Amazing. We've been shopping here for our dog for years now, and I wouldn't change a thing. The staff are all so kind, and they do special events around the holidays, and even get in seasonal merchandise (like toys, treats, and costumes/shirts). They have a good selection of higher end (better for you/all natural) treats and supplements as well as food (dry wet and frozen) for your dog or other furry friend. I remember when we first got our pup a few years ago, and we originally wanted to buy everything online (thinking the pricing would be better). From a food standpoint, they're comparable, or within a few dollars (and when it comes to a $30-$50 bag of food, that's not bad), so we shop here to support our local business. Plus aside from the fact that they know her name and give her belly rubs, they put a pool out with toys an umbrella and chair for them to cool off in the summer. They all know her name (and ours), and it's just such a nice place to feel that sense of community. If you're local, shop local for your pet-there are a few other pet stores in Hoboken, but this one is by far the best (well maintained, vet selection, etc). And if you're not super close, they deliver too!

My dog loves when we stop at cornerstone for a snack mid-way through our walk. They're dog lovers with a great selection of treats and toys.

Before I address the haters, I want to say this place is my top choice for a local fish store. John…read moreand all of the crew greet me with warmth and casual professionalism everytime I walk through their doors. Now if you are still on the fence about coming here due to some people questioning the durability of MA's fish with them getting sick" within a day or two after bringing home" or that "Selling sick fish is unacceptable". Let me ease your mind. Yes, fish do get sick sometimes. That is always unfortunate. It is also sometimes out of a LFS's control at times. Pathogens, parasites and protozoa are always present in aquaculture. Symptoms may remain dormant or negligible and cannot be detected from a glance. Hence it is why we in the hobby quarantine new fish, not just for diseases we can see but also those we cannot. However sickness can sometimes not be preventable. Something you CAN prevent is a massacre of your whole tank by simply QUARANTINING YOUR FISH. If you allow time to do its thing you will most definitely know whether or not any action needs to be taken. Simply dumping new fish into established tanks just means " I dont care about my fish", " If they die its not my fault since I didnt know they were sick". Now alot of people in this hobby are beginners and thats great! Just learn to ask for help. If help is coming from a person who "pretended he didn't understand what I was saying", GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. There's this pretty neat place call the internet. Oh? you're on it now? WOW! SEE look at that! Not so Hard right? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! :) All in all, sorry for the rant. It is just frustrating to see such a good and hard working establishment come under fire from people who dont do their research and go "oh no, the consequences of my actions" when they screw up. K Bye ;)

Very disappointed. I've been buying fish from this store for years, but the prices have become…read moreridiculously high, and the livestock quality has clearly gone downhill. Last week I bought several fish here, and they turned out to have ich. Within just a few days, every one of them died, and worse, the disease spread to other fish in my tank. This ended up costing me far more than just the fish I bought from the store. Selling sick fish is unacceptable, especially from a store that specializes in aquarium livestock. Longtime customers should not have to worry about bringing disease home from a fish store. After this experience, I seriously question their fish health standards and whether they are properly monitoring the condition of the fish they sell.

After we met some friends for lunch, on our walk back to my friend's place, Rasputin decided to direct us towards and eventually into Jersey City Heights' Fussy Friends Pet Supply Central Ave. location. I've been to their downtown Newark Ave. location and somehow had no idea this closer location existed even though I've walked by it numerous times. Pet stores in general were always fun places to go into especially if you had your furry family friend with you. On this first visit, would our furry fussy family friend come way with an assortment of pet supplies!? PURCHASE Kong Squirrel Squeaky Toy ($15.99): A completely impulse buy for my shared pandemic lil black beast. He had more than enough toys and hardly played with any except for a handful of them. He loved to chase squirrels in the park, on walks, and in the backyard, so I thought he'd get a kick out of this. Nope; he preferred the real thing - oh well! Nulo Freestyle Wet Food 5.5oz Can ($2.99 x3): This had become his favorite wet food brand, and it was recently his birthday, so I figured to spoil and treat him a bit. As expected, he lapped every bit of it up! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=HMWEryeSakVH8EvPyVnV0A SERVICE We only saw a lone friendly woman behind the register as she handled customers before it was our turn. Although we didn't have any intentions of buying anything, it was hard to deny the doggie. She easily and quickly rang us up, and we were off on our way - woof! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) We walked, so this wasn't an issue. However, I didn't notice any private lots or structures but there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drag of Central Ave. and all surrounding streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A small store filled wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with a plethora of pet products of both well-known and small brands placed on the floor and shelves. It was a bit cramped for my liking as they definitely maximized every inch of square footage. Decent natural lighting came through the large front windows and door while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while Top-40 music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=FK1sYVVpRkQYMuuViu_wnA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Fussy Friends Pet Supply Jersey City Heights' Central Ave. location was cool and a nice option for your pet needs, but I felt the product inventory and selection were a bit lagging probably due to the size of the store (at least they had the wet food he liked). In addition, I didn't know if they provided other services such as grooming, training, and the like. I guess I was more used to the major chains of Petco and PetSmart along with some of the places in my hipsterhood neighborhood back home. The prices and service were fine. And, it was always a pleasure to support small local mom & pop businesses like this one. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Well supplied pet store! I'm glad I decided to explore Central Ave a little longer today!read more
