They make it so easy to order online ahead of time so it's done for your arrival. I came here to celebrate my dogs birthday because I didn't want to go through making a cake like last time. Majority of the stuff on there website is available in store. They have such cute accessories but they are pricey. The cakes are small and will run you around $25 and the cookies and cupcakes range from $3-5 dollars each. Things can add up. Then they sell these prime dog bones that my dogs destroyed and LOVED!! I wish I could buy the entire store including the cute leashes!!! You might see a store that is closed that says district dog when you pull up don't be alarmed they moved 1-2 stores down. Good dog supply store! I made the trek to Brooklyn to get a cake for my dog's first birthday because I didn't want to pay for delivery. I placed the order for a cake online for pickup. Definitely pricey and the cake was small for the price, but I wasn't throwing a party for him and his friends so the cake was a lot for one dog. My dog loved the frosting and licked it all off and wasn't sure how to bite into the cake, but he's a weirdo. I would recommend freezing the cake if your dog can't eat it all right away. The store seemed to have a range of supplies and well-stocked. They also have other baked dog goods that you can order. I got a "one" candle, and the cake photographed really well. However, he did call me and tell me, so I go over there and there's a lady staff and I asked her for my pastries, she is so rude and cold and tells me she don't know what I'm talking about , so I play her the voicemail and she says oh and she takes the old pastry and slides it over on the counter, I said o OK! The owners are a beautiful couple and people that not only care about animals but about their community. Bella (my shorkie) left her first grooming since i adopted her looking like an episode of "Underdog to Wonderdog" on the Animal Planet, she was perfectly cut, smells great and seemed to not mind the experience overall. My dog was groomed at District Dog recently. I called and they were able to fit him in the next day, which was wonderful. My dog is rather sensitive to grooming, and sometimes comes back from a groomer timid and hides under things for a few days. At District Dog, this didn't happen at all. My dog clearly had a good experience. Everyone there was very nice to me and listened to all of my concerns (from his sensitive nature, to sensitive nails and ears, to mats and exact haircut I wanted). My dog looks great and is very happy. It was a little pricey, but I got everything I asked for. I highly recommend the grooming here! read more

I traveled all the way from south Brooklyn because I could not find any other place that makes desserts and pastries for my doggies. It was both my dogs birthday and wanted to do something special for them so I decided to head over to Greenpoint and get them cupcakes and treats. I got two cookies and two cupcakes for them at a reasonable price for 4.99 a cupcake and 2.99 for a cookie. The cupcakes needed to be defrosted a bit before feeding the dogs but once I put it down my babies went HAM on them especially my big dog. They loved the cupcakes and will definitely go back to get some or maybe bake some myself. Overall this pet store seems to carry a lot of different items for dogs and cats at reasonable prices. read more

The ex and I bring Sebastian (Stinky) here every time for his grooming. they are always very pleasant and accommodating. The shop is really cute and has a nice variety of products for sale. Stinky always comes back happy and perfectly groomed. It really shocks me that there were the two reviews below that say their animals were mistreated. This absolutely does NOT sound like the service that we get when we take Stinky here. He is very, very shy when it comes to strangers and even the ex and I can not trim his nails as he is very sensitive. We've never had a problem with the groomer trimming Stinky's nails. He comes back always happy with tail wagging and a cute new bandanna around his neck. I would most wholeheartedly recommend taking your furry friend to District Dog for their grooming needs. read more

It's the second time going here for the "Frozen Goat Milk Yogurt with Coconut for my Pomerania. 1st time I bought a box there was no problem. 2nd time I went and purchased 2 boxes mind you these yogurts are pretty expensive treats. Cute little pet store with nice staff and a good selection of higher-end food and toys. It's definitely more expensive than chain pet stores, but it's nice to support a local business. Also, they helped organize a dog masquerade to help four-legged victims of hurricane Sandy, which is a huge plus in my book. This is where we buy all our cat food, litter, treat, and toy needs. They have a ton of cool dog toys and outfits. A variety of nutritional foods for dogs and cats in wet, dry and raw forms. There newer store, next to their former location on Driggs Ave is nicely organized. They also have nice soy candles that help with owning animals. This is a family business, the owners are a married couple, Rob and Bea and are long time Greenpointers. They are extremely helpful to answer any questions and very active in the community. I think they even have special dog cookies and Birthday cakes- they looked delicious even though they were not for people. read more

Best pet supply store ever. My cat was suffering from hot spots that had been treated ineffectively by several vets. One of the employees here suggested I try a "pea free" diet as many pets have developed pea allergies from the over use of peas as a cheap protein source over the years. I switched to a dr hills science diet and my cat is happy and healthy!! This is after seven years of on and off issues!! They're always friendly and helpful here. The employees all remember and understand that our animals are our family. They never throw a sales pitch, but will give you well informed and candid advice. This review is solely based on the grooming. In short, our dog was damn near butchered. She's not the same dog anymore and I hope she recovers emotionally. Yes, they have a cute store with decorated doggie treats. Yes, they were very smart to put it right next to the dog run. Yes, it is a smart little business (heavily focused on profits) using, apparently, the heavy Polish surrounding for their workforce. The groomer was less than charming. Our dog loves just about everyone. She always goes up to other dogs, people; extremely friendly probably too much so. Once in a while, she'll bark at someone at night who resembles the unibomber; other than that; she's just a sweet pup. Well, she wouldn't let the groomer come near her until I bridge the gap between them. And the groomer had zero personality; I question her English capacity. Maybe there was a mis-communication because she didn't get the nuances of social interaction. When we picked her up, there was a dog YELPING in pain as she was being groomed. It's a cute store; get better kinder help. read more

I really like the people and product of this food store so I can't completely reduce the rating as this is where I get my dog's food, but the thing that drives me mostly crazy is their hours. As someone had stated earlier, every time I go to work (which is later than most...around 11 or 12) they are closed and then they close around 6 or 7 depending on the season which is right when I get home. I tell my boss I need to come in a bit late to get my dog's food and yet still they aren't open when they say they're supposed to be, making me even more late. They probably open more so around 12:30. I've learned this after several days of waiting 15-20 minutes after 12 for someone to show up and open up. It's just a bit aggravating. If you say you are going to open at 12, be open at 12, otherwise be truthful in your advertising and change it to 12:30. I think the reason their hours are so weird and short is because of the amount of sales for the store is pretty small so they can't afford to stay open that long. Either way, I hope they become more professional and timely in the future because I really love this dog store apart from this complaint. Other than that, this store has great quality dog food and a very friendly work staff that seem very knowledgeable on doggy health. My cat and I had the worst experience! District Dog did not respect basic sanitary rules or the pets and they lied to me. They started mowing without showering even though they told me a shower was required before mowing to protect their material. The table was dirty and full of dog hair, and when the woman put my cat in a cage to take care of a dog who smelled like urine, she didn't clean the table or her hands. My cat became really nervous since we had already been there for more than an hour. And the woman was falling asleep every two minutes while she worked on my cat! The session lasted 3 painful hours. My cat came out stinking and now she is sick. Think twice before going there for grooming. read more

The owner and his wife spearheaded the creation of McGorlick Park's dog run and sell a wide variety of high quality food and toys for cats & dogs. They also do grooming for both CATS & DOGS. I've been searching high and low for a Cat Groomer in Brooklyn, and I think I have found it with this couple who speaks so lovingly about their own pets. After my appointment I will be sure to update this post. Update: My cat survived the groomer and didn't seem too upset by it. YEAH! They only staff one groomer, whom they trust, this is the shop I've been looking for. They even have cute dog treats encased in a display case in front. I feel like I'm shopping in Manhattan, if only the shops in Manhattan were so cute.... I think I'm really starting to like Brooklyn a whole lot. read more

I got a puppy during Covid and this Tuesday we celebrated his 1st birthday. After weeks of animal cake exploring I found District Dog on google. The cakes were so cute and I wanted to support a local NYC BUSINESS. Communication felt personal and they wanted to make sure I got the best cake possible for my boy. I ordered it about 2-3 weeks in Advance with an anticipated ship date of April 12 and worse case scenario the day of the party 4/13. I was very nervous to receive a baked good the day of but trusted it would be ok. I was sadly mistaken. At 4:56 I got the notification it was delivered so I ran downstairs to retrieve it. I knew something wasn't right in my gut. It was with other packages and not cold. I opened the box to find leashes. No cake. Leashes. I cried. I wanted this party to be special and now I had no cake. I immediately text District Dog and was apologized to. It was just too late. I was very upset and had to rush to make do with less than 2 hrs until the gathering. read more

A great neighborhood pet store, not sure what was up with the 1 star review on here. It's right by McGolrick Park, not sure why it says it's in E. Williamsburg, it's Greenpoint! Anyway, cute store, great selection of quality pet food and litter. I wish there was more for cats aside from the great food collection - there's some cardboard scratching posts, some cute collars, a small selection of toys. But that's kind of par for the course with most pet stores, really - and its name is District Dog, after all, not District Cat. But I'm very happy to have it in the neighborhood and the staff is always friendly and helpful when I ask for recommendations. read more
