Sure the place could be bigger yada yada... Some people on Yelp are just too anal. This is SUPPOSED TO BE a local mom and pop store, one of the many Green Point is lucky to still have. Go live in Manhattan if you want a giant store with way too much product and fancy lights posters posters and displays everywhere. For me personally I love running into this place and grabbing an old standby or learning about a new brand my dogs might like. And the owner is super friendly. Humble-proud. In a cool way. No stuck up, skanky fancy-wannabe chicks in 3 inch heels walking around this quaint store more interested in getting discovered or being seen than being of service. Just an middle aged man and a surprisingly large supply of a million different dog and cat foods and such. All at great prices. Make this your new pet supply go to joint. You'll love it. read more

Pets on the Run, while not the fanciest, cheapest, or most nationwide pet store in Greenpoint, is a neighborhood gem. Every time I'm in there, at least one local stops by to chat with the owner (Zohar?), who is almost apologetically nice. I myself will wander in for the sole purpose of playing with their irrepressibly cute gray kitten. (To whoever clipped his whiskers off last month: if I find you, I will beat you senseless with a rawhide bone.) Anyway! For those of us who try to win our cats' affection with human-grade, melamine-free foodstuffs, Pets on the Run is packed with premium bribe material; Evo, Wellness, Innova, and Before Grain are always in stock. If you strive to improve their litterbox experience, you'll also find a _fantastic_ assortment of non-clay litters; I discovered a green tea-based litter here that I never want to be without. Most of the stuff that isn't food, litter, or treats is high up on a shelf or behind the register, so if you don't see it, just ask; as someone noted below, if they don't have it they will happily order it for you. read more

Not the best pet supply business in the neighborhood. It's good when you're in a pinch and need to grab something quick, but otherwise I say go somewhere else. Like other reviewers have mentioned I have also bought expired or damaged goods on a few occasions. I once bought a can of Merrick cat food that was punctured and when I went to open it the contents were rancid. Think cat food has an unappealing perfume? Well, spoiled cat food makes you want to vomit. A word of warning, if you do shop here check the expiration date before you make a purchase. I don't think they have very high turnover which may explain the old stock and lack of variety. read more

I used to get my dog's food here, I don't anymore. I got a $72 bag of food with a hole in the bottom. Also, I've seen the same 33lb bag of food in that store for over a year now -- yes, dog food does expire. Especially when we are talking about ultra premium kibble. Also, I requested 2 weeks in advance they order the food my dog needs, and they forgot. I went down the street and had them order it, it was here in 2 days, and $7 cheaper. Too bad. read more

This is the best pet store i have ever been to. It isn't the nicest or the most organized but it does have exactly what i need for the price that i want. I recently decided to change pet foods because i wasn't happy with the one i was using and i have to say they have the best prices for wellness Cat food that i have seen and considering that this is a very rare brand of cat food to find in stores to say the least, i was overjoyed. They also carry the Wellness cat treats and dry food which is even harder to find and to top it all off they are one block from my apartment. I freaken love this place and so do my two adorable kitties who will have the best food from now on :) read more

Pets on the Run packs a lot of pet supplies into a fairly small space. I'm not really familiar with the selection of goods for dogs, but they carry a wide variety of cat food brands. Unfortunately, they don't have a big selection of flavors in the brands I usually buy for my cats, so I generally only stop in to pick up a few cans when I can't make it to my regular pet store. read more

Don't let the size of the store deter you, for years I have been finding what is needed for my cat here--a great neighborhood store. The owner is super friendly and has a love of animals (obvious by how well his resident cats are loved) and gives helpful product recommendations if needed. What is best is that he also has in stock the healthier premium brands of raw foods---which is not easy to find in the neighborhood. Highly recommended! read more

I believe in supporting all the little moms n pops places in Greenpoint, local pharmacies, bakeries, small grocery stores and this place. I've been coming to Pets on the Run ever since I moved to Greenpoint 2 years ago. It's not cheap but I do it for the good deed. The other day I ordered my cat's food on amazon because I was traveling, only to find out my cat doesn't eat this flavor. Not to let the $30 go to waste I ask the owner of this place if he would be nice enough to trade the flavors with me (he sells this exact stuff and I was kind of hoping he would give me a little recognition for supporting his business) but in return he was kind of rude about it. "I can't take everything that's bought on the internet" he says and I get it, trust me, but the packaging is all intact, clearly says amazon on the plastic enclosure and again I've been coming here for so long, dropping $30, 40, at times $50 at a time. read more

Absolutely love this place! They have really fantastic options for dogs and puppies -- more so than I have seen in Williamsburg, Fort Greene, and Bushwick.
