origen and Stella & Chewy's for my boy, and couldn't find the cat Origen. I searched for a while and finally asked the person at the register. She looked around a bit but couldn't find it either, concluding that they were out of stock. I needed it right away so looked a little further and found it. When I told the employee, so that others wouldn't have to repeat my experience, she looked at me blankly, seemingly not interested. The overall vibe was that I was creating an inconvenience by requesting assistance. There was no warmth, no presence, no sense that I was particularly welcome in the store. I have met with this kind of attitude on several previous occasions while shopping at this store. I may continue to go here from time to time *only* because of the convenient (for me)location, but I hope to find a store with better customer service. Also, there's a sense that dogs might be the favored species here (they must pull in more profit), and the register is surrounded by body parts like pig ears and whatnot.

It's a small narrow store, but a great selection of pet products to choose from. I've bought some pet toys here which were well loved by the recipients. Looking to adopt a new little friend? A new cat or kittens? They have cat adoptions every Sunday from one o'clock to 4 o'clock, in their roomy backyard, through the door in the rear of the store. You can see all the cats/ kittens that are available, in wire cages with water and a litter box. The cats/ kittens available may vary from week to week. In colder weather, a tent is set up over the entire area. If you see a cat/ kittens you like, adopt as soon as possible, because some are adopted out pretty quickly. Fill out the online adoption form and someone will get back to you within a few days. There are many volunteers there, helping out, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If there is cat you like, you may get to touch and hold them, just ask. Finale note: this is a wonderful store because they work with cat rescue teams, who save kittens/ cats, to made this all happen. Having and playing with a cat, reduces stress! Their hose has a setting for rinsing (just water) and for cleaning (water with soap already added), plus they provide conditioner if you want to use that! There is also a dryer inside the cleaning area, but it's very loud. They provide towels if your pup isn't good with loud noises. After a long bath, it was nice to grab a few bones (rawhide, pig ear, and bully stick) all of which were reasonably priced or cheaper than petco! We signed up for their frequent wash program and will definitely return. The only con is you can only wash one pup at a time, so you may have to wait a bit for a turn!

I usually shop at Petco due to the variety of food and supplies sections, but after a long day I was tired and my husband suggested that I shop there since Petco is further. My husband said asked me was I buying anything, I told him no that I was going to check on the car. I didn't want to say out loud that the store didn't have what I wanted. It's a new store so I'm sure they will get more supplies soon. The woman at the register told my husband "I hope your little friend didn't steal anything because you two will not be able to shop here again and I will call the police. When my husband came to the car and told me what she said I was upset because I was nice, I didn't give her any reason to believe I was going to steal. I just didn't see what I wanted, I have a picky cat with a sensitive stomach. I don't steal and I never experienced this in no other pet store. I've been to so many pet stores for my cat and dogs and none of the pet stores treated me like this pet shop did. The woman assumed I was stealing because I am a black woman who couldn't find what I wanted in the store. They lost a 14+ year customer to Chewy because their policies are anything but customer centric. I joined the frequent buyer's club for Orijen dog and cat food. I was told three times that on my next visit, I was entitled to a free bag of dog food. Whenever I came to claim it, they said it was actually on my next visit. When it happened the second time, I took photos of my receipt and tracker to ensure no future problems. I just went for the third time to claim my bag. I was told the program was discontinued. No warning, no outreach, no consolation for a long standing customer. I bought a bag of Orijen and changed my mind, less than two minutes later. When I asked to return it, I was told no refunds. No written policy anywhere in sight of the cash register. Rather than fight, I decided it was my last visit there and I'd add Orijen to my next Chewy delivery. Do better for your customers, NYC Pet. We have choices, and I'll be exercising mine to shop elsewhere
