This is one of the best and definitely my favorite neighborhood pet stores. I come here at least twice a month to get CBD oil and treats for my dogs as well as seasonal treats. They have the cutest cookies to celebrate holidays! I also love their little treat bar by the window that has cod and salmon skin rolls! They also carry fresh dog food as well as ice cream! Amazing. We've been shopping here for our dog for years now, and I wouldn't change a thing. The staff are all so kind, and they do special events around the holidays, and even get in seasonal merchandise (like toys, treats, and costumes/shirts). They have a good selection of higher end (better for you/all natural) treats and supplements as well as food (dry wet and frozen) for your dog or other furry friend. I remember when we first got our pup a few years ago, and we originally wanted to buy everything online (thinking the pricing would be better). From a food standpoint, they're comparable, or within a few dollars (and when it comes to a $30-$50 bag of food, that's not bad), so we shop here to support our local business. Plus aside from the fact that they know her name and give her belly rubs, they put a pool out with toys an umbrella and chair for them to cool off in the summer. They all know her name (and ours), and it's just such a nice place to feel that sense of community. If you're local, shop local for your pet-there are a few other pet stores in Hoboken, but this one is by far the best (well maintained, vet selection, etc). I am really appreciative of the measures Cornerstone Pets has taken to ensure the safety of their customers, employees and the community during the pandemic. They consistently enforce a policy in which only 3 customers are allowed into the shop at once. My dog doesn't like to take walks unless it's to Cornerstone - she looks forward to our weekly trip there and the beef tips at the counter. Great store with the best service. While others shop in box box stores Cornerstone provides amazing service and is always there for their customers. A great example is tonight we once again ran out of dog food after 6pm. Not a problem for a cornerstone. A bag is on its way. This has happened at least 10 times in 4 years. Other times they called us to schedule a delivery because they knew we didn't order in a specified time. Store also has great gifts and lots of great pets stuff. One of the first things I knew I had to find after moving to Hoboken was a great pet shop. I had 2 or 3 great pet stores in Chicago that set a pretty high bar and I was a little nervous I wouldn't find a place here that cut the mustard. Three minutes in Cornerstone quelled all my fears. They have a humongous supply of everything you could possibly need for your dog: toys, treats, collars, and high-end foods. I go here for all of my pet related needs. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Excellent selection with an array of seasonal offerings (including attire and decor). At the counter you'll find beautifully decorated dog biscuits (and "human treats" too don't worry!). I bought one a while back for a friend who just adopted a dog, and they said he gobbled it up! Boy, was I buying my scorkie the wrong toys! They sell interactive toys here, specifically the busy buddy (I think, that's what it's called!) chew toy/treat. Instead of giving my pup stuffed animals to tear apart, this chew toy is a way better alternative. I like their variety of dog accessories, as well. Oh, and I also found the best 2-in-1 rosemary and mint Shampoo+Conditiner here!! read more

We always come here for our cat supplies. They are all so incredibly nice and helpful. When we rescued our kitten, they helped walk through all the different food options and what would be best for her. They also deliver which is a huge plus! Truly the nicest pet store. read more

When we first got our Cavalier everyone said go to Cornerstone and they will help you in getting the right food, toys, shampoo everything. As new "parents" we really didn't understand that there was a big difference between TV ad dog food and real quality dog food. The staff at Cornerstone was so helpful and answered all our questions. They are always busy and filled with dogs but don't let that intimidate you, you got a question, any question (and we've asked some dumb ones) just ask, they will gladly answer. I think maybe the 2 reviewers not happy with Cornerstone might have gone when they were swamped and staff was really busy... answering people's questions and ringing up orders... That's the only thing I can think of. We've been going there for 15 months now, never had a problem. The owner, Jeff, is there working all the time. If something's not right, tell him. He's a cool, laid back guy. Maybe he can help. Casey, our dog, just loves the place! When we get to Washington and 9th he freaks out and pulls like crazy towards the store!! It's funny! read more

The only dog store I can find that sells halloween costumes! Got my pooch the cutest superdog outfit! This is a really nice pet store on 9th street, very local, and community based, and has very helpful and friendly staff members. They are pricey, of course! But worth it. They have really nice clothes, toys, food, and everything else you need. We bought a nice dog bed (pad really), a cute sweater to keep warm in this winter weather, and a little tiny harness (actually for a ferret, but it fits our small dog). My puppy LOVES Cornerstone!! When we go for a walk, if we come within a 2 block radius of Cornerstone, he makes every effort to try to divert our path so we have to go past Cornerstone and stop in...sometimes just for a free treat and to say hello to the staff. They also have a water dish outside and inside to hydrate my pooch. Great selection of top brand dog foods & toys as well as some great varieties of bones that my guy really likes too. The staff is knowlegable and friendly. The one draw back is that the space is pretty small so if there is more than 2 other customers in the store it can get a bit clustered. Slightly overpriced. You can get the same dog food in Manhattan for $5 less. That means a round trip PATH train on top of dog food in the city practically equals buying your dog food at Cornerstone. This place pretty much has your everyday necessities like food, treats health products. Nothing to rave about, but the reason I gave 2 stars is for the customer service. I said hello when I walked in and no one even turned around to acknowledge me. No one asked if I needed help, and when I left I said "have a good day" and again was ignored. They are super knowledgeable about food and pretty much anything in regards to animals. The workers here are amazing! Friendly and extremely knowledgeable about everything. My girlfriend just moved to Hoboken and we discovered the store as we were walking our dog. Figured we would check it out and see what they have. We ended up buying a harness because our boston terrier has sensitive skin and the current one he had was rubbing his sides a lot. They showed us all the softest harness they have. They explained all the pros and cons of each one and took the time to adjust each harnesses for a perfect fit. We were even allowed to leave the store and go on a test walk! The workers dog had a similar problem and told us he goes to this pharmacy down the road to buy moleskin to wrap the harness straps with. I usually buy my dogs stuff on amazon because it's cheaper but the worker was so helpful and informative there was no way I could leave and buy it else where. I forgot to get his name but will update the review once I find out. They also have a wide variety of frozen and freeze dried raw foods which is awesome. read more

I visited this store over the weekend and did not have a good experience like everyone else. First of all they were not all that friendly or helpful it seemed like I was bothering them when asking for the food I needed. When I found it and went to the cash register I was shocked to say the least. The food was MUCH more expensive. I understand I am supporting the smaller business and paying for convenience and I usually purchase at a chain so I somewhat understood. The woman did not offer to even take off a little bit and made the excuse that they are not a chain. A few minutes later I went to another pet store in Hoboken, which is not a chain, and they were only a $1 more than the chain I visit. I understand the small business and supporting them but not when you are being taken advantage of. All she had to do was take a $1 or $2 off and not made such a lame excuse and I would have understood and she could have gotten my future business. But for being greedy and getting $9 more than anywhere else she lost my future purchases for a lot more than just food and word of mouth of my friends and other pet owners. read more
