Our senior pug Martin started coming to Urban Dog for day care after Bow Wow abruptly shut its doors. Jamie was very accommodating setting Martin up for a trail half day of daycare and we've been using their daycare services ever since. Martin does full days, half days, and has spent the night there once. Unlike Bow Wow, Urban Dog is setup in the basement of a brownstone. The dogs are all together and they are able to come and go into the outdoor courtyard as they wish. They have several couches that the dogs can play or rest on, which Martin really enjoys. We never have an issue scheduling a day care visit last minute. Jamie and the other workers look out for Martin since he's an old deaf pup that just needs a cozy spot to chill. read more

I brought my dog Cally in for a basic bath package last Saturday 1/15 in Hoboken location. We waited almost 3 hours since drop off. I tried calling multiple times after the 2 hour mark to see if she was ready, but no one picked up. I finally went there to see what was going on and found out she wasn't going to be ready in another 30 minutes and when she was done, she was still wet....I was also charged $65 when she is a 40 pound dog with very short hair. A week later, she is shedding more than what she typically sheds. That never happened with other groomers. I was not happy with the service and professionalism. Rather than being apologetic, they responded in a very defensive way. " Hi there, Sorry to hear about the experience. The standard grooming time is 2-3 hours per dog, with weekends being the busiest time. Our phones are very busy, sorry you could not get through. I just checked and only two calls were missed on Saturday. We always call the owner when the pup is ready so that you do not have to wait. This is standard procedure for all grooming salons in the area. $65 is the correct charge for a Large dog who is getting a bath and basics package. What did you think the charge would be? 40 pounds is considered a large dog. Have you called around to the other grooming studios/salons in the area? Including Pet Smart? Our prices are very reasonable compared to the others in the area. Dogs will shed after their baths. This is normal. Unless you are on a deshedding schedule every month will you start to notice a difference. And STILL dogs will shed." Never coming back here again. It's also such a mess there! read more

Great place. Sanitary, efficient, kind. I'm going to be honest, the open layout causes for some hectic playtimes but the staff handle all the dogs great, even though many of very very excited!! My dog loves coming here for grooming appointments. They do great with nail trims also. My dogs nails have never been so short EVER. read more

My first appt went as smooth as ever! I was in need of a last minute appt for my older dog and they were able to get me in same day only two hours later! A groomer was able to come in last minute so some appointments opened up. The front door isn't marked with a sign or anything but you can see in to the groomer through the window. The staff was very friendly and understood everything I was looking for. They don't crate or cage the dogs and I think it also operates as a daycare so my dog loved that freedom. They were done in about 2.5 hours and checkout was very simple. The price was way better than I expected in Hoboken ($85 for a medium dog with everything included) and she just emailed me my receipt. We took our puppy here for his first grooming. They did warn me that they would only be able to do what the puppy would allow them to do and to be honest, completely expected. I dropped him off around 3:30pm and they told me they close at 7pm. It was 6:30pm and they still hadn't called me to come pick him up. I just showed up around 6:45pm and he had been just hanging out with all the other dogs because apparently they also dog sit during the day? I was also horrified by the haircut and it took 4 months for his face hairs to grow back. I showed them a photo of what I was looking for and told them to please not cut too much off his head. Well...they shaved down his snoot and all around his eyes and told me they couldn't touch any of the hairs on his body because he bit the groomer. BIT THE GROOMER? I have never known my dog to ever be aggressive towards anyone or any dog so it was a real shock to hear this. It pretty much led me to believe they weren't treating my dog with the kind of TLC I would expect since he was just a little guy at the time. Needless to say, we never went back. read more

After three attempts to secure an appointment with this business - leaving messages, calling back and eventually talking to the owner, I found a customer service focused groomer in nearby Jersey City. On the last attempt, I was told that the groomer was completely booked up for weeks and to call back in one month? I told the owner that she could call me when she had an opening. With dogs everywhere you look in HBKN and businesses going out all the time, with the lack of business ethic, there are other groomers that answer your calls promptly and provide a terrific service. This isn't one of those groomers. Look elsewhere. read more

Hands down best groomer I've ever taken my dogs to. The owners are so loving and caring and treat all clients, human and k-9, as if they were part of their family. My dog has bad anxiety and the owners always went out of their way to calm my dog down and make her feel safe. They will post pictures to Facebook and you can tell they genuinely care about the dogs they are taking car of. Owners and groomers care for the wellbeing of pets and will never use razors that are too hot (in other words your pet will NOT get razor burn going here). Best hair cut my dog's ever had. I tried to call Fuzzbutz to make a grooming appt for my two dogs this past Monday. I called during their normal business hours, but there was no answer so I left a message. I called again on Tuesday, still no one answered. By Wednesday, I still haven't received a call back, so I called again that evening. The receptionist told me I would have to call back again tomorrow because they are currently under construction so they are unsure of what their hours will be. I am trying to give you my business! By far the best! Bailey loves going there and wiggles with excitement every time he walks in the door. Who can say that about their dog knowing they are getting groomed? It's the best environment anyone could ask for when leaving their furry baby. They play all day- NO CAGES!!! Once they are all tired they get groomed. Plus he sleeps the entire ride home and night. I first heard of Fuzzy Butz from a random woman on the street who stopped me to ask about my dog. She recommended FB as a grooming service. I tried them and they are AMAZING. They don't use any restraints and are entirely cage-free. After a grooming session, I started my dog there for daycare once a week and couldn't be happier. If I could afford to bring my dogs every day for daycare, I would because they absolutely love it. All of the dogs they have for daycare are well-tempered and well-mannered. There is no one better than Fuzzybutz. My dog has been going to get groomed by Vicki for 7 years, and even though we've moved out of Hoboken, I drive back into town as no one else comes close to doing as good of a job or making my dog comfortable. While some groomers crate your dog all day when it's not their turn, Vicki and Joann have created the most welcoming environment for the dogs - there's a sofa, dog beds, a tv, open back yard area - you walk in and it's like all the dogs are having a party. They're all SO HAPPY. The customer service - they are the 2 nicest ladies you'll ever meet. They feel like family we've known them so long and they're always so accommodating to our schedule to take our dog when we neglect him for a groom/bath. And the price! So many groomers are just shave happy and charge you an arm and a leg but Fuzzybutz is so reasonable. We've been stopped on the street when we lived in Hoboken at least a dozen times with people freaking out about how great our dog looks/where do you get him groomed - they really do a fabulous job. I always feel so relaxed knowing Brody will have an awesome time playing with his doggy pals when I drop him off at Fuzzybutz. For me, I'd happily sacrifice groom quality for the process to be cage-free, but at Fuzzybutz I don't have to - the groom is absolutely beautiful! I was glad to hear they don't use cages or restraints of ANY kind, not even on the grooming table.
