I wish I could give Kate 6 out of 5 stars. She is seriously amazing. We have a terrier mix pup named Peggy that we adopted from the ASPCA. She had a red collar on when we adopted her (aka. Already labelled badly behaved) and she she lived up to her label. She was the most anxious dog ever and I got frustrated with her constantly. She bit all of our friends, barked constantly at people when they came into our home, never listened to commands, and was very anxious and nervous all the time. I was at the breaking point with Peggy. I wanted to give her to my parents because her behavior caused me such bad anxiety. But all we needed was Kate and now we have a balanced well-behaved dog. We put Peggy through the doggie boot camp and it's like we have a new dog. Seriously, I was so skeptical she could be trained since we waited so long. She was with us for about 2 years before we got the training. From the very first night of training we've had a new dog. Kate showed us how to train her. Her system works. If you're looking for a trainer that uses only treats, let me tell you, don't use Kate. And if you do that, you will be wasting your money because it doesn't work. Her method works for even the most nervous/anxious pets. Honestly, it's a big investment to get Kate's doggie boot camp and we are on a tight budget. We spent $100 to get Peggy from the ASPCA, and we spent more than 8x that on training. But I would do it again, even if it was worth double the price. It's worth every single penny. It takes a lot of work to put Kate's teachings into practice. And Peggy is far from a perfect dog. But she's improving. Let me start by saying you will not find someone who is more dedicated to their job and actually wants to help people, Kate is the best! She literally helped me when no one else would. What I mean by that is she allowed me to come into her home since she couldn't travel to mine. We were referred to Kate by Badass Brooklyn rescue, where we got our pup. As a long term dog owner, I felt like I knew alot about training, but this new little guy put us at ours wits end. We reached out to Kate for help with our rescued pug/terrier mix. We got him at a year and a half and struggled for over a year trying to get him trained/socialized. We were told at his rescue he had a particularly hard time prior to joining our family, and when we met him he was in "time out" for misbehaving with his fellow dogs. These facts did not disrupt the fact my wife and I fell in love with him. Despite our best intentions we were ill equipped to change his actions/demeanor without some professional help. His bad behavior around other dogs and small children was a serious problem because we live in a building with many other dogs and all of his interactions with them were aggressive with a possibility for a violent reaction and a lot of stress for my wife and I. I highly recommend Kate--she really helped me with LuLu, my new rescue pup. I had grown up with a dog as a child, but it was many years ago, and never in a city neighborhood environment. After about a month, I realized I needed help. LuLu was pulling on her leash like crazy, and exhibiting aggression towards other dogs, sometimes even other people. Going out for walks was getting super stressful! I didn't know if she was going to lunge at another dog, or get into a barking match in the lobby of my building (so embarrassing) or start barking/running after a motorcycle. After doing a Bunch of research, I decided to go with Kate's Boot Camp option. After the first lesson, I saw results. After two lessons, my fear of walking LuLu pretty much disappeared. Kate is not a treat-based trainer. The emphasis is on structure, discipline, and consistency. She also builds up your confidence so that you can be the alpha your puppy needs. All I can say is- THANK YOU KATIE! My boyfriend and I were so excited to adopt our wonderful terrier Humphrey from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue (whom I highly recommend as well). But when our sweet baby started alternatively acting scared and withdrawn and then being aggressive and even biting me, we were left confused and scared. Badass members recommended Katie and I can't thank them enough for doing so. Katie's training program is amazing- we saw changes in Humphrey after our first session. Katie is an amazing trainer who totally transformed our life with our new rescue dog. We adopted a very energetic two year old and on our first few nights we weren't sure it was going to work out as we could not figure out how to calm him down enough so that we could eat dinner. After a single session with Katie, we had learned enough about our pup Miles and his need for structure to radically alter how he behaved in the house. Over the course of the six session boot camp, Miles has learned to sit, stay, go into a down stay, come (he's still working on that one), walk at heel, go to place, and is starting to be less stressed in general. With her basic obedience series, she did a tremendous job helping us with our special Phoebe (1 year old boxer/terrier mix), who was doing a lot of lunging (dogs, pedestrians), crooked walking, and chewing. Phoebe behaves infinitely better now - calm, obedient, a down-stay/heel champ, crate-trained, much better with recall - while still being her usual happy self.
