Despite its prime location along Queens Blvd, it's a little too easy to miss Wespaw Pets. It's by no means a large pet store, but I'm fairly confident it's the best one in all of Sunnyside. I've always been super impressed with their helpful customer service, super niche inventory, and how organized everything is in the store. It's certainly not like the chain'y mega stores but it is quaint and clean. They have a good number of things: pet food, pet toys and everything in between it all. Most of the stuff is geared toward cats and dogs, but they surely have the supplies for folks bringing up a ::insert animal:: into their home. Another bonus? It actually smells good in here. (#1) As is the deal with most stores with premium goods, their stuff can get expensive. While most everything can probably found online for cheaper, it's the best option for being able to get something in person without the wait for shipping. For those not able to make to the store, they also deliver for a fee. This place is a hit or miss. They have items all in different areas. Their pricing is kinda upscale for the area. This is Sunnyside, not Manhattan. I found some of their products for much less at different stores, at Amazon, and/or Walmart. No one asked me if I have their loyalty card. But they asked the customer next to my register. What the heck was that? I had to ask about the benefits and I really wanted to ask why I wasn't asked about joining or if I already joined? Hmm...something to think about. read more

The best pet store in the area. The best thing about this store is the team that works there. They are knowledgeable, kind, and wonderful with my little pup. After moving here she became very shy but they never gave up on her and now I can't walk by the store without her demanding to go in. A few times, I've had to run over for something and they are always ready to help. She once got a tummy ache and they had just the thing. Oh my gosh and when she had 13 teeth removed and refused to eat, they recommended a yummy chicken broth and it was like magic. read more

a pet friendly pet store in sunnyside that has a good variety of pet foods, treats , acessories , pet toys , etc, at reasonable prices . easy to navigate inside and while browsing around i found what i needed for mr pickles (jack russell) . i got a new harness and leash, a few durable toys, a few bags of doggy treats and 2 10lb bags of high quality grade dog food thats perfect for some breds. the gentleman who helped me with the food selection made a great pick as mr pickles enjoys the soft easy to chew grub very much . will be back when bag number 2 runs low. overall a solid pet store for your dog, cat, or whatever other pet you may have. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter. read more

Such a sweet store - you can tell the people who work there really care about the pets. I've been there twice, and I believe the man I spoke to both times is the manager(?) and he's so lovely. Lots of advice, but not pushy about it. Friendly, but I felt very unbothered while browsing. The store is clean, well-stocked, and even has a rewards program. Where do I begin? I was excited when they opened up near me- it's a little pricey, but the guy working there seemed nice, and helpful. (He hasn't been there for a long while) The manager, however, tried to guilt me into feeding my cats what they wanted me to buy. I found it rather annoying. I stopped going there. Today, I went out of desperation- but they didn't carry in store the flavor I needed- only in their warehouse. Ok, annoying, but whatever. The kicker is the woman who was working there today- I politely said excuse me I need help, 4x and she blatantly ignored me. Then, when I didn't get her help -the manager has to answer my questions. I was finally ready to check out, and the manager asked her to work the cash register- to which she ignored. He had to come up front to do it. So I told her she was rude, she didn't hear me, and I told her to her face again. She disagreed. No, honey. Don't work in a store you're too rude and stupid to handle it. I'm annoyed now. Some people shouldn't be in a place with customers involved. At all. I won't be going back to this store ever again. This Store is newly Opened and like any store, it will have it's bumps along the way. So far No Bumps for me. :) It has super friendly employees, great selection of foods. And Toys :) I am not sure if they do Trimming , etc for Pets. Will ask again another day. read more

Very glad this place is in the neighborhood! I must admit I do buy the majority of my pet supplies online in bulk for convenience, but I always come here if I want to try new products, run out of stuff or want a specific recommendation from an actual human being. Their prices are extremely comparable to online (within $1 or so). The staff are great, but if you need help the quality of information you get is dependent on the staff member. They are all really knowledgeable, nice and professional but I just feel like they each have very different opinions and ways of explaining things - not in a bad way, but just keep it in mind/take the advice with a grain of salt! Also they support and make donations to the local dog park, so they are truly a local business that cares about the community! read more

I used to live in sunnyside and they have always been my go to. They also offer a rewards system when you buy from them. So if you are someone like me who is always getting something for their pet. It's great. When all the points add up you get a nice lil discount. Now that I have moved to Astoria they also offer same day delivery. Great customer service is hard to come by nowadays, and the staff @ Wespaw sets the standard. Employee Michael was a great help in answering all of my questions (I had quite a few that day) and directing me to the proper products needed for my animal. I was just there today (but always here at least twice a month). Today I bought the last dining table for my dog Sandy yay! She loved it! Yes, she whispered to me! *:) I don't only buy supplies for the dog at this store but also for the rabbit. Yes, we have a dog and a rabbit and we are a happy family *:) They carry the best products not only for dogs and cats but also for my rabbit. Dell is very helpful, Sandy likes saying hello to him. I definitely vote this indie pet food one of the best pet stores in the area if not ... the city at this point. Lesson to businesses that I give 3 stars or less... The people here are so freaking nice. Every time I come here. EVERYTIME they take care of me and when I have anything on my mind they have an answer. You can tell by they way they treat the older folks with love and a genuine way of being a human to their customers. Love that! Wespaw Pets is my go-to local pet food store! Their prices are competitive with online sources and the store is clean, well organized and fresh smelling. I typically order my pet food and supplies online because it's just easier as delivered goods, but it's also nice to browse the aisles and pick up last minute items from this local gem. My cat sometimes gets bored with his wet food flavor, so it's easier to pick-up a smaller variety of flavors of my choice, rather than choosing the variety pack online. They do offer local delivery service too, so it's a fantastic alternative for that heavy cat litter! read more

Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. In particular, Rich always went out of my way and you can tell how much he loves dogs (and other animals). Delivery was at no cost and a life saver when I ordered sometimes 50 cans of dog food at a time rather than carry it all up 3 flights. Do you want to be treated like a human, but loved like your best pal dog or cat; then this is the place for you! I have never set foot in the store (but that is on my "To-Do list") but I have had the pleasure to speak on the phone with the staff. I spoke to a pharmacist when our newly adopted cat Cicero needed antibiotics and I do not recall her name. However, she did identify herself without me asking. I always see that as a sign of professionalism and feel the person takes pride in what they do. Then I met the delivery gentleman, who even though he was wearing a social distancing mask, I sensed his smile. Today, I spoke with Rich, the store manager. I encountered a minor glitch on the website. Rich called me back a few times to see if we could figure it all out. He actually called ME! Not one moment of a recorded "Your call is important to us!" In the end, we just did the transaction on the phone. Rich was great--so great I assumed he was the owner. When you see employees this good at their job and happy to help the customer, you KNOW the boss treats them well and with respect. We will be ordering more from WesPaw! I think it's about time to write a review after over 10 check-ins. They're so convenient; nearby from where I live, nearby the dog park, not a cramped up store so taking my dog is no problem, and the staff is friendly. I like how they have staff that actually know things about the products there and about dogs, unlike some Petcos and PetSmarts I've been to... where they knew nothing. What kinda sucks though is that maybe about 97% of the products don't have a pricetag, but that's okay, I mean you can always ask someone that works there. They won't bite. The pricing is reasonable, compared to Petco & PetSmart. Of course, sometimes Petco has the greater discount because of the rewards card they have, but not on any of the major things. Mostly just clothes and maybe some treats. They have a wide selection of holistic, grain-free, and natural foods for both dogs and cats. You won't find this stuff at the super market or Rite Aid! Believe me, you won't. From nail clippers to dental chews, doggie diapers to crates and bags. They have it all, pretty much. Check 'em out, you'll have over ten check-ins yourself~ **And I heard they have delivery when you spend $25 and over? That sounds pretty darn good. read more

I came in here on a Sunday afternoon. My first visit to a pet store with my new puppy Lola. First time dog owner I was nervous and confused. Put at ease as soon as I walked in! We went in several weeks ago for a crate in anticipation of our new arrival - the amazing Marley Pants from Muddy Paws Rescue. Not knowing exactly how big Marley was, we bought the last crate in the store, hoping it would do the trick. But sure enough, Marley arrived and she was just a tiny bit too big. Even though it was past the 7-day return policy, Mo graciously allowed us to exchange the crate for a larger size. This kind of friendly neighborhood service makes a HUGE difference in this city, where there are too many impersonal and apathetic merchants ready to take your money but could care less about your return business. I used to love coming in, getting a large bag of good quality food for my pooches, chatting with the guys and walking out. Since new management has come in, they NEVER, EVEEEERRRRRR have my dog food. They always have it in a smaller bag. I have come in MULTIPLE TIMES looking for my dog food in this size (my pooches have sensitive stomachs and this is the only food that agrees with them) and they always say "we will order it, we will order some extra bags". I come in, NO EXTRA BAGS. Nothing. And to boot, they say "we are under *new management* now so you'll get better service than with those other guys." Let me tell you something, dudes. YOU SUCK.
