Furry Paws has always been my go to for doggie merchandise. Today I was helping a friend looking for the booties for her dog for out in the cold and snow. The employee was so helpful showing me how they are packaged. She had various sizes for different breeds of dogs. It was listed on the package. They came in different colors made of a soft rubber and are disposable. She said she sells a lot of them for $19.99 a package. I left with a lot of information for my friend. It's up to her if she wants to get them or search online for a different style or price. I'm recommending Furry Paws if you live nearby. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THR CANNED CAT FOOD HERE! Not only it the price exorbitantly expensive but immediately after feeding my cat the RAWS canned cat food i bought here she immediately began vomiting and did not stop for 24 hours. I have fed her RAWS cat food all her life and have nothing but positive feedback for the brand. However, this was the first and last time i have ever bought RAWS from this pet store. The labels on the food were very loose and came off making me think they are re-labelling random cat food cans as trusted brands. If you care about your pets health and prefer to not clean up vomit 24/7 do not go here. read more

The clerks here are incredibly knowledgeable and have really helped me so much trying to treat my cat's stomach upset, which was going on for months. I think of the clerks here as like mini-vets. I stopped in to get a few toys for my new puppy today. Ive never been in the store so I was a bit excited, as I am new to the whole pet thing. As I'm walking the isles, I notice a huge white cat. Unfortunately, I am very afraid of cats. There seemed to have been one employee on staff. When I noticed the cat, I got a bit scared and was hesitant to walk in the isle. The sales rep asked me if I needed help, and I told him why I was there while mentioning that I was very afraid of the cat that was FOLLOWING ME! When the cat kept following me I freaked out and kind of pushed myself into a corner. The worker ignored me as I said, "excuse me, can you call the cat or come get him- i'm very afraid" With the worst attitude ever, he said "its the stores cat! he can't leave"... I then told him that I would leave since Im very afraid. This is when he said .. "So GO!" Although I may be a bit overly scared and the average person wouldn't have freaked out over a pet store's cat.. I think as a customer service representative, you should do all you can to make sure the client is satisfied and comfortable. Because I have a puppy, I do not necessarily have to like cats or want to be around them. The point is that I felt mistreated and I can't believe that people so rude can be put in positions to assist clients. I was actually going to make a purchase, and possibly continue to shop there since I live in the neighborhood... but never again. It doesn't help that the prices are a bit steep. I agree with the other reviewers; this place is pricey. It's the Upper East Side though, so what do you expect? Everything below 96th St is expensive- even grocery stores. I come here once a month to pick up a a large bag of dog food. Before I got my cart, I used their free delivery and they're always fast and reliable. If I'm extra busy I'll call in my order and pay by CC. When I moved to the area there were not many places that carried the brand of dog food I buy so Furry Paws was my only local option. Now Petco has it but they charge more than what I pay. I stick to Furry Paws for the kibble and buy everything else (treats, toys, shampoo, etc.) from Petland or dog.com. I'm not sure who the owner is but one time I came in with a coupon from their website (http://www.furrypawsnycinc.com/manhattan-pet-supplies.htm). The guy there said he can't accept it because it's most likely a fake. He then went on to tell me about all these people trying to cheat him with fake coupons...as if I was one of them. I had a serious wtf moment as I was trying to tell him that it was on their company website, but he wasn't having it. If I had an option for Solid Gold that was cheaper than this place I'd switch over in a heartbeat. read more

Gave them one star only because I had to. I called the store ahead of time because it's a 40min walk and confirmed they had what I needed. I get to the store and of course it's not there so I ask the associate at the counter who is definitely the woman I spoke to on the phone. She insists I get a bag of food I do not want and then when confronting her about how I called ahead for this specific brand and kind, she does not apologize and just says I don't have it and walks away. Extremely rude! Unfriendly and zero customer service skills. The store is also extremely dirty and probably has rats running around. I live around the corner or would never go here. The owner himself is quite obnoxious and rude--refused my credit card once for a small order even as I've spent thousands here. He hires like- minded rude staff, who can hardly be bothered with questions--with the exception of Frank, who is great but rarely there. The other complaint--overpriced-- and since they don't mark prices anywhere on the shelf they have to look it up in a book and these prices change daily. Also, and I do believe this is illegal, the cash register is hidden from view I mean even if you lean way over the counter and whip your head around, you cannot see it, so you really don't know what they're ringing up. They also have a crummy selection of collars and coats. Oh yeah, bought my dog some of the raw food in the freezer,, she loved it and got very sick for days afterward....vet suspected the raw food....when I explained they have a great reputation (Stella and Chewy's) he said "yeah but it depends how it is handled." I find all of the staff to be extremely helpful. My dog has a sensitive stomach and I am so happy that they carry Stella and Chewys. The woman at the front desk also recommended other natural brands based on my dogs dietary restrictions. I've come here a few times to pick up items for my cat. They have a very wide selection of cat food (both wet and dry) to pick from, and have a lot of premium brands. The store is clean and well organized. The customer service is quite friendly if the store isn't too busy. I would give 4 stars, but I find the prices to be a bit high. I come here to pick up premium wet food to reward my cat on occasion, but typically stick to online ordering for my cat's daily diet. read more

I went to this store today to pick up some threats for my puppy-nobody was in there. I was calling out "hello" but no answer. At all. I found it very rude,so i left. That was my last time there. The staff gets nastier and nastier every time. They act like they are doing a favour. You basically have to serve yourself. And they sell threats by piece!!!Other stores would give you a piece of threat to your dog when you go in even if you don't buy anything. My dachsen would not leave a store without getting her threat so in this one i always have to buy some. They have a great selection of products. They are a bit pricey, but sometimes for the higher quality things, you need to spend a little more money. Those are the ONLY positive things I can say about this store. Or maybe it's just this location, I don't know. I bought food from them, my dog got sick, I noticed the food was expired (yes, she went to the vet) and the worker was SO rude to us. He insulted us in front of other customers *I, unfortunately, have to say that I stayed polite throughout it. Extremely Pricey.. The only reason I come here is because I live in the same building and they are right below my window. Owner as stated by others can be somewhat of a prick, and they don't accept cards for anything under $15, so if you need to pick up something small for your pet, bring cash! The cat which they let freely roam around the store jumps out of no where and also damages some of their bags of food in the store, so make sure you check the packaging before leaving! read more

Looks like this place took some hits a couple of years ago but I moved to the area a little over a year ago and have been going there regularly. My experience has always been pleasant. The staff is always friendly and helpful. When I bring my dogs with me, it is pretty obvious they love animals. The prices are in line with other pet stores in the area. They have a very good selection of quality foods and treats and are happy to order what you need if they don't have it. I will continue to go there for as long as I live in the neighborhood. read more

A manager has to be crazy to treat customers this way. I have never gone online to review a store, but the way my wife and I were treated made sure that this would be my first. I went to buy a coat for my puppy, and when my wife realized that it was too small, she took it back to see if we could exchange it for a different size. The owner said that was fine, and after realizing that he didnt have a larger coat, told her to come back tomorrow and he'd have another coat sent from a branch in the 70's. He said that he would not be there the next day, but took down my wife's information in this notebook that they keep at the counter. He told my wife to ask the person behind the counter to read his note and help us to exchange the coat. We were very impressed at this point, however, I went back the next day and was told that the coat was not there, and that they do not ship inventory to and from different branches because they are under-staffed. I then asked him if he could check the notebook for the note his boss had left for him. He flatly refused saying that he had checked the book that morning and there was nothing in there. I told him that my wife had seen the owner write her information in the notebook the day before, and he got very defensive when he realized he was caught in that lie. He then started telling me that I was a liar, I wasn't his boss, and needed to stop ordering him around (what?). He refused to open the book in front of me the entire time I was there, and eventually by the grace of god I was able to get store credit from him. I'm not sure if I was more shocked at the way he acted or at the fact that this store still has customers. I will NEVER go back there. I too would rather let a Frenchie gnaw off my arm before giving these people my money. Too bad, the owner seemed nice. His manager = douchebag of the year! read more

Super Cindy knows everything and does everything with great efficiency and good cheer. My cat eats a special, frozen, raw diet that has to be kept frozen and is a pain to handle. Cindy always makes sure to have some on hand for me and it is always delivered promptly. This is my first yelp complaint and readers... I don't care how much further your walk is... Go to another pet store. We've given this place a chance multiple times and it always fails. The employees are some of the rudest, laziest, and unhelpful people I have deal with in terms of pet stores. Additionally, the selection is mediocre and overpriced. First off, be sure you want the item because goodness forbid you need to return or exchange and item its the largest hassle. ( Speaking of which, Petco on 86th is has an excellent return policy). The cashier gave me such attitude when I returned something for store credit. Then later in the week when I decide to use the credit was even more rude than the first time. Zero customer service offered. He immediately rung up the items without any eye contact. When I said I had store credit yelled at me to tell me I was required initially to tell him I was using credit. He then refused to void the transaction. It was appalling to see someone try so hard to not make a sale. We have a lot of friends locally with pets and will not be recommending. read more

I have had the best experience buying my puppies supplies at Furry Paws, whenever I am there the store manager gives me the best recommendations for dogs' foods and other products. I have met the store cat Arnold and he is very friendly with my toy poodles. Every time I have ordered something by phone I am always greeted nicely and I get the stuff right away, the delivery guy is very pleasant when I have not had any cash to tip him. Prices are right for the Upper East side, besides they carry high quality products for pets. I read some of the reviews and it really disgusts me how this person refers to the sales person as "Hispanic" it is so obvious that she has some kind of prejudice against Latin people and that is probably what motivates her to lie! I have been a client of Furry Paws for the last 8 years and had never experienced any kind of rude behavior from anyone at the store. What a shame that people feel the need to make up stories just because they are bitter and hateful. read more

Needed dog food and noticed this store was closest to my house. Walk in the store. There is a small Hispanic man bringing pet supplies into the store. There is a girl behind the register with dirty blonde disheveled hair. No one spoke to me. Walked down the dog aisle, walked down the cat aisle, and let my dog drink water. Saw the Hispanic man a second time, placing cat food in boxes on the ground. Still, not a peep. No one coughed, no one seemed to breath in this store. What a shame. So when this store finally closes and the owners complain that no one supported their store, they can simply turn to the employees. Who will probably still be staring into space, in their own world. Window displays usually look empty and the other day I passed by and it was way over done. Pretty cheesy looking. It actually looks like a 99 cent store or something!
