My new fishes they look happy

I was there onSaturday afternoon January 2 2021. The place was disorganized to say the least burmtbthebiwner was really busy I was told waiting for new fishes arriving. The tanks are really clean there was more variety of salt water fish than fresh water fish. The selection for was very limited I was primary looking for different mollies.i bought different tetra for my 29gallon aquarium some were priced right some were very expensive he was kind thought one was very small so he gave me an extra and I bought two plants he also gave me way extra.the total price was 136.00 was more than I wanted to spend . Overall not a bad experience.

I've been in the hobby for over 25 years but just started a salt water tank. Searched aquariums in queens as I live out in Long Island. KHC came up, glad I visited them. The place is a bit hidden, easily missed if you're not paying attention. You'll need to go down stairs to enter, the place could use a spruce up but Jerry and his fish make up for that. He helped me out with some questions I had and offered his expertise which I found invaluable. Many fish that you won't find in other aquarium places. I ended up purchasing a Sohol tang, a clown, pistol shrimp and a goby. So far they are all doing great. I will definitely be back for some zoas and frags. The pictures are of my tank with fish from KHC.

One of the best salt water and fresh water aquarium store you can find. Jerry is a one of a kind guy real genuine very knowledgeable guy. Very approachable and has an answer to any question that you have. Also has a good selection of corals.

Impressive aquarium shop that's totally hidden in Flushing on 150th St and Northern Blvd on a flight of stairs. Not such a great selection of aquarium supplies but the fish themselves. The selection of various tropical, fresh water and brackish water fish is very good and, best of all, the prices here are very cheap compared to other places. Staff is helpful as well. For fish alone, this place is great and the fish here look healthy. Definitely check out this place to get some new fish for your aquarium.

Great fish at a very good prices. It's not overly expensive compared to other fish places and the quality of the fish is amazing.

Before I address the haters, I want to say this place is my top choice for a local fish store. John…read moreand all of the crew greet me with warmth and casual professionalism everytime I walk through their doors. Now if you are still on the fence about coming here due to some people questioning the durability of MA's fish with them getting sick" within a day or two after bringing home" or that "Selling sick fish is unacceptable". Let me ease your mind. Yes, fish do get sick sometimes. That is always unfortunate. It is also sometimes out of a LFS's control at times. Pathogens, parasites and protozoa are always present in aquaculture. Symptoms may remain dormant or negligible and cannot be detected from a glance. Hence it is why we in the hobby quarantine new fish, not just for diseases we can see but also those we cannot. However sickness can sometimes not be preventable. Something you CAN prevent is a massacre of your whole tank by simply QUARANTINING YOUR FISH. If you allow time to do its thing you will most definitely know whether or not any action needs to be taken. Simply dumping new fish into established tanks just means " I dont care about my fish", " If they die its not my fault since I didnt know they were sick". Now alot of people in this hobby are beginners and thats great! Just learn to ask for help. If help is coming from a person who "pretended he didn't understand what I was saying", GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. There's this pretty neat place call the internet. Oh? you're on it now? WOW! SEE look at that! Not so Hard right? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! :) All in all, sorry for the rant. It is just frustrating to see such a good and hard working establishment come under fire from people who dont do their research and go "oh no, the consequences of my actions" when they screw up. K Bye ;)

Very disappointed. I've been buying fish from this store for years, but the prices have become…read moreridiculously high, and the livestock quality has clearly gone downhill. Last week I bought several fish here, and they turned out to have ich. Within just a few days, every one of them died, and worse, the disease spread to other fish in my tank. This ended up costing me far more than just the fish I bought from the store. Selling sick fish is unacceptable, especially from a store that specializes in aquarium livestock. Longtime customers should not have to worry about bringing disease home from a fish store. After this experience, I seriously question their fish health standards and whether they are properly monitoring the condition of the fish they sell.

For a reasonable fee, you can have them come to your home to set your entire tank up. This was the TOPPER that made me give them their well deserved 5 stars. The owner actually babysat my little fish. Yes he did. Three years ago we bought our first house in Levittown and I didn't know what to do with my 20 gallon tank and five little fish who at that point had lived past a year. He said he would actually keep our fish in a separate tank until we set up the tank in our house. When we went back to pick them up a few days later, there they were, swimming around happily. And - NO CHARGE for the babysitting. Well, unfortunately, our tank is now empty but one day we will set it up again and I will be back to Total Aquariums. Oh, if you do go there, check out the live Alligators in the front of the store. Great for the kids!!

I remember being fascinated by the plumbing setup in that store. There was basically a network of plumbing under your feet. I think the new store is by appointment only and I've been there a few times. It's worth the phone call and personal attention. Call to confirm this though, I am not 100% sure. I consider myself well-versed in the hobby but that doesn't mean I don't need a hand from time-to-time and it certainly doesn't mean I know everything. Some of my coral wasn't looking so good and I just wanted someone to take a look and offer their opinion. Downs did just that. I called Downs at noon on a Friday and they were booked for the day but he still stopped by at the end of the day to help out. I figured I wouldn't see anyone for at least a few days, never mind same-day. He was concerned that if we waited to long I might lose a few pieces and he didn't want that to happen. Downs is a really good guy. Doesn't try to shove products down your throat or his methods. This hobby definitely isn't a one-size-fits-all and he understands that. While I don't think he agreed with all of my methods, he considers them and works around them. While I enjoy doing my own water-changes and maintaining my own tank, I will definitely have Downs by once a month just to look things over. One other important thing to mention and this may or may not be important to most people. With babies and kids in the house, we take our shoes off. As soon as Downs walked in, he took his shoes off before I even had to ask. Now imagine having them service your tank(s)? Drop-clothes, plastic, I am sure they are meticulous. I'll see you soon Downs, thanks again!
