This is my favorite little pet shop. They have everything I need for my pup and a very friendly team of dog lovers. Everytime we go in, Frankie gets a very warm welcome and, of course, a treat. We can't even walk past the shop anymore without him pulling me to the door. We've gotten everything from his collar and his halter to his toys and dog food here. Before making stops in here, I would probably just get most of my dog things from a big box store like PetSmart but I love that I get to shop local and support a great shop like this. The best part? The thing that reminded me to finallyyyyy write my rave review?? The owner got dressed up as Santa one chilly Saturday a week or so ago and took photos with the pups in Hoboken! It is every dog parents dream that they didn't know they had. They even printed out photos for free and put them in a cute little envelope for us to take home. It was so wonderful and hysterical and was just the cutest little way to start the day. They've always been a favorite shop but they just easily took the #1 stop. read more

On Day 9 of my vacation as I visited a very dear friend for the Christmas and New Year holidays, we ventured out into Hoboken for some exploration which eventually landed us at Hoboken Pet after lunch nearby at Bareburger in the city's downtown area. Earlier during this vacation, we bought a Kong squeaker ball for my friend's furbaby which he eventually decimated within 24 hours. His disappointed face said it all although he continued to play with it until we had to throw it away for his safety. I felt bad and wanted to get a replacement toy that hopefully lasted longer. Would this visit result in a new squeaker ball that wouldn't get broken by this pet!? PURCHASE Chuckit! Ultra Squeaker Ball ($7.99): This rubberized dog toy appeared to be much sturdier than the previous enlarged tennis ball version I bought days ago which was destroyed. This was the last one they had on display, so I snapped it up - after I got the furbaby's approval - and couldn't wait to give it to him to play with once we got home. Initially, everything looked positive as he wouldn't stop playing with it, wanted us to incessantly play toss with him, and basically chased it around wherever it rolled. Then, we heard the sound of an unmistakable pop and our fears were realized... his chompers punctured a hole into the ball - dammit! This one only lasted hours, so we had to pry it out of his mouth so he didn't do more damage and possibly tear off and eat a piece. As we waited behind another customer, another gentleman graciously gave the black beast a treat which he devoured. With receipt and ball in-hand, we were headed on our way home - easy-peasy. PARKING (Varied; N/A in this instance) We walked, so parking wasn't an issue. I didn't notice any private lots; however, there appeared to be plenty of metered spots along the main drag of Washington St. and all surrounding streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A small store fully stocked with various pet products from clothing, collars, food, harnesses, toys, etc., which covered nearly every conceivable inch from floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall with some shelves in the middle of the layout. Everything was visibly labeled as the store carried both national and regional brands. Decent natural lighting came through the large front windows and door while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. And, it was always a pleasure to support small local mom & pop businesses like this one. Mike is one of the best in the pet store business. He carries EVERYTHING under the sun and has so much pet care knowledge it's crazy! He can help with wound care to diet needs to sizing coats. Probably my favorite local pet store honestly. There's 1 local pet store closer to me but I'd rather drive an extra 10 minutes to come here. Good selection, good service and a fair pricing for the quality. Sometimes they have a box of primal freeze dried nuggets that they sell 2 for $10 which is a REALLY good price so def grab 1 or 2 for your cat or dog. Great local pet supply store where the manager of the store Mike is kind, generous and really care about pets and is very knowledgeable. They carry all variety of supplies for all pets. Highly recommend the wonderful local shop!! Love visiting them. I lost my 16 year old pup recently but the store was one of her favorite spots and often she took me there. read more

Friendly and well stocked. They always have what we need for our pup and we love bringing her in because she's always given a treat at be counter. Our pet food isn't the easiest to find and Hoboken Pet always stocks it and in multiple sizes. Hours are decent and counter guys are always accommodating. Above and beyond expectations! Today I found myself in a possible crappy situation. (Pun intrnded) Changing my litter boxes I went into the closet to grab my new bag to fill the pan....OH NO!!!! Empty pan, no litter...never fear, hoboken pet to the rescue. I could not go to pick up the litter and they delivered to my door, ok so whats the big deal....they deliver. My obstacle is a bad back that I injured and cannot lift anything at the moment. The delivery was made and I thanked the man for the service. He asked if I was ok, noticing my pain. In a world where .com has completely disrupted brick and mortar sales, I see why this continues to happen after my experience at Hoboken Pets this morning, and why I decided to leave the store and purchase online. Walked in store and said, "Hi, I was referred by ________ of (well known dog walking service in HBKN). I need a harness for my dog." The sales associate replied, "In the back to the right." It would have been nice to have help in sizing and seeing the selections from his insight, but the associate was more focused on handling stock than an actual customer in the store. After looking at the selection and noticing that I was going to be left to my own to choose myself, I sized my dog myself and then quickly saw that amazon.com had the same exact harness for $6 less. Why should I give a small business my business when they show zero interest? As I left the store without making any purchase, the sales associate did not engage with me at all. Wait, there are NO PETS here! Thanks, Obama! Much like everything in Hoboken, this store is an ostentatious misnomer. They don't even have bird food, if I'm honest (at least not the kind I'd feed to actual birds). This place, then, is designed for the kind of gents that carry their canine companion in a designer purse, or engineer a habitat for their cat that rivals the size of lower manhattan. This is the best pet store I have ever been to. We are getting a new puppy and the owner and other employees were so knowledgeable and helpful. Initially we were planning on purchasing items online but we walked away with everything we needed for our brand new cockapoo. We walked away after our visit saying how this will be our pet store going forward. The experience was so much more personable than ordering online or going to a pet smart. The guys who run this store aren't just kind, helpful and genuinely caring about pets -- they're tremendously knowledgeable and can advise you on a whole range of pet-ish issues, too. The prices for most everything in here are high -- you can get it all considerably cheaper through Amazon, or in some cases even at the Shoprite in the northwest part of town -- but frankly, the people here are so nice and so clearly passionate about their store that I feel compelled to support them. (And compared to the other pet boutique stores in Hoboken, they charge competitively.) We moved to Chicago, but were lucky to come back to the area for the holidays for an extended time. Popped in yesterday, the night after the snowstorm, and Jairo was right there and so nice and helpful! I was looking for cat litter and he went straight to the back of the store and asked if I was looking for anything specific. They had a great selection, and Feline Pine in two sizes. I opted for the larger 20 lb. size as my husband was waiting outside, and he didn't let me carry it--brought it all the way to the register, held it as I paid, and then went all the way to my husband and waited until he was all set to carry it! Great selection of whatever you may need, and I'm sure they'd be helpful in ordering or referring you elsewhere if they don't have it. I came by to buy my dog a coat, I was asking him (the owner I believe) if he could help me with sizes since my dog is large and a bit of a chubster, first coat he gave me fit perfectly on him and said that its on special and gave me a few details from where it was from and why its a good coat. I always bought my dog's food and treats here, until I found little black bugs in one of my dog's rawhide treats. I bought 20 rolled rawhide bones with the bully sticks inside them when they were on sale. The owner acknowledged that the rawhides were months past their "sell by" date, but assured me they were fine for the dog to eat. Keep in mind - the owner is also a certified pet nutritionist, so I trusted his expertise. Today, my dog was chewing on one of those rawhides, and I saw some black specks on the floor. After closer inspection, I realized they were bugs. I took the bone from him and saw more bugs inside the rawhide (see the attached photos). I called the owner and his response was, "Throw it out." When I asked why he assured me the bones were fit for consumption, he told me, "This can happen with any animal product. It's normal." Today was my first time in Hoboken Pet. I went there because my dog ended up becoming allergic to the food I was giving him so I went there to pick out a new kind. The owner (I believe the owner) helped me for at least 20-25 mins reading ingredients and comparing what he could possibly be allergic to. Finally after picking out his new food, he could tell I was nervous to try it. He was so positive that this food was the right food for my dog that he gave it to me for free!! I lived in Hoboken for over 28 years when I first walked into this store and showed him my dog he feel in loved with my American Bully. and how I breed dogs for ABKC shows and UKC he didn't look at me in a strange way like some people. I even asked him what he recommended n he gave me this dog food that was made from Italy for skin and digestive problems so I brought a bag I walked out and walked back in n brought two more bags right away he didn't force me to buy it like some stores he even gave me a bag to try fist I offered to pay for it but he said no that I will be back. I sure enough did I went to him and I told him the dog food I was using was called bully max that I didn't like for my dog and he sat down and broke it done to me what was in it I was shocked now all my dogs are eating the food he helped me find.......... I always come here to get cat food. The selection of pet food is amazing and they have more healthy products and toys for cats than any other store around. It's nice to see that they have free treats for dogs and a bowl of water for the thirsty pups outside. TThe gentleman who owns this store is also a dog nutritionist. I adopted a dog in June who had a number of issues from patches of missing fur to ball aggression. Every visit to the store he gave me free advice that worked every time and always gave my dog treats and lots of tlc. His prices are the best in town and he has a great variation of food and toys. I love that he knows the names of every dog that comes into the store too. I had one of those running water fountains for my cat at home that broke a few months back. He offered to fix it for me even though I didn't buy it there. All around this store is a great neighborhood place filled with a caring staff and excellent value. read more

We adore shopping in this store with our Bully. Anytime we walk in the area he pulls to go in and play with the owner and staff. It is always difficult to find toys for our little guy because he has such a strong jaw. Luckily, the staff at cornerstone recommended his favorite indestructible toy the ultimate bone. I came here last week and bought some Christmas toys for my friends' and family's (and my own dog & cat as well). Prices were much more reasonable than I had expected and the toys were all great quality. I was hesitant, however, to buy treats due to a previous Yelp review I read where there were bugs in a dog raw hide treat. The store was clean and I didn't see any of this though I wasn't looking. The man at the front desk wasn't as friendly towards me as other reviews have mentioned - maybe it was a different person?
