My cat has gotten super picky about what he wants to eat, so I have to allow his highness to sample alllll the foods. (^-^)There are also many toys here for both cats and dogs. I like that they carry good quality merchandise, but have found the customer service to be lacking recently. I went in to pick up some Origen and Stella & Chewy's for my boy, and couldn't find the cat Origen. I searched for a while and finally asked the person at the register. She looked around a bit but couldn't find it either, concluding that they were out of stock. I needed it right away so looked a little further and found it. When I told the employee, so that others wouldn't have to repeat my experience, she looked at me blankly, seemingly not interested. The overall vibe was that I was creating an inconvenience by requesting assistance. There was no warmth, no presence, no sense that I was particularly welcome in the store. I have met with this kind of attitude on several previous occasions while shopping at this store. I may continue to go here from time to time *only* because of the convenient (for me)location, but I hope to find a store with better customer service. Also, there's a sense that dogs might be the favored species here (they must pull in more profit), and the register is surrounded by body parts like pig ears and whatnot.

So I was in the neighborhood and wanted to patronize a local store to support local business. I wanted a pet brush for double coat fur dogs and a harness. There was no one else in the store, but when I asked for some help on which of the many options would be appropriate for the dog (which I had with me), he was gruff and couldn't be bothered to give me any guidance or info. I ended up standing in front of the carousel of brushes and googling reviews. Then, after paying for the brush, I asked for his opinion on the size and choice of a harness. Without hesitation he recommended a medium size for my small shiba, and let me try the harness on her. However, before ringing up the purchase, he again was blunt and pre-emptively said, "no returns on this one, okay?" I wasn't planning on returning it, but it surprised me that he would say so and say it in this way. Was I being profiled? I'm not sure. It didn't feel good to be treated this way. I reassured him I don't live nearby and didn't plan on returning it anyway, and we wore the harness out happily. It wasn't two weeks in when my dog started wiggling out of the harness on its tightest setting. Come to find out, she really fits a small (because I got her a size small in the same model, and that fits her perfectly). I think the items I purchased were very basic things for a dog, and the lack of care and customer service on the part of the owner left much to be desired. I will not be back.

It's by…read moreno means a large pet store, but I'm fairly confident it's the best one in all of Sunnyside. I've always been super impressed with their helpful customer service, super niche inventory, and how organized everything is in the store. It's certainly not like the chain'y mega stores but it is quaint and clean. They have a good number of things: pet food, pet toys and everything in between it all. Most of the stuff is geared toward cats and dogs, but they surely have the supplies for folks bringing up a ::insert animal:: into their home. Another bonus? It actually smells good in here. (#1) As is the deal with most stores with premium goods, their stuff can get expensive. While most everything can probably found online for cheaper, it's the best option for being able to get something in person without the wait for shipping. For those not able to make to the store, they also deliver for a fee. Lastly, keep an eye out for their monthly sales -- that's the best time to come. ____________ (#1) You know that odor when entering some pet stores? Not here.

I found some of their products for much less at different stores, at Amazon, and/or Walmart. No one asked me if I have their loyalty card. But they asked the customer next to my register. What the heck was that? I had to ask about the benefits and I really wanted to ask why I wasn't asked about joining or if I already joined? Hmm...something to think about.
