Amazing place, staff super friendly, love it there...................................................100 % recomendable

This place was an amazing spot to wash your pup. Mine was dirty after frolicking in the mud so we came by for a bath. Their hose has a setting for rinsing (just water) and for cleaning (water with soap already added), plus they provide conditioner if you want to use that! There is also a dryer inside the cleaning area, but it's very loud. They provide towels if your pup isn't good with loud noises. After a long bath, it was nice to grab a few bones (rawhide, pig ear, and bully stick) all of which were reasonably priced or cheaper than petco! We signed up for their frequent wash program and will definitely return. The only con is you can only wash one pup at a time, so you may have to wait a bit for a turn! read more

Muddy Paws - Covered in mud - Pet Stores Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Cute small pet store on Graham Ave. I went to this store sometime when I ran out of my dog food or treat. Nowadays, I order my dog supply online but Muddy Paws is my second back up plan. Every time I go I always get friendly service and my dog gets a treat so he loves to come with me to the store. When I first got my dog, I actually bought toys and games from the store. Lots of his toys still alive, and one in a while I like to go check up if they have an interesting new toy. read more

Muddy Paws - My big guy after his bath - Pet Stores Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Small but well stocked pet store for dog and cat needs. Honestly, I patronize this business for their wash room. As a corgi owner, there is a seemingly endless amount of fur that is shed during a bath and having an entire room to wash him down instead of just the small dog wash stations you will see elsewhere is a unique find. They have a punch card for regular customers so you can get a free wash at some point. The people tending the shop are uniformly pleasant and helpful. read more

The owner of this place is a really nice lady. She had told me a few years of her store and I never went to check it out. So glad, I finally did ! ... I had too since my dog was very stinky and she really needed a bath ASAP. There is a nice room to wash your doggy by yourself, there is a table where you chain your dog, the machine with the cycles Rinse, Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Dry machine. I washed & dried my dog and I could tell that she enjoyed a lot, she was nice, quiet and relax. The store sales food and treats for pets, so after a nice bath, what better than to spoil my darling dog with some chicken treats and bone. The clerks were very nice, they gave me my frequent user card, which means with 5 wash I get one free. If you bring a second dog, there is $5.00 off the second dog's wash. I did end up getting my sneakers and pants wet, so it helps if you bring an extra set of clothes to change on yourself, unless is the summer and you will be wearing shorts. I did not mind getting wet, it was lots of fun. read more

If I walk my dog within a block of Muddy Paws, my pup will practically drag me in the door. At first I was skeptical -- thinking the local shop would have higher prices than the larger mass-market dog store in Union Square... However, imagine my surprise when I found by pup's favorite treats (dried chicken strips) at EXACTLY the same price as at those other stores and so close to home. Best of all is personal service, from individuals who are always happy to see your pup and always have a treat behind the counter for him, making the visit extra special. On weekends, they often have cat adoption drives. Definitely stop in and give someone a good home. read more

We are new to the area and stopped by to check if they sold our dogs brand of food. The employee who was working was SO nice and gave our dog a treat that he LOVED so we have to buy them now! He welcomed us to the neighborhood and recommended some places to eat. Very friendly and personable. Will definitely go back and support them. Even when there are other pet stores that are closer. read more

Just an amazing store with an incredible staff.. Juliana took a late call from me, in Texas..(.my daughter lives in Brooklyn), and when Juliana heard of our sad dilemma, she volunteered and went above and beyond for our family. This is why we prefer small locally owned businesses over the big box chains! Juliana's boss.....give her a raise. A promotion, and a pat on the back! Anything you need to do to keep her on your staff is worth it read more

First of all: lol @ the person who wrote their review tearing the business owner a new one for offering unsolicited advice on cat food claiming "you are not my vet" but then themself going on to offer specialist dietary advice for cats. I am one hundred percent sure you're not my vet. I would be more alarmed if I went into the store looking for dietary advice for my animal and the staff were *unable* to offer any insight or opinion at all. So here's a 5-star review to help combat that garbage and unfair 1-star review. Also, 5 stars for a local business pricing itself fairly and carrying a variety of nutrition, treat and clothing options. I do my best to support local trade but Amazon does make that difficult sometimes. However, I picked up a really robust and good-looking new winter jacket for my dog for less than $50, was able to try it on her before purchasing and the business owner encouraged my dog to play with his dog while wearing the jacket to ensure her movement wasn't restricted and that she was comfortable in it. He also has good taste in sandwiches. read more

A small shop that packs a lot of good. They always have the essentials and if you call ahead for special items they've offered to order them in for me when they've been out. The staff is really friendly and super helpful. My pup approves too after they gave him a premium snack just for stopping by! They also have cat adoptions in the back garden area a lot so if you're shopping around for a new friend check on the weekends. read more

Convenient local pet supply store. Employees are always friendly and helpful. If you want something that they don't have they'll usually order it for you. Prices aren't the best, but they mainly carry top-notch products, and its hard when they're trying to compete with online stores, and the PetSmart's of the world. Keep your money local. Support small business. read more

I come here to get wet food for my cat. He needs a variety - if you feed him any one kind too often, he'll refuse to eat it. That's why this place is good. They've got all sorts of different cat foods that are higher quality than Fancy Feast and are without the gluten. So, Theo - my little furface - approves. read more

I love this place! The girl who's always working there is so helpful. She let me ask her a billion questions and never got annoyed or short. For example: I just got a dachshund puppy and he had the worst dandruff. Instead of trying to up-sell me on products, the helpful clerk suggested that I add a half teaspoon of olive oil in his food (each time he eats). Not only did he like his food better, now his coat is super shiny and dandruff free. She even found a toy for the little guy that he has yet to destroy (which his amazing). Bottom line: all the food is great quality, they are incredibly helpful and happy to answer any question and know what they are talking about. Gold star! read more

Good selection of healthier choice then Purina, Science Diet or Fancy Feast. Organic shampoos, high grade treats can be found here. They had drinking water outside during summer time if your four legged companion happened to be thirsty. They do give out treats most of the time. Pro: Healthy food, friendly staff, adoption events. Con: limited to cats and dogs. read more

Okay now I DO buy my dogs' food here. The Eagle Pack Senior is my homegirls' jam. She still drags me into the store every chance she gets. I have also fostered a dog I met at Muddy Paws (you should foster too!) and now I have a new dog who will soon be familiar with this excellent store. They've got premium stuff. The good stuff. No space is wasted on el cheapo crap. I'm going there today after work with dogs in tow. It's Toy Buying Day for my girls and they deserve the very best. I regularly spend more than $1.07 at this most excellent store. Because it's awesome and my dogs love it. read more

This place is awesome. I felt the need to do this review because I was checking yelp for time of operations today and I came across a couple comments that took me aback in regards to their unhappiness with the dog wash aspect. For me, I wash my dog here because it's convenient, really affordable for what you get, and much easier there than at my place. My dog sheds a lot and would make a huge mess in my bathroom. My tub would clog and hair would fly and stick to the walls, shower curtain, tooth brushes, and everything else during toweling & blow drying. Now, if I had a yard and it was summer time, I'd just wash & hose him down and let him hang out and dry out in the sun. But I don't have a yard, let alone a water hose with warm water, and it's winter out. Yes, it's a shower and not a bath, which I prefer since it doesn't waste as much water and it's easier to get into those nooks & crannies. No, there aren't new towels...that'd be absurdly wastefully. Based on size, it's like $15 dollars to wash my dog. They provide everything including shampoo and conditioner, towels, brushes, dryer, etc. How much do you think it would cost to have someone come over or go to someone to wash you dog? Plus, it's important to me to bathe and groom my dog because it's bonding and I love the cubby dude. The staff is so sweet and awesome. They even let me marinate my dog for 15-20 mins in his special shampoo. The general products here are high quality and much better than things you'd find at pet co. Etc. The only complaint of mine would be the cow penis treats. Those things are crazy stinky. Any ways, this place is just plain awesome. It's down to earth, super friendly, and I find a lot of value here. read more

This is the best place. My pup loves it there. They all know her by her name and we go there all the time. I'm a big fan of their bathing facility where I can wash, shampoo, condition and dry my dog for a very good price (I've got a medium dog and it's $20 a bath). They offer a great loyalty program for baths, 6 and the 7th is free. We also buy our dog food here (where they keep track of the loyalty program for that as well). The owner and all the staff are excellent people that are just delightful to be around and they'll make you and your pup feel welcome and cared for. Word to the wise though if your dog hates cats... they do cat adoptions on Sunday with kitties onsite. read more

Great selection of high quality food for dogs and cats along with a good selection of toys and various supplies. I initially went in because I saw they had a do it yourself dog wash. The only other place I know of that has this type of facility apart from muddy paws is place near Washington Square in the city. It's a great alternative if you don't need the services of a professional groomer. Wash and leave the mess behind! Anything the store does not have in store they will try and order for you. It's not a Petco and its not supposed to be. Try going into a Petco and getting someone who actually knows about pet nutrition or even remembers you or your pets name. You'll find that at Muddy Paws. As for Romeo, he was much loved at the store by all the employees and customers and what happened was an accident in the truest sense of the word. read more

I have to say, this was one of my best experiences when it comes to buying pet supplies. The staff is friendly and wonderful, and extremely great with dogs! The prices are also competitive, especially when it comes to dry food for dogs who are allergic to all sorts of things. Will be coming here as long as I'm in the neighborhood! read more

Firstly, R.I.P. Romeo, the sweet parrot that lived in the store. He was always in there and looked kinda sad. I always wondered why he was never out of his cage. Sadly, the other day, I learned that Romeo was finally let out, but his wings weren't properly clipped and an employee left the front door open. And...poor Romeo flew out, crashed on the pavement and broke his neck. Why they didn't clip his wings and why the door was opened, I can't understand -- and I have to deduct points for that kind of negligence towards a pet in a PET store, of all places. I come by here about twice a month to fill up on dry food for my kitties and pick up some treats. No complaints, really -- good prices, decent selection. I would only ask that they got more toys and accessories for pets and fixed glitches in their computer system. A number of times, I was told their credit card machine was not working. read more

Muddy Paws...I started going here because it is literally around the corner from my apt but I could very easily get my dog supplies somewhere else at this point. I go back for 2 major reason: 1- Selection; they have a fantastic selection of items you cannot find at a pet superstore. I guess the negative would be if you are feeding your dog Alpo, Purina or Science Diet you better hit the local grocery because you will not find it here. They only stock the best/ healthiest types of pet food and items. 2- Friendly/ helpful staff; usually it is one person working in the smallish store but they are always VERY friendly to me and ,more importantly,to my dog Watson (who usually gets a treat). They usually have advice regarding food, accessories and even local pet care (walkers, training, vets). If you are in the area and need dog or cat supplies Muddy Paws is THE place to go. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Muddy Paws, from the owner to store employees, everyone is super knowledgeable, polite and seem to have a genuine care for animals. I have an ornery senior cat and since moving to the area I've cut down on vet costs with a few quick visits to Muddy Paws. I buy everything from them now, including food. Shop Small! read more

This review is for their self-service dog wash. We've been to a few other places in Brooklyn that had a self service station but they were either cramped or surrounded by barking dogs in kennels. Muddy Paws has a good sized private fully tiled room that was pretty clean. There is a wooden picnic style table, a wood slatted platform to stand on and they supply you with a waterproof apron, shampoo, bath mitt and towels. Unfortunately, for our medium sized dog, the table wasn't secure enough, there is no lip or barrier to prevent her from trying to jump or slip off so she kept moving around. Also, they should recommend you wear galoshes. Its probably fine for washing smaller dogs. And after 5 washes the 6th is free. The staff is friendly and was sweet to our pup! read more

My son and I couldn't adopt a kitten because we didn't have a cat already, so unexpected. Not mentioned on their website. My son was very sad he traveled so far only to get rejected. read more

This review is about the self service dog wash only! You don't wash your dog in a tub, but a clean sealed room be warned you will get soaked. I was disappointed, that there were no combs to brush my dog, nothing to clean the dogs ear, plus when drying not allowed to brush dog. Last thing I need is my dog getting matted. I felt I didn't get new towels more like used towels from previous wash. Staff: Very accommodating, and nice. They were great! read more

Michael is so great! Super sweet, super welcoming. They've got plenty of brands and supplies!

cleanliness = 5 stars, i've been in pet stores that were as dirty as hardware stores, but this place was well cleaned. organization = 5 stars, all items i saw were price tagged & inventory looked recent. staff = 5 stars, knowledgeable & informative. i did witness 1 dog after it had it's bath, dog was not frightened & given a treat on its way out. please check out the http://www.yelp.com/events/brooklyn-big-city-little-kitty-appreciation-and-adoption-day for your possibility to adopt a cat\kitten ! read more

Muddy Paws - Pet Stores Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I moved to an apt on the same block as Muddy Paws not knowing they were there. Upon moving in, I was so so happy to know there was a pet supply shop so close (the shorter the distance carrying cat litter the better!). And--not only a pet supply shop, but a GOOD one! I haven't seen one bad brand of cat food there and they have a bunch to choose from. THANK YOU for being on my block! read more

Sadly Muddy Paws has significantly gone down hill. The employee's have changed so now there's nobody there who's very knowledgeable or who maintains a real "community" vibe and the prices went up. The new manager didn't know what dogfoodadvisor was....and when I had a bag of food that had not been open during a recall, they refused to take the unopened bag back. Also, I asked to see a harness that costs about $30 and could not figure out how to put it on but B just sat there and was happy to hang it back up on the self when I said, if I can't even try it on how will I buy it. B said there was a picture I could look at while she sat behind the counter. She clearly had no interest in helping me the customer or making a sale. Amy and Cheryl really made Muddy Paws the great place it was. I upgraded stars, they're back to be good again. Yay read more

Specialty dog and cat food = good Having been around since the 90's with my dog, I am thankful to have quality food within walking distance of my home. However, some things have been irking me lately. Small selection of actual brands they carry = bad (ex. carry only sample size and huge bag of senior orejen. took months to get medium sized brand in. moved on by then) Change brands they carry = unpredictable Do not accept $50 bills = greatly bothersome, especially when i had exact change for a $57 bill. I love the owners. Been a customer since they opened. Deservedly so, they worked nonstop when it opened, they leave much up to their manager now. At least when I ask for things or contest that I have no other bills to purchase my items but the $57 for a $57 bill these situations are often chalked up to being the "manager's" decision or choice. In the last 2 years I have noticed a difference in selection and general attitude. The manager tends to make poor choices like not ordering stock well and not accepting $50 because of overwhelming counterfeits. And typically the people working are quite aloof, and even bothered by questions. Get a 50 dollar bill marker checker will ya? I give Muddy Paws 4 stars for the overall service over the years, but I hope they reconsider some of the inconveniences the manager has imposed lately. read more

This place is the best! They always have what we need in stock, they're open late (which has been helpful on so, so many occasions), and the staff is really friendly. The owner is great too -- he's given me helpful advice and sent me home with tons of free dog food samples (and they're all grain-free!) Really glad that I live so close to Muddy Paws...and so is my spoiled dog. read more

The people here are lovely. They actually let me take an airline-style carrier home to see how my cat would fit into it with the understanding that I could return it for a full refund if it was not right. I don't think many stores would let you do that. Also they are very well-stocked and you can tell they care about their work, that is, the animals. read more

I love this place! I have been frequenting NYC pet for the past few years and never knew this place existed. I moved away from Bedford Ave about 4 months ago after many years of residency to escape high rent and the hipster take over. I stumbled across this tiny pet store tucked in a little corner on Graham ave. I was AMAZED! I was always concerned with taking the best care of my pet possible which is why I shopped at NYC Pet. After shopping at Muddy Paws for the last few months here are some major differences I noticed. 1. NYC PET: Most staff members at NYC Pet are rude, NOT knowledgeable about product and at best, aloof. MUDDY PAWS: The staff is not only incredibly knowledgeable about animals and product, but they really make you feel like they specifically care about your furry friend and your nutrition concerns. 2. NYC PET: claims to have the best prices but many of their items are much more expensive than what you can find online. Another con is that the staff will contradict themselves just to make a sale. (I've experienced this many times and ended up just angry and confused) MUDDY PAWS: They don't have the best prices in NYC. No one does. But on certain items like any other store, their prices are better (even in some cases better than PETCO) But even in light of some prices being the same as any NY retailer, the staff is always honest, helpful and I have never felt like any of them tried to "sell" me something for the sake of selling it. They seem to take the best interest of the animal and what makes me as a customer feel comfortable. So overall, I wouldn't say support Muddy Paws just because its a local business. I'd encourage any Brooklynite to bring their business to a store that has good prices, organized merchandise and a staff that makes you want to go back, just because they are so amazing! (Especially the girl with half her hair short. She makes shopping there a very fun and informative experience.) Also, they have great hours! Open until 9:00! read more
