The good was that it was the closest Aquarium to the house, and service personnel was friendly and responsive. On the other hand, place was a little gloomy, but they have all the stuff you might need for a basic fish tank setup. Just wish they brightened up the place, and reduced the humidity a bit, it would go a long way to make the shopping experience there so much better. read more

This place is depressing. When I got there, the birds were in small cages behind glass, in a dark cabinet. (Some guy came while I was there and turned on the lights but why were the birds left in the dark in the first place???) The rodents were over crowded. The fish tanks where dirty and the water seemed skuzzy. The kid who helped me was rude. For example, my girlfriend commented to me that she could find something for a certain price and he cut her off saying, "no, you can't find this at that price." (We did) He didn't seem to want to be bothered with any of our questions and acted like helping us was distracting him from hanging out with the other guys in the store. Man this place is the actual worst. The animals are miserable. Fish tanks disgusting, half dead and dead fish everywhere. Literal children running the place that have no idea what anything is. I don't know why I keep trying to come here, the drive elsewhere is worth it. I came form coral glue today. The kid had no idea what I was talking about, tried to hand me epoxy three times and even tried to argue with me that epoxy is the only thing used to hold down coral. What a joke! It's the only aquarium store in the area and it has a variety of selection, but the place reaallly needs to be cleaned! I didn't want to touch any of the products bc some of them were expired and others were covered in dust/webs. I think given the times and the area this place is not too bad. Sometimes the selection is a little slim, but they seem to keep healthy fish. The ones we've bought from them were all in good condition, minus one betta that died of a mystery issue. The owner is a nice guy. Service is better when he is around. I don't understand why so may yelpers are complaining about not being able to get dog and cat food at an aquarium store. Based on the name alone, you should be able to tell this place specializes in fish and anything else they have is probably for neighborhood convenience. As an aquarium store they have everything you need. Very good selection of freshwater and interesting saltwater selection too. Some decent frags and lots of rock and driftwood selection (though I can never bring myself to pay money for a piece of pleasant looking firewood). I will say that the yelper who wrote about parrot fever had me freaked enough that I didn't even venture into bird-land. This place is awful, the fish tanks are full of dead fishes. I bought two guppies the other day and as soon as i put them in my tank i had ICK all over my other fish that I've had for almost a year. The young boy sold me a dying shrimp and told me it was just pregnant. He asked me if I was fine with having a pregnant shrimp and I said yes. When I saw it I asked if its dying because its orange and he responded no, its just pregnant. I got home and it's already dead in the bag. If I added it to my tank it could of infected all of my other shrimp with anything it could of had. Don't trust anything this shop tells you. read more

I would not recommend buying any type of animal from this place. All of the tanks look dirty and brown, the birds are kept in very small cages. Hamsters do not have enough bedding to burrow and the gerbils look very weak and sick and barely have any food. Their bowl was mainly full of their bedding. Just today I saw a baby gerbil which was probably the result of misgendering the male or the female and placing them together. If not, being that I've seen the same animals every time I have come into this store, they should not be breeding gerbils as no one has been purchasing them. The large rats are also kept together, about 4 in a 10 gallon tank. There was also a turtle that did not have enough water and was very murky. This is unacceptable. read more

Its an Aquarium that has everything that my local Aquarium does not anymore. It has bulk rock, a great selection of freshwater fish, saltwater fish and the coral department is on point. I wish this place was closer to me since I find the quality of the fish selection second to none. I find it hard these days to find places that take fish seriously anymore and this place delivers, big time. The owners are very friendly and I also got to purchase a huge tub of Tertamin flake food for like $11 because they buy it in bulk and sell it like that. Awesome. Although the staff wasn't amazingly friendly to me, I really love this store. One of my favorite reasons is the reptiles. In the past, I've purchased bearded dragons from Petland and other local pet stores. But they would all die within the year of something. I bought my current little here about 3 years ago and he is absolutely gorgoues! He's healthy, growing more and more everyday, and his colors are vibrant. While I hate to bad-mouth local businesses, this place is not my top choice for a pet store. My biggest bone to pick with them comes from my love of all that is cute and furry. Their back room is teeny tiny and crowded full of bird, rabbit and mice cages. While small animals can be kept together, they do not enjoy the loud squaking of the nearby birds, nor the high heat most birds are accustom to. Also a neat selection of reptiles in the back room. In Queens I would say this is probably the second best aquarium store you could go to after Fishtown. read more

I agree 100 %. This place is like going into a Jungle with the humidity and small place. They dont have a vase amount of items. There also very EXPENSIVE. Hello, They have a great selection of fish in stock. I have been searching everywhere for hermit crab shells and when I went into Paradise aquarium, the staff treated me very well and went out of the way to help me find shells that were the right size although to them it would of barely made a dollar. I find that kind of care hard to find these days. I will definitely come back here for advice and pet supplies in the future. read more

To me this store offers all that a petlover could ask for. I have a few different pets from dogs to snakes to fish and i find that this is one of the few stores in Queens that i can go and i can find everything thing i need for all my pets. The tanks are all beautifully set up.Salt water fish on one side and Fresh water on the other. They have a huge tank by the counter with nothing but salt water coral. They have a wide variety of live feeders. Gold fish, guppies, minnows, crickets large and small, worms of different kinds, hissing roaches, and different size mice and rats. They have some of the most beautiful and healthy reptiles that you can find in new york. I have purchased two of my favorite snakes from this store and they were just super healthy when i first got them and have grown to be just beautiful animals.
