We took our dog Fig here for her first puppy groom one year ago and have been going back every 3 months ever since. They did an awesome job of introducing her to haircuts as a puppy and while she started out nervous with some excitement issues, each time we've seen a noticeable improvement with how she behaves. The groomers are patient and skilled, we are yet to have a haircut we didn't love. Shorter summer cut, more custom winter cut, you name it they're consistent. Our pup always comes home happy. Yes a little more pricey compared to some other groomers in town but it is worth the extra cost. read more

Highly recommend Be Happy Dog to everyone! I have been taking my dog Callie there ever since she was a puppy and have always had a great experience. MJ and the staff are wonderful so I know my dog is in good hands when she is dropped off. I've heard of awful stories of dogs being left at the groomer for a full day but they are always so quick so that Callie doesn't need to spend too much time there. Needed a new groomer for my mini Aussie and I called to see their availability and to my surprise the owner had an opening same day which was great! They require up to date vaccination but are flexible, if need be. The workers were very attentive when I was telling them what I wanted for my dog. The owner is an extremely aggressive person with no regard in how she speaks to you. She threatened to shave my puppy when she started trying to put her comb through his thick dry hair.All she could repeat was the dog was matted and how much more time and money it would cost. This was a lie. The dog had 4 knots and had been recently groomed.I also bought a specialty brush and brush all 9 pounds of him every other day. She was accusing me of negligence of my dog and shouted remarks in front of others. Truly embarrassing Please avoid her at all costs. ! Rude and disrespectful. My favorite groomers! I handed over my Havanese in rough condition - big mats close to the skin, uneven coat from me attempting to snip mats out, his beard was stained, dry brittle coat, etc. I also explained he has sensitive skin, too. Be Happy Dog listened to everything and were so careful with him, for the first time his skin isn't irritated at ALL after a groom!! They worked the mats away from his skin so they could keep him longer and fluffier for me, and they shaped his face and tail so SO cute. They got the stains out of his beard as well, and my favorite part?? They kept his long beautiful eyelashes. Usually they always are cut off during the groom; I'm so pleased and happy to see them! Groomer will lie and tell you your dog is matted and that they have to shave him/her because they want to charge you extra. When I dropped my dog off she tried to demonstrate that he's matted by pretending to brush him and saying the brush wouldn't move through his fur. I brush him daily. I asked for clean feet and my pup has razor burn. They cut THREE of his nails to the quick. My dog was traumatized and I will never be back. Had a great experience with getting my dogs nails cut. Our groomer went the extra mile to make sure my dog was comfortable since she doesn't do well with getting her nails done. The groomer first trimmed and then used a file to round off the nails. Even though my dog was very nervous, our groomer was calm and professional. They make dogs sit out on the floor in fences while they groom other dogs. Owner lied and told us our dog was matted even though we brushed him right before coming. And when the owner tried to show us the matting, she took the brush, held it on his leg, and acted like the brush wasn't moving because of the matting. In reality, she just held the brush still. My dog, Cookie was dropped off at 11:30 AM and they called me to pick her up at 4:30 PM. When I dropped her off she was shivering and crying which is fine, normal for my dog. We have been sending our pup Sara to Be Happy Dog (BHD), Hoboken for 2 years for grooming and have referred 10-12 of our friends. During this time despite a few occasions where they took over 3 hours and once 5 hours to return our pup, we have been considerate and supportive. On Dec 18th @4:15pm we get a call from BHD and were asked when are we reaching with our two dogs, we were astonished as we had booked an appointment for the 19th December at 4pm and the same was confirmed by the lady who attended the call. And what baffled us the most was the tone and tenor in which the caller spoke and expected us to be there right away. On informing that our appointment was on 19th @4pm instead of 18th, she got aggressive and spoke in most uncivil an unprofessional way. In fact, despite being their mistake, we tried to be accommodating, and suggested if we could reschedule our appointment to another convenient date but we were told to never send our dogs and hung the call. This obnoxious behavior got us very upset and we called them back and a male picked the call and we tried explaining as to what had happened but he said that they have been closed on Sundays since last 6 months, which we were not aware as their website mentions they are open all week, and would not take the appointment for Dec 19th @4pm. At no point he considered that it could have been a mix-up or miscommunication on their side. He started taking names of pups who belong to our friends (all referred to them by us) and defended by saying that this situation has never happened with them. He also said that all calls are recorded and this was our mistake. We have asked him to replay and post the recordings to confirm this accusation. Knowing that we recommended BHD to over 10+ friends and were a repeat client for 2 years it was very disappointing. We do not plan to send any of our pups to them after this unprofessional & rude behavior. BHD has not only lost our support/business but from every pup we referred. Unfortunately, they are not accredited with BBB (Better Business Bureau) but this review will be posted everywhere to ensure it can reach to every puppy parent. read more

My pup was brought for grooming and came back home with razor burn/ irritation on his genital area. He's been to multiple groomers and nothing of this sort has ever happened. My cat is afraid of dogs and these wonderful women made accommodations to make sure my cat could be groomed around the least amount of dogs possible. My cat was very matted and extremely stressed out, worse than i've ever seen before, but the women at Be Happy Dog were extremely kind and went above and beyond to take care of my cat no matter what and did an amazing job with her grooming and dematting. We brought Ziba our pet dog to Be Happy Dog last month for grooming. The visit was by appointment. I was welcomed by an Asian woman who in my opinion scored a zero on customer-facing. She was abrupt and simply put not pleasant to chat with. I told her I did not want Ziba's pet grooming to be done by shaving. My reasoning was that she is a water dog and must keep her initial coat intact. I also requested a Springer Cut as she is a field springer. When I picked her up it was clear that I did not get what I requested. Ziba was shaved and her initial coat removed from her belly. On top of this, we were charged $150.00 CASH and $160.00 by Credit - when we usually pay between $100 and $115. Dog Grooming in Manhattan is more professional and less than what we were charged. We basically had a bad experience here and we wouldn't return especially when dealing with a rude customer-facing attendant. Look elsewhere. read more

Tried this place out for the first time today with our almost 2 year old golden doodle and LOVED it. After taking him to a groomer that would just shave him if he had a few Mattes, MJ took the time and brushed out the few mattes that he had so that would could keep him at the length we wanted. Dog owners BEWARE. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!! I hope this post serves as a warning to other dog owners. I took my 5lb dog for a bath and nail/paw trim. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. I took my baby to the park while I waited for my dog. Then the nightmare experience: 1) I got a call my dog was ready for pickup and they requested payment. I've paid Venmo in the past. The guy on the phone said they don't accept Venmo. I mentioned I have seen recent transactions for dog grooming go through the Venmo app (see screenshot below) but he said no. Maybe it's only for certain customers- who knows. He wanted cash or I give my card on the phone. I felt my radar go up so I said I will give my card for processing when I arrive to get my dog. He said no again and wanted me to give my card over the phone. I said I don't feel comfortable and will give my card to them at the door. He then changed to requesting only cash then hung up the phone. 2) I quickly grabbed my baby then ran to the bank to get money and arrived at their door. A man came outside and started arguing with me over the payment. I gave him the cash and requested to get my dog outside. He then doubled down and started to escalate the situation continuing to argue with me. 3) I pointed out he has cash in his hand and the payment in full and I wanted me dog outside. I said I will go inside to get my pup if she is not brought outside. He then blocked the door with his body and continued to argue with me. 4) I had to scream at the top of my lungs to get me dog outside now else I will call the cops! He finally moved away from the door and went inside to get my dog. 5) when he came back outside to get me change HE PROCEEDED TO AGRUE WITH ME AGAIN as I was walking down the street with me dog! I took my dog and my baby and ran away from that aweful place as fast as I could. Never again! There's other dog grooming businesses where they won't hold my dog hostage and not show bullying intimidation tactics to customers. I hope this serves as a warning to others. read more

Zero stars. Do not go here. The owner is awful and extremely rude. First time customer. I showed up at 2:20 for my 2:30 appt. Immediately confused when the woman at the door was hesitate to unlock the door and take my dogs leash. Then someone comes out of a car, the owner. Telling me my appt was 2:00 and she can not take my dog. Extremely rude. I was actually in shock at her attitude. And then she got back in her car to finish smoking her cigarette. We were not satisfied with the cut our puppy recieved, from both an aesthetic and technical point of view. It was the first trip to the groomer for our mini goldendoodle, and despite giving the shop direction with some photos we were excited about, his cut in no way resembled them, or any goldendoodle groom examples we can find. Whatever the approach was, attention wasn't paid to our desires, nor was time taken to educate us on why he may have had to be cut that way. After closer inspection, we also noticed that one of his testicles had what appear to be a reddened burn/scratch on it, which hurts him to the touch. We called and the shop, and texted them a photo, after which they agreed that it was their mistake. They apologized and offered to refund the price based on any medical bills, but overall they seemed more defensive than concerned. read more

So, I'm pretty frustrated with the service that we received today. I asked for my dog to be de shedded and I paid additional for this service. When we brought her home, her brush still came up FULL of hair. Which means that she was not properly de shedded and they just did a normal bath. They also cut her nails in the quip on the right side which I saw was not property done. This is dangerous for a dog and will give her a reason to resist her nails being trimmed. I've been holding off on this review because I didn't want to write anything out of pure anger but now that things have settled... My 1yo dog got groomed on Friday 8/20. When I went to pick him up (4.5 hrs later... they only shaved him so unclear what had taken so long when he was their very first apt of the day), he was uncontrollably shaking. Half way through our walk home he stopped walking and sat there crying until we carried him home. By the time we got home, he couldn't walk more than two steps without crying. We originally thought he was just upset from the haircut/had razor burn or irritation from being shaved/or that his anal glands may have been bothering him. It progressively got worse each day to the point where he wasn't able to walk anymore and couldn't stop shaking uncontrollably. We took him to the emergency vet Monday to find out that he has soft tissue injuries down his back/butt and bruising on his tail. The vet said he was likely dropped or fell while at the groomers. He's now on pain killers and may need to go back for xrays. I called the groomer to ask if he fell or if there was any type of accident while he was there. The owner said "if you think we drop pets why would you bring your dog here." I am absolutely furious at the way the owner handled this situation and failed to report ANY accident to me when I picked him up. This was his 3rd time at this groomer and while they always gave a decent haircut, I would NEVER recommend going here. It's not worth the risk of there being an accident/drop and your dog getting hurt and having ZERO idea of any of this. read more
