Love this place! great kitty supplies in a city solely focused on dogs. For the worker that said my cat would be "super weird" if she doesn't like the spring toys, she in fact is SUPER WEIRD and doesn't understand them. Despite that, will be back for a toy and treat selection that is way better than Petco at Union Square. read more

Great store! We loved that they had a dog AND cat store and they have everything we needed!! Everyone who we've met that works there is also sooo sweet and great with animals! Highly recommend read more

This is a cute little spot with great treats and toys for your pet. They have a wide variety of options as well.

What can I say about this gem!! IT'S AMAZING. when you think small businesses this is exactly what you imagine. Friendly knowledgeable available. Joan is just great. She's so thoughtful and caring. Come here for all your pets' needs - need a collar, need a harness, need treats or food or something that will comfort your fur friend - this is the place. Stop by to check in with other fur friends and get some loving from those already around. Don't miss a visit here they're always great! read more

I found an abandoned pit mix on the street and came into PS9 to get some supplies. I purchased some food, and the woman behind the counter so kindly found a spare leash, collar, and dog diapers that she gave to me for free (since the dog was in heat). She then took my cell number and texted me advice to find the dog a permanent home. Thanks for being such a nice person!!! read more

The best all around! The care and love they give to the cats are genuine. Thank you for being there !

One of my favorite local Loves to support. Helpful and knowledgeable staff, great selection and my pup loves it. read more

Terrible place. I've shopped there for years, always loved the place but have since had the single worst experience of my life here while trying to exchange/ return a clearly SPOILED package of puppy food. The owner and terrible manager Instantly yelled at us when we asked for a different package (which they didn't have in stock) and then asked for my money back which they refused. After 30 min they finally agreed to give us our money back and and we were leaving, the manager hopped from behind the desk, and yelled, "NEVER COME BACK" and proceeded to SHUT THE DOOR ON MY BF AND I. THE DOOR WAS ON OUR BACKS AND LEGS because she couldn't just let us leave in peace!!!!! They are a RACIST ESTABLISHMENT and I will be supporting other small businesses. The owner came in and instantly yelled at us, didn't even let us speak. The manager called me rude a number of times and was absolutely horrendous. I abhor having to leave such a negative review because I've chosen to support this place over the years over Amazon NYC PETS, Chewy etc. but the way they treated us was abysmal. They're stressed out due to the pandemic but WE ALL ARE and we have to deal with it in the best way we can!!!!! SHOVING THE DOOR ON SOMEONE IS NO WAY TO DEAL WITH THE ALREADY STRESSFUL SITUATION. read more

The cat store has been super helpful with all my questions on wanting to adopt a kitten & I had lots & lots of questions with a Wild 5yr old in tow. With their advice I was able to rescue a stray from my friends yard!! I look forward to buying all my kitty supplies here! read more

PS9 Pet Supplies - Spooky Cat - Pet Stores Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Employee in cat portion of store was extremely intrusive and disrespectful of us and our cat - they went so far as opening up our carrier and grabbing our 9 week old kitten without permission and then dangling her in one of the cages with one of the cats that was up for adoption. Unsafe for both our cat and the other kitten! read more

PS9 is such a special part of the neighborhood. It's more than a store although they definitely carry the best selection of cat and dog food and other products. No junk here! I started frequenting the store as a foster and now as a pet owner, I buy everything my cat needs at PS9. The staff is knowledgeable about all elements of pet care and the owner, Joan, is a gem. I'd rather my $ go to Joan and PS9 than Chewy or Amazon. Bonus: Joan works with local animal rescues to facilitate adoptions through the store. read more

I've casually been going to this store looking for a cat to adopt. However, some of the ladies in this store are really unfriendly and give a very negative energy. Especially the woman with the tattoos. I didn't catch her name but she just doesn't take kindly to people who want to interact with the cats. I wish it was a better environment. :/ read more

Best store in the neighborhood! Maybe even the city. Great selection of food and toys, and wonderful staff.

I stumbled across this pet boutique on my way home. I am so glad that I did! The staff was very friendly and helpful with the concerns that I had. The gentleman at the counter helped me to find a product that worked for his dog in the past. Prices were affordable compared to a lot of the pet boutiques around NYC. Before I came in, I thought, "wow everything is going to be over priced." This was not the case. I was also happy not supporting a large business such as Petco or Pet-smart (please don't shop there!) I have been using the product for less than 24 hours, and already see a major improvement! Not to mention, adorable kittens! Will definitely be back. read more

The woman at the dog store with the dark hair always seems to be in a bad mood. Like it's painful to be helpful. It's not. And why is there a different price for using a credit card vs cash? I have NEVER paid more for using a credit card in NYC. I googled it and turns out charging more money for credit card vs cash is PROHIBITED IN NYC. So why are they charging me an extra fee for my $12 purchase? Rude gal. I'll go elsewhere then. Byee. read more

Used to come here on a weekly basis to grab stuff for my bunnies. They have essential bedding, food & treats so overall a decent shop to go to in the neighborhood. The cool part is they also have lots of natural or organic treats for all animals and typically the workers there are pretty friendly. They can also order basic stuff for you within the week if they're sold out. They usually have adorable kittens to adopt as well. All in all a cute mom and pop pet shop. read more

Whoever was manning today between 12-1 has a bee up her bonnet. Super rude. Walked out super quick. Her energy was just so negative. ( you'll probably need a whole stick of palo santo to banish her bad juju away) read more

I love this place. I couldn't say that enough. I have never seen any place so selflessly devoted to the care and health of animals. They source the best food, supplements and accessories, all while working with rescue groups to save animals from the streets, hurricanes and meat plants. And they didn't stop providing any of this, even when the ASPCA shut down during lock down. The owner is nothing less than heroic. read more

We go out of our way to come here! Not only do they carry the best quality food. But are the only place that sells the long, bunny-kickable cat toys. I dunno the brand but they're great, the shop's great - just great all around. read more

I've been a customer of PS9 for about 10 years and always look forward to shopping there. Joan, the owner, and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and since I've adopted 3 rescues through the store over the years, it helps to have access to their expert advice. The store carries the best products and a wide variety, and they keep up! I'm also a cheapskate so I shop where I can get the best prices and PS9 has them. I've compared prices to other stores in the area and online retailers, and the prices at PS9 are almost all cheaper or at least the same price. It's great because not only can support my local pet store, I can get great prices and feel good that I'm helping support a store that helps adopt thousands of rescues and saves the lives of those precious cats and dogs. read more

PS9 Pet Supplies - Pet Stores Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

The owner truly loves animals and only offers the best, high-quality food and supplies. In addition, she does her best to get as many previously unwanted cats, kittens, dogs and puppies adopted as she possibly can. Absolutely an organization worth patronizing. read more

Recently saw some negative reviews and I can only say those customers were having their own bad day and not a typical famous PS9 homey experience. PS9 is the most welcoming and neighborhood-ly spot for high quality pet food, highly advanced pet care knowledge via the owner, Joan, and kittens taken care of lovingly, placed carefully and thoughtfully for adoption. This is truly the spot for both your daily playful kitten therapy as well as all your pets' necessities, food, toys and otherwise A neighborhood regular here saying, ignore the out of the blue hate. It's absurd, and cold hearted. Joan is hard working, and nothing but full of love, for both animals and people alike. PS9 is all love read more

Now, THAT'S a pet store! EVER helpful on any topic, be it food & litter & toys, or on general animal health & vets, this is a place you can rely on. Joan is certainly the least corporate in mentality of any store owner you will find, and her 'warmth approach' is especially well suited for pet lovers. The whole staff is exceptionally knowledgeable & willing to share their expertise. You won't get rushed along to make a sale if you have questions, but you'll get an honest assessment of any of the products they carry. Also, they carry lots of local talent in terms of unique hand-made stuff available to thrill your little bundle of joy, be it kitty or canine. And personally, before I go spend money at a vet, I'll do a little brain-picking here regarding issues or symptoms my cat may have, because they hear a LOT of stories about things going around with pets in the area, and know a lot about what could be up, which may put your mind at ease. And that's what separates them from just being a store and being a true RESOURCE. PS9 is the real deal. read more

I figured that I'd give this place another try after having witnessed the worst customer service. Since it was a beautiful day outside yesterday I decided to take my dog for an extra long walk with a friend and her dog and we stopped by this little shop again. The same woman, the one that has been mentioned numerous times here, was managing the shop and she was as unpleasant as ever. My friend was trying to find a good sweater for her dog. I was trying to give her some suggestions when the sales woman came over, stood directly in front of me and then continued to talk over me and completely ignore me. She had done this same thing to me a couple of months ago as well but I figured maybe she just had a bad day or something! Nope, seems she just really rude. Then, another dog came into the store and she told me to move and that I shouldn't stand where I was standing with my puppy, it was then that I decided to leave and never come back! Add to that they are totally overpriced! I needed dog shampoo and found the same stuff a couple of blocks away at NYC Pet for $3 less. So why would I pay more money for awful costumer service where I feel totally unwelcome? They may be trying for that "look" of a local neighborhood type place but they're totally missing the mark when it comes to neighborhood niceties! read more

I can't believe it has taken me so long to write this review but I have nothing but glowing things to say about the staff and this shop. I've been bringing and shopping for my dog here for nearly 4 years now. After getting my dog Winston, I was shopping at NYC Pet (it's fine, nothing unique or outstanding) but then I discovered PS9 Pets and have never gone anywhere else since then. If there is any dog food that you are looking for and they don't carry they can order it for you. They carry all the high quality and premium brands of natural dog food and even carry raw. They carry high quality supplies and even some fun toys and products you wouldn't see at your typical pet store. Joan and Lisa are amazing, knowledgeable and the service they provide is above and beyond my typical expectations. I can't gush enough about this place. The prices are a little higher than purchasing online, but I'm an advocate for small business and you pay for what you get, which is great service and people who know you and your pet. Every time I walk in with Winston they always give him treats and give him tons of attention. My dog LOVES this place!! PS9 Pets is breath of fresh air where in NYC good customer service is hard to find. read more

Joan is super nice and always gives treats to my dog when we come in and has given me countless free samples and advice. PS9 is a fantastic resource for anyone in the community with a pet. You could go to PetCo for your doggie needs, but you also could eat at McDonalds every day. Doesn't mean you should. Go to PS9. read more

They're the reason to shop local. I bought a dog crate through them that turned out to be defective and they allowed me to return it for store credit with no hassle whatsoever. If I had bought it online or at a box store, I'm sure I would have been stuck with a defective crate. They're very friendly and knowledgeable about every product they sell. Recommend them %100! read more

I like this store. It's always clean looking and the merchandise is better quality than a chain. They have only the best kinds of food for your animals, so no cheap shit like Iams. They also are very knowledgable about their products. PS If you bring them an empty cereal box, they will donate 20 cents to ASPCA. read more

I think I've posted a review before, but was thinking it was good time to RE-review as PS9 moved recently from it's old location [ 2 stores down] and now has so much more visability-YAY!. PS9 stands out as a locally owned and operated business that never shies away from supporting the pet community that it serves. I can't tell you how many stray dogs have ended up in her shop trying to find their "mommies". The staff is always available to try to help answer your nutrition and health questions and suggest a course of action, food or product. Additionally the "couch" is a nice spot to park yourself with your pet and catch up on the neighborhood news. MY BEST advice is to go in and INTRODUCE yourself-they are that kind of store. xox read more

Worst adoption event ever. I am not sure exactly how the kitten adoption event is related to the store but it is incredibly misleading. I checked in advance and was told there were 7 or so kittens up for adoption. The woman in charge of the adoption had a stick up her ass. Although I explained I had a cat at home she refused to "split" any of the siblings up and would only allow adoption in pairs. (125$/each, 250$ total). Two additional cats is completely different than adopting just one! After playing with the kittens for 15 mins she finally did show me a single cat (separated from the rest) she would be willing to adopt alone. Unfortunately, this kitten was super skittish and afraid...clearly spent too much time with this woman. A person like this paints a bad picture for us cat lovers. She should be working to finding great homes for cats as often as possible. I overheard her discouraging another couple from adopting a cat because, "three cats is as many as she has and anymore is too much". Luckily there are dozens of other cat adoption places (and pet stores) in the area. I had a great experience with Muddy Paws. read more

Great place with extremely helpful staff! I recently moved here from out west and my dog is use to eating a certain Canadian food that I can't find anywhere in NY. I went to this place and talked with the owner and sales girl who was working and they immediately got on the phone with the distributor to find out how they could stock this food for me. So not only did they bringing in a whole new product for my spoiled dog, but then they helped me pick a different brand that would be comparable until they received my brand. read more

I felt compelled to write this review given the unfairly negative comments below. I have always had positive experiences shopping here and the customer service has been great. When my vet failed to diagnose my dogs intestinal issues, the staff here recommended a lower protein food (that was cheaper too) and ever since then my dog has been much happier. Even if the prices reflect the realities of running a small shop in an expensive town, the knowledgable and friendly staff make shopping here totally worth it. Thanks ps9! read more

Ps9 is the best pet shop in Brooklyn hands down. You can trust buying any product here because Joan really cares about the dogs that come in. Our little pup is a really picky eater and she has a large variety of high quality pet foods for him to eat. We always find interesting snacks, toys and clothing for our dog and he never stops wanted to come here! I don't know why anyone would give this place a negative review... This is one of the reasons Williamsburg feels like a home for us; people like Joan, places like Ps9. read more

Totally rude service. No greeting or offer to assist us upon entering the store or when we tried to ask a few questions. We were only ones in the store but the laptop that employee or owner was focused on took priority. Why wouldn't you want to make (potential) customers feel welcome? Go in for a demonstration on how not to treat people if you want to have a successful small business. read more

Best pet shop around! I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about when they say this place has bad customer service and the people are rude - maybe they're just the awkward ones. I'm in here all the time and the staff couldn't be any friendlier or helpful! As for the items being overpriced - that's not true. I've gone to other places in the area that charge more for the same items... they don't overly mark up their prices. Every dog in the neighborhood knows PS9 and their owners a lot of times can't walk down this street without going in - they give the dogs treats each time they come in and it's the good stuff (not cheap milk bone treats)! Not only is the staff friendly and well educated in pet matters they're also big players in the community for helping abandoned, stray or unwanted pets. I can only give this place praise! read more

PS9 is a little slice of pet heaven! Not only does it have a robust inventory of anything to meet your pet supply needs, but the owner Joan is the sweetest, most helpful, knowledgable, and caring person one could hope for in a pet store owner. I adopted 2 rescued kittens from PS9 - I was originally only going to get one but she wisely suggested I get 2 so they have a playmate while I work long hours - this ended up being great advice and thanks to her JayZ and Beyonce (my boy and girl kittens) and best friends and play together alllllll day long while I'm at work :) I am grateful the places like PS9 exist because it reminds me that there are still some very caring and personal stores and store owners where you are not just another random customer! read more
